Satellite E300 cannot connect to WLan

Hi,
I have also bought a new Toshiba Satellite e300 yesterday. I have the same issues and have updated to the latest firmware. What is perplexing is, I have 3 other laptops(mac, older toshiba & acer) and 3 iphones, they are all able to connect to my wireless lan and it's only the new toshiba that can't.
The other devices could see other wireless lans in my vicinity while the new toshiba could only see my own wireless with only a bar of signal strength.
Seems like the Atheros device is the only issue. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

>...updated to the latest firmware
Firmware? What firmware?
Maybe other laptops dont use WLAN standard n and your new laptop can do this. Who knows which standards use all these WLANs. Try to check WLAN settings on your router and your new Toshiba.

  • AMD CPU with Vista cannot connect to WLAN using MS-PEAP with WEP-128

We have a notebook "HP Pavilion tx1000 (AMD Turion64 CPU with Vista 32bits)". The notebook is using Broadcom 802.11a/b/g chipset, running AMD and Vista. It cannot associate to WLAN using MS-PEAP and WEP-128. Also, it cannot associate to PEAP and WPA2-AES.
    The AP's log shows:
    Oct 11 15:35:20 CCT: %DOT11-7-AUTH_FAILED: Station xxxx.xxx.xxxx Authentication failed
    The ACS's log shows:
"EAP-TLS or PEAP authentication failed during SSL handshake"
We do not validate the certificate in the wireless setup. Vista's WLAN AutoConfig is used to configure the wireless profile. We are running Autonomous AP with Switch-Based WDS (WLSM).
We have no issue with Intel Centrino on the above authentication and encryption scheme.
Have checked the CCX program, broadcom 802.11a/b/g chipset is supported only for windows 2000 and xp. There is no mentioning about support for vista. Could this be a compatibility issue?
    Please advise and thks

  • Satellite A500-03P: Cannot connect to WLan using Win 7 + Event message

    Hi all,
I very recently bought the Satellite A500 with the included offer of Windows7 when it was available end October 09.
So I got the DVD from Toshibe for the upgrade and followed the steps and upgraded from Visa home premium to Windows 7. I have two issues now.
    1) I am getting a System Event Notification after start up, telling me about the system event log. The full message is below.
Failed to connect to a windows service
Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond
    2) I was able to use this laptop for the internet PRIOR to the upgrade, both via a wireless USB drive as well at office via a modem ADSL.
Now I cannot access the internet after the Windows 7 upgarde!!
As an example the Optus dial up pop up box appears andwhen I click "connect" it does not connect.
    Can anyone help please??
    Thanks
    C I

    Hey buddy,
1)Have you checked the Service Configuration for this service? The start up type of System Event Notification Service must be always set to Automatic. This service is absolutely necessary for Windows and shouldnt be disabled or set to manual start type.
    Check this!
2)To be honest I never heard about internet PRIOR but normally it should also be possible to access the Internet with Windows 7.
Make sure that the WLAN and/or LAN card is installed properly and check the TCP/IP settings. If you are missing some driver you can get it on the Toshiba page.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - Cannot connect to WLAN router

    Hi there,
    I have brought a 2nd hand Satellite Pro, Model version SP6100 (PS610E-029ZV-EN), P4 1.7Ghz, 512Mb, 30GB, with Windows 2000 Pro loaded.
I cannot get the wireless to connect to my router. The switch is in the correct position.
I want to change to XP using the key supplied with the laptop from new (dual OS) however I can't get it to reformat using an XP disc at start up or if I use the recovery cd (start with holding C down and release when it runs up) it begins but displays "invalid drive specification" three times and loads Win2000.
Can anyone advise how (or if!) I can reformat as I would like?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

    Hi Jaba,
I'm quite happy to 'start again' and erase the existing partions via reformatting however I do not know how. I have tried starting with the XP disk in the dvd drive but it starts up in to 2000 without reading the XP disk.
I would prefer WXP than W2000 as it will be for home use.
If you or anyone else can advise on how I proceed from here I would be very grateful.
    Cheers All.

