SATELLITE C55D-B5212 Ram Upgrade?

I really would like to know if I can upgrade this specific model of my laptop. I want to put more ram into my system (8 or up to 16 if possible). So if someone could get back to me on this, it would really help. And if anyone knows if Toshiba or a basic company like Best Buy would do the upgrade for me, that would also help a lot!

I want to upgrade my Toshiba Satellite M100-222 RAM to maximum. My laptop supports 4 GB of RAM.
Laptop's current RAM is factory default I bought my laptop with 1 GB RAM:
2x Hynix HYMP564S64BP6-C4 - 512 MB (DDR2-533, 266 MHz)
Please advise... whether to purchase these memory modules:

PC2-4200, DDR2-533 or PC2-5300 667 Mhz - ?..

I did exactly this. I took my laptop apart and there are 2 slots for ram, but if I put another 4GB RAM the laptop turns on for 5 seconds and then turns off. I already tried 3 different brands, Samsung, Kingston, and Crucial. Why is there 2 slots if It won't start when I use them. I really need help.

Either that ram is not compatible or the board cannot take that much ram. Your support page is here - http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200009173Your spec sheet is here - http://support.toshiba.com/support/staticContentDetail?contentId=4006598&isFromTOCLink=falseYour specs show:• 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz (not user upgradable) • 2 memory slotsNot sure if that means you have to take it apart to reach the memory (not user upgradeable) or if that means the board will not work with more memory. • Satellite A110-174 - RAM upgrade questions

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite A110-174
I want to buy some RAM module (it uses ddr2 ram, 533 MHz), but it seems impossible to found them.
I can only find 800 or higher frequencies.
Can I use them or they will give me problems / incompatibilities?
Can I mount 1 module or it's necessary to buy 2 modules?
Will the motherboard read up to 4Gb or it is necessary a Bios update?
    Thank you

Satellite A110-174 can be upgraded up to 4GB RAM.
In order to use a RAM dual channel feature, two modules have to be used.
This means 2GB RAM module in each slot.
The 4GB RAM limitation is caused by Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset
http://ark.intel.com/de/products/27857 as well as the Intel Core CPU T1350 http://ark.intel.com/de/products/27243
The CPU supports the 533Mhz FSB (front side bus) and the RAM modules will work max at 533Mhz.
So you should use the DDR2-533 modules
But sometimes you should be able to use the DDR2-667Mhz modules. In such case the 667Mhz module speed will be clocked down to 533Mhz

  • Satellite C55-B5299 RAM Upgrade

Hello all, I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite C55-B5299 and I would like to increase its RAM for better performance. On a few review sites, however, it is stated that the user is not able to upgrade the RAM in this laptop. So, is it possible to upgrade the RAM? If so, what is the maximum RAM it can hold, should I not exceed 1333 MHz, and is there any particular brand that would be best to use? Thank you!

i would like to add a optical drive I need the part number
Assuming you have the model in the Subject...
    Satellite C55-B5299 (PSCMLU-02801M)
    Satellite C50-BBT2N11 (PSCMLU-03801F)
That second computer (in the same part-number family as yours) can be ordered with the optical drive. Try asking for the part number of the drive in that model.

  • Satellite A110-195 - Ram upgrade questions

    Hello
    I have Toshiba Satellite A110-195
    My questions are:
1)Whats the maximum size of ram per slot,1gb or 2gb?
I have 2 rams on my laptop right now 512 MB each.Am I able to replace one of them with a 2gb ram?
2)Right now on my laptop I have DDR2[PC2-4300] rams.
Any DDR2 SoDimm ram will work?
Or the ram must be DDR2 and exactly PC2-4300.

Notebook supports the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset
    http://ark.intel.com/products/27857/Intel-82945GM-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller
According to Intel page, the chipset handles max 4GB RAM.
This means that you can use 2 x 2GB RAM or one 4GB RAM module.
    The chipset supports DDR2-400 / DDR2-533 / DDR2-667 RAM modules

  • C55D-B5212 Memory Upgrade?

I know that the footnote states that the memory is "not user upgradable", but is there ANY way to increase the RAM?
    HELP!

after seeing this, I decided to pick up a 4GB stick of DDR3L-12800, which is what the laptop came with, popped it in, and poof, booted right up, so you can upgrade it, you just have to pay a few extra bucks and get DDR3L, the difference between the two is DDR3L runs at a lower voltage than DDR3, thats why this model doesnt support it, you can get a 4GB stick for around $30 on eBay.
As far as getting to the slot, its no more difficult than popping off a RAM panel on another laptop, just remove all the screws on the bottom, and pop it off, and everything is right there, hard drive, RAM, wifi adapter, etc.. and when you are done, just snap it back. and this running at 8GB now did improve performance on some things, but not all, remember this was designed for battery life and portability, dont expect to win any performance records.

  • Satellite M50-108: Ram upgrade from 512MB to 1GB

My Laptop model is a M50-108! But i cant see info about this model anywhere, what kind of memory would be best to add to my computer? (512 MB one )!
    Message was edited by: naturecalls

    Hi,
you surely mean the type because to ask which size would be funny. :) (more is always better)
The right type for that machine is DDR333 and the maximum amount of RAM you can install is 2GB (2 x 1GB memory module).
It does not matter which manufacturer but I can tell you from my experience that a well known brand (kingston, crucial, samsung) is always better then a no name. And try to use two absolutely similar modules because of performance and compatibility reasons.
    Hope I could help.

