Satellite L - After BIOS update it won't start up again

I just got an email saying there was a BIOS update for my laptop. It started to install but my computer shut down and won't start back up
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
The update was: ACPI Flash BIOS version 1.90 for Sat/Sat Pro L355D/L305D (PSLE0U, PSLC0/1U)

Hello
And what Satellite notebook you have exactly? Is your notebook designed for this update or is it another model?
After a failed BIOS update you can try this workaround: Remove the AC/DC adaptor and battery then wait one hour. After this connect the AC/DC adaptor and battery again. Now try to start the notebook again.
If the notebook doesnt start you need help from a notebook technician. Therefore contact the nearest authorized service provider. They can help and will try to reflash the ROM module I think or the mainboard must be exchanged.

  • Satellite P500 - After BIOS update the number pad isn't working anymore

I just got a Satellite P500 and am running Windows 7. I downloaded all of the latest drivers and updated the system bios to version 1.70 (from Toshiba's support website). Now, my number pad on the keyboard is not working.
The numlock light is on and when I hit the "6" key on the number pad, it turns the light on/off but the behavior of the other keys does not change whether it is on or off. The "-" key enters a "6" but none of the other keys (except "enter" does anything.
I removed the keyboard driver and restarted to re-install the keyboard driver but that had not effect. The keyboard did work for a few days after I flashed the bios but seems to have stopped since I started using a USB mouse. I tried uninstalling the USB mouse driver but that did not do anything either (it was a Logitech driver).
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

I'm having this exact same issue, Did the BIOS update, which fixed the problem for Vista X64, formatted the machine to windows 7, Number pad keys except 6 and - Register as the Fn Button, Bringing up the function shortcuts display when pressed in windows, recovered from 7 to Vista X64 using Built in recovery partition, Problem still exactly the same. i have reset BIOS to defaults twice now, which has not resolved the issue. the next step will be to reflash the bios with the update again to see if this will fix the issue as it did once before. Laptop Model P500/025 Or Part number PSPE8A-025002
*EDIT: I reflashed the BIOS with 1.70 Again and the number pad is back to normal. Seems like an extreme fix for a silly problem. Every time you format you have to Reflash your bios, risky no?*

  • Satellite A300 - After BIOS update black screen

    Hello all,
I just applied the BIOS update on my Satellite A300. After the update successful, the system does a reboot. Now when I try to power it up I get no display, I can hear the hear running, the CD Drive reading the DVD, led blinking.
The Toshiba ASP tolled me (phone call) the mainboard should be replaced after a unsuccessful bios update, but it's very expensive for me, :(
Please can you tell me if they are any way to fix it without mainboard replacement? The bios is a Insyde and according to the website the bios has bios [Recovery Technology|http://www.insydesw.com/press/2008/press_060308.htm]. I guess that the ASP doesn't know that.
Please can you tell me how to start the recovery procedure if it's possible (key combination?),
Any help about fixing the laptop without mainboard replacement will be much appreciated.

There are cases when the chip that containes the bios is removed from the motherboard and with a memory writing device (special to do this) it is posible to rewrite the bios(in my country, Romania it is not possible at the Toshiba Service, they change the motherboard wich cost 400-500 euro, but there are guys in electronics who do things like this...).
This is the happy case to rewrite, when this is possible. But there are exceptions when you can't do anything and you have to change the motherboard.(bad bios update coud burn your entire motherboard or several components /parts).
In what I've read " For example, on other manufactures PC compatible systems with Award BIOS and AMI BIOS there is dedicated small area, often about 8 kiB or so, called bootblock which starts first" , if your bios si from award or ami they have lets say a small progam which starts first, checks if bios is oki then is booting normal , if not it tries to recover it and boot.
In your case this is not possible even if you have the specific computer with that kind of bios because the screen doesn't start.
*Your case is simillar to mine* so you could hope that your video card is broken and not your motherboard.
My advice to you is to go to the service and diagnostic the problem and see what is the solution.

