Satellite L300-1AQ - Password Utility and Firmware installation issue

Hi
I have recently reinstalled Vista after crash of the first and then installation of linux.
Now I have installed most of the Toshiba services packages back on my notebook Sat L300 1AQ but the firmware and password utilities are not getting installed back.
Firmware shows error message of available target is not available.
Password utility shows the serial is not correct.
don't understand why these error messages come and how can I deal with this.
Thanks
Anees

Hi
Firmware update should be done only if you would notice some problems with the ODD (CD/DVD drive)
Furthermore the notebook has been equipped with different drives and the firmware published on the Toshiba page seems to be designed only for some certain ODDs.
So if the notebook uses other ODD then the firmware update would be not supported.
Check More info on the driver page to get some details about the firmware update and what ODDs are supported!
Im not quite sure why the Supervisor Password Utility couldnt be installed but I think the message: wrong serial will appear only if you tried to install a tool which was not designed for this notebook model or for the OS.
The L300-1AQ seems to belong to the PSLB8E series and you should ensure that you have chosen the right model on the driver page.
PS: be sure that VAP has been installed firstly!

    Hi
Did you try to reinstall the Toshiba BT stack?
Usually this should help to get rid of this error message.
Here you can download the newest BT stack:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
Remove firstly the old BT software from the system and after new reboot install the BT downloaded from the Toshiba BT page.

  • Satellite L300-1AQ - Charger from L450-11V compatible?

    I have a Satellite L300-1AQ laptop supplied with a PA3468E-1AC3 charger. I have recently bought a L450-11V laptop supplied with a PA3715E-1AC3 charger.
Does anyone know what the differences are between these chargers as they both have the same output voltage and current ratings, and, will they damage my laptops if swapped?

    Hi panetony,
If both chargers have the same output voltage and ampere you can use it, of course.
Only the exact voltage is important but an higher ampere is no problem.

  • Satellite L300-1AQ and Wireless 'Lock Up' issue

On occasions the little wireless icon on the taskbar displays a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it and internet ceases operation (other computers in the house work fine so its not the router). Moving the cursor over the icon or right clicking show no messages instantly though after probably a minute or two it says 'limited connectivity or 'repair..
Because the icon is so slow and unresponsive I usually turn off the computer - this takes far longer than normal to log off and shut down.
On restarting the laptop the internet will not work - there is a red cross on the wireless icon. Right click on this and repair shows option 'turn on wireless utility' and when selected it reconnects. The wireless switch on the laptop is left on all the time.
This occasional lock up and required reboot is a nuisance, but I am asking what is the problem and how can I rectify it?
    Thanks

    Hey,
As Tonny wrote make sure that you are using latest BIOS and WLAN version. Please check this on the Toshiba page first!
If new driver version doesnt help it seems to be a hardware malfunction but its not easy to say what is causing this The WLAN card can be replaced in few minutes from a notebook technician but in my opinion it could be also a problem of the WLAN antennas or mainboard. Its hard to say so the notebook should be checked from a authorized Toshiba technician.

  • Satellite L300-1AQ - Slow Boot Time

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. It takes over 3 minutes to boot to complete desktop which I think is very poor. A friend has one non-Toshiba which has a lower spec and this takes a minute. My Son's Toshiba (again lower spec) takes 1.5 minutes. I already exchanged this laptop but the replacement is just as bad - even from new without installing any extra software. I contacted helpdesk but they were not much help telling me to use MSCONFIG and Google which apps could be disabled - I tried a few but it made no difference. Most of the time is spent with a 'please wait' screen showing
In my opinion a core 2 processor (T5800) with 2GB RAM should not take this long. If I can't get any help from Toshiba or on here then I will be getting a refund on this machine - much as I otherwise like it - as 3 minutes to ready is completely unacceptable especially when lower spec machines are so much quicker.

    Hi,
I registered today to this forum only to answer this topic, because I think I have the right answer and I was so desperate because of the same problem.
As a gift to myself for New Year I bought Toshiba Satellite L300-1AM (4GB RAM, Dual-core T2300 processor at 2GHz, 250 GB HDD).
Imagine my frustration when I found, after installing Windows XP with programs I need, that:
    - boot-up time was 3min 20sec (I measured this time from the moment when I press power button till the hourglass mouse pointer goes back to arrow on desktop)
    - HDD performance was pretty bad (copying from disk to disk was 2-3 slower than on my old laptop, opening folder with many files in it took ages)
    - backup software PowerQuest Drive Image needed 7 hours to make a backup image of C partition.
I tried every advice that I found (msconfig tweaks, disabling services, uninstalling antivirus etc) but only managed to speed up boot up for 2-3 seconds.
In desperation I tried new BIOS update from Toshiba support site:
03/02/09 BIOS Update Toshiba OS independent 1.60-WIN World Wide
I was a little bit afraid to do this, since I never flashed a BIOS before, but was so furious with my new laptop misbehaving, that I took the chance.
I still can not figure out what BIOS upgrade has to do with boot-up speed and HDD performance, but it definitely did the miracle in my case!
Boot-up time is now 35 sec (unbelievable!!!) and HDD benchmark performance more than doubled. PowerQuest now needs only 20 min to make image of C partition.
My BIOS version before the BIOS upgrade was 1.40. Upgrade is really easy and painless, just starting .exe file directly from Windows XP.
Please let me know if this helps in your case.
    Best regards,
    Vladan

