Satellite L100-108: Upgrade from Intel 3945 WLan to Intel 4965agn

Hi,
It is possible to replace the wifi card that brought the Satellite L100-108 (Intel 3945ABG) for the one Intel 4965AGN?
Both cards are mini pci-e and the chipset on the motherboard (with the Everest says only that it is Toshiba), is the Intel i945GM.
Thanks in advance

Hi
Why you want to upgrade the WLan card?
I mean the Intel 3945ABG provide three different WLan standards.
OK, the Intel 4965AGN provides the 802.11 N standard but this standard cannot be used because the WLan card would need 3 wire wlan antenna
As far as I know the L100-108 has been equipped with two wires Wlan antenna which is designed for A B and G WLan standard.

  • I need field replaceable unit documentation for Satellite L100-108

Hello, I need field replaceable unit documentation for Toshiba Satellite L100-108 because I want to disassembly the screen.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks.

I doubt that other notebook manufactures are release her service manuals. Why should they do it?
A few years ago I had a notebook from another manufacture and I couldnt download service manual because its not for public too.
I can understand why these manuals are not for public because notebook disassembling is not so easy. Its pretty tricky and you must remove a lot of screws and parts. I think the most people dont have experience with this and so I go to an authorized service provider. The notebook technicians are the experts for this. ;)

I'm not sure if it is because there isn't enough RAM
Has anyone else had a similiar problem on this laptop?

Toshiba have a guide to upgrading at [http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletin.jsp?ct=SB&soid=2450599&ref=EV]. I'd go through their suggested method and then come back if you still have problems

  • Satellite P200-17C - Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7

Am looking to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, anybody done this? And was thier any problems with drivers etc?
    Thanks

    Hi
I dont know what you want to hear now exactly but you can download all drivers here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
As far as I know this P200 model belongs to the PSPB6 series.
Therefore it seems that all drivers available for Windows 7 32bit.
Generally about Vista and Windows 7 I can say that new OS runs much faster and never had a problem as yet. I can recommend it! :)

  • Satellite pro s300m - Upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Business

    Hello All
I bought a new Satellite Pro S300m Ez2401 and it came with Vista business and i downgraded it to XP Pro using the XP Pro media that accompanied the Laptop.
If i want to upgrade it to Vista business, How do i do it? I did not create a recovery Media when i switched on the system the first time and Vista Business came up.
Would the preinstalled Vista Business be in the Hard Disk and can i upgrade it from there? If so, would it also have the drivers along with it?
How many Intel WiFi 5100 AGN  antennas does my laptop have?
    Thank you.
    Jay
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Jay,
To find out whether or not your recovery partition is still intact, shut down the system (not in Stand By or Hibernate mode).  Then press and hold down the '0' (zero) key while turning the system on.  It will boot into a recovery menu if that partition is intact.
You won't be able to upgrade to Vista Business, and by that I mean that you cannot retain your data and programs.  But you can return the laptop to the factory condition with a fresh installation of Vista Business.
So you'll end up with exactly what you had when you first took it out of the box and turned it on, including an appropriate set of drivers.  Before running the recovery process, you'll want to backup all data you want to keep, and when recovery is complete you'll need to reinstall any software.
If holding down '0' while turning the system on does not result in a recovery menu then you can call Customer Service (800-457-7777) to order a set of recovery media for a nominal fee.

  • Satellite Pro L - Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 possible?

Does anyone know if the Satellite Pro Recovery disc (Vista) qualifies as a basis for upgrading to Windows 7 using a Microsoft Upgrade Edition disc? Or is the full retail new version needed?

    Hi seoras,
I dont see a reason why it should be not possible...
I mean if you install Vista from Toshiba recovery disk its the same Vista as from a Microsoft disk but with all drivers and tools from Toshiba.
So just buy a Windows 7 upgrade disk that is cheaper as a full version and start the upgrade. Thats all!
If you need new drivers after Windows 7 installation, just check the Toshiba website. On this page you can find all downloads for your notebook.

    Hi
Here once again the link posted by Paolo:

    You need two disks:
    - Toshiba Windows 7 Driver and Software Upgrade disc
    - Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade CD
    Here the whole procedure:
+Upgrade Guide with Toshiba Win7 Driver Upgrade DVD and Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade+
    1. Toshiba recommends a clean installation of Microsoft Windows Vista.
Please store all your Data to an external HDD or other storage Media and recover your notebook.
    2. After this, the drivers for the upgrade can be installed. Please insert the Toshiba Windows 7 Driver and Software Upgrade disc.
This disc contains a tool which automatically uninstalls all spuriously moduls and afterwards it installs all necessary drivers for Windows 7.
While this process is running, the computer may reboot sometimes.
If any messages appear on the screen, please follow them and take actions if needed.
    3. If the driver installation is completed, please insert the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade CD and start the Upgrade.

  • Satellite A300D-15B - Upgrade from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit?

I've added an extra 4GB of memory to my Satellite A300D-15B (PSAKCE). When I try to run the Windows 7 64bit upgrade it fails with a blue screen.
Is it possible to upgrade this model to 64 bit Windows 7?

