Satellite A660 BIOS update error

Have been trying to run the update advised by Toshiba but encounter the following error:
"There is an error occured, please check below items.
BIOS version above 2.20
Battery capacity more than 20%
A/C is attached
Confirmed BIOS: TOSHIBA 1.80 09/14/10 listed on system along with SMBIOS: 2.6
Any ideas on what to do?????

Hi
As far as I know this error appears if you use a wrong BIOS version.
What Satellite A660-xxx do you have?
The Toshiba European driver page provides a BIOS v2.10 but only for Satellite A660 *PSAW9E* series.
Please check this!!

  • Satellite A660 - BIOS update error message

Just tried to update BIOS and get the following error message:
    Installing UEFI winflash 0.02
    The programme will be closed
There is an error occured, please check below items
    Bios version above 200
    Battery capacity more than 20%
    AC is attached
    Anybody got any ideas?

The exact same thing keeps happening to me...
As for the reason I am downloading it: the Toshiba service station is telling me "BIOS version 2.00 for the Satellite A660/A665 is available as a recommended update" So i go ahead and download it. BUUUT, during the install process it opens the Winflash utility and on the second step (right after 'load new bios') it crashes all the time 100% of the time and quits itself always on that same step no matter how I try the install... Also, YES I am sure it is the right BIOS version for my computer, YES I am running it as admin, and NO I do not speak techno fun talk.
I've tried using a separate Toshiba BIOS launcher: what I believe the original poster used, as I got the same message *except* the message i got was: "There is an error occurred (and it spelled that wrong BTW........ but I digress), please check below items. BIOS version above 190, AC connected."
I've tried rebooting fresh and going into the folder it downloaded into and same thing happens, and I've tried re-downloading it from Toshiba's website directly; also did the same thing and didn't work.
Currently I think my computer is on BIOS 1.9 or something like that, and the one attempting to be installed is 2.0. The computer does NOT have any password on any boot-up screen either.
I hope to get this resolved, especially since the laptop is fairly new and whether the update is needed or not, it should not be malfunctioning this way. I'm reluctant to call a technical service "hotline" as I rarely have good experiences with them.
    Please help!

  • Satellite A660 - BIOS Update Problem

    Hi
I have a Satellite A660 and my battery doesn't want to charge...it sticks to 0% and when I unplug the cord, the computer shuts down. After many computers restarting and failing finally understood what the problem was. The problem was my BIOS which is Version 1.20.
When I try to install the BIOS, I always get these three errors:
    BIOS Version Above 2.00
    Battery Capacity more than 20%
    AC is attached
    Thanks for your answers.

    Hi again
It seems your model is built for Canada. I could find it on the Canadian Toshiba site.
No information about revisions information of the BIOS in your model was provided though.
However, as it seems many hardware platforms are similar, however NOT always compatible, I looked at the US web which more generously provides revision information for the BIOSes and I found the BIOS which probably is similar or related to your BIOS, and there are in fact some battery-related fixes.
    Have a look here: Link: [http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2726536& rpn=PSAW3U&modelFilter=A660-BT2G22&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663#]
So this is a tricky case.
You may need to update to solve a problem with the battery but the update refuses because the battery does not have the proper energy level.
I suggest You ask your ASP / support for help with this!

  • Satellite R - BIOS update error message

    Hello,
I tried to update my BIOS, because I have the version 1.70 and the loudness off the fan decreases with 1.80-2.10. The problem is, I get an error: You have not given permission to execute the update. I started the program with the administrator-user so I do not know why this doesn't work. I know somebody else had that problem before, but they haven't searched for a solution.
I hope you can help me,
    hblockx

Have you tried logging into Windows using Administrator?
Also try reinstalling the Toshiba Value Added Package.

  • Satellite A100 bios update does not work correctly

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A100-153 PSAA9E and using Vista OS.
How do I install the new bios?? I run the .exe and nothing happens it shows that it extracts some files and then a notepad text appears that says something like this.
    ' INVENEC Pre-Flash Script for SanAntonio10
    ' 09/26/2006 Version 1.0.0.3
    On Error Resume Next
    '=== Declare Variables & Objects
    Dim WshObj, objArgs
    Dim WMIObj, chipset
    Dim InfoStr, WorkPath
    Dim VideoType
    Dim fso, oFile etc....
and then an error appears that says if the SanAntonion10 BIOS590MP.exe is installed correct.
    pls help

Hm, sounds a little bit weird. I would suggest you to do the following:
go to the drivers download page
    -> http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Download the latest common modules if available and RE-download the BIOS update.
Then try it again. If this doesnt help then perform a full system recovery, download the BIOS update and then it MUST work.

