As far as I know on second HDD partition in folder HDDRecovery is saved recovery image. When you start HDD recovery installation (F8 at start-up) recovery image from partition D will be installed on partition C. In this case partition D will not be deleted. Just partition C will be formatted before recovery image installation starts.
Just use F8 option and go to repair my computer. Just follow menu on the screen and choose option Recovery of factory default software.

After reading this question I see you didnt read users manuals document. You should create recovery media (recovery DVD) and this recovery DVD you can use for recovery image installation if there is some problem with HDD or you want to install original recovery image on new HDD.

Of course you can do this. Visit please Toshiba download page on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and check if all drivers, tools and utilities are available there. Of course before you do this, create recovery DVD.

What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it

I'm in an awkward situation as i think most people are when dealing with this kind of problem. I searched the forum for something like this but with no success.
So my question in detail is: I came from a PC world, with windows vista and now i'm a new Mac fan. Bought a new iPhone and loved the device so much that i had to try some Mac notebooks and iMacs to see what's what. And guess what after 1 month i ended up with a new iMac...and so far i love it even though i still have alot to learn in OS X. Since i had my iPhone 3G synced with my old PC with ITunes i can't sync now with my new iMac without loosing everything on it, including photos, applications, music and other stuff.
So how can i sync it without loosing that data????
I googled on the net for an answer and i found some answers to a method that would allow to further sync my iPhone and still keep the actual data in it. In other words make iTunes ignore the existing data in it, but i found it rather too much of a hassle, having to modify strings of data in some files in the Library.
Also i found another method but that might work only from a windows machine to another windows machine, with itunes library exporter.
So knowing my situation what would you do?
PS: IMHO syncing to erasing all data is NOT an option. let's say that i would venture in creating new photo albums to sync them, and put the music back but what about the apps? I bought so many of them and some with vital information/settings that i could simply not bare having them deleted.
HELP PLS!App settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app are not stored with the application in your iTunes library. 3rd party app settings and data are stored with the app on your iPhone and included with your iPhone's backup - which is created and maintained by iTunes during the sync process.
Once again - you need to transfer your iTunes folder and library from your PC to your Mac. In case you missed it - your need to transfer your iTunes folder and library from your PC to your Mac. All apps downloaded via iTunes or via your iPhone should be in your iTunes library. App settings and data created and stored by an app are stored with the app on your iPhone and included with your iPhone's backup.
When syncing with another computer - even with the same iTunes library and iTunes account, your iPhone will be erased of all iTunes content but iTunes should create a backup of your iPhone first - which includes settings and data created by a 3rd party app. You can always manually create a backup for your iPhone with iTunes on your Mac before syncing.

How to recover bitlocker encrypted user data partition
Background: My laptop was installed with Windows 8 and the disk is encrypted with Bitlocker. At installation I split the disk in two partitions, one for the OS and one for the user data. The laptop is broken beyond repair but I still have the disk.
I am using a USB cradle to recover data from the disk to another computer (running Windows 7). When I turn on the cradle it shows me my two partitions and prompts for the Bitlocker password for the OS partition. This works fine. But for the user data partition
it prompts me for a recovery key, which I don't have.
When I installed the system and enabled I only set one password. At the time I believed that it encrypted the whole disk as one unit and didn't pay more attention to this. As I learn more it seems like the partitions are encrypted individually. The manage-bde
tool shows that the OS disk is encrypted with a password while the user data partition is encrypted with an external key and shows a filename with a BEK extension. I have never created such an external key file.
Is this external key managed by Windows itself (to save me from entering two passwords at boot time)?
Is there a way to find this external key for my user data partition?

/ SvenTanks for respondent. That guide refers mostly to recovering the keys from AD. My laptop was not domain joined as it was for home use. And I have the password for the OS disk and needed help with the second.
Anyway, I solved this by inserting the disk in another laptop. It booted up nicely, prompted for the one password and gave me access to both partitions. So my problem is solved now. -

A recovery installation from the recovery disk without loosing data on the HDD isnt possible. If you use the Toshiba recovery disk the whole HDD will be formatted so you must backup the data first.
The only way I know is to use the HDD recovery function in the advanced boot menu. The HDD recovery function formats only the first partition of the notebook and all data that you have stored on the second partition are available after recovery.

