Satellite C55-A: F key for brightness is not working

I have installed Windows 7 32bit in a (originally OS-free) satellite C55-A-1J9 notebook and I can't change the screen brightness.
I have installed various versions of the required Value Added Package but none of them worked.
Some didn't even map the Fn keys correctly from my keyboard to the control panel of this utility.
The current version I have is the vap-20130916115251. The Fn keys are in the correct order but F2-F3 aren't working.
What can I do?

Does this mean that ONLY FN+F2 and Fn+F3 dont work but other keys are do?
I think case I think that this problem is not related to the Windows 7 Value Added Package
Did you install the essential nVidia and Intel graphic card drivers available for the Satellite C55-A-1J9 PSCGCE series?

What is the product number?
Did anything change before this started happening?
Power the system on and press F10 about once a second to get into BIOS. Once you are in BIOS, go to the configuration tab (typically next to last tab) and set Action Keys to enabled. Save the changes, exit, and the system should reboot automatically. Test the brightness keys wihtout pressing the Fn key. I suspect they will not work in this state, but I want to rule out the possibilities while awaiting the product number.

Short key for copy does not work all the time now.

After I have installed the latest OSX - Yosemite, my short key for copy does not work all the time. It is infrequent how it works. I'm using the same keyboard that I have always used, my wireless logitech keyboard for mac. Please help.

I've plugged in my default mac keyboard and the short key copy still does not work.

Spacebar quick key for Hand tool not working.

I have a brand new imac intel i7 27" and have installed photoshop cs5, but the spacebar hand tool is not working. any ideas?
the hand tool and all other tools work, just the shortcut key of holding the spacebar doesn't work.

I found that when I quit Firefox the spacebar works again as a shortcut for the hand tool. However as soon as I sign in to my gmail account it stops working. This is so frustrating! Will there be a fix for this sometime in the near future?

App Store "Option key for purchase" does not work to reinsatll Lion

Hello,
I was able to re-install Lion from the App Store
by holding the "option key" while clicking on "Prchased" in the App store
Since I upgraded to 10.7.1 this does not work anymore !
Is it the upgrade to 10.7.1 that"s preventing a new download ?
or
Is it Apple that cancelled that access ?
One way or the other how do I reinsatll Lion ?
Note: I have too many partition on my drive, so it did not create a "restore HD" for LIon

My problem was resolved the following day, today. I went to the App Store then to Purchased. The associated button said Resume. Yesterday that had been totally unresponsive but today when I clicked it the download resumed for another minute or two and then Lion just installed. I presume that the system was just being pushed to the limit and beyond yeasterday.

OEM key for Win7 Pro not working on Win10

Upgraded a Windows 7 Pro computer(OEM-licensed) with Windows 10 Pro but the OEM license key(on the Microsoft sticker) does not work. The upgrade was a clean install from a USB-stick. Anyone who has the same problem?

Option Key for Boot Camp not working with New iMac Keyboard

Hi, I own a early 2006 Intel iMac. Recently, my wife complained that the keyboard was getting dirty. Basically I think she liked the new keyboard on the new Aluminum iMac better. We purchased it back in August and everything worked great. Oh I also had the beta version of Boot Camp installed. Everything worked great, hold Option down on boot and could choose which OS to go into.
Fast forward to now, purchased Leopard and love it! Decided to wipe the system and do a fresh install. Everything is installed (Leopard, Boot Camp, Windows XP) and working great, that is except when I press and hold the Option key at start up. If I have the new keyboard installed, the Option key does not bring up the boot manager. However if I plug the original keyboard in and hold Option, it works!!!
Ok I could see a problem if the new keyboard was NOT an Apple product. But it is and frustraiting as I can use the control panel to choose. This is a long round about method and does not make a happy wife with me. HELP!

Thanks for the info! I was about to call myself and I may still do so. I am hoping if Apple gets enough of these calls then maybe it will spur them on to get it done sooner. (Apple are you listening) I will do the same with the KB swapping, she will be happy at least she can still use the new keyboard. She types a lot and has be really happy with the new keyboard and its response.

Moved to MAC - Licence key for elements 12 not working?

I have photoshop elements 12, I had to download the trial as the download link had been deleted. I downloaded, installed and Adobe is saying my licence key isn't for Adobe photoshop elements 12?

HP Pavilion 17" AMDA10 F2 F3 brightness control not working after win10 install

After installing windows 10 my brightness controls F2,F3 stopped working. I found this out because after the install my laptops display was super bright and i tried to tone it down using the function keys.I did download the AMD catalyst control and can turn it down there, but my function keys for it are not working, is there a planned update to fix this issue? Have you tried in the Device Manager to update the driver that is currently installed? In the device manager try selecting find new hardware. At this time, I have a document to assist with Using the Function Keys. You can uninstall your keyboard driver, restart your Notebook, then reinstall the drivers. The HP Support Assistant can help you. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. Here is troubleshooting when drivers are not available yet. I was right. You have no graphics driver installed for the Intel HD graphics adapter.
I am very surprised you were able to install the nVidia driver because usually you get an error that states you need to install the Intel graphics driver first.
Once you install this driver, the Microsoft Basic Display adapter should be replaced by an Intel HD graphics adapter and you should be able to adjust the screen brightness.
Make sure you have installed this Intel chipset driver first and reboot. If you have done this already, you can skip this step.

I cannot believe that you are not able to install the LAN driver on this A100 Satellite!
However, the Sat A100-784 supports an Intel 82562GZ 10/100 Mbit (Ekron) Lan chip.
If you want you can download and install the Lan driver from the Intel page:

There you will find the drivers for the Intel 8256x Ethernet Controllers

Few keys in Keyboard is not working.

Few days back my laptop( HP Pavilion G6) screen got froze(Laptop starting but no display, caps key blinking 3 times) so i checked on internet and come to know its may be because of error in memory module. So i put my RAM in other slot. Now my laptop started but a new issue occured.
Now my caps, B,N ,Del keys in keyboard is not working. I am using Windows 7(64 bit)

Please find the steps given below might help you to fix your issue.
Go to device manager & uninstall the keyboard driver and restart the unit.
Please update the driver for Bios.
Try doing a system restore to the date where unit was working fine.
Open command prompt type the letter and check if does not work you might have to replace the keyboard itself.
Let us know how it goes!
