Satellite A665-S6054 OS reload???
uh, don’t laugh but instead of throwing away a 4-5yo Toshiba Satellite with an i5 that wouldn’t start (dead hard drive per tech support), I bought a new hard drive recently to do a quick fix so that I could give it to my mom. I now realize that I never had an OS recovery disk (it came pre-installed) to move forward with using it. Any suggestions before I burn more money I don't have towards trying to get it running again or do I just suck it in and toss it? Thanks!

Restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here.
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 73 of the User's Guide.

Satellite A665-S6054: backlight keyboard and Fn+z accessibility
Hey guys i ran into one problem which then led to another
Firstly i have been doing updates to my computer but only recently have noticed that the Fn+z doesnt control my backlit keyboard any more
Seeing that all the other functions (that i know of) are working correctly i tried looking for online help to reactivate the key combo
finding accessibility on one of the forums.
So i went to Start -> Toshiba -> Utilities -> Accessibility
Then this error message appears +"Toshiba Accessibility Error. This system, cannot use "Toshiba Accessibility"+
Then i have to click OK..... nothing happens
So i searched the site many times for my Toshiba Satellite A665-S6054 drivers downloads ect.
One place it asks for the Serial # and it says something about it not being valid when i am sure that i enter it correctly
I have been messing around on the site for TOO LONG
Please hep
KeykarHi
The Satellite A665-S6054 look like an US model.
Therefore the right driver page would be this:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp
I recommend also updating the BIOS since the BIOS controls the illumination.
You should also check if an VAP (value added package) update might help too -

Satellite A665 beeping and sound issue
I have a Satellite A665 and when I start the computer, there is a long high pitched beep initially and then as it goes for a short time through the start up process, prior to Windows, it beeps again. The beeping is coming from the bios, I believe since I have uninstalled the sound components in Device manager to test this. Once Windows 7 is completely booted up and the sound components are reloaded, the speaker icon vibrates and has a continuous loud hum. It is a high pitched hum that never goes away and the icon vibrates like crazy. I have reseated the RAM and am at an impasse as to what to do. It does sound like a BIOS issue but not sure what the next step may be. It is 2 years old and out of warranty.
Thanks!I have not tried updating the bios since the sound was so severe I doubted that would help but I may try that.
I uninstalled all sound devices in Device Manager and then rebooted and the sound was unchanged. That is what leads me to believe the issue is not with the sound devices. I had the speakers unplugged and the devices uninstalled and the sound remained unchanged. The only part the sound system plays in all this is that the sound icon (little speaker in the lower right hand corner) vibrates like crazy once Windows boots up and the devices are reloaded. If you turn up the sound on the speakers, the hum or beep is constant and gets very loud.
I have been repairing computers for over 40 years and I have never seen anything like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -
I can't install the drivers on Satellite A665
Hi every body,
I have a problem with my new Satellite A665 laptop.
I downloaded TV tuner driver but I can't install it on my computer but every time when Im trying to install it the computer ask me the security question and I agree on that.
After that the extraction for the installation file happened and suddenly something like owl pic appear for a moment and disappear after that without install anything.
The same thing happened when I tried to install the 3D staff that I downloaded from Toshiba site on my computer.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you> I paied my new laptop and open its cartoon, and switch it on, and just click on next...next, after that the windows 7 start to work.
Exactly. Every new Toshiba notebook is preinstalled with Toshiba recovery image and this recovery image contains all necessary drivers, tools and utilities so it is not necessary to install anything.
>... I did't pay any CD and install the windows from it.
I dont understand this sentence. Fact is that new notebooks are delivered without any installations CD/DVD discs. You must create recovery DVD alone. How to do this is described in users manuals document. Check it out.
Sorry but I must ask you now: what is your problem now? -
Satellite A665 - Create Recovery Data on External Hard Drive
Hi
I recently purchased my Satellite A665 and I am trying to create my Recovery Data on an external hard drive instead of CD's or DVD's. I am using Recovery Media Creator and it's not recognizing the attached Hard Drive in the USB and keeps asking me to attach the USB Flash memory. Anyone else having this problem or suggestions??
BettinaI double clicked on the icon (under Finder/Devices). My choices are: Open, Open Enclosing Folder, Eject Free Agent Go Flex Drive, Get Info, Remove from Sidebar. Do you have any other suggestions?
I also tried double clicking on icon, then going to File. Only choice was "New Smart Folder". -
Satellite A665 - S6086 HDMI help needed
Hello, I have scoured the forums and attempted to upgrade drivers to no avail. My specs:
Satellite A665-S6086
Trying to connect to an HP ZR30w monitor
using a Cable Matters DisplayPort to HDMI cable
Some background, I recently had to replace the hard drive and re-install windows (windows 7 - 64bit) I have re-installed the Intel display driver and tried to re-install the HDMI control manager driver. I kind of get the feeling the control manager doesn't install properly, it doesn't gvie me a completion message the way the other drivers did.Satellite A665-S6086
Downloads here.
The order of driver installation matters. Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled. Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here.

Long story short: My Toshiba Satellite A665-S6065 won’t boot.
♥ I tried the Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Recovery Disk.
♥ I tried the Toshiba Windows 7 x64 Home Premium OEM Recovery Environment
♥ I tried turning off the computer & holding down “0” until it beeps & enters the Recovery Partition.
♥ I tried turning off the computer & F8 to enter the Recovery Partition.
I've tried everything that anyone has told me to do...
So I “acquired” a Windows 7 x64 Home Premium OEM & tried to install from scratch when the message “No drivers found. Please insert/search for drivers to install before proceeding” came up or something close to that.
I need to reinstall Windows 7 x64 Home Premium OEM and the OEM disk I have isn't Toshiba Specific so it is asking for Drivers in order to install. Can anyone help me locate a list of the SPECIFIC DRIVERS I need to just get the OS in?
I've been to the Download Page for Satellite A665-S6065 but there are so many duplicate drivers, I'd be downloading all night!