  • Satellite L750D - BIOS update 2.1 and sound problem

    Hello
I have little problem. I have been downloaded from your website BIOS 2.1 for Toshiba Satellite L750D (PSK32E).
I have been updated BIOS to 2.1 and start problem with sound. When I start game, music or something other only 2 first minutes sound plays properly but then it stops for no reason. No sound at all. I have been reinstalled op system but the problem is still there.
Sound works for 2 minutes only then is completely off. Every start application with sound plays 2 minutes and stop all quiet is. I have made a probe on my mother laptop its a twin laptop. I have been updated bios same problem 2 minutes and then no sound. My operating system is win 8 pro 64 my mother laptop is with win 7 x64 premium.
Two BIOS updated 2.1 ver on L750D and the problem is same. Please fix BIOS.

The BIOS seems to be very old. I was released nearly 1.5 years ago so to be honest I doubt its and BIOS issue.
I had the similar issue with my other notebook equipped with an Realtek sound card.
The sound appeared again after plugging and removing the headphone jack
But i could solve this installing the newest sound driver update from Realtek driver page.
But it seems that your Satellite does not support Realtek sound chip but Conexant sound chip.
Therefore the solution might not be useful for you.
However, I think you need to update the sound driver.I recommend you to google for Conexant SmartAudio HD driver and to test the newest available driver version.
In internet I could found the Conexant SmartAudio HD Driver version 8.65.9.51 for Win 7/ Win 8 / Win 8.1
Not quite sure if this is the newest version but you can test it.
In order to manually update your driver:
    1. Go to Device Manager (right click on My Computer, choose Manage and then find Device Manager in the left panel)
    2. Right click on the hardware device you wish to update and choose Update Driver Software
    3. Choose to select the location of the new driver manually and browse to the folder where you downloaded the driver

  • Dead satellite after bios update

    hi everybody,
a friend of mine  bought a new toshiba satellite A500-1GP laptop a month ago. Windows 7 pro 64bit preinstalled. also preinstalled: toshiba support software which - properly configured -  automatically searches for and installs critical patches and updates. last sunday this wonderful piece of software recomended a "critical update" to my friend - she is no expert but an experienced user who can tell the difference between a bios update (and avoid that!) and a security patch she agreed to download and install what she believed to be a security update.
of course she gave permission to a bios update being installed. during the update process the machine froze completely. she waited for three hours and then pulled the plug. guess what: the machine is now completely defunct. no lights no display no fan, simply nothing.
toshiba support hotline told her that her two weeks old laptop is not under warranty because that warranty does not cover "software problems" and bios updates are software updates. the repair company says a repair will most likely equal to buying a new laptop so here we are...
    my questions:
    1) the laptop is a Satellite A500-1GP (PSAR9E-01M00QGR) with a phoenix UEFI bios (the toshiba/phoenix bios update tool 1.1.26 is pretty radical - no warnings at all !!! it even tried to update my dell laptop as well, lucky me!). I have found some posts regarding older machines which can be reflashed by using an usb-floppy, a dos bios rescue disk and a key-combination (Fn+B or Fn+F...). is there a way to do that with an UEFI bios.
    2) does anybody out there have the same problem ?
    3) any chance to get toshiba to help us with that issue and prevent others making the same mistake by at least include some sort of warning into their bios updates ?
    thanks for your help !
    tony

Problem solved! It was a stick of RAM that wasn't seated properly. The laptop is working fine Thanks for all your help guys!

  • BIOS UPDATE ERROR of HP G6010EG

    Hello,
i have a problem updating my old BIOS Version F.1F to F.03, F.07 or newest F.08 (those are the only available bios versions for my Modelnumber on HP
I always get the error: "This Bios Version is not for your PC / Notebook" if i want to run the update directyl after Installation.
    Alternative:
Even if I copy the *.WPA (extracted from the downloaded bios-update *.exe installer ) file into the extracted folder of WinFlash64 directory (My Vista is 64-bit), and rename it to "BIOS.WPH" and run the flash util as administrator, i get the following error messages:
    First Error:
Part ID of System Bios and new Image File are different (system = AT8, file = AT1).
The System Platfrom may be different from the Image file. Are you sure you want to proceed?
I click "Yes" and then the Pc freezes with the Error message:
BIOS update failed! Failed to flash Bios image: Enable Chipset/Platform/FlashDevice failed!
    Incorrect funtion. Error code 1
    See the Help for troubleshooting.
    HP G6000
    Product: HP G6010EG
    p/n gh830ea#abd
    Windows Vista 64bit
I googled a lot and also read in the forum. I'm quite familiar with computer and never had such issues with a Bios update.
    Hope for help!
    Greetings
BTW this is the current BIOS-Info that Windows shows up:

Ok i stop forcing it and wait for help....
Your Idea of an error in what has been posted could also explain why i could not get the HP G6010EG Wireless-Lan to work with the drivers on the HP Driver Page:
    Atheros Wireless LAN-Treiber 2009-03-04 , Version3.00 A, 18.94M
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=2100&lc=de&cc=de&dlc=de&sw_lang=&product=3545...
I used a  driver software (freeware) with an external WLan-Card to automatically install the proper internal Wireless Lan Driver so that the Wireless-Lan of the HP G6010EG is working now...
Saidly this software does not automatically detect a proper BIOS... ;-) :-(