Not sure about using Seagate GoFlex as I seem to recall a number of threads reporting problems.
Windows can do a convert -fs to NTFS just never tried the reverse from NTFS to FAT32 but I would not use FAT. I'd either erase and reload and use as Mac HFS Extended; or if you actually do need to use it with a PC user running Windows, the driver would be handy and better.
Or your PC w/ Windows there are HFS drivers for Windows to mount and WRITE to a Mac formatted drive under Windows. There MacDrive has more and better support feature set. -

You simply sync the iPad to the new computer. It will tell you that it is already synced with another one though, and will give you the option to erase it or transfer its contents to the new one. An iPad can only be synced with one computer at a time.
Beware that only your iTunes and App Store purchases will sync. If your iTunes library contained music obtained from other sources, you have to find a way to transfer them directly from your sick computer to the new one.
I hope your new computer is a Mac, a replacement PC will eventually suffer the same fate. -

1. This person wants to "Test" his backup and recovery in NOARCHIVELOG mode.
2. He/She did not say his database had already crashed or had a problem.
3. He/She did not give any indication the kind of scenario he wants to recover from.
4. He/She did not mention the state of his database at the time of he posting.
5. He/She did not mention the Release of his Oracle Server or Platform.
6. He/She did not mention the type of backup he already has in place (although provided later as Full COLD Backup). How "genuine" is the back?
7. What actions has already been taken to attempt recovery.
In my support experience, I normally would go through a list of questions witht he use/client to get the full picture of the current status of the database before I give answers that would worsen situations, especially in a Disaster Recovery sitaution.
Personaly, I would suggest you have a look at the list above. One of the most important is number 3 (The Recovery Scenario), then number 4, number 6 and 7. Number 7 will determine the situation of your database. So, when you ask for SQL commands to use, there are different commands for different kind of recovery depending on what has gone wrong or what kind of file is damaged (Datafiles, Logfiles, Control Files, one tablespace, one table, entire database gone, etc). -

Yes, you can do that, but it is inadvisable to do so without a safety backup. But that's your choice, which means there is no guarantee you won't have a problem.
First thing you should do:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.

If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.

You don't have to change NTFS to FAT.
Just install Paragon NTFS and you'll be able to transfer your data to your external HDD even if it is NTFS. -

The only way to unlock it is to follow the steps in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 or one of the similar knowledge base articles, which includes restoring the device. If you have a current backup you can do that and remove the passcode.

How to recover Vista on Satellite L500
Hello guys,
I bought a Satellite L500 with Windows Vista...unfortunately I am not a Vista-lover, so I installed the good old WXP.
However, I forgot to burn a copy of the vista-version.
Then I realized that there are no xp-drivers available for the Satellite. So I installed the vista-drivers. Almost everything worked, except the graphics drivers.
My notebook, of course, now uses the default graphics drivers from windows, but now everything is distorted.
Now my question: Is there a way to recover Vista? Of course, I own a product key that I have acquired with the purchase of the notebook.
I have also a Vista CD from my other computer, but it does not accept the product key from the notebook.

I have a original Microsoft Windows Vista DVD, but if I install Vista with this DVD, I must activate it after approx. 2-3 weeks of Vista online. If I give the key which stands on my notebook comes an announcement that my key is invalid. I think this is due to the fact that the notebooks have a kind of protection and therefore only the Vista version functions which was from the outset on the notebook.
I think it really sadly that there are no drivers for WXP.
Nevertheless, the choice of the operating system should be with the customer: (

I do not believe that I still own this partition. As this activation came I had to develop the hard disk and delete completely. Otherwise I could not even have installed any more WXP.

I need to recover my system but have quite a lot of data in my D: HDD I would very much like to keep.
In this forum, Gipsyman said that I should be able to use the dvd recovery disc selecting the advanced recovery mode, however there are a lot of options and I have no clue. My HDD are independent i.e. not using the RAID mirroring.
Can you tell me how to recover system formating only HDD C: and leaving data in HDD D:?

PedroI would suggest you back up your D drive just in case, whatever you do.
I don't know whether it's because of the raid setup or just my carelessness, but when recovering my G20 in expert mode it wiped both my drives. Luckily I was sensible enough to have copied all the data to an external drive.
I find the default raid option a pain to be honest and would rather it weren't there as personally I'd like to made a ghost image of my system (C) drive but I can't seem to do it as the recovered drive always fails to fully boot. I'm told it might be due to the raid drivers, but don't understand why and symantec have no clue either. -

Before you start with Windows 7 installation, download all drivers from official Toshiba website and check if all drivers available. I dont know what notebook you have exactly and if you install Windows 7 32bit or 64bit but you can check this yourself:

If you have found all drivers you can start with Windows 7 installation. After this install all drivers. Usually the installation order is not so important but a friend of installed Winodws 7 on L300 (little bit other model) and used this installation order:
-Windows 7

-Display driver
-Sound driver
-LAN driver
-WLAN driver
-Modem driver
-Value Added Package
-Flash Cards Support Utility
Depending on your model the order and amount of drivers is a little bit different. ;)
