Satellite E105-S1802 constant flickering at screen bottom

Hello,
About 6 months-1 yr into use of it (up to the end of the warranty), the bottom of the screen/display has a line near the toolbar that flickers, red, green, and white at different times - like it’s a window into the inner runnings of the laptop systems...or "running" like a casino slot machine, then it pauses, but the flickering line is constantly there.  I can basically see the top of the home screen down at the bottom, in this flickering area.  It covers the bottom half of the bottom toolbar, making it difficult to see the full icons (covers them up), but it is also a CONSTANT flickering that irritates your eyes and brain.  And I have just been living with it.
Ihe other week, I looked it up online and similar postings suggest a problem with...if I recall correctly...LCD converter or cable? Here were suggestions:  ribbon cable feeding the LCD screen or possibly the inverter on the laptop is at fault.  Or the video card.
It has:
 Windows 7 Premium 64-bit;
Intel Core 2 Duo P7450
4GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB HDD.
Help, please!  What could it be?  Any ways to fix it - suggestions?
Thank you, Kathryn

Not that "convenient" if the warranty expired over 2 months ago...
But it does look like a hardware issue. Your only course of action here is to contact your nearest Nokia Care Point.

  • Hard disk failure E105-S1802 Satellite

My Satellite E105-S1802 is reporting a hard disk failure. This is basically a new laptop that I only use for typing documents and searching internet. Why is it already having hard disk problems? I'm currently in school and need this laptop everday.

hdd will fail early or late in their lives. back up all of your info onto an external hdd or cd/dvd immediatly. if your hdd fails and you didnt back it up you will lose everything forever. toshiba will cover the cost under warranty if you are still in the first year. toshiba will replace it and will not save your old one or the data on it so it is your resposibility to back it up before you send it.

    Hello there, ibreathfootball.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for troubleshooting issues with video on your Mac:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1573
No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering
    Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Help! I have a flickering white screen but I can still turn on my IPod Touch! It is a white flickering but the bottom half of the screen is unseeable. How do I fix it?

Help! I have a flickering white screen but I can still turn on my IPod Touch! It is a white flickering but the bottom half of the screen is unseeable. How do I fix it?

Try the follwing to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have a problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Flickering white screen on iPod touch?

Flickering white screen appears when iPod is turned on. After a few tries I finally get
Few times I get the locked screen.
Tried reset and restart, but problem persists.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • How to connect my Satellite E105-S1402 to an external projector?

    Hi everybody
I own a Satellite E105-S1402 that has an HDMI port. Unfortunately, the projector we use in my office is not HD ready so it has regular VGA input connector (DB9). How can I connect it to this type of projectors? Do I have to use a digital to analog converter? If yes, which one? Is there a cable adaptor?
    pls Help!!!!

    Hi
The Sat E105 was not known to me until now ;)
Well buddy, generally its possible to convert the digital video signal in analog signal (but not analog in digital ? )
To be honest I never tried to connect a non HD device to a HDMI port but maybe the converter like this one would functions:

I have a problem! My speaker volume is very low...
can any one help me, i tried a couple of things but nothing helped.
    thanks!

Most common reason is that the application you're using has its own volume control.
If not that, try reinstalling the driver.

  • Satellite E105: Slow Start Up

Whenever my satellite E105 is completely shut down it seems to take a very long time to start up and beginning running normally.  Is this normal or is there something I should be doing about this?
    Thanks

    Hi nicoletrist,
I dont know what notebook you have exactly but I think the slow Windows start is caused due the viruses that you have or had.
Few years ago I had also a virus and it was causing a very slow start up, it did take up to 10 minutes until Windows was loaded and the only solution to get rid of this was using Toshiba recovery disk.
I would recommend the same to you. Use the Toshiba recovery disk to restore factory settings and backup your data because everything on HDD will be deleted.
Im sure after using recovery disk your notebook will run like a charm again! :)

  • When Satellite E105 will be available in UK

    HEY
Does anyone know if the Satellite E105 (below) will be coming to the UK.
    http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/satellite/E105
    Cheers

To be honest most US and European notebook models are very similar but the notebook model description is different. I can imagine such notebook will be offered here in Europe but at the moment there is no precise info about that.
Ive Googled too but .... nothing.
From time to time check Toshiba UK page. Thats all you can do to see if this model will be there next weeks or months.

  • My home screen bottom is not responding?

I have iPhone 4, and its been with me since November 2010, a week a go the home screen bottom was not responding from first press and I have to push it hard enough so it may respond.
I wanted to check on it, while am in UAE- Abu Dhabi.

    Hi WilyFreddie,
Here's an article with instructions on troubleshooting touchscreen response issues like yours:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
The "Additional Information" section also contains some good tips on isolating how far the touch response is affected, although it sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of where the affected area is.
I hope this helps, have a good one!

  • HT4528 My Iphone 4s is plugged in charging after it has fully died. Instead of the apple appearing and staying constant on the screen...the apple is blinking. What does this mean and how do I get the phone to charge/turn back on.

My Iphone 4s is plugged in charging after it has fully died. Instead of the apple appearing and staying constant on the screen...the apple is blinking. What does this mean and how do I get the phone to charge/turn back on.

    - Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Next try letting the battery fully drain. After charging for a least an hour try again
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store, it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • I have constant flickering in my I Phone please advise me how to fix it??

I have constant flickering in my Iphone please advise me how to fix it?

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
If restoring doesn't help, there is a hardware problem.