Increasing Dedicated Video RAM? (Intel HD Graphics - Satellite A665-S6086)
My Satellite A665-S6086 Laptop uses Intel HD Graphics, and I wish to increase the dedicated video RAM.
Through dxdiag, it says I have 1696MB of Approximate Total Memory, but I only use 64Mb according to: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/analysis.aspx?name=The-Elder-Scrolls-V:-Skyrim&id=11231&se...
I went into the BIOS Setup -> Advanced, but was unable to find anything to alter the amount of Video RAM.
If anybody has a solution to this, please share it.
Thanks,
Chibichuba.
Solved!
Go to Solution....But you are not able to with the stock Toshiba motherboard....
Then you still cannot do it unless you replace the whole motherboard.

Satellite A665-14G - FN key not working
Hi,
I recently bought a Satellite A665-14G, everything was working fine.
Then suddenly the next day of the purchase date, the keyboard was not illuminated.
So I pressed the FN + Z keys combination, and nothing happened.
I tried to press other FN key combinations and none worked.
So i'm assuming that the FN key is no longer working.
What could have caused this and how can I restore its functionality?Hi
Do other FN + F buttons work correctly?
For example FN + F6, FN + F7 and so on.?
If yes then the FN buttons are OK and I think only the illumination has been disabled.
Usually in BIOS you can enable and disable the illumination.
Check this!
But if other FN buttons dont work, then you should reinstall the VAP (value added package) and Flash Card Support Utility.
Both tools can be downloaded from Toshiba driver page. -
Satellite A665-S6050 Windows 7 Home Premium Memory Upgrade will not boot
Hope there might be a clue to assist.
Checked Toshiba support for recommended memory to upgrade from 2X2GB to 2X4GB. Ordered Kingston KTT-S3BS/4G x 2 as recommended. BIOS recognizes the memory, but Windows will not boot. Tried Safe Mode and hangs after a few seconds. Tried Repair Computer, also hangs after a few seconds. Put original memory back in and it boots fine. There was a brief flash of a blue screen once, but no dump file to be found.
To me it seems as ifthe issue is Windows, but I do not know enough about this to say definitively. Just based on the percieved behavior when Windows trys to boot (hanging).
Any ideas appreciated before I go through return and try something else.
Thanks.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bithe ordered from Toshiba and there memory did not work ... the kit he ordered was the one recommended for his laptop from Toshiba and ordered from Toshiba
Yes he did. But he ordered the Kingston memory that Toshiba recommended as he said...
Checked Toshiba support for recommended memory to upgrade from 2X2GB to 2X4GB. Ordered Kingston KTT-S3BS/4G x 2 as recommended. ... I tried both of the Kingston modules recommended and neither worked.
I'm suggesting that he try the Toshiba part number (PA3677U-1M4G) suggested in the spec, which is made by Axiom.

Satellite A665 shuts down randomly
Hello, I have a Satellite A665 laptop that I got in December of 2010. Over the course of summer and fall of 2011, it began intermittantly shutting down. Sometimes it would do it right on startup, other times in the middle of use...and then it would work fine for weeks on end and not shut down once. When November of 2011 rolled around it started shutting down at random more frequently, to the point where it would not stay on for longer than a minute before dying. I sent the laptop in for repairs, and the hard drive was replaced and the laptop sent back. A month later it began shutting down again, and this time completely died--it wouldn't even try to turn on. So I sent it back in and this time the motherboard was replaced, along with the hard drive again. All seemed to be good, but recently it started shutting down at random when I turned on the computer. I installed the latest Toshiba system pack update (which said it fixed system crashes upon startup) and the problem went away for a few days, but today my laptop has shut down twice for no apparent reason, both times while it was on screen saver/going off screen saver.
I know my laptop is not overheating, because I always use it on my desk, and additionally, it has the extended battery pack on it, so the bottom of the laptop is always slightly elevated above my desk, allowing plenty of ventilation. The fan never has to run on high. I also know this is not a virus, because I've done plenty of virus scans on my laptop and it always comes up virus free. Additionally, it has a BRAND NEW hard drive and motherboard.
I use my laptop intensively for college and I simply cannot afford to have it shutting down on me when I need it. Anyone know what is going on and if I can fix it? Naturally it's out of warranty now, and I can't exactly do without it at school to have it sent off and repaired.First of all: Im glad that im not the only one suffering from this problem
Secondly: I opened up the bottom case and vaccuumed the laptop and then disabled hibernation/sleep mode.
this seemed to do the trick -
Satellite A665 Recovery? Big Mistake
Did a recovery using the recovery disk that came with my Desk Top.
Have had the Laptop for like 3+ years and can't seem to find a recovery disc for the Laptop, Not ever sure one came with it.
So right now I have my laptop all messed up with the wrong system disc.
Did my laptop come with a recovery disc? If not what can I do to get my Desktop off the Laptop? It is working okay but not sure that I am not giving up performance this way. Desktop is like 5 years old I think

Hello!
Well I have problem with my Laptop, recently the led on my Keyboard (like eco utility, pause/play media, etc... and the mouse pad led) don't function well... the only way to set on them, is going to the BIOS and setup the LEDS ON...
I wait for your help

Sometimes resetting the motherboard helps.
With the battery and AC adapter removed, close the Power switch for ten seconds.
Re-attach those, press the Power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press the F2 key while the Toshiba logo is displayed. Press F9 to restore the BIOS default settings, press F10, and then select Yes (Exit Saving Changes). The computer will restart.