  • Satellite Pro M70: Cannot connect to WLan with ConfigFree

    Hi in Forum.
I'm having trouble with a Satelite Pro M70, concerning gaining control of wireless conections.
When scanning with "The Radar" i ConfigFree for available wireless accesspoints, I get several points available, but is not able to connect to a single one of them. I can read their status and see their WEP encryption marker.
When I try to connect to any one of them, I get a pop up dialog box, which says (translated from danish) "Another suppliers software is in control of the wireless adapter". When trying to set up a connection through the classic windows way, windows states that "windows is not able to configure this wireless connection - if you have another program to administrate wireless connections you must use this". I suppose it refers to ConfigFree...?
Is the unnamed "other supplier" Windows related or maybe McAfee related (Security Suite 2007)?
If you're familiar with this problem or something like it I would be please to know.
By the way - where do I enter WEP encryption keys for my friends WLAN routers in ConfigFree?

    > When trying to set up a connection through the classic windows way, windows states that "windows is not able to configure this wireless connection - if you have another program to administrate wireless connections you must use this". I suppose it refers to ConfigFree...?
It must be not a ConfigFree. Depending on you WLan card an Intel ProSet utility or a Atheros Client utility could controls the Wlan configuration!
Please check if one of the both tools controls the wlan and disable the function!
    > where do I enter WEP encryption keys for my friends WLAN routers in ConfigFree
You should have three different tabs in the Configfree utility.
The second one Device settigns provides device list and there you should find Wireless network connection.
Choose it and use the button Network connections.
There you should find some encryption settings!
Please check also the Profile settings tab and the option called Security settings

  • Cannot connect to WLAN on E63

    Hi,
I had my home network setup sweet for a while but then my phone started dropping the connection like crazy. One second I could go to a webpage and then the next it would say WLAN not found. Keep in mind this was literally 10cm from the wireless router.
Now at work I tried connecting to the WLAN after following a very comprehensive guide put together by our IT department with all the required details. I also downloaded the required certificate and opened it (selecting all 3 of the options that come up, whatever they were).
Another person at work has the E65 and they connected fine. I have attached the settings I used in case you can spot something wrong.
    Cheers

I just got my iPad today and there is no way I am able to connect to my home WLAN network. It is a WPA-PSK protected network. The modem is Arcor-DSL-WLAN-Modem 200. I have turned the firewall off in my modem settings, but still no luck. Please help!!!

  • Satellite A60: Cannot connect to internet via modem - no dial-up

In my Satellite A60, WinXP Home, when I try to connect to the Internet via the Toshiba modem, I get Error 6: invalid handle, and after some attempts I get Error 50: all devices connected / request not supported.
Device Manager / Network / RAS Async Adapter shows an error (black exclamation point on a yellow field).
The driver is asyncmac.sys = MS Remote Access serial network driver.
    I have:
    - tried to uninstall RAS Async Adapter, but no chance, says it may be necessary for boot-up
    - uninstalled / re-installed modem
    - updated winXP via windows update
    - updated bios / modem / network drivers from Toshiba
No luck, the RAS Async Adapter error is still there.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks
    Alessio - Italy

I think this problem concerns Windows XP and RAS Async Adapter, not the modem.
The modem dials correctly the number, negotiates user and password, and then I get the error 6 and 50.
I found on the internet this tip to uninstall and re-install the RAS Async Adapter:
    http://forums.practicallynetworked.com/showthread.php?t=6781
I have followed the instructions and executed RArepair.exe.
It uninstalls and reinstalls the the RAS Async Adapter, but RAS is still in error (yellow field in Device manager).

  • Cannot connect to WLAN because FN+F8 doesnt work!?

