Satellite C660-108 WLAN disconnects on battery power

Have tried to post on an older theread but they are locked as resolved. Well mine isn't. Usual problem of WLAN being fine on mains adaptor but WLAN disconnects from internet intermittenetly on battery power. I have...
- Adjusted the power save settings
- Deleted the WLAN (Realtek 8188CE) driver
- Installed a new driver from the Realtek site
- Enabled the 802.11d which was disabled.
What have I missed? There's clearly a need for Toshiba to fix this problem with a proper patch.
Thanks in anticipation..

  • Satellite C660 - WLAN disconnects on battery power supply

    HI
I have a new Satellite C660 which is a great wee machine BUT every time I disconnect the power cable the wireless connection looses the internet connection. Wireless is fine and all settings accurate. I have checked the amended the power settings and they are set to be ok whether on battery or power.
But still I cannot disconnect the power cable without losing the warless connection. The modem is still on and functioning and even more strongly I can access other peoples wireless connections whilst being off line.
    Please any ideas?
    Thanks

When you use notebook on battery power supply and use FN+F8 can you enable and disable WLAN module properly?
Ave you checked WLAN settings in device manager properties (click here )?

  • Battery is not charging on Satellite C660-108

I've just bought a new Satellite C660-108 as a Christmas present. The laptop worked fine for a while but then I noticed that the Windows 7 power icon stated that the battery wasn't charging (even though it was correctly inserted, both sliders were in the correct position, the power cable was plugged in and switched on). Sure enough when the battery ran down the computer died.
Current situation is that the computer will run fine with the power cable if the (now dead) battery is removed but it won't switch on with the battery inserted (whether the power cable is plugged in or not).
Is this a fault with the battery or the laptop?

    Hi,
Follow Silas's advice. I have posted battery charge issue from toshiba technical support knowledge base
If you experience difficulty in charging the battery, or if the battery capacity has decreased over time, the following procedure might re-condition the battery:
Unplug the computer from the AC adapter and turn it on. Let the computer run under battery power until the computer turns off, indicating that the battery is fully discharged.
    Remove the battery pack.
Using a soft cloth, wipe off the battery packs connectors and the AC adapters connectors.
    Re-insert the battery pack.
Plug the computer into the AC adapter and check the wall outlet, making sure the connection is firm.
With the PC turned off, let the battery charge until the battery status light or icon glows green.
    Unplug the AC adapter.
    Remove the battery.
Wait 30 seconds and re-insert the battery.
Plug the AC adapter back in.
Let the battery recharge until the battery status light turns green or the icon displays 100%.

  • Satellite C660-108 does not boot if USB Bluetooth dongle connected

    Hiya,
I hope you would help me.
I am having an issue with my bluetooth dongle and satellite c660-108.
It works all perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do everything I want.
But then when I am shutting down laptop and turning on again it won't go if the bluetooth dongle is still in the usb socket.
I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with black screen and blinking cursor in top left corner.
I have to turn it off, take out the bluetooth dongle and then turn it on again.
And then windows starts. After that I have to put in bluetooth dongle again if I want to work with it.
It is not a huge issue but it is a bit annoying when I have to take out the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows started.
I am currently running under win 8.1 but had it already with win 8.
    Anybody any ideas??

    >I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with black screen and blinking cursor in top left corner.
Mostly the blinking cursor appears because the notebook cannot find an bootable device.
It looks like the unit cannot switch to the HDD while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you checking the booting order in the BIOS.
Set the HDD at the first place and the USB as last possible booting device.
Save the changes and check if it helps.

  • Satellite C660-115 WLan connection only works when power cable is connected

    Hello,
I bought a satelite C660-115 a few weeks ago. I would like to surf the internet anywhere in my home without any wires/cables.
From the first day I had this problem: when I disconnect the _power_ cable, the wireless connection will stop working.
The webpage on my screen will still be there, but loading a new page is a problem.
Sometimes it helps to reload (pressing F5), sometimes not. It always helps to "repair the ip-adress", but not for long.
The only solution is to atach the power cable, regardless of how much power the battery still has.
When I do so,there is no problem whith the connection at all.
I went back to the shop where I bought it, they connected to their own wireless network and they had the same problem after a few minutes. In the shop too attaching the power cable solved the problem.
So the problem must be in my lap top, not in my network (modem or so).
Does this all sound familliar and if so, how can I fix it?
I hope my English is understandable, I live in Holland.
    Thanx in advance!

