Satellite C875 : Windows reverting changes after update to Windows 8.1

For days now with no success, I have been trying to update from Windows 8 (64 bits) to Windows 8.1 a Satellite C875-153 (PSCBCE-03H002FR)
I am opening a new thread as none of the available threads on this forum have helped me nor my researched on the web.
*1st error* - which I was able to "sort of" figure out is:
-> *Windows 8.1 update fails with error message 0xC1900101 - 0x30018*
I have followed every steps, in the proper order, of this Toshiba guide, but it didn't help fixing the error:

I then followed recommendation from this thread and was "temporaly" able to update OS to Win 8.1:

The step that worked for me was to remove network cable while installing windows 8.1 as suggested by user "RandyRoberts".
*2nd error:*
*-> Windows 8.1 hangs and system tried to revert changes back to Windows 8*
By unplugging the network cable, I was able to complete the update of Windows 8.1 and run it temporaly.
As soon as I replug the network cable and reconnect to the web, the computer hangs and restarts.
I suppose Windows 8.1 is trying to check the licence status and then refuse to activate it.
Windows ends up trying to revert changes and go back to Windows 8.
It hangs at restart and refuses to reload previous OS (Windows 8), leaving me on a screen with couple options. At this point I can only recover the factory image to be able to restart the system.
These steps have been performed on a freshly reinstalled OS with no additionnal softwares.
All updates and steps have been followed and recheck several times. I am runnning last BIOS available.
I have already saved all my data and burned the recovery disks .

the user harrie_1 were able to update to the Win 8.1 and the update procedure went smoothly.
I dont know exactly why this workaround did not function in your case but I would recommend you to start the procedure once again and follow the update as described by harrie_1 user

Screen brightness not changing after update to windows 10

Hello, After updating to windows 10, I am no longer able to adjust the screen brightness at all. It is stuck on the brightest setting at all times; which is inconvenient when I am on battery power and need it dimmed. The f2 and f3 buttons are not working to adjust the brightness, and I am unable to change it in power/power plan settings. I attempted to search for a possible missing driver that I had maybe lost upon updating, but there are yet no drivers for my product on the HP website for this purpose. Any help on this matter is extremely appreciated, as it is rather frustrating that I can't change my screen brightness. Thanks.

How about using the snipping tool to create an image of what you do see and posting it here. The snipping tool is what I used to create the image that I posted. What version of Windows 10 is installed? I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro on the Omen 15 and have the Enterprise version on one of my desktop systems. I have not yet used the HOme or Education versions, so I do not yet know which features they lack.

Language change after update to Lightroom 3.2! Help asked!

I use Lightroom from the first version and love to work with it. I always work with the English version of it - for several reasons - even when my Windows XP version is in Dutch.
By upgrading to Lightroom 3.2 I selected the English language. After the update my version of Lightroom 3.2 however was in Dutch. I tried to change that to English following the help file, but that does not work
This unwanted change gives me a lot of trouble now as I normally import my pictures with a filename in the date-number format. But the date format in the Dutch version is day-month-year, as I however want to use - and used for over 50.000 pictures!!! - the year-month-day format. I had no trouble with it in Lightroom 3.0. My trouble began after updating to Lightroom 3.2.
Can anyone help me here, as I cannot import pictures I made in the right format now!!!

Hda and hdb changes after updating

Hello,
i've reinstalled my "main computer" a few weeks ago after using it for a year or so with OpenBSD. The System is an old IBM Server which i got used a year ago.
I've installed archlinux on an SCSI disk which hangs on an onboard-LSI-Controller.
There is also a bit SATA-Disk which hangs on an PCI-addon-SATA-Controller with an SIL chipset.
Yesterday i've updatet my System with pacman -Syu, and shut it down yesterday evening. This morning my system won't boot, fsck said "Bad Superblock" or so on sda3 which contains my / filesystem. After a few tries i found out that sda which was my scsi system disk and sdb which was my "big" sata drive switched the letters, so after changing the letters in the fstab, everything works fine now, but i'm a bit confused, as i had never such an issue after updating before.
Is this perhaps a bug that i should post anywhere? Or have i missed a threat or a news anywhere that announced this behavior?

