Satellite C650/01M - Question about model

I just purchased a C650/01M for my parents. When I tried to find the model number it doesn't seem to exist. There is a similiar model on Canada and europe site but not the exact model. It was a D*ck Smith 'exclusive'. Perhaps that is the problem?
The model (SKU) is PSC12A-01M00T
I would really appreciate any ideas where to find. And what do I do for warranty if the model doesn't exist??

Hey,
Properly the notebook is too new and at the moment there are no updates available. In your case I would check the page few days/weeks later, have a look on it from time to time.
But if you need any updates you can also download it from other PSC12A series. Important is just this part of model number, they will work on every PSC12A model I think. :)

  • Satellite U405D - Several questions about overheat/disassembly/upgrade etc.

    Hi there,
I have several questions about my one year old Satellite U405D-S2910
1- When it works, after 2-3 hours (I usually run small programs like safari, msn messenger and bsplayer) CPU gets 85-90 C (178-188 F). When I play Age of Empires 2 (Come on, its an ancient game) like 2-3 hours it shuts down itself. What could be the possible reason?? By the way, let me inform you about the climate of the town I live, temp 30C - humidity 25-35% (nowadays).

2- I'm going to disassemble my laptop in order to clean its cooling units (I think reason of overheating is this). It doesnt seem like a desktop, so complicated. Ive seen a step-by-step disassembly(btw, its so hard to spell disassembly:) I think Im going to do this. What are your suggestions about it? any experiences could help me?
3- My laptops Ram memory consists of 2X2GB PC5300 DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM, I want to replace it to 2x2GB MACH XTREME DDR2 1333MHZ CL9 NOTEBOOK RAM. Should I do it? Does it fit my laptop, work stable? any suggestions?
    ps. mainboard chipset AMD M780V
4- finally :) , Should I use 64 bit OS or 32 bit OS (win7)? what OS would you use if you were me?
    Thank you.

    Hi buddy,
1+2. I think everything is related to a higher internal temperature and you should clean your notebook using compressed air spray. Therefore its not necessary to disassemble it, just blow gently and shortly the air through the notebook. You can buy such compressed air spray from every computer store I think and it takes only 5 minutes.
You can find an useful article about this here:
    3. In my opinion you should forget this update! The RAM speed is related to FSB of CPU and as far as I know on Satellite U405D its 667MHz so its already the fastest RAM that you can have. Save your money and buy a bigger HDD or in best case an SSD that can really improve the performance!
    4. In my opinion the answer is clear: Windows 7 64bit.
    Only a 64bit OS support full 4GB RAM. ;)

  • Satellite L850-Y3110 - Question about International warranty

I bought a Satellite laptop L850-Y3110 in India which has an international warranty.
There's a problem with it now, it's cd drive is faulty and I took it to an authorized service centre in Newcastle.
It needs the cd driver to be replaced, but now Im told Toshiba wont give the part cause I didn't but it in the UK, and the person told me to go back to where I bought it from and fix it there, I wont be going back there any time soon, so thats out of the option.
My question is what's the point of the International warranty if it's going to have these kinds of drawbacks.
When I bought a laptop I wanted one which would be in warranty internationally cause Im a student going out of the country for studies, thats why I bought this one as it has international warranty and my laptop still is in international warranty.
What am I to do now?

    Hi
Im not quite sure about the notebooks sold in India but the notebooks sold in Europe are covered with at least 1 year European standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
    http://www.toshiba.eu/services/standard-warranty/
This warranty does not cover repair in other countries but in case of hardware malfunction you have to visit the authorized service provider in country where you made the purchase.
To get international warranty coverage you would need to purchase an International Warranty extension: details here http://www.toshiba.eu/services/warranty-extension/
In case the International Warranty has been registered for your notebook, the ASP in UK should be able to fix the notebook under international warranty conditions.

