Satellite C855-1UU shut down problem, notebook turn on itself

Hi to all,
I hope that somebody can help, I need to know what to do. I bought this notebook Satellite C855-1UU two days ago, and I`m afraid that it has some malfunction.
Everything works fine, except that I have problem when I want to power off notebook. I`m using Linux OS (tried with Sabayon and now on Manjaro, just wanted to check is it OS problem or hardware).
Problem is:
when power off notebook (with power off icon or via console command) , notebook turns off...then stays turned off for about 5-10 seconds, and then switch on by itself without any reason!
I tried to determine what could be possible reason, and I found that`s only happening when battery charger plug is connected. Tried with removed battery, with loading default BIOS values, nothing changes...always turn on itself.
When unplug battery charger from notebook, and try to power off computer, it works.
Any suggestion, idea or advise what to do?
Thanx in advance!

O.K. answer found...it`s related to Linux, not to notebook.

  • Satellite P755 random shut down problems

    Hi,
I just bought my laptop couple of months ago and haven't really been using it much since.
So it doesn't have more than 100 working hours.
Couple of weeks ago I started experiencing this strange problem with random shutting down.
There is no rule when it happens, sometimes it shuts down after a minute of working and sometimes it shuts down only after couple of hours. It goes to a full software shut down, but sometimes it goes to hibernation instead.
This happens both when charger is connected and when it's not connected.
So, using my laptop is currently pretty impossible. Also warranty is not an option for me as I bought it abroad.
I read somewhere that a person had a problem with power button and that it "pressed" it self automatically, and one more thing that's happening to me is that sometimes laptop powers itself on only by opening lid and not pressing power button at all.
So, can it be that issue, and if it is what's the best way to fix it?
So, please help with any ideas or if somebody had the same problem before, I would really like to use my laptop and this way it is impossible.
    Thanks

I solved the problem, so for anyone who could be experiencing similar problems.
As I thought it was really up to power button. When I took laptop apart and tried the real power button beneath plastic one, it would someone trigger itself only by slightly touching it and not doing a full press (hearing click).
So, I guess that little plastic tip on the real plastic button that was touching it slowly constantly would trigger the button randomly and trigger random shut downs.
Actual solution is that I rasped that little plastic tip from the power button, so it's not touching the real power button anymore. Only thing now is that you need to press power button little deeper to actually turn on laptop (it's more natural now in my opinion).
Anyway, laptop is working now, it worked without stopping for whole three days.
When I talk to other people about this fix, nobody believes that it's fixed with rasp.

    > At all: I won't by me another Toshiba again. A company who is using these bad/cheap optical drives? No way. To use these poor/cheap stuff and act like: no firmware/support, ask the manufacturer and the manufacturer say, of course, ask Toshiba... is this a way to threat customers?!?
That's your personal opinion but I don't agree with you... I've got my second Toshiba notebook and never had any problems...
But try other notebooks from different manufacturers and you will see that you will not be free of any hardware problems...
I know what I'm talking about... I used and tested notebooks from different manufacturers and had to fight always with some issues...

Finally some words regarding your issue:
Should clean the ventilators using an compressed air spray and should remove some dust and debris usually this helps to decreases the internal temperature.
Furthermore you should ensure that the ventilators are free!

    sysaudio.sys - adress aa846f58 base at aa843000, datestamp 41107f1a

    Hi
Believe me; its not easy to say exactly why the BSOD appears.
Generally it happens because of the serious software malfunction or hardware fault.
Did you use the OS from the Toshiba image?
There message says something about sysaudio.sys.
This file is a system audio WDM filter process and its a part of Windows OS. It controls the hardware like printer or graphic card on a lower level.
Note: The virus uses such files as a camouflage. You should use always a anti virus application.
Furthermore you have suggested that the notebook shuts down after 5 min.
Well, this sounds like a overheating issue. How did you use the notebook? You should know that the free space around the notebook is very important because of the air circulation. The ventilators should be also free.
I you use the notebook in the right position and this will happen again so I would recommend asking the Toshiba service partner for the help. They should check the notebook.

Well, if the internal hard drive  is no longer readable, there's pretty much nothing anyone here can do about it. There are no magic words that will fix a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and have it looked at.

  • Iphone 4 shut down, won't turn on, won't charge and heating

I have the iPhone 4 only for 3 weeks now, the first day I bought it, the phone restart automatically every 3-5 minutes when I plugged it in into the computer, did a hard reset, restore to original setting and upgrade and didn't work. So I send it back to the distributor to fix it - so there go my 1st week of iphone 4 purchase. After a week got the unit back, it was ok for about 10 days or so until 2 days ago, I noticed that the phone won't charge over the night when I plug it into the wall charger. And yesterday I placed it for a charge over the night, this morning I noticed the battery is only 22% and when i pulled out the charger it shuts down. When I plug it back in, it came back on again, however not charging, and shuts down again after I pulled it out. Same thing with the computer plug. Tried to hard reset, but won't work, won't even turn on. So I plug it in and ran the BatteryDoctor app, it seems to fix the problem as it start chargin again, although my Iphone got quite warm in this process. That was morning. Now, the thing shuts down automatically, though the battery was still 40%, did a hard reset and won't work. So plugging it into the computer, it came back on, and again shuts down when it is pulled out, however this time hard reset works. This is starting to worry me. Is this a hardware problem?? I some threads that  people are having a shut down problem also. HELPPP!

