Satellite A665 - S6086 HDMI help needed

Hello,  I have scoured the forums and attempted to upgrade drivers to no avail.  My specs:
Satellite A665-S6086
Trying to connect to an HP ZR30w monitor
using a Cable Matters DisplayPort to HDMI cable
Some background, I recently had to replace the hard drive and re-install windows (windows 7 - 64bit) I have re-installed the Intel display driver and tried to re-install the HDMI control manager driver.  I kind of get the feeling the control manager doesn't install properly, it doesn't gvie me a completion message the way the other drivers did.

Downloads here.
The order of driver installation matters. Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled. Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here.
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 73 of the User's Guide.

  • Increasing Dedicated Video RAM? (Intel HD Graphics - Satellite A665-S6086)

My Satellite A665-S6086 Laptop uses Intel HD Graphics, and I wish to increase the dedicated video RAM.
Through dxdiag, it says I have 1696MB of Approximate Total Memory, but I only use 64Mb according to: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/analysis.aspx?name=The-Elder-Scrolls-V:-Skyrim&id=11231&se...
I went into the BIOS Setup -> Advanced, but was unable to find anything to alter the amount of Video RAM.
If anybody has a solution to this, please share it.
    Thanks,
    Chibichuba.
    Solved!

...But you are not able to with the stock Toshiba motherboard....
Then you still cannot do it unless you replace the whole motherboard.

  • Satellite A665-S6086 screen is blank

The keyboard got wet but not liquid appears to have gotten to the main board it all stayed in the keyboard.  When I turn the PC on, I had a screen but now whenever I turn it on the screen is blank and nothing ever shows up.  I have disconnected the battery and power plug, but that doesn't help.  My question is, if the keyboard is toast, will the screen not turn on unless I replace the keyboard with a new one?

The keyboard and screen should not be related, except the spill could have done more damage than expected. Important things to do when you spill is to disconnect all power, including the AC power cord and the battery. Afterwards, tilt, turn and gently shake anything else off of the computer. Leave the computer in a warm room for a couple days and let it dry out.
The worst things to spill on your computer are soda, beer and those cappuccino/frappachino mocha grande things from those coffee shops.
Hook up an external monitor and keyboard to your computer and see if you can get video on the external monitor. You're going to need to replace the keyboard anyway, might as well let the tech see what's going on with the screen too. It might be something simple or something that will make you consider getting the computer replaced too. But you won't know if you don't get it checked out.

    Hello,
I'm having an issue w/ our Toshiba.A full restore fixed the issue for a while but it came back. I was updating various firefox plug-ins. After the problem started, I tried to uninstall the updates one by one, but nothing helped. Restoring it again as I type this...
Here are videos of the problem.
    I did update the bios.

Laptop is just over one year old. Any help is appreciated.

Wild!  The videos are *much better than trying to explain that, lol.   Maybe it's the touchpad?   That cursor looks like it's tabbing around the screen so maybe there's a keyboard issue?  But take a look at this thread for touchpad issues.  Toshiba probably uses the same parts in a variety of models.  :-)

  • White Screen on Satellite A665-S6086

I bought this laptop about a year ago.  About a month ago, the laptop screen started turning white for no reason, randomly. It could be in the middle of the laptop being used or at boot.
Does anyone know what problem this is? Is this the driver, or the display chip itself?  How do I fix this problem?
What so disappointing is how this happens while the laptop is still fairly new and not abused at all?  I did a search and found out there are other people having the same issue.  Is this a product quality issue?
I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars sending it in to Toshiba repair center for repair, the warranty just expired a couple months ago.  I'd rather go buy another laptop, and I'm sure not to buy another Toshiba again.
    YQuy

I had the same problem IN November 2011.  Toshiba had me reset to factory settings refusing to repair until December. I got it back right before the warranty expired.  They repaired video wire.  Two weeks after warranty was up it started again.  Now the computer is just about useless.  It is more whitescreen than functioning.  Any videos white screen it.  Startup, shut down, random.
I too must now either pay for something they supposedly fixed or buy a new computer which to me will also NOT be a Toshiba.

