Satellite A660-10W - After Windows 7 installation some unknown devices

So I have the Satellite A660-10W, and I reinstalled the Windows 7 it came with Windows 7 ultimate 64bit. First thing is when I use fn+F6/F7 (other combinations work) for brightness levels it doesn`t work, brightness doesn`t change. And the other thing is that there seem to be some unknown devices.
Here is everything hope someone can think of what could it be, thanks in advance. :)

OK you and my friend are right, because I installed the video card drivers from nvidia`s website, not from toshiba, now brightness works :D
And I reinstalled Windows because one thing there were no partitions only one lonely drive and I wanted 30-40gigs for windows and the rest for stuff, not when I decide do reinstall lets say a year later with work and media on it to lose everything. I didn`t do any back ups, even all the shop assistant talked about when I bought it was to buy some dvd`s and backup, but I said I never did that before so why would I need it now, anyway now everything works perfectly, iI`m prepared for the next time :D , thanks for the help. :)

    thanks alot for you support..

The A100-036 is a one unit from the PSAANE series and you should choose this from the Toshiba driver page.
As said above download all available drivers and follow the instruction mentioned in the installation instruction document.
    Then everything should run correctly

  • Satellite A660-10W - Sensitive Arrow Key

I have a Satellite A660-10W running Windows 7 64-bit for about 7 months now. A couple of days ago I noticed that the right arrow key became very sensitive. It feels quite normal just like other keys when pressed and not actually soft to the touch but the slightest touch to the key would cause it to trigger. This a major inconvenience for me since I use it a lot for writing (my work) and using this arrow key now is not accurate at all and it becomes a hassle when I need to use it.
Could anybody help me with this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey,
Its not easy to discuss about this behavior and I think this must be checked from a notebook technician if its normal behavior or not. I cant say something about this without seeing it.
Your notebook is only 7 months old so I would contact an authorized service provider in your country. In this case hardware repair is for free so ask the guys for help. They should check your keyboard if it needs replacing or another part.
Do know where you can search for an authorized service provider?
    Here you can do it:

PS: The sensitivity of single keys cant be changed.

  • Upgraded my macbook pro to mountain lion. But during windows installation, it refuses coz of FAT file system. Also is it possible to partition after windows installation???

I just upgraded my macbook pro to mountain lion. Now I want to install windows, but during installation using bootcamp, it says windows can't install on FAT partition. I couldn't change it to NTFS. Also how can I partition my hard disk after windows installation. Coz before windows installation, if I partition hard disk, it won't allow me to install windows saying startup disk can't be partitioned.......help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Now, I wish to upgrade from Mountain Lion 10.8.5 to latest version of OS X Yosemite, but I am in doubt and worry if after upgraded to Yosemite, can I still using my Windows XP where I installed now in Mountain Lion 10.8.5 BootCamp?
Yosemite does not allow a new installation of XP, but an existing XP installation is self-contained and will continue to work. Does your XP installation use a FAT partition? You may be better off using NTFS and then upgrading to Yosemite.
Will the Yosemite upgrade process delete my Windows XP partition or crash my current BootCamp? Can I still have an option to load OS X or Windows XP (press 'alt/option' key during boot up) after upgraded to Yosemite?
If you have made any re-sizing attempts to WXP partition Yosemite will cause problems, otherwise the Yosemite upgrade leaves XP untouched.
Are there any specific reasons to upgrade to Yosemite?

    Hi Patrick,
To be honest your posting is very hard to understand and I dont know what you mean exactly.
According your posting it seems that you need some driver and you can get all drivers here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Regarding the FN keys you need Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Everything can be downloaded from official Toshiba page.

  • Satellite A660-11M on Windows 7 - Toshiba Power Saver does not work

    I have a Satellite A660-11M and I work on Windows 7 Ultimate
The problem is that I have download all drivers and updates but the toshiba power saver does not work its installed with no error and TPSLaunch (green icon) does not open when I click on it and no icon I found in the control panel for the program afterIi install all the Value Added Package!

Toshiba Power Saver is only for XP installations, you can't install the XP Drivers (and most Vista Drivers) in Windows 7.
Make sure all your drivers are for the A660, and make sure they are for Windows 7.