  • Satellite S55 BIOS update to 1.60 has a problem with UEFI keyboard backlight control

I recently updated my BIOS to version 1.60 from 1.50. The update went well. However now the setting for the keyboard backlight control will not hold my setting. I don't wish the backlight to illuminate as it will use up power. When I enter my UEFI and change the setting to "OFF", then save and exit, the keyboard illumination appears to operate as expected. However, following a Windows restart, or shutdown and boot, the UEFI setting resets to "TIMER" with "Backlight Lighting Time" set to 0. If I leave the mode set to "Timer", and set "Backlight Lighting Time" to 10, again the backlight appears to operate properly. But a reboot resets the time to 0. I thought possibly I was not saving and exiting UEFI properly. To test this, I change the setting for the "Internal USB3.0 Controller from "Enable" to "Disable", then also set the backlight control to "OFF", did a save/exit. I found that the USB3.0 remained disabled, but the backlight control again reset to "Timer". The BIOS update was provided by the Toshiba Service Station app as an optional update, so it should be the right one for my laptop. Any help would be appreciated.
My laptop is a Satellite S55-A5295 and is running Windows 8.1 with BIOS 1.60 and EC 1.20.

Thank you for your response. When I purchased the laptop, I also bought a 2-year repair plan with Geek Squad.  I took the device to the tech and it was his opinion that there might be a bug in the BIOS I installed.  I asked if we could retro the BIOS to a previous version and he told me he didn't recommend it as there are always risks when updating the BIOS.  He said it wasn't worth it as the device was stable with no other known issues besides the keyboard lighting.  He recommended I contact Toshiba support to document the problem.  This I did.  However, I was told by Toshiba I was beyond my complimentary support and would have to pay $49 to correct the issue.  I agreed to purchase the support.  The tech had me try various resets including the hardware reset button but to no avail.  At this point the tech informed me that I can always press "Fn-z" to cycle the lights off after boot/restart, and that my support time was ending.  I only hope that the problem is with the BIOS and not with hardware such as BIOS memory, and that a new firmware update will correct the problem. I appreciate this forum and the people that are trying to help others correct their problems.  Please keep up the good work.

  • Satellite L300 BIOS update problem: "That BIOS is not for your notebook PC"

I got Satellite L300 notebook and I want to update it's BIOS (current v1.50), so I've downloaded bios update v1.60-WIN and when I run extracted PS10160M.exe file - I get a message that "That BIOS is not for your notebook PC".
    What I'm I doing wrong?
ps: that BIOS update was automatically suggested after registration on Toshiba website via serial number.
UPD: seems like autosuggestion fail: Manual search shows that 1.60-win bios update not suitable for Satellite L300 PSLBCE model. :-(

Did you download the BIOS for the PSLBCE model?
You cannot use the BIOS from other L300 models, for example PSLB0E.
If you installed Windows yourself using a generic Windows Disc, you will need to install the Value Added Package from the Toshiba website. The BIOS Update requires the TVAP package to detect the machine properly.

  • Satellite L300 - BIOS update caused screen to go black

Got Tempro notice to upgrade Bios on Satellite L300. During upgrade installation, laptop rebooted by itself. Result is charge light on and power light on, fan running but screen is black. What do I need to do to recover the machine.

    Hello
Try this workaround posted by Akuma.
Normally you must not do all updates that TEMPRO says. You should only update the BIOS or drivers if you have an issue with the notebook.
A BIOS update is always a little bit risky.
In worst case you must go to an ASP. The technicians can try to reflash the ROM module or exchange the mainboard.

I've made big mistake. I tryed to install BIOS update for my SAT A-200. Everything went fine but after shuting down computer doesn't boot any more.
If I start it manualy power light comes on hard drive fleshes few time and thats all.
I've got this update with toshiba TEMPRO with Toshiba. I need some advise

Same here with Satellite A110. BIOS update from Toshiba site crashed my BIOS.
Using FN+B button while poweron you will enter Phoenix BIOS Recovery Mode. You need a Floppy Drive (intern or USB) and crisis recovery disk to flash firmware.
I was able to flash my bios to old version but are now stuck with a BIOS password - which I did not set.
So I need to go to ASP afterall.

I was updating my works laptop Bios and i had the power cord conected and (no battery, it was at home).
Anyway we had a blackout right in the middle of when i was doing the up date.
Now when the computer starts up all the lights come on and there is no display and then a long beep.
Any ideas on how i can fix this?
    It's still under warenty
    thanks
    Michael

    Hello
Sounds like that the BIOS update failed because the notebook doesnt start anymore
How can you fix this? Yourself you cant fix it I think because the ROM module must be reflashed or the mainboard must be exchanged but you can go to the nearest authorized service provider.
The technicians can check this and repair it. On the Toshiba website you can search for the nearest ASP:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Find an authorized service provider
    Good luck!!!
