Satellite A65-S1062 battery does not charge

Hi all,
I have bought TOSHIBA Satellite A65-S1062 few days ago, but it was not new.
And now I have a problem with charging the battery = ( Firstly i reinstalled OS (windows xp sp2) and tried to install all drivers, but i had problems with "power saver".
At first the indicator in control panel showed 6% of charge, and wile installing the programs i checked the indicator, in may be half an hour it showed 7% and everything would be ok but in an hour it showed me 0%, and it doesn't change for 2 days already.
I checked my computer with "everest" and it showed the wear level - 25%, but what is interesting, it shows different charge rate (150 mW to 20000 mW) Current capacity is shown like 150mWh (0%).

P.S.: I'm sorry for my English, but I'm from Ukraine and can't speak fluently.

I also think so, but you see I've bought it only 3 days ago, and after installation windows it seemed to charge, it even charged the battery from 6% to 7% but what is strange, that I didn't switch off the adapter and it had to charge but an hour after, i have seen that 7% have changed to 0%.... that's why i don't think it is died, even though the program shows that there is still 75% of the battery is alive. Unfortunately the variety is finished and i can't bring it to service center of TOSHIBA, and there is another problem, there is very few amount of my model in Ukraine, and it is really hard to test the battery in another notebook or try another battery in mine =(

Satellite A65 freezes and does not respond after adding of RAM

Gents,
My laptop Satellite A-65 has been upgrade from 512 MB RAM to 1024 RAM. It recognized additional memory without any problem (as it should be according to manual).
But unfortunately after 1 day it begun suddenly stops, pictures on screen freezes, laptop does not respond at all - only reset (pushing and holding power button) can help. some times laptop is able to work 2 or 3 hours, but then again stops.
Memory place cover is rather hot, fan very often work uninterruptibly. so i can't decide whether problem is in new memory card or not enough cooling or might be in changing of BIOS version (or BIOS setttings) and might be memory becomes full and does not clear itself properly (last remark was found on some forumes).
Experts, help to find exact reason especcially if u had similar problem.

Im not expert but I would recommend removing the new memory module and let run the notebook only with the standard memory module.
If the notebook will not hang and will not freeze then its a very clear case for me.
Either the second module is not compatible or faulty.
In my opinion you should use branded modules like Kingston for example. The quality is much better as a no-name module.

Satellite A505-S6973 and OS Upgrade

Fellow toshiba laptop users,
I'm here tonight to find out, my laptop has the touchpad and quickplay buttons and I was wondering if I were to upgrade my pc to Windows 7 would i be able to use all these features (plus eco utility and pc health monitor).
I ask this question because currently my pc has, what is supposed to be a 500Gb harddisk, 317 GB hard disk space available but i barely have information or documents stored on my system. I can understand i have programs installed but still to occupy that amount.
So, long story short, if i were to remove and install the Windows 7 operating system, and i installed the toshibha value added package and eco utility programs would that be all I would need to dload and install because i like this pc.
Also can anyone with a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6973 tell me if they can the feel the breeze coming out of their laptop because my fan seems to blow slow and the temperature on my system is always high, currently FAN SPEED 90% and CPU TEMPERATURE 64%, and I hav my system configured to use low power.
I appreciated any and all comments, suggestions and advice...

I don't have US notebook model and cannot answer to your second question but I know for sure that Win7 works well on Satellite A500.
Two months ago I had friends Satellite A500 at home. Originally it was preinstalled with Vista.
I made two experiments to see how it works with Win7. At first I have upgraded it with Toshiba upgrade kit and everything was OK.
With clean OS installation everything was OK too.
Before you start Win7 installation please check Toshiba support page to be sure which version is fully supported. Here in Europe only Win7 64bit is fully supported.

To be honest I doubt such external graphic card would be really helpful.
According to this article you can connect it to a USB port and in my opinion the USB 2.0 speed is not good enough to transmit a huge amount of data which accrues while playing a game
However, I never tested it so I cannot provide any details.

Satellite A65-SP159 - How to restore from DVD?

How I can restore my system?
The BIOS of this notebook only bootable from HDD.

