Satellite L300-1AY recovery not working

Hello,
I have a question about the recovery for a Tosihba Satellite L300-1AY with Windows Vista pre-installed.
I wanted to recover my laptop and when I pressed F8 during start-up I could choose the restore my computer.
But after that part I got a message-box (System Recovery Options) telling me that the installed programs could not start and the only option I had was press OK so the computer would turn off.
I was wondering if there was any way this could be fixed or if there's another way to recover my computer.
Thanks,
Pascal

Hi
You could recover the notebook using the Recovery DVD which you have hopefully created before this issue happened
Did you create such recovery DVD?
If not then only the HDD recovery option can be used.
For this you have to press F8 after notebook has been powered up.
Then choose Repair my Computer.
Then a new window will appear and then you could choose Toshiba Recovery.
If this procedure will not start up and if you will be not able to use the HDD recovery then you need a Toshiba recovery DVD.
If you didnt create the recovery DVD then you could order it from here:

  • Satellite L300-215 - Webcam not working

The webcam on my Satellite L300-215 has not worked since I downloaded the new Toshiba software months ago.
The Chicony webcam is not even recognised and it will not install the Toshiba software.
Two hours with Toshiba technical staff, including them having remote access to my computer, did not solve the problem.
It seems this is a very common problem and I have tried some of the suggestions on postings but with no result.
Does anybody out there have the answer?

I have two Toshiba notebooks, Satellite P200D and Satellite A300, both with webcam and everything works well. So I don't agree with statement about very common problem.
Does webcam works well if your notebook is preinstalled with Toshiba recovery image (factory settings)?
    >I have tried some of the suggestions on postings but with no result.
What you have tried to solve this?

  • Re: Satellite L300 - camera is not working after upgrading to Win7

As in subject. Camera wont work after upgrading to Windows 7. I have tried almost everything found on Internet. The drivers are installed.
There is no exclamation mark in system.
    Satellite L300 (PSLB8E)

    Hi
What happen when you start the webcam application?
All Programs -> Toshiba -> webcam
Did you install some other 3rd party software like for example Skype which would access the webcam?
Additional tip: go to BIOS and set it to default, save the changes and then reboot the notebook.
Start for example Skype, check the Skype settings if webcam has been chosen properly.
Would be really interesting to know if other software would be able to use the webcam.
By the way: did you install the Toshiba Face Recognition? This software use and access the webcam as well
So sometimes it could be possible that this software would block the webcam and the webcam tool could not work

    Hi!
I think this is not a problem. Windows 7 is only a beta OS and at the moment the driver support is not so good.
Maybe you will find some drivers on the manufactures website from the WLAN card. In your case it should be Realtek.

  • DVD-ROM on Satellite L300-144 (PSLB0E) not working

    Hi all
I have a problem with my DVD drive not working.
When I bought the notebook 2 months ago it was working fine, After about 2 weeks the DVD drive started reading some DVD's and not reading others. I decided that I was going to down grade from Vista to XP to support programming languages and DB management tools not working on Vista. After formatting and loading XP the DVD drive did exactly the same. Now 2 months down the line it's not reading or writing any DVD's and not writing CD's although it is still reading DVD's.
I've followed steps on the forum for removing the drive from Device Manager and then removing Upper and Lower Filters, although I couldn't find any Upper or Lower Filters in the folder specified by forum users. I restarted the machine and the driver was reloaded without any luck. When opening the DVD drive in My Computer it is a blank screen as it would be for a writable compilation although the DVD has information on, even original DVD movies does exactly the same.
I've also tried recovering the Vista installation from the recovery DVD and it is not reading the DVD.
I've looked in the user manual where it says that the machine should have one of the following drives Panasonic UJ-870B/UJ-870F, Hitachi GSA-T40N/GSA-T40F, Pioneer DVR-KD08TBM/DVR-KD08TBF, Samsung TS-L632H/TS-L632P or Toshiba SD-L802B. However if I go to My Computer / Device manager / Nero Info tool it all displays the DVD drive as SD-L622A drive. The driver info is as follows Microsoft 5.1.2535.0 (2001/07/01) with firmware version T070.
With the Toshiba assits software the drive also fails.
Is there any driver update that will help or firmware updates or any other solutions available to me?
    Thanks

    hi,
    you wrote
+I've also tried recovering the Vista installation from the recovery DVD and it is not reading the DVD.+
this tells me that your DVD drive is broken. Hardware defect.
go to a Toshiba ASP. I think your notebook is still under warranty.