Can anybody help or I have to get my notebook to guarantee. I have problem with wireless capability of my computer because FN+F8 doesnt work. I bought my notebook 3 days ago and thats very big problem for me. I have to get to wireless connection.
    Please help
    Riuno

I had the same problem on my new L300 laptop and the wireless adapter couldn't be found.
I was advised by my dealer that this is a problem that the software was not installed by Toshiba and the solution is to
create a backup DVD and reboot from that.
I created the DVD and the machine advised me to shut down & install some updates that had materialised.
    The updates solved my problem.
I didn't get as far as rebooting from the DVD.
I don't know if the process of creating the backup opened the wireless driver, or whether while searching this forum (using a cable) the computer automatically checked for windows updates, but any way, it now works!

  • Cant connect to WLAN?

After installing IOS 4.0.2 on my iPhone cannot connect to WLAN anymore. Mostly it dont fint any WLAN's at all. Sometimes i can find a network, but when I try to connect I cant. No matter if it is an open WLAN or encrypted.
Is this a known problem with this upgrade?

I have found the cover over the sim card slot is a little fiddly to insert into the slot. Can you connect to your network operator (gsm or 3g)  or does the phone stay in offline mode. A little more info would help.

  • Unable to connect Satellite C55-A to the WLAN

Hi I am unable to connect to my WLAN.
My router was zapped in the latest storms and talktalk sent me a replacement. Whilst setting it up I decided to change the ssid and the psk.
Every other device in our household (laptop, desktop and tablets) will connect to the new router but not my Satellite C55A. It can see the new ssid but when I enter the psk it gives the message "cannot connect to this network". I have win 8.1 wlan adapter is atheros ar956x, driver is 10.0.0.263.
    Any suggestions?

It is really strange. Usually there should not be some problem. When the WLAN is detected all you must do is to put right password.
Have you checked all WLAN settings on your machine?
Is there some possibility to test it with other WLAN by your friend, just to see if the problem is the same?

  • Satellite Pro 6000: Cannot find correct WLAN driver

    Hi,
I have re-installed Windows Xp on my notebook Satellite Pro 6000. All is working except for the wireless connectivity.
When looking in the device manager, I see that the WLAN driver has not (or incorrectly) been installed.
So looked at the Toshiba site for the corresponding drivers, but I am not able to find the correct one. I did found some drivers, which seems to be the one, but unfortunately after installing the drivers, the wireless connectivity is still not available.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards, Robert

    Hi
I dont believe that you cannot install the Wlan driver.
Go to the device manger and find out which Wlan card was installed. (check properties)
If the WLan card is placed under network adapters so the driver was installed properly.
But if you see a unknown device in device manager so you need the WLan driver.
Then download the WLan driver from the Toshiba site. Be sure that you use the right driver for the right OS!
You can try firstly to uninstall the old driver and then to install the new one.

  • Satellite Pro L300-1B9 cannot connect to my Wireless router

    Hi!
I have activated the wireless nw on SAT L300 PRO 1B9 - but with many fight...
First I needed to find the switch to enable (I never though that it have... :-) ).
Then I needed to deinstall Atheros in Windows, and set the flags on (enable) in the Windows driver.
But in both Linux and Windows I couldn't connect to my Wireless router.
My luck was that some of my neightbours have security-disabled, open wireless network, what I could map to test.
The test was succecfully with that network, but my wireless router was unreachable.
From other machine I could reach it.
    The result was:
If I set the router to broadcast the SSID, both OSs (Ubuntu + Windows) can use wireless network.
But if I disable the broadcasting (to protect my router), the network driver cannot use my router, it does not matter I pre-set the SSID...
A router is WRT54G, and it is working with other computers if I hide the SSID, but with SAT L300 Pro cannot connect (with this option).
Do anybody knows why? What I need to do to I could hide the SSID from the bad guys?
    Thanks for any help!
    Regards:
    dd

I dont know which Windows OS do you use but if you use original Vista, I think, right WLAN driver is part of the package. So WLAN card must be installed properly.
It is not easy to say what is wrong there but if the notebook can see and detect your WLAN network on notebooks side everything must be OK. Try to restart your router and check all settings.
In my opinion there is some problem with WLAN settings.
