Satellite C660D-155 - Windows 7 is not opening

I can't get the laptop to open, as I'm getting an error message that a USB or storage device was removed while the laptop was still running. it appears that a Internet Dongle was removed before shut-down. I'm getting an error message 0xc00000e9 I/O. The system suggests System Repair or Start normally, but each one that I try brings me back to the same error report.
I contacted Technical Support & they gave me good info but suggest I do a back-up or save first! I don't know how I can do this, as I can't open the system to create a back-up.
I can't find my original recovery disk, but I do have a few back-ups that I created some months ago.
Can anyone suggest how I move on, as I don't want to lose all of the files on my system.
Many thanks in advance
Bren

Hi
If the procedure described by Terention does not help you, you need to install the system from scratch.
You said you created some backups Did you use the Windows internal backup & restore option?
In such case you could get the data using these backups after new OS installation.
If you want to set the system back to factory settings, you will need the Toshiba recovery disk. You can order the disk from Arvato if you dont have such disk.
The links to Arvato have been posted a lot of time here in the recovery product forum

• In upper 1/4 of window, mouse will not open items

In firefox window mouse does not open items in top 1/3 of window. Normally arrow changes to pointer hand. This does not happen in upper 1/3 of opened window. In lines above the page items do open.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

Have you tried: click Firefox button > New Tab > New Window OR CTRL+N OR File > New Window (if using the Menu Bar)
Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list.

• Satellite C660D-155: No admin rights

Hi, so i got the C660D - 155 Satellite Laptop for my birthday 09/04/1993.
I turned it on, let it do it's own thing to install windows 7, registered as a user and started the laptop as normal.
There where no problems at all at first!
Then suddenly my audio driver decides to just remove itself from my computer (i think it was after a windows update).
To make things worse my firewall is off and i found out that *i am blocked from doing anything that requires administrator rights.*
I can't reinstall my audio driver and i cant turn my firewall back on.
I read that it could be Malware/Virus/Spyware related?! Is that even possible? I have PC Tools Spyware Doc installed and updated to the most recent software.
I have tried the Ctrl+Alt+Del at the main screen to try and log in as admin and that doesn't work...
Why am i not administrator? Who is?!
Any help?
Thanks

Hi
Im not quite sure what you did with the notebook or the system but maybe you should simply try to reinstall this once again using HDD recovery.
If its a new notebook then this should not be a problem;
Power up the unit, press F8 then choose Repair my Computer and then choose HDD recovery.
Setup the OS once again and check if you have the full control.

• I have uninstalled and reinstalled and Firefox for windows 7 will not open. There is no error message--it just doesn't open, even in safe mode. What do I do?

My computer is set to auto update for Windows 7 Home Premium and for Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. I am also running Norton 360. There was a major update for Office on 12/10/14 that seems to be when my problems started. This month, every time my updates have caused a reboot, Mozilla has failed to open. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times, and it has only lasted a day or two before it crashes again. This last time it will still not open. All the instructions to troubleshoot seem to be based on the idea that the program is open and just has issues. I can't even get it to open up in Safe Mode.
I have tried to reinstall, and it says that it will launch automatically when the install is complete, but it is not working. Since Norton scans every download before it runs, I'm not certain if that is where the problem is since I never get the window that shows the step by step installer for Firefox.
What do I need to do?

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. A clean reinstall is not the same as a regular reinstall performed using the built in installer. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.
This article lists scanning and cleaning tools other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
To check your Windows registry for policy settings that might affect Firefox or other programs, I suggest consulting a Windows forum or Microsoft's forums. For example:

• Windows 8 will not open

I have the windows 8.1 operating system.  I've done all the deleting and reinstalling everything more than once now.
After that iTunes will open but only once.  If I close the program it will not open again.  Tried troubleshooting it through the computer but no luck!
HELP

So did troubleshooting with a different computer work or no? Sounds like you need to contact Microsoft to have them take a look into your registry and clean it up.

• ITunes 10.4 Windows 7 Does not Open

After updating itunes to 10.4 on my Windows 7 (Sp1) 64 bit system, iTunes will not open.  I have dug deeply into the Community suggests and followed recommended advnice including the 7/14/11 "Removing and Reinstalling iTunes."  I did uninstall ALL Apple programs (iTunes, QT, SOftware update, Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and Apple Application Support.  Removed all program references as well.  (Computer literate, CompTIA A+ certified so fairly knowledgeable although we all know a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!)
As a work around until an update fixes the problem, I did discover that using Windows 7 "Troubleshoot Compatibility" opten WILL open iTunes 10.4 so at least for now I have a workaround.
Looking forward to the "old days" when it starts in Win7.
Thanks,

Your above posted troubleshooting list shows quite a few extensions.
Did you really disable all of them and still had the problem?
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes
Which security software (firewall) do you have?
Some can block pop-ups as well.

• Files from Windows Vista do not open in Bridge CS5

I am having trouble opening my images from Window Explorer level with Bridge.
I tried to open my jpgs with "open with" option  and my PC does nothing. Same happens when I double click the raw images.
I have my jpgs assigned to open in windows but I assigned my raw files to open in Bridge CS5 unfortunately raws will not open after double click.
Can someone help?
Thanks

Perhaps it is just semantics, but you want the double click to open in Photoshop CS5 and not Bridge.  Same thing with the raw it should open in ACR and not Bridge, as Bridge is just a browser.
With your raw problem.  If you open photoshop and click help/about plug-in/camera raw you should get one version listed.  Most camera raw problems result from ACR in wrong folder, or more than one version in the folder.

• Re: Satellite Pro A300 - DVD drawer does not open most of the time

I have a Satellite Pro A300-1NH laptop. The DVD drawer does not open most of the time. Occasionally it does, but most of the time it does not.
Sometimes if I manage to get a DVD/CD into the drawer to burn something to, the burn works.
Most of the time the computer does not recognise that there is a disc there, and then I can't open the drawer again to get it out.
Can anyone tell a novice what I need to do to sort this out please?

Have you noticed this when you try to open drawer using eject button in the drawer itself?
Almost every player has integrated eject button. Can the drawer be opened using this eject button?