  • Satellite L300-11V - Internet not working after software removal

    Hi
My brother's internet isn't working anymore. We think it is because he was removing a bunch of software/programs to make space.
    It says the problem is
... "There are driver or hardware problems with the network adapter "Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)" on this computer."
Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem, or what to download?
The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L300D-11V
    Thanks

    Hi buddy
This error message sounds like that you have to reinstall the driver for LAN card. You can get this driver on the Toshiba page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
If you have installed the newest version the internet connection should work again! :)

  • [S210 Touch] One key recovery not working

I have a 1.25 year old S210 Ideapad Touch.  I made a 100GB partition with EaseUS and had no problem with onekey recovery.  I tried to merge that empty partition with my C drive using EaseUS software but it did not work saying there were errors.  After that attempt One Key did not work.  Tried to open One Key with compter turned off, error message said damaged partition. Next I used Control panel Administrative Tools: Disk Management to return C drive to almost its original size less 350 mb. one key still did not work.  I reinstalled one key from Lenovo website and still did not work. Still indicated damage partition.  What can I do now?

  • USB Ports on 3 month old Satellite C655-S5049 do not work-even after Recovery to "Out-of-Box" state

Hello - Hoping someone can help with another suggestion- it doesn't look good.
Both USB ports on my wife's 3 month old Satellite C655-S5049 are non-functional with any USB device. Flash drives, wireless mouse, and external hard drive (powered) that all work on all of my other computers, do not work in either of this laptop's USB ports.
This problem seems to have developed gradually, and became noticeable previously as non-responsiveness in the wireless mouse, which gradually became a concern, with the computer appearing to freeze or lock-up - probably because of the number of times the mouse was clicked on shortcuts and executables before something happened.
The ports are now completely "dead"- no recognition of anything inserted once the computer is up and running.
There appears to be a thermal component involved, since I was able to get the devices recognized and working for up to a minute when booting the computer with the devices in the ports after it had been off for several hours after I did the default state recovery. The flash drive and mouse were recognized, drivers loaded message, but they then went to "unplugged" before I could get the cursor moving. I was able to access the flash drive, since I did it as soon as the driver loaded, but then it disappeared ("un-plugged" itself in the driver loaded message box). I can also get them recognized from this COLD boot state when I immediately plug them in once Windows 7 (64) loads, but they quickly disappear. If I wait a few minutes before re-booting, they flash during the Windows boot, but drop-out before it completes. If I wait 3-4 hours to re-boot, they flash (are recognized) for about a minute (Windows completely loads), but then they drop out.
I tried all of the suggestions on this board (and others) before doing a Recovery to Factory Default state. I have tried it with the original version 1.20 Bios, and with the version 1.50 Bios update. All driver updates have been downloaded and installed. The laptop does occasionally lock-up at the Toshiba screen during boot, and is verrrry slow in some operations (2 hours to do the recovery discs). The only other noticeable problem (at this time) is an occasional drop-out of wireless (Atheros AR9285) connectivity, which I have been blaming on the router since it is sporadic and infrequent (not consistent with the thermal argument). These problems are all after the Factory Default State recovery operation, so my assumption is that they are hardware based.
Any suggestions for a solution? This is a standard spec Satellite C655-S5049 that I was considering adding another 2GB memory to, but now I am unsure of its' future. A laptop cooler that runs from a USB port seems counter-productive.
I am technically capable, so you can be much briefer in your response than I have been in trying to fully detail the problems. This isn't the NVidia chip, but it does bring back memories of laptops past.
    Thanks for any help,
    G

