Satellite C645: Are any changes in cooling strategy in BIOS v1.90?
Hi,
does anyone flashed BIOS from v1.60 to v1.90 recently posted.
If so, have you noted any changes in the behaviour of the CPU fan cycles?
I mean, does the anoying problem of CPU fan turning on from 0% to 100% RPM every 30 seconds (aprox.) have changed or remains the same?
My laptop model is C645-sp4131L (14 " - P6200 @ 2.13 Ghz, Intel video on board, 2Gb RAM).

The last letter in the model number of my laptop C645-Sp4131L symbolizes that is approved the be sold in the Latin American region. The thing is that the latin american web portal of Toshiba has not support or comunity forums.
So I had only two choices to post the question, the USA support forums where all the others Satellite series except the A series share one forum, or the european forum where at least has a special sub-forum for the Satellite C series.
Anyway I will try to post there too and maybe as you say someone has used that BIOS.
Regarding you sugestion in my experience the Windows 7 power plans doesn't change the behaviour of the CPU fan cycles. I think that the thermal tables are hard coded into the BIOS.

peteThere is a presumption in Oracle that we manage our transactions properly. It should not occur that we find ourselves in a situation where we do not know the status of our transaction. A transaction is a set of steps along a predetermined path. In all but the most complicated transactions we should be able to trace all possible routes through the transaction and consequently know all possible statuses.
As a general rule, if you find yourself at the end of your transaction and you've handled all the exceptions then you should issue a commit. If you find yourself in a situation in which you need to undo any changes then you should issue a rollback. Don't bother trying to establish whether there are any changes: just do it.
SQL%ROWCOUNT has no scope beyond the previous SQL statement (it's not cumulative). Consequently, it's not a very reliable guide to the total state of the whole transaction. Besides, even if SQL%ROWCOUNT equals zero (e.g. an update that affected no rows) you still have a resource lock on the table. No other session can execute DDL on that table until you issue a commit or rollback.

Just read that it isn't really possible to download music from other countries (OK, they don't want my money? I don't get it...) Anyhow, just wondering if there are any changes lurking about regarding this issue.
It's because of the record companies, who because of the differences in company and contracts from country to country do not want to allow cross-border sales. And no, there's been no movement on the issue that I've heard about, and frankly I don't expect any in the foreseeable future, though I hope I'm proved wrong.

How to change the cooler on Satellite M30-344?

I´m pretty lucky with my Satellite M30-344 but since 2 months the cooler starts to get louder every day. Is it possible to change the cooler on my own and how expansive is the original cooler? Do you know something like a tutorial for the changing process?
Originally 2 256MB Ram pieces is installed. Now I´m thinking about a bigger RAM piece. As far as I know the are only 2 slots for the RAM or am I wrong. Is it possible to install two 1GB RAM pieces???

The replacement of the internal devices is not easy and a little bit risky.
I would not recommend replacing the cooling module yourself.
You could damage something on the board and as you know the motherboard is a one of the expensive parts of the notebook. The manuals are not published because such documents are only for the technicians and service partners.
Therefore I think you should ask a service partner for the help because these guys have more experience in such procedures.
I found a online site with the memory modules for Satellite M30-344

It says that its possible to update the memory to max 2GB. Therefore I Think its possible to use 2x 1024MB module. -
Reset Release Strategy for any change in the Purchase Order
Hi,
Is it possible in SAP standards to reset release strategy for even minor changes in the Purchase Order irrespective of whether it is value change or any change in the text or Purchasing group change or whatever it is?
If so, where do we need to make the configurations.
I have seen in some thread about resetting the release strategy for decrease in Purchase Order value.Even that was possible through some BAPI.

My Bridge CC opens in a locked mode - I cannot make any changes (dump cache) - it says "other instances of Adobe Application Manager are running, which must be closed." I have to force quit Bridge to get out of it. I tried to uninstall Bridge and re-install it but it did the same thing. Any ideas where to go next?
The fact that I uninstalled Bridge and reloaded it has me concerned as to what to do next.?You need to force quit all other (real or fake) instances of the Application Manager. Instructions differ between Mac or Win.

Release Strategy to be reset for any change in purchase order
Hi Experts,
At present the release strategy configured is for any change in the value of the purchase order, the release strategy is reset. Now the the client wants that for even any text change of a word, text, quantity, value, addition, deletion the release strategy should be reset.
Can any one guide to configure the release strategy for any change. Also please provide the list of standard parameters/scenario (E.g. change of price, change of quantity etc) for which the release strategy can be configured to be reset.

I too have the same problem. I tried with Changeable indicator "1". The system does not allow to make any change to the Purchase Order even after the first level of Release. But the requirement is that the system should Reset the Release Strategy for even minor Change in the PO.