  • Satellite M40- after BIOS update sound doesnt work anymore

After i was update my Toshiba M40 (ATI) from default bios to version 1.5, my sound card (audio) was disabled...
I can't use audio - after reinstall of drivers - it's found a new hardware - but say - is broken...
    What's up?

    Hello polewiak
I am a little bit confused with your BIOS update. I have checked the Toshiba download page and there are updates available but you must be careful which one you use.
Version 1.50 is designed for units with INTEL graphic chip and version 1.20 for units with ATI graphic chip. If I am understood you right you have updated INTEL BIOS version on your ATI unit. Am I right?

  • Satellite M40X: After Bios update keyboard keys don't work properly

I have a Satellite M40X and I had update the Bios to v. 1.60 and now the keys u, m, 7 and the arrow up are not working properly. The problem is that there is not other Bios version to use.
How can I resolve my problem?
Can I recover the old bios version?
    Thanks
    Gabriel

    Hi there,
no you wont be able to recover the old BIOS. The only two options are:
    1. Retry the BIOS update and check if its working
    2. In case of no success, please visit the [ASP Locator|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT] to search for the nearest ASP in your country and to ask them for a hardware checkup and repair.

  • Satellite L - After BIOS update the screen is black

    Hello,
I made a BIOS update on my Windows 7 64 bit and then the OS get frozen. After I restarted the laptop, there is only black and nothing appears on the laptop.
    What can I do?

    Hi
Have you tried to remove the battery and AC/DC adaptor? You should test this and after one hour you can connect both devices again.
In worst case you need help from an authorized service provider. The technicians can try to reflash the ROM module.
Sorry, but I think in this case you can do nothing.

  • Satellite M100 - After BIOS update it doesn't boot anymore

    Hey everybody :)
BIOS problem: I was updating *BIOS* by WinFlash and my laptop "freezed" so BIOS is DAMAGED. Laptop does't boot up.
I was updating my XP laptop to *BIOS 3.00* version.
    How to repare BIOS?

    Hey mate,
I agree with Akuma and I think in this case you can do nothing. If the notebook froze during BIOS update I think the ROM module is now destroyed and must be reflashed or exchanged. In this case only an ASP can help you.
On the Toshiba website you can find a list of ASPs and you should contact the nearest one. Speak with the technicians and they will try to help you.
    Good luck! :)

  • E540 After BIOS update the computer wont start

    Hi!
After I did an BIOS update from windows the computer wont start. Only the green FN key and the red "i" in the word ThinkPad lights up!
    I can't access BIOS.
Tried tho remove the small CMOS battery for an minute

If these long boot symptoms, following the BIOS update occur, multiple customers have reported success in resolving them  by disabling Intel AMT and setting the security chip, TPM, as active in the BIOS.
Steps to disable Intel AMT and enable TPM settings as below.
    Boot into BIOS
    Select Config
    Select Intel AMT
Press Enter key on Intel AMT Control and select Disable
    Press ESC twice
    Select Security
Select Security chip and select Enable
    Press F10 and click Yes.

  • After last update computer won't start

on febuary 20th I downloaded the newest system updates for leopard, after getting them downloaded I restarted my computer and haven't got it up and running since.
after restarting the first time it went to the grey apple logo screen with the progress circle at the bottom and ticked away for a few hours, then it flashed over to a blue screen. Since that time every time I've tried starting my computer it has had the same problem.
I can't boot into safemode, I get no warnings, just a grey screen that eventually goes to a blue screen, in the blue screen I get my mouse arrow that I can move but nothing else.
I've talked to some of the IT guys where I work, but have had no luck, and I've tried the reset the PRAM, and it still can't boot in any mode, and no other discussion seems to have a solution that I've found. Its now going on a month and I have work I need to get done and have had to resort to the use of my old ragidy peice of crap (PC) which is like trying to do brain surgery with a plastic spoon
any and all help is appreciated
    thanks

  • After Security Update it won't start

'm freaking out here because I just downloaded the last two Security Updates and the Java QT update also . When I clicked on restart after the download I've got gray-screen with spinning thing for the last hour .
Should I try to turn it off with the button ?
    --HELP
Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   tiger eMac

It's not uncommon for the first start after an OS or security update to take an excessively long time, with following starts returning to normal speed. One hour does sound like a problem, through. If it's still stuck at the grey screen / while Apple logo / spinning gear after 90+ minutes, I'd reluctantly shut down with the power button, then try to Start Up in Safe Mode, allowing at least 20 to 30 minutes for the faceless disk repair operation that's part of Safe Boot to work.
Disconnect all peripherals from the eMac other than the Apple USB keyboard and mouse before trying the shutdown / safe boot steps.
When you get the Mac to restart, run Disk Utility> Repair Permissions on the hard drive as a check.