  • Satellite P300D-13N and XP Installation Issues (Sata-Driver)

    Hi,
I have some issues with my XP-Downgrade.
I already tried integrating the Intel Storage Manager drivers into my XP-CD but unfortunately it didn't work.
Probably because i've been integrating ALL drivers, that were available and not just the one that should work for my chipset.
Anyway, in one of the threads in this forum there is a link to [THIS How To|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm] and I think I found my problem...
[Here|http://s5.directupload.net/images/080904/2eptrpzs.jpg] is a screenshot of my device manager (sorry for it being in german) of the pre-installed Vista.
As you can see, there is no information about the controller-Version.
So my question is, WHAT chipset is built into my laptop, because due to the fact that the Intel drivers do not work AND there is no information about any Intel Drive-Controller, I have no idea, which drivers i have to integrate into the XP-CD to get my XP-Installation to work. :(
    Help :(
    Thank you
    Laptop: Satellite P300D-13N PSPDCE

Of course... I didn't want to bore you with the details... but I can do that ;)
I couldn't find any Chipset drivers on amd.com OR the toshiba website so I googled for the chipset and found [This Driver|http://eu.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=883&CategoryID=1&Deta ilName=Driver&MenuID=123&LanID=4] on the ECS-Elitegroup website.
I don't know why AMD doesn't upload this driver on their website, because I don't think I am the only one, who needed this SATA-Driver... ;)
Anyway, with the chipset-driver on my HDD, I created an XP-BootCD. I didn't know which driver (there are 3 or so in the package you can download on the ECS-Website), so I put *all* of them in the CD, which worked just fine. I think the *ahcix86.inf* in *\1_chipset_XP3264\XP3264\RAID7xx\x86\ i* is the important file for WinXP to load, but I'm not sure...
PS: The original catalyst drivers from ati.com do NOT work but the ones you can find [here|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU] work fine ;) Just telling you so you don't try 3 different versions from ati.com before you try the toshiba-drivers... like i did :D

  • Airport Utility and Firmware Q

Having just downloaded Airport Utility (5.3.2), I noticed the menu Base Station > Upload Firmware gives me the option of uploading firmware versions 5.5.1, 5.6, 5.7, or "other".
Does this really mean what it says? I am running firmware 5.5.1 due to the problems I've heard of with subsequent versions, and want the option of going back to it if necessary.
From what source would the firmware originate? Is it already contained in Airport Utility or does AU download it from a server somewhere?
Do 5.6 or 5.7 offer any advantages over 5.5.1 anyway?

    This is my concern:
From what source would the firmware originate? Is it already contained in Airport Utility or does AU download it from a server somewhere?
I want to know that if 5.7 gives me heartburn, I can go back down to 5.5.1...

  • OPTIARC-AD7560A-D803.exe firmware and CRC/installation issues for DvD RW drive

Does anyone happen to know if the "OPTIARC-AD7560A-D803.exe" file is still available? If so, where?
The file seems necessary to correct issues with my DVD RW drive, which experiences unfounded CRC errors when I try to install certain software from CD.
The download link for this file was very easy to find on Lenovo's support website, but unfortunately the link produces what seems to be a 404 error or notice of discontinuation provided in cantonese.
I know I need this file- if it is no longer supported by Lenovo, is there any place where I can download either that file or some equivalent new firmware to end the CRC errors?
    Thanks!

    Dear Toshiba users
I use Vista Service Pack 2 ,32-bit on Satelite L300-1DN. My laptop does not boot.
I get a blue screen with a message at the end STOP: 0x00008086
I tried F8 and Safe Mode and also F8 and Repair, but after starting downloading files is either getting stuck at "crcdisk.sys" or after getting the green flashing bar of Microsoft Co I get a black screen with a large white pointer and then again crashes and gives the same blue screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Found the other thread which you have created some time ago:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=251690
Seems that you had some problems with OS in the past
Did you try to recover the notebook using Toshiba disk?
Possibly it was hardware related issue
    Check the HDD and RAM.
HDD can be checked using free software called Drive Fitness Test.
The RAM modules could be removed separately and you could try to run the notebook using one module only in each slot
Maybe this helps otherwise new modules should be used
Of course it could be possible that RAM is ok and the issue is related to serious motherboard fault

  • Satellite L300-1AQ - Connection to TV using 3RCA Component cable

Just got the above cable from EBAY - it has the 15 pin 'D' connector which fits the computer external monitor socket and on the other end 2 'phono' type plugs (red, green and blue).
Problem is I can't get it to work. My medion 32" LCD has the coloured inputs and I have tried all the external input options but no luck. The cable supplier says the laptop should support "component video out" but nowhere can I find any reference to this in my laptop literature.
    Help please!
All that happens when I connect the laptop to TV is the laptop display changes resolution the the TV says "Not Support". Yes I tried all the F5 output options too.

