Satellite A660 - Why do I need to shutdown when I want to restart?

First of all, let me say I'm portuguese and my english isn't perfect.
So, I recently bought a _Satellite A660-1CJ_ and I was very pleased with it in the first few days. Then some problems started to happen. However, with the help of other posts in this forum, most of the problems are gone: all of them, except for 2. I'll mention one now and the other later (after I know a bit more about what's really happening).
So, this is my problem:
When I _shutdown_ my PC and then start it up, everything goes as normal and windows starts.
However, if I try to _restart_ my PC (from the windows menu - instead of turning off and then turning on) it gets stuck with "TOSHIBA leading innovation" or something like that. Nothing happens. I have to press the power button and it quicky turbs off again, then I start it and is boots normally.
If someone know how to fix this please help me.

I cant understand it. I have also Satellite A660 in front of me since 2 months and everything runs perfect, no problems at all. I must say its one of the best notebooks I ever had.
When you shutdown the notebook, how long it takes until it start up itself?
Properly its BIOS related problem Have you disabled wake up on LAN in BIOS?
Try also resetting the BIOS to default settings.
If you have connected any external devices you should remove them. I could imagine that an external device is causing the start so you should remove all.

Satellite A660-18N hanging and needs hard reboot

My Satellite A660-18N hangs every other day about 2/3 times. I cannot press ctrl + alt + del and the mouse does not move. I have to hold down the power button to reboot it manually. It started about 2 weeks after I got it which was in September. I watch a lot of videos online (and offline) and usually after the screen freezes/hangs, the audio continues and stretches. I thought that this was a problem with IE8 so I switched to Google Chrome but this still continues. This problem also occurs offline. Also, after my laptop hangs, the fan speeds up so I thought it was an overheating problem. I bought a cooling mat a few days ago and the system still hangs. I'm not sure what to do now, can anyone help?

I'm having the same problem as the OP, with my A660-11M.
At the moment the display is freezing a few times every day and it's been like this for the last week. Before that, (almost) no problems for a few months after having similar problems.
So, it seems to be coming in bursts which is, needless to say, bizarre.
I too experiences it mainly while watching video (and similarly the audio would continue after the freeze) so I disabled Hardware Acceleration in the FlashPlayer settings after reading this post:

But this didn't help.
Then I thought it might be Chrome, so I switched to Firefox 4.0.1 but this didn't help either.
Now, I have disabled the Flash plugin to see if that works - too early to say so far.
BTW, these days the crashing is occuring mostly when I am NOT playing video - although I don't play much video anyway.

Why can I not deauthorize computers when I want to, rather when big brother apple lets me?

I know big borther apple wants to control my music, but why? I have either forgotten to deauthorize some old computers I got rid of, or had to re-format the ones I own. So why does big brother apple control when I can and cannot deauthorize my computers?

What are you talking about?
You can deauthhorize wheneever you like, however, you can only deauthorize all once per year.
If you need more than that then contact itunes support and ask.
No need to be so over dramatic.

You need only one Email address for creating an Apple Id and the Second Rescue Email address is optional and is required to reset password and security Questions in case you forget the Password or Security Questions. So if you have only one email address then still you can create your New Apple Id.

In that case I suggest you to print HP Network Configuration Page and make a note of the Printer IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway as printed in the page.
Next open Internet Explorer browser and type the printer IP in the address bar and press Enter key. This will open printer information web page also known as EWS (Embedded Web Server) page. Here click on Network. If the printer is in Wireless, select Wireless and one of the settings displayed talks about Manual IP configuration.
At this setting select Manual IP and enter the Printer IP, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. Then select Manual DNS and enter the following addresses
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
Save the settings and turn OFF and turn ON the printer. Try re-enabling the webservices and check the result,

Why does Prores need to render when sequence settings match footage?

I have imported some Prores footage that plays fine in the viewer window. When I drop it in a new sequence and let it match the settings it still shows up as needing to be rendered. Any thoughts?

If you're going out to tape, yes, if you're going to a file, well, not really. You can just render a file directly out of FCP to disk without rendering the timeline. Kinda dangerous if you can't see what you're outputting. Or you can output a reference file in a couple of minutes out of FCP and put it into Compressor and do the real rendering there with a lot more control. A reference file is a quicktime, using current settings, which is NOT a self-contained movie. I have a directory of these reference files that I can use on the machine for different renders and at the same time feel free to delete. They're very quick to create. Are you running FCS3? if so Share is yet another process for exporting.

Why does Firefox need a refresh when high contrast theme is selected?

Shouldn't it change content immediately when it detects a theme change? IE 11 does this and it would be a really nice-to-have feature, especially when it comes to accessbility constraints...

cor-el thanks for the reply, NoSquint seems quite useful but unfortunately it does not cover my use case. I have a use case where an external application is able to dynamically set the selected theme at the OS level, that is, set it to High Contrast Black or switch it back to the default Windows 7 Aero theme, so you should assume that i do not have any control over what is happening at the OS level regarding the selected theme, hence cannot "disable a high contrast theme in the Operating System".
I see that some basic UI elements such as the select box arrow handle and radio buttons change immediately, but the overall outlook of the page (e.g. background colors, text colors) do not. Could this be solved with me implementing a Firefox extension which would interface with the system "theme-changed" event and perform a re-rendering of the page at that point? I am currently trying to find some info on this...