  • Toshiba A665-S6086 Wi-Fi & Audio Problems

    Hello,
I have a Toshiba A665-S6086 computer and I'm having issues with the Wi_Fi and Audio. When using the computer sometimes the Wi-Fi will randomly turn itself off, and I will get a message saying that that Hardware Radio Switch has been turned off. Well the problem is of course, it turning off by itself. Other times it will turn on and off in rapid succession and a loud ringing noise will follow until it has either shut itself off or the Wi-Fi reconnects. I have installed the latest drivers, checked for viruses/spyware. Cleaned the registry, and made sure it's not anything along those lines causing the problem. I have tried other fixes as well but I'm not the most tech savvy person around and nothing I do seems to work. Any insight or help with this matter would be appreciated.

....I have installed the latest drivers...
You've installed the the latest drivers from where? If it was from Windows Update, or directly from the chipmakers, this may well be the source of your problems. You should only use the hardware drivers from your model's Toshiba download page.
Click on 'Start', type in  dev  , click on 'Device Manager', click on the arrow beside 'Network adapters', what is the exact name of your WiFi/Wireless device? Also, click on the arrow beside 'Sound, video and game controllers', what is the exact name of your audio/sound device (not HDMI)?

  • Can anyone help me find a list of the ESSENTIAL drivers I need for a Toshiba Satellite A665-S6065?

Long story short: My Toshiba Satellite A665-S6065 won’t boot.
♥ I tried the Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Recovery Disk.
♥ I tried the Toshiba Windows 7 x64 Home Premium OEM Recovery Environment
♥ I tried turning off the computer & holding down “0” until it beeps & enters the Recovery Partition.
♥ I tried turning off the computer & F8 to enter the Recovery Partition.
I've tried everything that anyone has told me to do...
So I “acquired” a Windows 7 x64 Home Premium OEM & tried to install from scratch when the message “No drivers found. Please insert/search for drivers to install before proceeding” came up or something close to that.
I need to reinstall Windows 7 x64 Home Premium OEM and the OEM disk I have isn't Toshiba Specific so it is asking for Drivers in order to install. Can anyone help me locate a list of the SPECIFIC DRIVERS I need to just get the OS in?
I've been to the Download Page for Satellite A665-S6065 but there are so many duplicate drivers, I'd be downloading all night!

    The system is under warranty.
    Send it in for repair.

  • Satellite A665 randomly freezes

I've had this laptop (a Toshiba Satellite A665) for about three years now, running windows 7. It's never acted up until this problem started a few months back, in November of 2013. Randomly during use, it would freeze, and would require it to be physically shut off. The problem persisted for a month before I got a new hard drive (unrelated to the problem, I just happened to need more space is all). It worked fine for a maybe month or so before the problem started up again. Within the last few weeks it's become nearly inoperable.
The freezes come in different 'types'. Sometimes the screen will simply lock up and become unresponsive to any keyboard or mouse input. Other times, the display will actually go black. Whatever media was playing at the time of the freeze will pause and continue to play one sustained note until I shut it down. The timing is also very random; sometimes it will freeze after being on for a few hours, othertimes it will go into a fit and freeze five times in a minute, and a few times it doesn't even get to boot past the windows 7 loading screen before the screen blacks out.
I've taken the laptop in to the Microcenter nearby and they ran diagnostics and scans for three hours and were unable to find anything wrong. Just earlier today, I completely wiped the hard drive and re-installed windows 7 from scratch in hopes that it might fix it, but since then I've had the problem three times.
The problem does not seem to occur in safe mode. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before, or has a suggestion for fixing it.

I took it apart a few days ago and cleaned out the heatsink and fan filter, as well as applied some new thermal paste. I know toshibas have a problem with overheating so I was thinking maybe it was a heating problem causing the shutdowns, but that didn't fix anything (besides the fact that my laptop now runs much cooler!) Still hoping someone can help me solve this.

  • Cannot update BIOS on Satellite A665

    Hi
I desperately need help with updating my BIOS on Satellite A665 as my battery is not charging and the site says for me to update BIOS but it is not letting me update saying battery is less than 10%.
Please someone help me as I have no way of using the laptop without AC power always present.