The advice these days is to use uuids which are unique to each volume to avoid these types of problems. the wiki on fstab tells you how. No idea why you experienced this though.

Satellite A350-12J BIOS Faliure after update.

Hi everyone.
I own Toshiba Satellite A350-12J (it's PSALME series). Recently I got message in Toshiba Tempro, that said I should update my BIOS, so I decided to do it. I downloaded proprer version from Toshiba site, which was 1.5 and follow the instructions of update(I'd like to mention here, that it's not my first BIOS update). After update was done ma notebook restarted and didn't boot up again. The screen is black all the time.
When I try turn it on fan works for a few seconds and then goes down, there is some activity in USB devices and DVD but it's only for few seconds and then nothing.
Oh, almost forgot HDD works too. I've read that in the Phoenix based BIOSes there is something called Crisis Recovery, so I tried it, laptop boots up in this mode( I can tell, becasue in tis mode fan goes up to max rpm and system tries boot from USB Floppy).
I've tried Crisis Revovery in many combinations and during the process it seems like it's reflashing my BIOS( Floppy whith crisis recovery disk is read for about 2-3 minutes), but after I wait and give it time to reflash(about 10-15 minutes each time) notebook stiil doesn't boot up.
I think maybe this version of BIOS(1.5) is bad or something. Maybe Somone have original BIOS for this laptop, I'd be very thankful for such BIOS or maybe someone has any idea what's wrong whit it.

However, there is only one real solution;
You should get in contact with the ASP in your country in order to solve this issue.

Wallpaper Won't Change After Update to 10.5.8

My brand new MacBook Pro is having a problem. I am a total newbie, this is my first Mac ever.
I installed the update for Mac OSX 10.5.8 using the software update. After this, my desktop background is a plain blue screen. It will not change to any picture from the blue background screen. When I select a picture, it looks like it is applying the picture the background but the picture shown on the desktop does not change. Prior to the update, it was a picture I had taken.
Please help! I searched for answers, but I did not find anything. Please be detailed in your answers as I don't know this operating system yet.

Sounds like a hosed installation. Restore the bootable backup/clone you make of your system before installing the update. Don't have one? Then, restore your Time Machine backup. Don't have one of those either? Tsk, tsk. Get a bootable, external HD, and make a bootable backup/clone before updating. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall everything. Then, peruse these

On to your issue if you don't have any backup/clone to restore. Download and install the 10.5.8 COMBO update, repair permissions, and try resetting the Desktop picture (no wallpaper on Macs, that's a windoze thingy).

Albums names changed after updating to iOS 5

I just updated my iPad2 to iOS5 and all my albums" changed to name like 100IMPRT in the "Events" folder
They were labeled as the date the pictures were taken
Could some one help me ?

I can confirm that this problem was introduced for me after upgrading to 5.1 again for a ported number.
The first symptom noticed was that other people receiving my iMessages noted that my messages showed up as new threads not as part of existing message threads. Checking "my number" confirmed that the number shown has reverted to the pre-porting number. Turning off/on iMessage no longer fixes this, neither does a phone restart.
Turning off iMessage at least means that others now see my text messages in the original conversation threads.
Please fix this. Preferably without needing to change sim cards.

IPod Touch name change after updating to 3.1.1

After upgrading from 3.0 to 3.0.1 itunes changed the name oftouch the touch. Why, and is there a way I can change it back?

I experienced the same bug. What is double irritating is that after restoring the name of the iPod, backup in iTunes was starting from scratch, invoking an entire fresh and very long backup of the iPod.
The 3.1.1 update process was for me the most bug-ridden update yet (and I'm updated from 3.x).

