Satellite C655D-S5304 is lagging

My Toshiba Satellite laptop was working fine until I left it running for around an hour while I was doing other things. Sense then every time I turn it on it will take forever, even the login music is lagging, and once it is finally done loading I will move the mouse and it lags and jumps around. Everything takes for ever to load. I have restarted it in safe mode and when I do that I have no lag problem. PLEASE HELP.

Hi! I don't have another solution. If It runs ok in safe mode, There seems to be a conflick some where and a clean boot is the only way I know. You post any time you want kshrine. I say two heads are always better than one
Thanks for helping friend.

  • Error in Booting Up Satellite C655D-S5088 laptop

I recently left my computer and came back to this message on a black screen:
For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.1.9(12/15/09)
    Check Cable Connection!
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
After shutting it back down and letting it set for a while, I was able to boot up Windows and actually log in and load up my desktop. However, everything responded very slowly and the computer lagged a great deal. Then, a blue screen very briefly popped up and the computer restarted itself, and then it took me back to the message on the black screen. I have been stuck in this cycle trying to figure out what could be wrong. The computer is also making some strange sounds I had never noticed before. Any help?

The message means the BIOS is trying to boot from a network. That almost always signals that the hard disk is dead.
When the computer runs very slowly, it's because the drive is failing. Reads and writes need to be made repeatedly in order to be successful.
If you are able to boot once more, be sure to rescue any important files.
I hope instead you have kept your backups current.

  • Imminent Hard Drive Failure? Satellite C655D-S5130

Recently performed a system recovery after boot failure on Satellite C655D-S5130. Recovery went fine, but now we're getting a windows error message after startup saying that we should run file backup because the hard drive reported errors and warning us of an imminent failure. Otherwise running fine. Please advise.
    R&S

Everybody should already have a file backup for all of their PCs. So if you haven't already backed up your files then do it now.  I strongly suggest creating a Hard Drive Image of your C drive using a reliable imaging/ghost program. If the hard drive is able to provide a reliable image this will save you a lot of heartache and countless hours of rebuilding your NEW Hard Drive.
FYI I can't count the number of Hitachi HDDs that have come across my desk from both Toshiba and the other company that sounds like bell.  All with bad sectors or making clicking sounds.  On the other hand...I have not seen any bad WD drives since 1999, and I have only seen a few bad Seagate drives. (1 3.5" and 1 2.5").
My guess is that you are experiencing Premature HDD Death Syndrome or PHDDDS.
If you are still within warrenty you may be able to get it replaced....when it dies...but I would spend the $$ now to get a new WD Scorpio Blue or Black and make preperations to restore your reliable image to the new HDD.
    Good Luck.

  • Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5120 not recognized by support

Bought new Satellite C655D-S5120 at Staples. Went to Toshiba to check for any updates. My laptop is not even recognized on the support site. To update my laptop is their another model number I should be using.

If the serial number is not detected by Automatic detection you can find drivers manually.
Maybe you have the same A200 as friend of mine. His notebook has part number PSAE6E.
To find right drivers please visit Toshiba download and support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Support Homepage and at the bottom you will find link Download drivers.
Go there and choose your notebook model with right short model number.
If you need more help please let me know.
BTW: have you tried to find right drivers on Toshiba France support page?

  • Satellite C655D-S5303 will not boot from cd/dvd drive

I have already set the boot order in the BIOS to boot from cd/dvd drive first and it still goes straight to the HDD and starts Windows 7. I searched for this problem and found some people saying to switch it to CSM boot or disable secure boot but none of these options are available in the BIOS. I have it set to normal boot instead of fast so thats not the problem. Can anyone help me here? I am trying to reformat and reinstall Windows 7. I know the Windows 7 installation disk I have is good because I have used it in another computer and the cd/dvd drive works fine. I just can't get it to boot from the cd/dvd drive before the HDD.

Try setting the HDD to lowest boot priority. See Dave's solution in this message.
It's certainly easier to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are preinstalled in the proper order. Windows is preactivated.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain recovery media from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here

  • Sound cuts out on Satellite c655d-s5300

Sound keeps cutting out, started a week ago, if I go to control panel: sound: and click on recording, the sound returns for a few more minutes. Anyone know why this is happening and a way to fixit? Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver and a system restore, nothing has worked yet.
    Running Winders 7-64.