  • Satellite C660-108 - No Automatic internet connection

    I bought a replacement laptop last weekend - a Toshiba C660 - 108 - which is giving me a problem.
I cannot get the computer to connect automatically to the internet router (Orange) as it fails to connect initially even though the network is always visible. I then require to go upstairs to the router, press the wifi button and then i can connect. This works fine until either i lose connection or switch off when i find again I have to repeat the process.
We have three other Toshiba laptops in the house which all work happily and automatically.
Have tried to connect with virus protection disabled and no different so no conflict there I think.
Have checked that i have latest driver and do.
Have noticed though that when i bring up the list of available networks within range, my connection does not have a check box for "Allow to connect automatically" whereas the others listed do. I have checked all properties and boxes are ticked to allow auto connection.
When i use my laptop at work it connects to the network automatically without any problem ( work's is a BTConnect router).
Have spent all week looking for a fix for this on forums and would be obliged if anyone can tell me what's able to be done to allow an automatic connection.

I purched a similar model (C660-11K) from Amazon UK 5-days ago. Initially all seemed okay and then I had problems connecting to the internet.
After much checking and testing (WLAN card and router) I stumbled upon the fact that I could connect and use the internet when the laptop was connected to the charger but not when running on battery power. Wierd!
So then I went to Realtek website, downloaded and installed the latest driver for the RLT8188CE Wireless LAN. Everthing is now working correctly: on mains or battery.
I hope that this is of help to you, and gets you working.

  • Satellite C850-108 - WLan card driver for Win 7

I have a Toshiba Satellite C850-108 and recently it just completely crashed.
Being stupid i never got chance to create a recovery disc etc for it.
I have a friend that sent me a disc to help reinstall windows 7.
However when i did this i lost all drivers and had to completely reinstall them as Iv been finding out which ones i need.
One big problem i have had is that when i install the driver for network controller it just refuses to install saying there is no network driver detected.
I have tried going to devices and yellow exclamation etc but still doesnt find anything.
I have download numerous drivers from Toshiba to try correct this but still have the same problem. I can only connect to the internet via an Ethernet.
It is as if I do not even have a Wirless card.
Im very puzzled and frustrated with this if anyone can help i would very much appreciate this.
P.s i installed using 32bit but when i check my serial number it states that it is 64 bit. Could this be part if the cause?.

    Hi
As Im not mistaken the Satellite C850-108 supports the Realtek RTL8188CE WLan card.
So you need to install the Realtek WLan driver for the RTL8188CE chip.
You should be able to download the driver directly from Realtek page:
    [Realtek Drivers & Utilities|http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level= 5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false]

  • Satellite 2450-201 wont start with battery power supply

Can anyone please help, I cannot power up through the battery at all. When connecting the AC supply, the laptop powers up no problem. And after the intitial power up, I can switch to the battery without any problem. But it won't let me power up through the battery at all.
Can anyone advice, is there any settings that will help or do I need a new battery?

    Hi
How about the battery charging status?
    Is the battery fully charged?
Try to disconnect the AC adaptor and remove the battery from the notebook for a several time (15-30min) then plug the battery again and try to power up the notebook.
I think also you should check if the issue happens also with the new power pack. Possibly there is something wrong with the battery and you need a new one.
Sorry for such general suggestions but you know, we can only speculate about the issues.

  • Satellite L500d PSLT0A: wont work on battery power

    Hi
I have Satellite L500d PSLT0A, with error 22% available (plugged in not charging).
Laptop wont work on battery alone
When ac adaptor unplugged laptop shuts down
Battery light is not on even when ac adaptor plugged in
Battery light comes on for a few seconds if you pull out ac adaptor plug and put it back in
    _I have done the following_
    1. Removed battery and AC plug and held power button for 20-30 sec and then replaced battery and ac adaptor
    2. Uninstalled ACPI and re-installed it
    3. Removed battery whilst still powered up and replaced after 3 min
    4. System restore to out of box state
I have done the above several times, none of which work...any suggestions? BIOS update???
    Cheers

    Hi buddy,
For your notebook model there is a BIOS update available and can be downloaded. I found it on Australian website where your notebook model is listed:
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au > Support > Downloads
    Computers > Satellite > L500D > PSLT0A-xxxxxx> (your OS)
    Before you update the BIOS:
    -Close all running programs
-Make sure you are logged in as Administrator
    -Unzip all files
-Battery should be fully charged and AC/DC adapter must be connected

  • Satellite C660-1d7 - Wireless disconnects when not on mains

I have been having increasing problems with the wireless on my C660-1d7 . Every time I take it off the mains, the wireless drops, and i have to plug it into Ethernet, which kind of takes the whole point away from being mobile.
I've updated the drivers on the system to the most recent (taken from toshiba website) yet it still drops. Its becoming annoying as i work from home, so have VPN loaded, so every time i lose the net, I have to keep logging back into that, which takes time away. i also use a VOIP phone which again will cut off.
    Wireless LAN is Realtek RTL8118CE
Can anyone help as its driving me potty.