That means the CD/DVD drive is not listed in BIOS anymore?!
If not the CD/DVD rive seems to be malfunctioning
In this case you need a new compatible CD/DVD drive that you can reinstall Windows from Toshiba recovery disk.
You can get a new drive from an authorized service provider in your country. Just ask the guys, they will help you.

Satellite R630-155 - Fan is too noisy and SSD upgrade

I am the owner of a Toshiba Satellite R630-155 (Core i5-480). My problems are:
1. The fan is too noisy and never stops. In normal operation (browsing and general office work) there is a constant high pitch noise that is audible three to four meters away in an office environment - in high load you just can't stand it!!! The fan never stops... even when you are doing nothing...
2. Heat is a big problem. The bottom of the laptop is constantly overheating and i have to place it on my desk in a way that the bottom left corner is outside of the table so it can breath fresh air from below - if not, the temperature rises and the (loud) fan is unable to keep up. When i work with the laptop while sitting on a sofa, i have to place a thick book between the laptop and my legs. The book must be thick (more than an inch) with hard covers, otherwise the heat passes through the book!!!!
3. Last (but not least, i just mention the biggest problems here) it's the problem with SSD installation. I bought a used Corsair F80 (80Gb SSD) from a friend, but i was unable to use it with the Toshiba - the BIOS was not detecting the disk. I tried installing all latest firmware updates for both laptop and SSD but i had no success. Then i gave the disk back and i bought a brand new Zalman 128Gb SSD (SSD0128N1 Sandforce) but i had exactly the same problem. I contacted my local Toshiba support and after a lot of conversation the only answer i got is that the laptop is not compatible with those SSD's and this is acceptable by Toshiba and not their problem. They told me that if i need an SSD upgrade i can only go for the Toshiba SSD that is installed on the portege series, which is sold by Toshiba for a ridiculously expensive price - about $500 for 128Gb. I contacted the European support center and i got the exact same reply. I searched on the Internet and i found someone else with the exact same problem with a Corsair 128Gb SSD - he found that the laptop detects the SSD after ten to twenty reboots. I tried that and it was true - after a lot of reboots the laptop detected the Zalman disk and i was able to install Windows 7 successfully, but the process is unacceptable. Also the disk is benchmarked by official sites at the speed of an OCZ Vertex 2 128Gb (and slightly better), but when i ran a benchmark in the Toshiba, the results I got were below half of the advertised speed. Same benchmark in another machine for the same disk, resulted in the advertised speeds.
Shame for Toshiba... nice design and portability but everything else is a big flaw. Their support in non existent and they do not value their customers. I feel they stole my money and I'll never buy a Toshiba laptop again.
Sorry for the big message, but I need I have to warn potential customers. Can someone help me with any of the above problems? Do you have the same problems too?

Regarding the fan and heat issue: Did you make BIOS update? Friend of me has Satellite R630 too and he told me that fan activity with new BIOS version 2.10 is reduced. Furthermore the notebook is cooler than before so I would recommend installing this update. You can download the BIOS update here:

But before you start the BIOS update you should consider the following tips:
-Run update as Administrator only
-Unzip all files from zip archive before you start the update file
-Close all running programs and also the antivirus and firewall
-Make sure that battery is fully charged
Regarding the SSDs its always a little bit complicated installing 3rd party products and nobody can guarantee that such parts would work. You are always on safely side with original Toshiba spare parts.
Everything what you can do is installing the newest firmware for SSD and hope that it works but who knows maybe the BIOS update will also help you in this case ;)

Satellite A65 won't start and I get only blue screen!

When I start my satellite A65 a blue screen comes up saying "a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer"
it says to check if I have adequate disk space or to either disable or update the driver if a driver was mentioned in the stop message... or to check bios updates...
I can type out everything it says if I need to, but that the jist

It might be because I didn't update enough when it told me to.
It won't start, not even on safe mode, and it won't let me restore, which I would be perfectly willing to do at this point.

Usually the Blue screen of death happens due to the serious software problem or due to the hardware malfunction.
In your case it sounds more like something wrong with the hardware. Why, because you are not able to restore the notebook from the delivered Toshiba recovery CD!
What to do buddy? I think the notebook must be checked.
Try to contact an ASP in your country and ask for the further handling!

