Satellite E55-A5114 How to remove rear cover?

This notebook is a pandora's box. The rear cover, which is the entire backside of the notebook, has 12 screws.  Removing those twelve screws seem to offer no opportunity to easy the back panel off. It's on there extremely tight. (Congrats to the Toshiba engineers for quality engineering). Toshiba currently doesn't have a manual of disassemble nor will they probably ever offer one. I really would like to keep this notebook. I know it's like a rude attempt at coping an Apple Macbook Pro but nonetheless its a marvel of engineering and beauty. Anyone know the sequence of procedures to open this bad boy up. My SSD can't wait any longer.

Thats a total Crock, I have a P-70 Sattleite and it says for all other models, I hope it means for the E 55 because for the P70, there were just 2 screws I had mine off and the new  SSD in about 5 minutes, I'm a sys admin, so it wasn't that hard. They ususally have the instructions in the PDF for your model. Which is good, because old Toshiba ones they used to not. One thing which I have found I don't like sent mine back to Toshiba and even told them I would pay for the upgrade. I cannot stand the Intel Wi-fi, one I don't care about Widi, I bought my laptop for gaming, not widi. I had to go as so far as to drill a whole and run a cat 5e cable to my router to have a direct connection. I would have paid easily for the upgraded wi-fi card different from intel of course, the only good things they make are CPUs and mother boards, Please stay away from Wi-fi. They have a spat going on between Microsoft and Intel, on a re-oredering issue that causes the PC to drop wifi connections for no reason. If I knew that. I would have gotten a diffeent maker, definalty different card. Intel says its fixed waitinng on a fix from Microsoft guess that will come out in windows 9.  Sad thing, I had a Toshiba with  I7 with 8 gigs and a SSD, and a great video card, my P70 is a I7 with 16 gigs of ram and 2 gigs of seperate ram for the video card and a SSD, which should stomp my old laptop. Speed wise it does, but at least my old one worked and had no problems. This one, SMH everyday.

  • Satellite 1410-902: How to remove a HDD

Hi. Does anyone know how to remove a HDD from a Toshiba Satellite 1410-902?
Opening the panel there it is the HDD, but there is no clear way to get it out...I don't want to force.
    Thanx for the help.
    Luca.

    Hi
The HDD slot is placed at the bottom of the unit. You have only to remove the screw which secures the slot cover. Then you can simply remove the HDD.
    But be careful.

  • Satellite Pro 4260: How to remove the DVD drive?

I have a Satellite Pro 4260 and it appears that the DVD drive is broken and I want to replace it. I cannot figure out how to remove the old one.
Does anyone know how? Is there a manual available showing how?
    Thanks

    Hi
This notebook is not know to me but a checked some sites in the net and it seems that the top cover must be removed.
Then lift up the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive to disconnect PJ700 on the CD-ROM/DVD board from PJ15 on the system board.
Remove two screws securing the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM connector board.
Separate the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM connector board and CD-ROM/DVD-ROM connector brace from the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive
Well, I think its not easy for someone with no experience.
Therefore if you dont know how to do it and you have no much experience you should ask someone how knows what to do ;)

  • Satellite A30-921: How to remove and replace the memory?

hi, can anyone help me how to remove and replace the memory of sat A30-921. and also, please give a detailed instruction.
    thank you in advance.

    Hi
There is no much to explain. At the bottom side in the middle there is placed memory cover (fixed with two screws). Remove the cover and you will see 2 slots there. I dont know how much memory has you there but as Stefan said you can use max 2 GB of RAM (2x PC2700 1024MB - PA3313U-1M1G). How to remove memory modules you can see on http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/189/5

  • Satellite Pro A120: How to remove the CD/DVD drive

I have 2 main problems and can't seems to fully open case.
Does anyone know how to remove the dvd-rom?
But my mainproblem is the power swith ribbon (blue) has come loose from the motherboard. But as i can't fully open the case im using tweezers to try to recconect it.
Doesn't seem to want to go in.
Is there a clip on the motherboard connector or is it just push in? A photo or diagram would be useful.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

One question; why do you do this?
I mean why your want to open the notebook?
Fact is that the Pro A120 Satellite is not a old notebook and I presume the warranty is valid.
If you remove the notebook covers you will lose the warranty!!!
The CD/DVD removing is very easy.
Usually it is secured with one screw which can be found at the bottom of the unit. You have to remove it firstly and then it should be able to take off the ODD.

  • How to add rear cover artwork in itunes 11.x?