Yes it has - 3 colour phono type sockets (red green and blue). This was used by my son's xbox. I tried the monitor input (15 pin 'D' connector) this works but whatever setting and resolution I try the picture is always stretched to fit the wide screen and it looks strange. I am unable to find any setting on the tv or laptop that fixes this

  • 2010 Mac Pro Crash and Firmware Update Issue

My 2010 Mac Pro crashes for no apparent reason. I have a couple FCP projects to finish and I cannot rely on this machine. I have the most recent problem report details and a pesky Firmware update that appears corrupted and refuses to install.
I've repaired permissions using Disk utility, applejack, and even used memtest to check that I didn't have a bad RAM module. All tasks ran successfully.
These may be 2 separate problems. I'm not sure at this point.
I'm using only 1/3 of the drive capacity for the OS drive and about on my Final Cut Media drive.
FCP is compatible. Been using it for nearly a year. Using a third drive for a Time Machine Back-up of all FCP media. The firmware update is specifically for the 2010 Mac Pro - Mac Pro EFI Update 1.5

    OK, thanks.
So I restored the original firmware, and I got through the update.
Here is what the update instructions should say:
"Once the flashing starts continue holding until the light is steady again."
I thnk my problem was that I released the button too soon.

  • Satellite A215-S4757 - Battery life and cooling fan issue

    Hello everybody,
I would like to ask a few questions abou my system: first of all, the cooling fan is running in my opinion too often: almost continuously, with brakes of 2-3 seconds. Is this normal?
I have my laptop since august last year and I think it shouldn't be a problem of dust, because it is too "young" for that and I don't live in a "dusty" appartment...
Anyway, I think the "almost allways running fan" problem appeared about 2 months after I purchased the notebook. I have installed "Speedfan" and I see "HD0" temperature is increasing from about 30deg immediately after I start the laptop, to about 39deg after 1 hour.
But the curious thing is that so named "Core" temperature is oscillating from the beginning between 45deg and over 52deg! The fan starts each time the core temperature is rising over 50deg and stops when the temperature reaches 45deg. Is this behaviour normal???
Is the core temperature of 45-50deg normal? I am just using my laptop for Internet browsing, e-mails, etc., no complex 3d games!
The second thing is that the battery life is (and was from the beginning) not spectacular: it lasts max. 1,5 hours with wireless on, but normal use of laptop (not playing dvd's or something like this). Is this normal? If yes, is it because of the amd turion 64x2 processors?
Please help me with some advices / opinions.
P.S. I've bought my Toshiba as I was on trip in USA (NY).
Thank you very much in advance.
    Conrad

    > I would like to ask a few questions about my system: first of all, the cooling fan is running in my opinion too often: almost continuously, with brakes of 2-3 seconds. Is this normal?
Im an owner of a Satellite A210. Its similar to the A215. The A210 is a European model and the A215 belongs to the US notebook series.
I have noticed the same on my A210 and I think its normal behavior.
    > But the curious thing is that so named "Core" temperature is oscillating from the beginning between 45deg and over 52deg! The fan starts each time the core temperature is rising over 50deg and stops when the temperature reaches 45deg. Is this behavior normal???
The CPU temperature of 40-60deg is nothing unusual.
The temperature could arise up to 70-80degrees while playing a game. So dont worry about the temperature.
The cooling modules are controlled by BIOS. The fan table is stored in the BIOS and it contains informations about temperature limits and the cooling usage.
If a certain temperature level was reached the cooling module starts to rotate with a certain speed.
Now I would like to say something about the notebooks battery life time
Generally the battery life time depends on the notebooks usage.
While playing games or watching movies the battery would discharge much faster.
Anyway, your notebook was equipped with high-performance devices and as far as I know the Vista was preinstalled on this series. Both factors (high performance devices CPU and GPU) + Vista OS need a lot of battery power. Vista needs more notebook resources as the Win XP and therefore notebooks with Vista OS run shorter on battery as the notebooks with preinstalled Win XP.
Last but not least you have to know that there are different battery models A stronger battery with higher *mA* value would help to run the notebook longer using the battery power.
Hope I could clarify this question.
    Bye

  • Itunes and Quicktime Installation issues

I am getting seriously frustrated! I am tring to install the Itunes 8 version and I already had Quicktime on my computer. It keeps giving me the same error: "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not run. I did the removal and reinstallation separately of Quicktime, but when I go to reinstall Quicktime it gives me the same error message now. Anybody have any ideas?

Are you referring to this step in the installation procedure (Creating the WebLogic Domain for Endeca Server)?