  • Satellite L650-12Q - Toshiba HDD Recovery not working

    Toshiba Satellite L650-12Q
    Windows 7 64bit
I am attempting to re-install Windows using the Toshiba HDD Recovery software on my hard disc in order to restore the computer to factory settings.
I followed the procedure to do this in System Recovery Options, but received the following message:
"The recovery of the operating system is impossible!
Could not find HDD Recovery folder on second drive of the first hard disk. There is no valid HDD Recovery environment on this computer."
    Further details:
Prior to doing the above, I backed up the system and files and folders using AOMEI Backupper. I then made the mistake of merging partitions C: D: and E:, E: contained the HDDR files.
After trying the above recovery and receiving the message above, I re-installed the system file I had backed up to an external hard disc, which resulted in a copy of C: drive and E: drive containing the HDDR files.
Unfortunately, when I tried to recover the OS, the same message appeared.
I then tried to use a System Restore disc I had created a few weeks ago, but found that for some reason that CD is blank.
The good news is that the computer still works - slowly - and the HDDR files appear to be still there but, for some reason, inaccessible.
What are my options? I want to go back to initial factory settings so that I can start afresh and re-install the programmes and files that I want. (I have backed up all my files and have installation discs for programmes.)
If the worst comes to the worst and I have to buy a Windows 7 disc (if that is still possible - I don't want Windows 8), would it be possible to install that on to this computer and would it give me a clean install without any of the rubbish that is presently cluttering up my computer?
Thank you for reading, and I should be grateful for any advice you can offer.

    Thanks for your help.
I have since found some recovery discs (3x DVD-R) that I created on 18 July 2010, when I first bought the laptop. For some reason, however, these do not work.
    I followed the published procedure:
    1. Load first recovery disc.
    2. Turn off computer's power.
    3. Whilst holding down F12, turn on computer.
    4. When "Toshiba leading innovations" appears, release F12.
    5. Use 'up' and 'down' cursor keys to select CD-ROM icon from menu.
    6. Follow menu.
After item 4, "Boot menu" appears, giving options HDD, eSATA, CD, etc. I selected "CD", but nothing further happens.
It looks to me like things are worse than I thought, but on the positive side the computer still works.
Is there anything more that I can do?

  • Satellite L300-1G9 does not boot in safety nor normal mode

    Hello,
My computer will not load up from safety mode nor normal mode.
Although Macafee, my virus protection software provider believe their recent problems are to blame they have offered no solution and instead have asked me to load windows with my 'installation disk'.
I cannot find this, where do I get it from? (p.s. my computer is the Satellite L300 - 1G9 series.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi
If you are not able to boot up the Windows then try firstly the HDD recovery option:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
If this will not work then you need the recovery disk which you could order here:

  • Satellite L870-165 does not work after being repaired by their service

Laptop Toshiba warranty does not work after being repaired by their service twice.
    Model: Satellite L870-165
Computer will not boot, stays with black screen stating: No bootable device-Please restart your system
After reboot still happening the same.
I called Toshiba phone incident and after trying several options I said take him to repair the service.
They first told me it was the hard drive, then phoned me to indicate that reinstalling and finally it was the motherboard, which supposedly changed. The day after being picked computer repair returned to give exactly the same error, only malfunctioned one evening.
After another call to 902 the Toshiba warranty service, I went back to take the service, this time I changed the hard drive. When I got home the computer did not start even once, again gives the same error.
I believe that this team comes with a factory default so that its solution is not easy because even the technical service told me that I did not know what else to do with it.