  • Satellite A100-599 - question about display driver update

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A100-599 with a NVIDIA 7600go graphic card and I have Bioshock like most of you the game crashes because of some problems with the graphic card drivers, no pb...in the meantime NVIDIA released some new patches to the Forceware and after I rechecked the Toshiba driver support database I saw a new release in the Display driver list for WinXp.
One of them seems to be from 13/09/2007. I downloaded the drivers, installed them and after I checked the driver details in the Device manager list and to my surprise the details said the drivers are from 2006. I reinstalled the drivers and the same thing appeared. I checked the XML that was in the drivers archive and surprise ...the drivers are really the old ones from 2006. So my question is this: Do you have any Display Drivers for my model that work for Bioshock :D
    Regards,Marian

I dont know if WE have. I think it would be took some long time to ask every single user: hey, do you have some drivers for blackmodjo? Ah, come on, please. Just a little bit of them... ;)
No, I have a better idea. Its like cooking a meal. The ingredients: DriverCleaner Pro and the website www.laptopvideo2go.com and .... ta ta ta TAAAA a lot of patience
To get some good "bio"shocked meal just follow this receipt:
    Go to
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
read before you do anything (YES, even before you continue BREATHING) the FAQ-section on that site (RECOMMENDEDRECOMMENDEDRECOMMENDED)
and then download the drivers. Do it, yes...
Then download drivercleaner by searching for it on www.google.com and THEN, read their Manual before doing anything else (Ok, you can continue breathing..)
After reading their manual you will something like:
    1. Starting program, doing something, restarting machine
    2. starting in safe mode, starting that program, removing..yadayadayada
    3. Installing new driver
    3. Playing Bioshock
    4...
5..no..6. Thanking me and giving me your first born.. ;)
So, by cutting away around 40% of my humoristic stuff and following the constructive technical instructions from me you will be able to play bioshock.
    Greets :)

Since this is my secondhand computer, is there any software which can detect the settings and confirm everything? My product details are as below.

    Hi shahchin,
I think you should check this Toshiba document:
[How to change the settings for the integrated webcam if the image is very dark or black |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=59]
Furthermore the microphone is located on near the microphone because its a part of the webcam.
Regarding the picture quality of webcam you could also try reinstalling the webcam driver from Toshiba website.

  • Satellite P300D-10v - Question about warranty

    HI EVERYBODY
I have these overheating problems with my laptop Satellite P300D-10v.
I did everything I could do to fix it without any success..
I get the latest update of the bios from Toshiba. I cleaned my lap with compressed air first and then disassembled it all and cleaned it better.(it was really clean insight though...)
BUT unfortunately the problem still exists...
So i made a research on the internet and I found out that most of Toshiba owners have the same exactly problem with their laptop.
Well i guess this is a Toshiba bug for many years now.
Its a really nice lap, cool sound (the best in laptop ever) BUT......
So I wanted to make a question. As i am still under warranty, can i return this laptop and get my money back or change it with a different one????
If any body knows PLS let me know.
    chears
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
I have already found you other threads.
    Regarding the warranty question;
If there is something wrong with the hardware then the ASP in your country should be able to help you.
The warranty should cover every reparation or replacement.
But I read that you have disasembled the laptop at your own hand... hmmm if you have disasembled the notebook then your warrany is not valid anymore :(
I think this should be clear for you that you can lose the warrany if you disasemble the laptop!
By the way: you have to speak with the notebook dealer where you have purchased this notebook if you want to return the notebook
The Toshiba ASP can repair and fix the notebook but you will not get money from ASP.

  • Satellite X205-S9349 - Question about GPU temperature

    Hi,
I purchased an *Satellite X205-S9349* approx. 10 months ago an recently installed a temperature monitor for the nVidia 8700M GT card. While using 3d modeling applications I recorded the average temperature at *97 degrees Celsius*.
Idling the computer results in a temperature of *60 degrees*. The computer is present in an air conditioned room, who's average temperature is *19 degrees*.
Is this the normal operating temperature of the X205-S9349 when on full load?
Can this temperature damage my computer?
Is there anything I can do to reduce the temperature without voiding the warranty provided by Toshiba?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pabst
PS: I have propped the back of my computer up so that air can easily flow through the bottom.