Language Changed after update

I've seen some really competent people in this forum and I decided to submit my problem.
I've just updated my phone software with the nokia utility software but now the language is changed. I can only choose between English, French and German on both menu and writing.
The problem is that I'm Italian, the previous software version was italian and of course I've bought my Nokia 6680 LEGALLY here in Italy (in a "nokia point" by the way).
I can easily manage an english language phone, of course, but some of my friends will have some hard time translating my english, T9-provided short messages.

If you lost the language, it was still an unauthorized/illegal import, as the update updates the phone with those languages that were put on the phone when the phone was manufactured.
In other words, the "nokia point" got that phone from somewhere else than ordering it from Nokia directly (otherwise they would have gotten devices with Italian that retained Italian after using NSU).
You could go back there and ask them to fix the phone, or give you a new one with Italian.

Time format change after update to 4.0.7577.250 on aastra 6725ip

After that update the time format is changed. I found in the changelog that this should be fixed?!

Can you use settings to change the format? Or do factory reset on phone (hold 4 and 6 while booting).

Gnome 3 language changed after update

After a recent update, it seems that the language of gnome 3 defaults to Arabic.
Every time I login there is a pop-up that asks me to "Update standard folders to current language?" (The folder listed is ~/Music)
Also, Google chrome defaults to Arabic version of Google in incognito mode, which makes me believe that Google sees something in my computer which I can't see. I have run out of options as to where this changed has occurred. Any ideas?

So, there does not seem to be an issue there.
There is a very simple Region & Language section in System Settings in Gnome 3. I had selected English there (there is no OK button ...) There is something else going on.

Sharing changed after update

I just updated to Yosemite and now, when I am at my PC and attempt to access files from my mac, it is prompting for a username and password. I put in the only ones I use. The computer name and my password. It didn't do this prior to the update. What password would it be asing for? My apple ID? I do not use a password to get into the computer and the one i use when prompted for updates isn't working . What changed? And where do I find my computer info (name, etc)

How exactly does the network settings need to be set to be able to share? I was able to, no problem before the update. I even have to enter my wifi password every time I wake the computer,after the update! What would my credentials be? When, while on the mac would I be asked to enter those, so I know what to enter. I am for sure using the only two things it could be.
No one else has ever had this issue?

6300 Contacts cannot be changed after update to fi...

Hi, I updated the firmware and since then I cannot change an existing contact.

Hi,
I found a solution myself. Now my contacts can by synchronized.
Here are the steps I made to get rid of "corrupt" contacts:
- udate firmware to version 5
- make sure you use the phones memory for contacts
- look at: Contacts -> Settings -> Memory in use
- move all contacts from phone to SIM card
- Names -> Options -> Mark all
- Options -> Move marked
(If you have more than 100 contacts its ok, only 1000 will be moved)
- change phones memory for contacts to SIM
- Contacts -> Settings -> Memory in use -> Sim Card
- move all contacts from SIM card to phone
- Names -> Options -> Mark all
- Options -> Move marked
- change phones memory for contacts to phone
- Contacts -> Settings -> Memory in use -> Phone
After I did that, I can now sync my contacts...
Disadvantage: If you have more than one telephone-number associated to a contact it will be split into several contacts. E.g. Tom Miller will bei Tom Miller1 Tom Miller2. But this can be easily changed on the pc afterwards...

Desktop image changes after update or startup

Any one know why after a shut down and restart or after a system update half of my destop images change back to the default starview.. I have 8 separate desktops and the same ones always get knocke back to the default image. Then I go through the same process of customizing the desktop image and it sticks as long as I don't do a complete shutdown or updatge the system. And lately there's been a few updates.
Any insight would be helpful. While not a critical issue it's an annoying one for sure...

Hi Mende. Tried deleting the .plist in the library and after a few shutdowns got the same prblem happening again...Guess my Mac doesn't like my desktop pics...any other ideas?