  • Satellite P105-S6197 - after WXP installation DVDs are not readable

Hello all (sorry for my English) :)
I purchase Satellite P105-S6197 with Vista Home Premium (RUS). I have immediately formatted HDD and installed WIN XP PRO without any problem. All drivers installed correct and in Device Manager haven't unknown devices.
But after this operation my Win XP does not read DVDs, CDs - no problem. I try boot from any bootable DVD - no success, disk not read. In BIOS I see information about DVD drive normally.
What I can do for diagnostic my problem?
Maybe some MS updates, BIOS update....
    Please help me :)

    Hi
I wonder from what Toshiba driver site did you download the drivers?
Mhhh this is s a Toshiba US model designed and delivered in US.
So you should use the Tosh US site for driver download.
Checking the US driver page I didnt find any XP drivers and this is a reason why I asked.
Anyway I would recommend updating the Win XP OS to the latest state. This means you should visit the Microsoft site and should run a update test!

Please note that sometimes several booting procedures are needed to install all patches

  • Satellite A660-10W with HDCP support

    Hello guys,
I have the A660-10W and want to download iTune movies in HD
It says I need to have a video driver with HDCP (Support?) but I don't know, nor do I understand what it is.
I would appreciate your help - as you have done extremely well in the past.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi
HDCP is a copy protection protocol.
This protocol prevents copying of high-definition movies.
If the system does not support the HDCP you will not be able to send the data to the device (TV, LCD) via HDMI or other ports like DisplayPort or DVI.
Microsoft Vista and Windows 7 use HDCP in computer graphics cards and monitors.
But if you want to watch high definition movies on external TV you have to ensure that both HDMI ports on TV and notebook would support the HDCP.
But it seems that Sat A660-10W does not support the HDMI port and therefore you will not be able to watch the HDCP protected HD movies on external monitors.

  • Equium L10: Windows Vista Beta2 - unknown device

    Hi
I have a Toshiba Equium L10 with Windows XP loaded as default but I installed VISTA Beta2 "public release" on it and given that it's only a 1.5GHz Celeron CPU with 512MB RAM, it ran extremely well but, I have one problem which I am hoping that I can get help with from the users in this forum and especially those who have the same/similar Equium model as I have?
Ok, after installing VISTA I checked in Device Manager and noticed "Unknown Device". After checking out the info given in it's properties, I have detailed it below:
Location: Microsoft ACPI Compliant Embedded Controller
    Value: ACPI\ACPI 0001 * ACPI0002
When I re-installed XP again, I went to Device Manager/Batteries/Microsoft SMART Battery, the entry for Microsoft SMART Battery Subsystem has "ACPI\ACPI0002\6&28CA2229&0".
Notice the "ACPI0002" info given for the 'unknown device' in VISTA is the same info given for the "Microsoft SMART Battery Subsystem" in Windows XP. So I am left wondering if the unkown device under VISTA is the Microsoft SMART Battery Subsystem and if so, why did VISTA not install the driver for it?
Can anyone help with find a driver for the "unknown device" in VISTA?
    Regards
    Brave

    Hi
The unknown device appears because the driver is missing.
Unfortunately, at this time you will not find any Toshiba supported drivers for the Windows Beta2. This is a beta version and not official on the market.
I think if this OS will be official supported so you will also find the needed drivers.

  • Bootcamp will not load Windows installer - No bootable device, insert disk then press any key

Hello, I recently decided to install bootcamp onto my 2009 27" iMac, I have done this before for other people's computers and I thought it would be no different for my own. However, on attempt to install the Windows disk, instead of starting the installer it only gives me an error message saying No bootable device, insert boot disk then press any key. I have tried ejecting the disk and then putting it back into my disk driver but it still seems to give me the same error. I went back into my Mac using Alt(option) key on startup and then set the startup disk as the Windows installer disk but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I also tried booting the disk directly from the startup disk menu is the alt(option) key on startup but that didn't do anything different either.
    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Also if it helps my computer is a
    2009 27" iMac running OSX 10.8.4
And my disk drive is an external drive because my internal SuperDrive went out.