  • Satellite C660: no WLAN after BIOS update

    I own a C660-115 (PSCOLE) model laptop.
Since I have performed a BIOS update (to vs 1.40) my WLAN is not functioning anymore.
I've made sure the drivers for the WLAN-card (Realtek RTL8188CE) are very much up to date.
Windows says the WLAN-card is ok ('device working properly'), but no connection can be made.
My cabled connection to the internet is working fine.
Any suggestions? Any clearcut solutions? Please?

    Dear all,
    > Last option is to reinstall OS and test functionality with factory settings.
Speaking of last options, this definitely is one (and not one i am going to follow).
So, just for the record: problem not solved, mystery lingers on.
    Thanks for all the suggestions.
    > Why you didnt post here question: should I update BIOS on my notebook?
    > Believe me most of he peple would write NO. Dont change anything if the system runs properly.
Funny question .... I definitely do not want to get in a rant, but I might ask in return: why is Toshiba then offering an updated BIOS version for my model laptop, and making sure that i pay notice to this update through their pre-installed 'Toshiba Bulletin Board? "Adds increased functionality ....." , that's what it said.
So, to orund up: if there are no other options than a reinstall, consider this topic closed.

  • Re: Satellite L650-108 WLan shuts down when lid is close

Hey, so it's all in the title people :)

  • Satellite Pro L20 dies on 70% battery power

battery had approx 3.15 hours remaining, and the laptop turned itself off twice and reset the clock and date to 2300hours on jan 10th 2005. technical help say that i need to send the whole laptop battery etc away just to get the battery replaced. I'm not happy.
could the problem be something deeper internally?

    Hi
It's strange and I assume it could be something wrong on the motherboard.
If the technician says you have to send the whole notebook so I don't see any other possibilities.
I think the diagnostic test is needed to find out what's going wrong.
Believe me without any test it's not easy to say why this happens.

  • "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" - Satellite C660-108

Got a new laptop for Christmas yesterday and it worked fine yesterday, I came home this evening and it wanted me to click restore and then restart. I done that, now every time I go to turn the machine on it brings up the message "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" and a saying about having any external devices plugged in and to remove then (which I don't)...
Phoned "The Tech Guys" they said it was probably because when i started the laptop so many updates etc have happened and one of them have gone wrong and I need to phone back with the receipt and they will go through it with me.
So I plan to do so, but I would like it if people could give advise on how to fix this.
    Thanks :)

    Hi
As I understood the last message; the HDD recovery could be started properly but you are not able to log in the Windows. Is it right?
Did you try to repeat this procedure once again? If not, do this and try to recover the notebook using HDD recovery.
Before you would start the recovery again, please go to BIOS pressing F8 and set the BIOS to default settings. Save the changes and try the HDD recovery.

  • RAM upgrade up to 8GB on Satellite C660-180

    Hey guys,
Thanks a lot for taking a look at my post.
I have Satellite C660-108. I'm thinking of upgrading ram from 3 GB up to 8 GB.
I will be very grateful if someone could answer my questions before I make a purchase.
This is a Ram model. I'm thinking of buying.
Kingston HyperX Plug in and Play DDR3 1600MHz CL9 8GB SODIMM Memory Module
I wonder if it would fit to my laptop ?
Also I found this on C660-108
Type : Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD
memory amount : up to 1,273 MB shared memory with 3 GB system memory installed, and up to 1,696 MB with 4 GB system memory, (with pre-installed 64-bit operating system)
    memory type : shared .
If I upgrade ram up to 8 GB would it mean that my graphics system memory will be up to 3,392 MB as well ?
    Thank you so much.
    Kit

According to Toshiba notebook spec page, the 8GB RAM (2 x 4GB) are definitely possible.
Kingston is a good RAM manufacturer and provide good quality modules.
The RAM modules should support following sepcs:
    DDR3 1066MHz (PC3-8500)
The CPU PENTIUM P6100 (2.00GHZ) supports an 1.066MHZ FSB and therefore the PC3-8500 should run at full speed 1066MHz
    > f I upgrade ram up to 8 GB would it mean that my graphics system memory will be up to 3,392 MB as well ?
More RAM means a bigger part can be shared with the GPU but this is controlled by graphic card driver automatically.