    Hi
What is your current battery level?
I think the BIOS update will prevent updating if the battery level is too low - this is a security feature.
In case your battery will not charge please try to disconnect it wait a second or two. Then connect it again.
    Still the same?
If so please let us know which BIOS version is in your system today.
    Thanks
    Tom

  • I can't install the drivers on Satellite A665

    Hi every body,
I have a problem with my new Satellite A665 laptop.
I downloaded TV tuner driver but I can't install it on my computer but every time when Im trying to install it the computer ask me the security question and I agree on that.
After that the extraction for the installation file happened and suddenly something like owl pic appear for a moment and disappear after that without install anything.
The same thing happened when I tried to install the 3D staff that I downloaded from Toshiba site on my computer.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you

    > I paied my new laptop and open its cartoon, and switch it on, and just click on next...next, after that the windows 7 start to work.
Exactly. Every new Toshiba notebook is preinstalled with Toshiba recovery image and this recovery image contains all necessary drivers, tools and utilities so it is not necessary to install anything.
    >... I did't pay any CD and install the windows from it.
I dont understand this sentence. Fact is that new notebooks are delivered without any installations CD/DVD discs. You must create recovery DVD alone. How to do this is described in users manuals document. Check it out.
Sorry but I must ask you now: what is your problem now?

Unfortunately this is very difficult because the top half of your post, your really the only one that can answer what the setup should be.  The adjustments are made based on the acoustics of your room and how everything sounds noone can really give you info on it because every house, and room has different acoustics.  The walls, insulation, carpet or bare floors, basement or main floor are just some examples of what can make a difference in sound reproduction.   By the way NHT (Now Hear This) are excellent speakers.  For bass and treble, the music I listen too requires a high treble content so I usually have it at 7 out of 10 but my bass is at 4 out of 10.   The sub base should be fine where it is.
Did your receiver come with an Audessy mic for calibration.  I would use that for a basic setup and go from there I am not sure if on your unit it will do frequecy but I think it did.
Your volume settings look fine again personal preference there is right or wrong.
For you listening mode Preset  you should have an auto setting I am at work so it may take a coule of hours for me to get back to you as I have to go through your manual and see what you would set it up with so please bare with me. I will list the info as I read it so it may not be in the order you have it.
I will have to make a second post since I can't go back and edit this one.

  • Satellite A665 shuts down randomly

Hello, I have a Satellite A665 laptop that I got in December of 2010. Over the course of summer and fall of 2011, it began intermittantly shutting down. Sometimes it would do it right on startup, other times in the middle of use...and then it would work fine for weeks on end and not shut down once. When November of 2011 rolled around it started shutting down at random more frequently, to the point where it would not stay on for longer than a minute before dying. I sent the laptop in for repairs, and the hard drive was replaced and the laptop sent back. A month later it began shutting down again, and this time completely died--it wouldn't even try to turn on. So I sent it back in and this time the motherboard was replaced, along with the hard drive again. All seemed to be good, but recently it started shutting down at random when I turned on the computer. I installed the latest Toshiba system pack update (which said it fixed system crashes upon startup) and the problem went away for a few days, but today my laptop has shut down twice for no apparent reason, both times while it was on screen saver/going off screen saver.
I know my laptop is not overheating, because I always use it on my desk, and additionally, it has the extended battery pack on it, so the bottom of the laptop is always slightly elevated above my desk, allowing plenty of ventilation. The fan never has to run on high. I also know this is not a virus, because I've done plenty of virus scans on my laptop and it always comes up virus free. Additionally, it has a BRAND NEW hard drive and motherboard.
I use my laptop intensively for college and I simply cannot afford to have it shutting down on me when I need it. Anyone know what is going on and if I can fix it? Naturally it's out of warranty now, and I can't exactly do without it at school to have it sent off and repaired.

First of all: Im glad that im not the only one suffering from this problem
Secondly: I opened up the bottom case and vaccuumed the laptop and then disabled hibernation/sleep mode.
this seemed to do the trick

    Hello!
Well I have problem with my Laptop, recently the led on my Keyboard (like eco utility, pause/play media, etc... and the mouse pad led) don't function well... the only way to set on them, is going to the BIOS and setup the LEDS ON...
    I wait for your help
    cheers!

    Sometimes resetting the motherboard helps.
With the battery and AC adapter removed, close the Power switch for ten seconds.
Re-attach those, press the Power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press the F2 key while the Toshiba logo is displayed. Press F9 to restore the BIOS default settings, press F10, and then select Yes (Exit Saving Changes). The computer will restart.