  • Re: Satellite A660 - No boot after RAM upgrade

    I have just gotten 8GB of RAM for my Satellite A660, it is Corsair CM3X4GSD1066 4GB PC-8500 (1066MHz) 204-pin SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM CL7.
The system posts fine and the 8GB is showing up in BIOS but once its clears post and goes to load Windows it stops on the black screen, the cursor flashes a few times then it stops. I have left it for about 5 minutes and it wont boot through.
    Please Help.
I have replaced the 4GB sticks and it works fine.

    Hello
For me it sounds like that the modules are not compatible or have defective sectors
As Akuma wrote, such performance modules are risky in notebook because you dont have any options to change the latency values as on desktop computers. So I always prefer Kingston modules for notebook RAM upgrade.
But before you buy other modules, try a BIOS update and load the default settings.

  • Satellite C55D-A-149 - Windows 8.1 depressingly SLOW

Hi, I was asked by Toshiba USA to post this here as my laptop is an European model.
I recently got this laptop, so it is still new and so is the installation.
The laptop is TOSHIBA SATELLITE C55D-A-149. I realise that this is a budget laptop and the processor is fairly weak. But still it came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 and afaik isnt Windows 8.1 optimised for slow laptops/tablets but mine is performing really poorly.
Startup is slow, file manager is slow, minimizing a window takes forever and so on.
In order to find out where the problem lies I ran a cross platform benchmark on my machine i.e. on Windows and on Ubuntu linux. I used a live CD to run linux without installing it. The benchmark tool used was Geekbench3: http://www.primatelabs.com/geekbench/
The results of the benchmark can be seen from here: http://browser.primatelabs.com/user/87755
And it is clear how lagging Windows 8.1 is.
What is the reason for this very poor performance?
If Windows 8.1 really is the problem would it be better for me to remove this and install Windows 7? But I dont want to lose my genuine copy of 8.1 as this is what ensures the next free Windows 10 upgrade. Is there any way to partition the hard drive and not lose the recovery partition?
    What are my options now

    Hi
From my point of few the system is muddled up and i would recommend you to reset the Win 8.1 system to the default settings
This is not very complicated but before doing this, I recommend you to backup your personal data.
Microsoft has published short instruction how to do that. Take a look here:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
I would recommend you to test the first option without affecting the files. In case this does not solve your issue, check the 2nd option: Recovery.

I can't find a dv5-1198de but I did find a dv5-1198er which should be similiar. It states up to 8 gb of ram. HERE
I would try www.Crucial.com for suggested memory ,you can use their Scanner Tool to let it detect what you have and what you can upgrade/replace with.

First go to the RIM web site and look to see if they have an uninstaller for the device you had.  Some times a reinstall of the application and then running the uninstaller is required for complete removal.
If no uninstaller is available, then you will have to use Spotlight to find all items with 'Blackberry' and 'Rim' in the titles.  I would also download EasyFind and use that to locate such files.  Often it will locate items that Spotlight misses.
    Ciao.

  • HP Envy 13 1030nr. Windows 7 64-bit. RAM upgrade help.

I just purchased a RAM upgrade for my Envy 13 and I was trying to figure out how exactly to access the memory module.  I couldn't find a youtube video for the Envy 13 and reading the maintenance manual provides only partial instructions to access the memory module.  It tells you what you need to do (Disconnect the TouchPad cable 2 from the low insertion force (LIF) connector on the system board) but not how to do it without damaging the computer.  I don't want to permanently sever a cable or anything so I'm looking for help via a link to a video or more detailed instructions on exactly how to safely access the memory module.
I was under the impression that this would be a quick replacement, but the more I read the manual, the more I think that this is going to be a little more complicated than opening up the bottom and removing the current RAM chip and replacing it with the one I have.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

    Here is the Manual:
    Manual
Memory is indeed on the motherboard and getting there requires nearly complete disassembly. See Page 4-26. Not sure how this qualifies as "easy" and if you have not done this before you should get some help. And yes, keep careful track of those screws.

  • Hard Drive and RAM upgrades for latest 15" MBP

I'm minutes from ordering a new MBP. Only concerns are whether I get hte Apple upgrades or shop around.
    I like this Hard Drive...
    http://www.compu2000.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6433
    And this RAM upgrade...
    http://www.a-power.com/product-10937-311-4
If these are equivalent to the apple options I can save hundreds and get a 320 GB drive, which will make a great portable.
So, does my plan hold water?

You're on your own for support when you do your own upgrades like this, but generally speaking, it works fine.
Note that HDD is less risky than RAM. With RAM you run the risk of unstable behavior that is tougher to diagnose. That said, a quality RAM upgrade and some initial testing with any of many available tools is as good as a factory build.
HDD upgrades are less risky, and I've upgraded (well, replaced after HDD death) ones in my MBPs many many times. I crunch my hard drives more than normal and have to generally replace them about every year. Some of the MBPs don't make this easy, and prepare to get all sorts of cozy with little 0 and 1 sized Phillips screwdrivers and some T6 as well, but it is doable (just not quite for the truly faint of heart).
Again, you're on your own for support once you do this, so weigh that in your decision.