    Hi ronchennells,
Theoretically it should be possible to upgrade to Windows 7 64bit You can do/install everything what you want but the important point is drivers
On the official Toshiba website there are no Windows 7 64bit drivers but you can try the Vista 64bit drivers. Normally they are compatible
Generally speaking its not necessary to upgrade to 4GB RAM or more for using Windows 7 64bit. You can also use the 64bit version with 2GB only.
What happens if you start the upgrade with original memory module only?

In modern times, SATA drive is considered an IDE drive. IDE Mode of the modern controller - IDE, AHCI, RAID. IDE relates to both PATA and SATA drives. Terminology can be misleading at times.
A SATA drive is not an IDE drive.
Many people get fooled by a Windows "legacy".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA
If AHCI is not enabled by the motherboard and chipset, SATA controllers typically operate in "IDE emulation" mode
Windows device drivers that are labeled as SATA are often running in IDE emulation mode unless they explicitly state that they are AHCI mode,
in RAID mode, or a mode provided by a proprietary driver
In any case, you are right: "The PATA (flat cable) devices will not work on the newer boards".

  • Satellite A305D-S6848 - Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 32bit

I started the upgrading process, but it giving me a message that, I need to uninstall ATI CATALYST Install Manager, ATI Catalyst Control Center. My laptop is model A305D-S6848 Vista 32 bit. I don't know where to start to get that so can somebody point me to right direction to get that?
My laptop use ATI Radeon X1250 Graphic Card.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks

    Hi buddy,
I think you have to uninstall the ATI Catalyst driver (display driver) because the version is too old and not compatible with Vista. You can uninstall the display driver in control panel > uninstall software. There you should find a list with all installed programs and drivers.
Newer display driver you can download on official Toshiba website:

  • Upgrading from a 20" G5 to Intel Quad Core

I'm considering the purchase of a new iMac 27". I'm wondering if most of my work on this computer is transferable, photos, movies, Appleworks, Final Cut Express 3.5.

User data is generally usable on a new iMac, as long as the application that created the document runs on the new iMac.
AppleWorks is an old PowerPC program. On an Intel Mac, it will run using a translation feature called Rosetta, and people have reported here that it still works fine. It should be possible to open AppleWorks documents using iWork, Apple's current office suite (a separate purchase).
Most older software that are PowerPC apps will work using Rosetta, but if there is a more current Universal or Intel version of the app available, you should switch to it.

  • Satellite C850-108 - WLan card driver for Win 7

I have a Toshiba Satellite C850-108 and recently it just completely crashed.
Being stupid i never got chance to create a recovery disc etc for it.
I have a friend that sent me a disc to help reinstall windows 7.
However when i did this i lost all drivers and had to completely reinstall them as Iv been finding out which ones i need.
One big problem i have had is that when i install the driver for network controller it just refuses to install saying there is no network driver detected.
I have tried going to devices and yellow exclamation etc but still doesnt find anything.
I have download numerous drivers from Toshiba to try correct this but still have the same problem. I can only connect to the internet via an Ethernet.
It is as if I do not even have a Wirless card.
Im very puzzled and frustrated with this if anyone can help i would very much appreciate this.
P.s i installed using 32bit but when i check my serial number it states that it is 64 bit. Could this be part if the cause?.

    Hi
As Im not mistaken the Satellite C850-108 supports the Realtek RTL8188CE WLan card.
So you need to install the Realtek WLan driver for the RTL8188CE chip.
You should be able to download the driver directly from Realtek page:
    [Realtek Drivers & Utilities|http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level= 5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false]

I would like to know if in a Satellite L100 is posiible to change the 4965AGN wifi card for one 3945ABG or there may be problems or incompatibilities with the motherboard chipset which is an i945 GM GM.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello enoac
You wrote you want to CHANGE WLAN card.
If you want to use internal WLAN card and get it work please let us see what can be done with it.
Your postings dont offer much info and I dont understand what the problem is exactly.
Is card installed and listed in device manager properly?
Can you enable or disable WLAN card using FN+F8 key combination?
Is WLAN LED on when you enable WLAN card?
Can you scan area and see available WLAN networks?
What happen if you try to connect to your WLAN network?
Have you tested WLAN with different routers?
Please dont discuss using one or two sentences. Explain exactly what happen and what have you tried to do already.

  • My WLAN chokes when going too fast (Intel 3945 w/ Netgear) [SOLVED]

I recently upgraded my Internet connection from 8/1 to 24/10 and since then I have been able to download at the highest speed without any problems, except for this one of course.
When I'm torrenting and getting higher than 2 MB/s (yes, megabytes) speeds, the connection suddenly "chokes" and puts some sort of threshold on itself at about 150 KB/s. The threshold is not put only on the torrents, but on my entire connection to *this* computer. All of the other computers connected to the router still work fine. This problem doesn't go away unless I reconnect myself to my router. This happens only on Linux, not on Windows as far as I can tell.
What can be the problem? I have Intel 3945 drivers and 2.6.31.

This is *EXACTLY* what has been happening to me; thought I was going crazy. I also have an intel iwl3945 and 2.6.31. My router is a netgear wgr614v6. When I associate from *this* computer, after a seemingly random period of time, my connection gets chocked from the normal ~1.5 mb/s to 113 kb/s. This only happens to this computer, however, it *doesn't* happen over the local network, just to the internet. I can only use my full bandwidth after re-associating with the router. I was thinking it had to be a bug in the router firmware, but this looks like too much of a coincidence now...
    what router do you use?