Ok, so I went to try that and run the program it said I needed .Net Framework 4.0 installed, so I was on my way to update that so I could try to run the program.
Anyway, before I did that, a coworker comes by and I show her that my phone is dead. I unplug it from my computer (it's not charging or anything) and I start pressing the power button rapidly to show her it's dead. All of a sudden the screen turns on and shows me that the battery is drained and needs to be recharged. I quickly connect my phone back to the computer and it begins charging. After a few minutes the Apple logo appear and it is detected on my computer! It is currently charging and is seen in iTunes. All is well again.
What's weird is that I know for a FACT that the battery was not dead when the update was done. In fact the phone showed FULL battery right before I unplugged it the first time.
I don't know if it was a combination of the steps above or what, but whatever it was, I appreciate everyone's input.

  • Shut down problem on new macbook pro 13"

    Hey,
Just a new convert to mac after ditching my glitchy windows desktop replacement.
Been really enjoying the mac (i've had it for 3 days now). I've experienced a shut down problem where everything would close, like the dock and the bar up the top. What's left is just my background and my mouse which i can still move around. If i press the power button, it brings up the shut down options but if i click shut down, it brings me back to the background again.
The first time, it happened was after i tried opening a macmame.dmg file which was not mounting, and that cause problems with shut down in which i had to force shut down. The 2nd time it happened (which was today), was not as a response to installing anything, or so i would think.
Also, is it 'safe' or normal or better to just leave my laptop on sleep instead of shutting it down? I see a few people doing it and just wondering about the benefits of doing that instead.

I've done that repair disk. So far this shut down thing has only occured twice in 4 days. I've shut the computer down 6-10 times so it's not a reoccuring issue, so hopefully that repair would've resolved anything.
I shall continue to let me mac sleep instead of shutting it down then, seems easier. And good thing to know that theres no viruses... hate working with virus scanners and all other nonsense.
Macmame is just a emulator for some games. It was something I had on windows so just wanted to see whether it worked on mac, I ended up getting it mounted and installed but didnt seem to work as well as on windows so i disabled it.

hi, 3 weeks ago i just got my iphone4 for and then i upgraded it to iOS5..am just wondrin', does changing or upgrading the OS causes the phone to shuts down automatically and turn on again? thanks.. =)

How long are you leaving it on the charger?
Are you connecting it directly to an electrical outlet or trying to charge via USB?  USB may not provide enough power to adequately charge the device if the battery is that low.
If none of that helps, then the only option would be a warranty replacement as either the battery or system board is bad.

  • Macbook air Shut down problem

    Hi everyone,
I used to have the shut down problem with my Macbook air. I have an 11" Later 2011 Macbook air.
The problem did not go away after updating to Mountain lion.
I just realized that although I was closing all programs, I was not ejecting my 3G modem/dongle.
Once I ejected it before commanding it to shut down, it did shut down properly.
I thought I should share it with you. May be there is a program that has not been closed or a devise that has not been unplugged/ejected properly and is restricting the shut down.
It worked for me. Hope it will work for you.
    Enjoy your Mac.

  • Toshiba Satellite A300-20T shuts down after 5 seconds!!

my laptop satellite A300-20T shuts down after 5 seconds of booting , i dont know why ?? and i searched for support in the website and didn't find it in the model list, also i don't know why ???!!
i want to know why it shuts down , and how can i communicate with support

Yours would not appear to be a US model. We need the Part Number for your laptop, like PSAG8U-05K02C. You can find this on the Toshiba label on the bottom of your laptop. As well, what country was it originally purchased in. In addition, what is your operating system version, like Windows Vista 32bit?

As I said, a weak or dead PRAM battery can reportedly cause odd startup issues. If it has never been changed in six years, that's a really long-lasting battery, even if the iMac was kept on continuously.
They are pretty cheap from the right source, so you may want to try changing it.

  • My phone was fully charged and suddenly shut down and wont turn back on  iPhone 4

my phone was fully charged and suddenly shut down and wont turn back on
    iPhone 4

    Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps for unexpected power off issues found in the article below.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Issue not resolved
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.

  • My iphone suddenly shut down when i turn on cellular mode

My iphone 4 using ios 7.0.6 . Everytime i turn on the cellular mode, it suddenly shut down. I turn it on and it will be on for few second then the apple logo appears again and shut down, everytime. The way to keep using it now i change the airplane mode (need to hurry when it on for seconds) and it will run normally. I use wifi only to keep using it. My iphone 4 turn out to be ipod now. Somebody know how to fix it? Is it might be hardware or can i just connect to itunes and reset it to factory setting? I need help. Thanks.

I just upgrade the iOS 7.1.1 but nothing works. I havent set to the factory setting yet. So when i turn off the airplane mode, it run normally and when cellular on, it dead and show the red battery icon and lightning even when the battery still 90%.