I am having the same issue. In my case I have a Satellite C655D S5202 and have tried re-installing the Conexant audio driver as well as a Realtek driver. I've even deleted the driver and let Microsofts driver take over... that makes the issue worse (no audio at all through the speakers).
Whenever I play music, watch a video or anything that uses the speakers it cuts out. I can adjust the volume and the speakers play audio for another minute or so.
If anybody knows a fix or even a cause for this it would really help.

  • Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5130 frequently crashes

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5130 (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) and it frequently crashes. Antivirus doesn´t detect problems.
Most of the computer crashes occur because the network adapter is disabled often without my intervention. Please see the attached files.
However, sometimes the system crashes without this problem occurs with the adapter
    Can you help me?

  • Satellite C655D-S5130 bios reset

Can somebody help me please find the jumper location of Satellite C655D-S5130. I forgot the password that was set on the bios. I need to reset it.

The problem with getting a Bios password removal from Toshiba is that it is a chargeable expense. Removing it is not covered under warranty. Beyond the loss of money, you need to spend the time in getting it to an authorized dealer or mailing it in to the Depot.
If this was my computer, I would turn on the computer and hit the F2 key to go into the Bios. Again, it will ask you for the Bios password. Try the different passwords from grandpa and see if can't get into the Bios. It will give you 3 tries before shutting down. Try again. Maybe grandpa capitalized the first letter or misspelled. If you succeed with the Bios password, it will let you into the Bios and you will be able to remove the Bios password permanently at that point.
Beyond wasting some time, you won't lose anything else. But if that doesn't work, you're going have to talk to your Toshiba repair dealer about having them remove the Bios password. Expect to be charged since it isn't covered under warranty. Finally, expect the dealer to ask for proof of ownership. They won't remove Bios passwords from stolen computers.

Toshiba offers a program (attached) for learning the serial number. It's supposed to present you with this screen.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L650-1QG lags terribly Windows 7 64bit

    Hi all,
my Satellite Pro L650-1QG started to lag terribly (Windows 7 - 64 bit, Service Pack): It now often reacts delayed on input (mouse clicks, opening new tabs in browser, typing letters in Open Office etc.). Sometimes the lags are 3-5 seconds, often more, sometimes shorter. In the meantime, cursor changes to "swirling ring"-symbol. Video and Audio sometimes staggers while playing e.g. Youtube-movies. This also happens in secure boot mode.
    - I reinstalled Windows through Toshiba HDD Recovery.
    - Windows is up to date.
    - Drivers are up to date.
    - BIOS was updated in March as suggested by Toshiba. Everything went fine for month after that.
    - Avira Antivir, Windows Defender and Spybot S&D do not show any hits
    - PC Health shows average CPU temperature and "good" hard disk drive status
    - No fingerprint software is installed (which is suggested as a source for lags in the knowledge database)
Do you know of any possibility to identify the problem?

First, thank you all for your advise. Unfortunately I still have the same problem, after trying the following:
    - Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Software (11.6.0.10309) - as mentioned above
    - Disabling TosSENotify and ToSWaitSrv via CCleaner from the Autostart - which amounts to switching of Toshiba HDD Protection, I think
    - Deactivating the Wireless Adapter and Ethernet Adapter in the Device Manager
Obviously the notebook worked somewhat faster, but I still encounter the short freeze periods. Oh dear...

  • Satellite C655D Power port

    Hi,
I had a customer drop off her C655d today because she dropped it and it won't charge anymore.  Upon inspection, the plug port is wobbly, and likely needs to be replaced.  Does anyone know where a new port can be purchased? or will it require a whole new system board?
    Thank you

    Hi
The replacement is very, very tricky because you have to disassemble the whole notebook unit.
You have to remove all parts before you will get access to the motherboard and to the DC in cable.
I dont think you can do this without any step by step instruction and guidelines.
As far as I know and as suggested in this forum, the maintenance manuals are not available for common notebook users. Such manuals are released only for authorized service technicians and I think you will not be able to download such manuals but I think you can search in internet for some useful information and details.
For example you could take a look on irisvista.com website and could look for Satellite T110/T115 series how to disassemble such units.
But such disassembling is your own risk!