  • After Firmware update iMac won't start up

Hi I have this problem with my iMac G5
I try the explanation about downgrade to 10.4.9 But when I go to the Disk Utility and perform verify disk the answer is "
Verify and Repair Disk "Macintosh HD"
    Checking HFS Plus Volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog File.
Keys out of order (in bold red)
Rebuilding Catalog B-tree. (in bold green)
The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired.
Error: the underlying task reported failure on exit
    ( in bold red)
    1 HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error. (in red)
    Repair attempted on 1 volume
1 volume could not be repaired (in red)
Then comes a window saying that the first aid failed!
    Now what can I do.
And if some could tell me how do I backup using firewire cables to another mac.
    Thank's

First, the back up with firewire is Target Disk Mode. If the other computer can see yours, you should be able to drag your data over.
As far as your problem is concerned, did you try the repair from your install disc? If not, start up from your install disc holding down the C key, then go to Disk Utility and then Verify and repair hard drive.
Let us know how you make out,

  • Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update

    Hi.
Yesterday I did a BIOS update on my Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E-03Z00QGR with the appropriate flash:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=153&selProduct=624&langua ge=17&selOS=10&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload =&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=userMachines&search =&action=search&macId=&country=all&selectedLanguag e=17&type=all&page=1&ID=58477&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42
    bios-20070709111839.zip
After the flashing procedure the machine rebooted automatically, but unfortunately it now keeps hanging at the Thoshiba welcome screen. Also pressing F2 or F12 won't change anything. It seems like the BIOS is corrupt.
I saw, that in the BIOS package are delivered two flash files (s10gm590.rom and s10pm590.rom). But just executing the SanAntonion10 BIOS590MP.exe a .vbs script is started that decides automatically chooses and loads a flash file. Maybe it chose the wrong one?
What shall I do now? Is there a way to restore the BIOS, or do I have to send my notebook in?
    Thanks in advance
    MAT

    > Satellite A100-590 PSAA9E freezes on Toshiba welcome screen after BIOS update
What to say Marc. It looks like you have used a wrong BIOS version or you have updated the BIOS in wrong way.
You could try to access the BIOS and try to set the settings to default.
Dont forget to save the settings if you will exit the BIOS.
But if this procedure does not help, you will have to contact the ASP in your country.
Possibly the guys will try to flash the BIOS again with other special version.
    Good luck
    Greetings

  • After BIOS update Satellite L350-172 doesn't start anymore

    Satellite L350-172 Bios-Update from bios-20090203164614 to bios-201002250
I just updatet the BIOS of my notebook from 1.60 to 2,20. Now the Notebook doesn't start any longer.
"It was stopped for reason not to damage the Computer" - blue schreen.
How can I downgrade the bios again? Or - what have I to change in the bios-settings?

    Hi schuwe,
Im a little bit confused about your posting. How do you tell your BIOS not to restart?
Anyway, after BIOS update you should load the default settings in BIOS.
Did you choose the right BIOS especially for your model?

  • Satellite Pro L300: BSOD after BIOS update

    Hi
after update the Bios of Satellite Pro L300, the windows not start!
Its show the blue dead screen!
    What can i do?

    Hi
Are you able to access the BIOS settings?
Im not quite sure why this BSOD appears but possibly the SATA mode settings have been changed after BIOS update
Usually the SATA mode should be set to AHCI if the SATA drivers are installed.
But if the SATA drivers are not included the SATA mode should be set to compatible.
    Please check this!
Furthermore you could set the BIOS to the default settings and could try to boot the machine again.