    >Computer will not boot, stays with black screen stating: No bootable device-Please restart your system
This message pops up because the notebook cannot find the Windows system.
There could be either an problem with the HDD or maybe the HDD is OK but the Windows system isnt preinstalled properly.
You said that the service agent changed the HDD. But did someone install the Windows system?
You can try to do it yourself take your recovery disk (hopefully you created such disk in the past) and boot from the recovery disk in order to install the system.
In case booting from the Disk would not be possible, go to BIOS (F2) and disable the secure boot and change from UEFI to CSM mode

  • Satellite L300 - Windows does not recognize connected device

I have Toshiba L300 Satellite series, PSLB8E. it came with a pre-installed window vista basic version and it was working very good until I decided to upgrade it.
I took it to a computer shop for an upgrade to window ultimate.
This version worked very well for a few weeks so until I got a message on the screen that said: " I must get a genuine copy of windows".
Since from that time I started having problems with my usb ports, my computer could not detect any thing I connect to it (usb, printer, mouse etc) it only worked with modem, sometimes it would open my external hard drive but it did not install its drivers.
I then decided to buy a window 7 home basic but instead of this problem going away it got worse as my usb ports stopped completely from working.
I have tried every trick I can think of but nothing worked. the problem I have is that I do not have the original disc of window vista
    Anyone please help!!

I agree: installation of Windows 7 drivers is very important to get all the devices working properly. Windows 7 is much better as Vista OS and I dont see any reasons why your Sat L300 should not work properly with this Win 7 OS.
I recommend you to install the Windows 7 system again by doing completely clean install.
After that, download all the Toshiba Win 7 drivers from the Toshiba EU driver page.
Very important are the drivers like Value Added Package, Chip Set Utility, Card Reader Controller, Display Driver, LAN driver, WLan, Sound Driver, Storage Manager and touchpad driver

  • Satellite L300-13S - Recovery USB instead of Recovery DVD Disks?

    Hi,
Well, for the first time in 8 years I had to do a system recovery using the disks i created when i first bought my l300-13s using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.
I had inadvertantly deleted the HDD Recovery partition when i set out to do a clone using a bigger HDD.
What I want to find out is instead of making recovery disks to DVD can i make a recovery USB flash drive?
    Thanks
    Peter.

    Hi
As far as I can remember the old Satellite L300 did not provide the option to create the recovery USB flash memory stick. As far as I know you can create the Recovery CD or DVD for L300.
However, if USB flash memory would be supported, this option will be visible within the recovery media creator tool.
But you said you have deleted the HDD recovery partition. Well, in this case you will not be able to use this software. :(

  • Sound drivers for Satellite L300-17l don't work

I have installed XP Sp2 on my Satellite L300-17l. I downloaded the drivers I need from Toshiba official site. The display and WLan and Lan drivers were ok but the sound driver does not work. After installing the sound driver windows says "Your new hardware was installed but may not work properly".
I have tried 2 versions of the driver that are in the official site but neither one worked. I started to worry if the sound hardware on my new notebook is ok at all?
Any solutions ? I can't get the problem for couple of days now..need help dudesa

Before you would install the sound driver you should firstly install the
    AUDIO Patch *KB835221* and *KB888111*.
These are Microsoft hotfixes. Search in the net for the download
After installation reboot the OS and then try to reinstall the sound driver again.

  • Command R Recovery Not Working

Dear All, I'm a little stuck.  There's something wrong with my OSX (Mavericks 10.9.5) that is stopping me from booting in the regular way ( I get stuck @ the grey screen), Booting and using Command R does nothing (tried many times for long periods), thankfully booting and holding just Option manages to get me in (via selecting my hard drive etc) and thus i've now been able to back everything up... good... So now i run Disc Utility / Verify and am told i have disc problems and i need to reboot / command R to get to the recovery centre... hmmmm nope as the command r step is the bit thats not working.... What please do i do ??  I read about internet recovery but that seems to be triggered from within command r... I really don't want to simply reformat my hard drive and "see what happens" when i then reboot as hoping i get redirected to internet recovery seems like a crazy option.... Any guidance please ???... Basically how do i get to the recovery area without rebooting using Command R ?

Genius !... Thank you Barney... Booted via the web, tried to repair, couldn't but let me erase my hard disc and reinstall a fresh version of OSX.... 8 minutes to go on the download then it will need a thorough update but looking good right now !... a painful day but many thanks !