That last point is your problem, Boot Camp doesn't really like booting from external drives.
You will have to do the following (assuming Boot Camp already partitioned your hard disk):
    1. Use Disk Utility to make a CD/DVD Master of the Windows Install Disc.
    2. Rename the resulting *.cdr file so it has an *.iso extension.
    3. Insert a USB Flash Drive (8GB or more) into a USB port and start Boot Camp Assistant.
    4. Make sure only "Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk" is checked.
    5. Follow the directions, selecting the USB Flash Drive as the destination, and the *.iso as the source.
You should now be able to boot from and install Windows from the USB Flash Drive. It's annoying, but I had to do that.
You will need a second flash drive of 1GB or more, or 700MB or more extra space on the install disk to place the boot camp support files, which will need to be installed.

  • Satellite A300-14S - After Windows 7 installation no modem recognized

    Hey guys, how are you?
Unfortunately, I discovered today that Modem is installed with drivers on Windows Vista 32-bit but does not work. However, I formatted my PC and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and: No modems at all! I don't know why device manager is unable to see and capture my device.
    I need help guys.
    Thank you.

  • Satellite U300U warmer after Ubuntu installation

    Hey guys,
I'm new to Ubuntu, but after switching from Windows Vista i have noticed that my laptop is quite a bit warmer than when i use windows.
I mean, i can tell just by physically feeling the laptop.
The palm rests and touchpad are alot warmer than normal.
When i run sensors my output is:
    acpitz-virtual-0
    Adapter: Virtual device
    temp1: +57.0C (crit = +104.0C)
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 0: +50.0C (high = +100.0C, crit = +100.0C)
    coretemp-isa-0001
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 1: +52.0C (high = +100.0C, crit = +100.0C)
These would be my idle computer temps.
How are these core temps? Normal? Bad?
Anything i can do to cool my cores more?
Are there any ways i can check if my fan's are working correctly?
    Thanks.

I have Ubuntu on a Toshiba Satellite L305D-s5881. It runs unusually hot ie /proc/acpi/FAN1/temperature shows
66 C on idling with nothing running and keeps rising. I have seen it go upto 75C in a matter of 20 mins.
The fan just does nt seem to turn on. It seems to be a bad DSDT ( according to experts on the Ubuntu forum). I am getting
errors in the dsdt.dsl compilation with the Inteal iasl compiler. This was explained to me as due to the BIOS not being
right in this version hence acpi doesn't seem to be be able to read the params at which the fan should switch on and
    thereby cool the laptop.
Do you have a solution for this problem? Vista runs much cooler 45-47C as shown by the SpeedFan Utility.
The key question is if Vista is able to switch the fans ON via acpi why doesn't this happen with Ubuntu ( 8.0.4)
. I spent a couple of weeks getting the Wireless (Atheros Chip) working after quite some effort. But if the laptop is going
to overheat then the only option is to remove the Ubuntu OS. Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Peter

  • Satellite L670-DX1 - after SP1 installation can't use memory card reader

    Hi
Since I have upgraded my Satellite L670-DX1 from Win7 64Bits to Win7 64 bits SP1 (2 days ago) I can't use my memory card reader anymore, it always says it is a bad card and I should better reformat the card, with any card.
Does anyone have a similar problem or even better a solution for me?
    Greetings

yes i have installed sp1 using windows updater, i have tried to let the laptop search for new drivers, and i have the newest, i can't role it back because some virusscanning software makes it fail (allthough i made them inactive after cutting the wireless connection and before putting the old configurations back)

  • Satellite U500 - Freezes after Windows 7 upgrade

    Hi
I am trying to upgrade from Vista home premium 64bit to Windows 7 home premium 64bit on a U500-119.
After the activation process was completed, I started Windows 7, but the Desktop screen did'nt appear and my U500 froze the "welcome" message. I could reboot Windows 7 in repair mode, but I cannot find which sw component prevents Windows 7 to start and work in normal mode. Did I used the wrong installation option, automated process instead of the personnalised one?
What should I do, restore Vista from HDD recovery, and re-install Windows 7, this time using the perconnalised mode?

    Hey
To be honest I also dont know which software are driver is causing this freezes but can you start the notebook in safe mode?
Furthermore its not possible to use the HDD recovery anymore because you installed another OS. In this case you need the Toshiba recovery disk to restore Windows Vista.