No luck on restore of satellite a65, new OS?

I have given up trying to restore my Satellite A65 s-1065. I tried 2 diff restore disc's(neither of which were made with my computer). They would boot just fine but then error out at various stages of the restore process.
I want to upgrade anyway, and was thinking windows 7. Now I got an idea, but dont know if its possible and probibly illegal. If I bought a win 7 disc off ebay and used the product key off another laptop to activate? Would it work? I know if I bought the full retail it would come with key, but looking at $125 vs $25. Should I forget that idea?

Stick with XP for that computer. You can get the proper recovery discs from a third party.

R/3 upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 and BW upgrade from 3.5 to 7.0

Is there a reason to upgrade Solution Manager from 3.2 to 4.0 when upgrading R/3 from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 and BW upgrade from 3.5 to 7.0?
And when in current situation Unicode UTF8 is used, could that give problems during / after the upgrade?

Hello ALex,
There is not a must to upgrade also your solman 3.2 when you upgrade your satellites, only consider if you need the solman diagnostic or not and also that the new functionality in solman 4.0.
Which system is unicode, the satellite?
There is also not problems having a non-unicode solman with unicode satellites and the other, having a unicode-solman "linked" to unicode-satellites.

Satellite A65 restore error

I have an old satellite a65-s1065 that I attempted to put a new (bigger) hdd. When I tried the restore/recovery cd, it gets to 31% every time then stops, gives an error code 4ef000017. Any clue to cause or fix? Thanks in advanced!

Need Board/VGA-Drivers WinXP to operate Satellite A65 from US

Satellite A65 is not listed throughout the Toshiba-Site(s). But it exists and badly needs some drivers. This special one came from US to Germany and has lost all Recovery/Driver/Utility-CDs. I set it up w/ standard-XP-drivers, but shortly after installing VGA (ATI Catalyst) it produced blue screens.
Now it wont boot XP w/o blue screening. This maybe because I installed A60 drivers which seemed to be OK, but VGA wasnt.
Can anyone help me? Is there any link to drivers exactly for Satellite A65?

Satellite A500 PSAM3E - Windows 7 upgrade fails - Error code: 0x80070570

I am installing the win7 upgrade on my Satellite A500 PSAM3E and when I reach in the Expanding windows files it stop and a message pop up:
*(Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570). *
Installation stop and I could not do anything, I restarted the upgrade but still the same.
I have just received my DVD win7 upgrade from Toshiba, is the DVD corrupted or some other issues, before the installation a message appears that I should uninstall ATI Catalyst install and ATI catalyst control panel.
Needs help from expert who have already done the upgrade.

And why you didnt do this?
Maybe you are running an older version of the display drivers and so you have to uninstall them before you can start the upgrade.

I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to 10.0.2 and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version and once again nothing.

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

Warranty and User Upgrades

I'm thinking about buying my first Mac. I'm a power user, a programmer, and I like to tinker with my machine. I've used primarily pre-built Windows boxes over the years, though I've built one of my machines and upgraded the others a few times. I noticed that Apple hardware can be expensive, so I was thinking of buying a baseline Mac Pro system, and then upgrading the RAM (I know about the big heatsink issue) and later the HDs and video card.
How does Apple handle warranty support for when the end-user does the upgrades herself with third-party hardware? I heard that it doesn't void the warranty on the entire machine (unless it shorts out everything :P), but what if something goes wrong? How good are they at honoring the warranty and how much of my warranty will be voided as I do the upgrades?
I never really considered a Mac before because it was impossible to upgrade myself.

If you look at the tabs on this window, there is "Manuals" and if you click there, you will see the "DIY" Do It Yourself Guides to upgrades you can do: RAM, disk drives, PCI Express, video and optical drives. We all wonder about some of that.
It is when you modify the case, the design, or attempt to over clock memory, bus or cpu etc that you are "on your own." or use flashed components.
They have helped make it easier to run Windows, and Intel hardware supports virtualization which helps too, so you can run multiple virtual machines.
However, asking for or talking about rumors, future products and features, you won't or shouldn't find much on Apple's own Discussions. But lots of help in any and all DIY type upgrades.