Is it possible to add rear cover arrtwork to a imported cd?
    jeff

I do it all the time.  I use an older iTunes and I believe they have changed this part of the interface but I simply drag the next item of artwork into the artwork browser window in the bottom left corner of my iTunes (iTunes 7.5).  I suspect it is still possible wherever you edit artwork in the newer version.

  • Satellite P10-804: How to remove the HDD?

I'd like to remove the 60Gb internal hard drive from my satellite P10-804 and replace it with a bigger drive, but cannot figure out how to get inside the case to remove the HDD.
Does anyone have details on how to do this?

    Hi
In my knowledge the HDD must be placed under the optical dirve.
To remove the HDD, first remove the battery pack and optical drive, then follow the steps below:
    1. Remove four black screws securing the aluminum shield covering the HDD and lift it out.
    2. Gently pull the HDD toward the computers front panel to disconnect it from the system board, then lift it out.
    3. Remove the four silver screws that secure the HDD case to the HDD.
But be careful. If you have no experiences ask someone with more experience in such replacements.

  • Satellite 5205-S505 - How to remove battery with damaged battery latch?

I try to set apart my notebook(satellite 5205-s505) today. But I found the release latch had been damaged somehow. What can I do?
my lcd serious damaged. Can I have method to shut down the lcd to save power (just use external moniter)?

This with battery is very good question. I believe you are the first one who asked this.
If you cannot remove it the only way is, I believe, to disassemble whole notebook and somehow make the battery free.
When you use external monitor you should use FN+F5 key combination and switch to external monitor only. Notebooks LCD will be OFF.
You can also check advanced display settings. Usually there you can also find settings to define where the desktop should be shown.
    Check it out!

  • Satellite R630-14J -How to remove keyboard?

    Hi there
I have bought a Toshiba Satellite R630-14J, and i would like to remove de keyboard for clean it.
I have tried to remove the plastic case between the keys, but I have not succeeded.
    Any Ideas would be appreciated.

    >i would like to remove de keyboard for clean it.
In my opinion its not necessary to remove the keyboard in order to clean it.
First of all its possible to remove the single keycaps. In case you would not be able to remove dirt, you could remove the keycap firstly. But be careful...
In your case I would use a cotton wool tip and some drops of alcohol in order to clean the keyboard

  • How to remove cover over RAM compartment on a Pavillion g7 1260us

This is my first HP laptop. The Dells I have owned were pretty straightforward when it came to removing the cover over the RAM compartment.  This HP has me freakin' stumped.  I remove the battery and the only two screws I see holding on the very LARGE L-shaped cover (covers maybe 40% of the underside of this machine).  Once the screws are out I cannot go further.  Can only pry a corner of the cover up at the battery comparment end of it.  There are no "pry slots" and no obvious way to work the thing loose.  I don't want to get too physical as I do not want to break the cover.  The machine is only a month old!  Not that I would want to bust it if it were an older machine.
I need guidance from someone who has added RAM to their Pavillion g7 to tell me, step by step, how to get the bottom off this darned thing.  I know what to do with the RAM once I am in.  It is the getting it that is holding up the operation.

Well I did finally get the cover off.  It was a matter of half-closing my eyes, getting my finger under the corner of the cover at the battery compartment and slowly pulling up harder and harder.  Once one of the retaining tabs finally released I could peek under the cover and see the other tab locations.  I worked my finger along and pulled up near each tab and the cover finally succumbed to my persistence.
Once in, adding the extra RAM card took maybe a minute.  And replacing that cover is WAY easier/faster than getting the darned thing off!

  • How do I remove the cover to access the back of my 5c and insert the sim

How do I remove the cover of my 5c in order to access the back of the phone to insert the sim?

You DON'T remove the cover to access and insert the sim card in the the phone.
The sim card tray on an iPhone is either at the top of the phone or on the side of the phone - just look at the top and then use the sim card tool that came with your phone and this will open the sim card tray.  You have no need to take the back off your phone whatsoever and has already been pointed out, if you do so, you warranty is voided, as the casing of iPhones are NOT designed to be removed.

  • Lenovo Flex 2 14: How to remove the compartment cover?

I've got the new Lenovo Flex 2 14 with a 500 gb HHD. Now I want to upgrade to a ssd.
The problem is that the hardware maintenance manual does not specify how to remove the compartment cover in case of the flex 2 14, which has no optical drive like the flex 2 15.
I removed the screws that secure the compartment cover, but there is no way to remove the cover. Does anyone had the same problem and found a solution?
I'd be very grateful for any tips!

    hi gi_homer,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Your issue might be similar to this thread.
In addition to the screws around the compartment cover, have you also removed the screws underneath the keyboard?