    Hello Pabst
In my opinion there is no reason for panic. If you use original Toshiba display driver your notebook is protected and if the notebook will come up to critical temperature level it will shut down automatically to avoid hardware damage.
This with propping back side is great idea. Sometimes I do the same. The notebook can be cooled much better. And one more thing: do not believe always what those third part applications show.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite M70-340: Question about warranty if I buy in Russia and move to Australia

I'd like to buy notebook Satellite M70-340 here in Russia. Next month I'm going to move to Australia. What about the warranty in this case?
Will I have to pay if some trouble occurs?
How can I recognise a laptop which is officially sold (= i mean legally delivered and has a worldwide warranty)?
Thanx a lot for your answer!

    Hi
I dont know what you mean with officially sold and I hope you will buy notebook in PC store and not on the street. As far as I know every new notebook has one year international warranty but if you will stay longer you can buy warranty extension. It must be buying by authorized service partner in your country.
If you have troubles in Australia go to service partner and they will check if the unit is stolen or official soled. After that it can be repaired. As I said, contact Authorized Toshiba service partner in Russia and ask for warranty extension.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - question about BIOS update

I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7E) with Windows Vista and XP that were installed recently.
In Toshiba's driver page (BIOS update) says:
"This Bios is only compatible for Notebooks with Windows Vista!!!!"
    1) Should I update my BIOS(1.4) or is it going to be a problem for my XP windows?
    2) Has anyone try it?
    3) Is there documentation about the BIOS updates (bug fixes, etc)?

    Hi madmak
I think the description should be clear if the BIOS description says that the BIOS is only compatible for notebooks with Windows Vista then you cannot use it with Windows XP.
I think nobody should check if an Vista BIOS would be run on the XP notebook because mostly a wrong BIOS can damage the motherboards ROM on in your case some notebook features will not run correctly.
I didnt find also any reports about any fixed BIOS bugs it seems something like that was not published on Toshiba European site.
best regads and happy new year ;)

  • Question about model driven dev and RDS configuring

I am testing the model driven development that is brought up by Flash Builder4 and LCDS3 recently, and it went pretty well. However i've noticed that the configuration of the RDS for development mode is not recommanded for a production environment.
My first quetion is can I simply disable the RDS on the server when I want to deploy my app to a production environment and still be able to use all of the features such as data management service and remote service etc.? I've tried to do so but it gave me a 404 page. I felt it was a little bit confusing when you know you DO have a html template located in the right location. If RDS can be disabled without interfering the functionality of the app, where can I find a doc to follow?
My second question is if the RDS is a must, then how to configure the security setting? I knew some of the requirements by visiting this url:http://help.adobe.com/en_US/LiveCycleDataServicesES/3.1/Developing/WS6822bf3ec1c7b2e9-30fb 9b22126b9ca84aa-8000.html,
however, when I followed the steps and test it, I got a 400 error in FB4 RDS configuration page.
Since I am testing this under Tomcat 5.5, I am not sure where should I put the flex-tomcat-common.jar and flex-tomcat-server.jar file in, cause the dir structure of Tomcat 5.5 is a little bit different than that of Tomcat 6.0. Then I put these files under both of the tomcat 5.5\common\lib folder and the tomcat 5.5\server\lib folder. I've doubled checked the the catalina.properties file which is located under tomcat5.5\conf folder and I see the following environment param has been there : ${catalina.home}/common/lib/*.jar.
The other configuration I made that differs from the doc was: I put <valve classname="flex.messaging.security.TomcatValve"></valve> into the context.xml, which is under the folder Tomcat 5.5/conf. Since I put the Resource definition in the same file, I guess this should not be the problem.
Does anyone has any successful experience on setting this up?
    Any hint will be appreciated.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I solved my first problem, it was because I accidentally commented out part of the RDS configuration and left the servlet-mapping part un-commented. After I generate all the client and server codes and re-deploy them to the environment, I finally got my running demo with RDS disabled.
For the second problem, I am still stucking in. I've tried to switch to the Tomcat 6.0 and follow both of the LCDS installation doc and the LCDS3.1_using doc. None could work me out. I constantly get the error message said that "The RDS server was successfully contacted, but your security credentials were invalid". So after struggling a whole day, I found the following statement, which is appeared in the ColdFusion configuraton doc:"Note: If you are using ColdFusion MX 7 or earlier, the message "The RDS server was successfully contacted, but your security credentials were invalid," appears. The message indicates that the password was not validated, even if it is correct. Click OK to close the message. ". That's interesting cause it seems it was exact the situation I was encountered. However, in my case, ignoring the error message does not give me a successful RDS connection.
For your information, I am pasting the configurations I had on my machine and maybe some ppl could give me a correction.
    service-config.xml:
    <security>
      <login-command class="flex.messaging.security.TomcatLoginCommand" server="Tomcat"/>