I am working with the color profile ProPhoto RGB in both Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC. In preparing for my first Blurb book I have tried to generate pictures in sRGB in Lightroom, using the Soft Proofing feature, but there are no changes at all. Then I transfer the same pictures into Photoshop, change the color profiles and the results are dramatically different.
What can I do to achieve the same results in LightroomWith an average monitor what you see on-screen is already soft proofed to sRGB (or something very close to it), because that's all the monitor is capable of displaying anyway. So soft proofing to sRGB won't tell you anything. You won't see any difference.
In Photoshop it sounds as if you assign profiles. That's not the way to do it. If you convert correctly you won't see any difference. Same principle as above: there may be clipping in the process, but what you see on screen is already clipped, so no visual on-screen difference.
With a wide gamut monitor soft proofing becomes slightly more useful. But still you won't see any changes occurring outside Adobe RGB. You'll get a better idea by keeping an eye on the histogram. Ideally, all three channels should taper gently off towards the endpoints. If any one or two channels are backed solidly up against the endpoint, on either side, that's gamut clipping.
If Blurb gave you a real profile, one that reflected their actual printing process, you could soft proof to that. But apparently they don't. -

Any changes in workgroup manager I make are not working!
First off I know this isn't the place to vent, but I am so sick of all the bugs loaded in the directory system of mac. I think Apple has produced a horrible product and it is always one problem after another. I am experienced with all the other directory systems and I firmly believe Open Directory is the worst!
Ok, now on to my problem. Our set up includes 6 Mac OS X 10.6 servers. 1 is the Master OD and the others are all replicas. We recently upgrades the servers from 10.5 and ever since I have been having problems with OD. During the upgrades I took an archive of the system, decommissioned the Master and all replicas, then after the upgrade I restored the archive and replicated all the others. Things worked fine for a couple of days. Everyone can login and I could create new users and make changes in workgroup manager. After a couple of days I could no longer make any changes in workgroup manager. I can physically make the changes and create new users and save with no errors, but when I try to log into the file server with the new user or use the changed password, it doesn't work. No errors in the logs that I looked in.
Here is something weird: When I log into workgroup manager using the local administrator account, I do not see the changes I made in workgroup manager. When I click the unlock button and log in as the diradmin I can see the changes.
Any, ANY, help would be greatly appreciated. I've been working on this for weeks now. Please don't advise to decommission the Master and rebuild the directory. I already tried that about 10 times with the same result.

To test to figure out of I'm right about replication being the source of the problem, and if so which replicas aren't up to date, use the "ldapsearch" command to compare the data in the master vs. the various replicas. For instance, to check whether a new user named "fred" has shown up in the server at serverIP, run the command: ldapsearch –LLL –x –h serverIP –b cn=users,dc=masterserver,dc=example,dc=com “(uid=fred)”
(replace serverIP with your server's address, "dc=masterserver,dc=example,dc=com" with your search base, and fred with the actual account name). Try this on the master and the various replicas, and see which (if any) of the replicas are out of sync.
If some/all of the replicas are out of sync, check /var/log/slapd.log on the problematic replica(s). It's visible in Server Admin -> servername > Open Directory in sidebar -> Logs in toolbar -> LDAP Log in the View pop-up at the bottom of the window.
Also, check the replica status in Server Admin -> Open Directory -> Settings -> General.
Also, on the problematic replica(s), check the replication connections: "sudo lsof -i | grep ldap" should show an entry starting with "slapd" and ending "->masterserver.example.com:ldap (ESTABLISHED)". If it doesn't, you may have some sort of network connectivity/firewall issue.
If you want to get even more detailed, running "sudo tcpdump host masterserver.example.com and port ldap" on the replica will let you spy on the content of the replication connection. -
In iTunes under my device, under the apps tab, Why are all the options shaded out? I cannot make any changes, select any apps or do anything with the apps. I was able to load a few apps and sync but cannot sync anymore to my phone.

In the iChat Menu you only have access to Status.
Is an item ticked in the list ?
Is this a green (Available item) or Red ( an Away one) ?
Can you access the Accounts option ? (Sitll in the iChat Menu)
Is anything in here ticked ?
In the Window menu any Logged in account should appear in the list (Between the Next Chat and File Transfer items)
It would be useful to know which version of iChat this is.
If no account is ticked (iChat Menu > Accounts) or not showing in the Window Menu, plus you cannot determine the Status and you cannot access the Preferences then you need to access your Home Folder/Library/Preferences
As the Library in the Home Holder is Invisible in Lion you will need the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option (you can use it in earlier OS versions if you want)
Type in:-
~/Library/Preferences
Find the file called com.apple.ichat.plist
Drag it to the Trash and Restart iChat.
This will lose all the settings in iChat that you have changed from Defaults but there is no way around this.

There are no "Cancel" or "OK" buttons at the botton of my "Preferences" box that allow me save any changes that I might mak in the "General" window. The box opens without problem and changes can be made in the "General" window however, these changes cannot be saved. If I close the window with the "X" in the upper right hand corner and then reopen it, any changes made are lost. I'm running Windows XP and would appreciate any help that I can get.

Oh good, that one's pretty straightforward. When you make that change in the pane, the OK is the active button. For example, I just quickly changed mine to "Import CD and Eject", and you can see that the OK button is blue in my screenshot:
... so to make that setting stick, all you need to do is to hit your "Enter" key, and that should press the OK.
Unfortunately, I don't have any music in the iTunes library on the PC I'm working from at the moment. So I can't check my "Automatically download album artwork" checkbox.
Ed, could you check for us which item is active after changing that setting? (If it's the OK button, then hitting enter should press the invisible button, just like "When you insert a CD".)
Changing "Import Settings" is trickier, because after you get out of the "Import Settings" subdialog, the "Import Settings" button is active. So you then have to hit the tab key precisely five times (to get OK active again) and then hit Enter to get Import Settings changes to stick. -

Connect your device to iTunes and in the the window were all the apps are greyed out make sure the 'Sync Apps' checkbox (top left corner) is selected.