  • Question about Model Driven over RTMPS configuration

I am testing model driven development features these days and encountered a problem:
When I used RTMP channel to retrieve data from the server, everything works fine, however when I tried to use RTMPS channel, I got following error:
    Could not initialize DataService.
Missing or invalid configuration for destinations: ["CodeModel.Code"]
the CodeModel is the model I created by using the modler under Flash Builder4, and it simply include one table called Code. I can retrieve data, update and delete data with this model over RTMP channel, but not over RTMPS channel.
I set up my RTMPS channel by creating a self-signed certificate and installed it in the trusted area of the browser, then I referenced the keystore file in the service-config.xml, here is the snap of my configuration:
    <channel-definition id="my-rtmps" class="mx.messaging.channels.SecureRTMPChannel">
            <endpoint url="rtmps://{server.name}:2099"
              class="flex.messaging.endpoints.SecureRTMPEndpoint"/>

                <keystore-password>password</keystore-password>

The server side log did not show any exceptions, I am wondering is there any other settings that I need to pre-config in order to make my app run over the RTMPS channel?
    Any help will be appreciated!

The problem is solved. The error message is due to the default channel was set to RTMP in my data-management-config.xml file. That's why modifing the application level default channel does not work. After I changed it to RTMPS, it worked.
One more thing to make sure though, if I want to use both of the RTMP channel and RTMPS channel in my app (not for fail over) , I have to create at least two models right? Also do I need to change the default channel in data-management-config.xml if the model I am about to deploy expects different channel than previous models?

  • Satellite L20-101: Question about memory modules mixing PC2-4300 and PC2-4200

    Hello
I have Toshiba Satellite L20-101. It has onboard 512MB RAM (PC2-4300). Today I added another RAM module but this new module is PC2-4200. Is there anything wrong doing this? Both modules are DDR2 and 533MHz and 512MB.

    Hi Pawel,
In principle there is no problem with mixing RAM modules of slightly different types but normally the total RAM will only run at the speed of the slower module. If your notebook recognises the correct amount of RAM from both sticks then there will ne no problem.

  • Satellite X200-20G: Question about BIOS 2.20

    Hello,
Could you please bring me some lights on the warning which introduces the BIOS 2.20 upgrade:
*!!!* Upgrade the BIOS from Windows XP BIOS V5.10 only to VISTA BIOS V2.20 or higher *!!!*
Mainly I am interested in understanding what is the relationship with XP.
I have a Satellite X200-20G with the first hard drive loaded with Vista (default configuration) and a XP Home edition on the second Hard drive and I use the BIOS menu to boot on one side or the other.
    Thank you
    Guy.

    Hi
On some notebooks the BIOS must be updated to the XP version if the Win XP OS was installed.
The warning message says that if you have already updated the BIOS to XP version 5.10 then you could update it again only to the BIOS 2.20 Vista version.
But it looks like the XP BIOS version for Sat X200 doesnt exist at this time and in my opinion you could overlook this ;)
    Best regards

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE6) - Question about Windows 7

Has anyone tried installing Windows 7 32bit on aSatellite A200 PSAE6 and using toshiba flash cards and also toshiba value added package?
    Thank you

    Hello
No, I dont have tried Windows 7 and the Toshiba utilities on Satellite A200.
But why do you ask this? You can test it by yourself and then you can report us your experience.
I dont use Windows 7 at the moment because its not a final version and can cause some problems or maybe not compatible with some software applications.
With Vista and XP Im on the safely side.
