Satellite L300D - recovery error BSOD+imagex.exe application error

Hi,
My Laptop lost function a while ago due to some unknown errors. I managed to get most of the data out through safemode and have transfered them to my desktop.
The problem I am having now is repairing my laptop. I have since lost my receipt and therefore unable to claim warranty; but I figured I could restore my computer to its factory state with the recovery disk I created. The original problem and the one I am facing can be seen here...-> http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=153146#153146 <-
As you can see from that thread, the recovery disk didn't work. So based on the advice I received I went to a Toshiba authorised computer repairs centre today and they replaced my Hard Disk Drive with a Fujitsu SATA 120GB. I then attempted to use the recovery disk but ran into a few hiccups. 1) A BSOD comes up randomly during the restoration i.e. During image copying it would pop up... sometimes it would pop up when it is finalising the recovery. 2) Sometimes, the BSOD will be bipassed and instead, an error would come up at 3% of installation finalising saying that img could not be copied from HDD to C/:! 3)Sometimes an image.exe application error would come up saying 'The instruction at 0x77c45a20 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the programme.'
NOTE: None of the these problems occur in the same recovery trial. But they DO come up randomly and when they do, I have to restart the computer and try again.
My question is this. Since the last piece of advice was to replace my faulty HDD, and I have done so, why am I still unable to repair my computer? And if it is not the matter of HDD, then what is the problem here? I am desperate in fixing my laptop as it is meant to be my 14 year old desktop replacement. Thank you all for your kind attention; I only hope that there is someone out there who has faced and overcome such a problem before.

Hi!
Its not easy to say what the reason is for this. It could be a faulty RAM, mainboard or maybe the HDD again. So it could be bad luck that the new HDD is also faulty
I think you should test something on your notebook with special diagnostic tools.
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test you can test your HDD. Download the CD image, burn it on a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HDD.
On the same website is a user guide if you want to know more.
http://memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. There you can also download a CD image.
Its easy to use. Run the test 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.
After this post your result. Maybe one the tests can find an error.
If not you should try it with a Microsoft installation disk. Maybe the recovery disk is scratchy or so
In you cant find something you should go to the ASP again. Speak with the technicians and explain the situation. I think they will try to help you as fast as possible.
Bye

    Hi SUBRAMANIAN,
    Are you still facing this issue? It seems to be conflict to me.
    Are you using any third party plugins with Acrobat? Try disabling and to use it again.

    Try disabling Protected Mode.  But since you cannot even open Adobe Reader by itself, you can do it via the Windows registry: download, unzip, then run the registry script from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/441a5fb2-7a82-443d-9632-9a639692a565

    Judging from similar experiences reported on the web, you must be trying to open a command prompt when the message occurs. Is that correct?
    If not, what are you doing? Booting Windows? Trying to run an application?

    Win XP Home SP2
    Installed Firefox, but receive the following error message:

    Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but same message. Firefox won't even open.

    Usually someone has been down the track before and occasionally they post some useful details which may help others to investigate and/or eliminate factors in their particular case.
    This AccessibleMarshal.dll error seems to have a long history --- posts from 2006 with early Firefox versions had issues similar to yours.
    There is a link and an excerpt below which could be worth checking in your case,
    particularly since it mentions the problem would occur on a clean install (no previous instance of Firefox on the system and Windows before Vista --??)
    Have a look here:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=712960
    and the post to read:
    '''Mark Banner (:standard8) 2011-12-22 12:55:21 PST'''
    "Created attachment 583905 [details] [diff] [review]
    Add the Win32 redistributable directory to the mozconfigs"
    "Somehow we missed shipping the Win32 Redistributables from Visual C++. We didn't detect this as it would only show on Windows versions less than Vista, and you'd probably only see it if you had a completely clean install, and you didn't have the dlls installed elsewhere (as it appears my XP system does)."
    "If you're seeing this then you want to copy the following files from a Firefox installation:
    Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest
    msvcm80.dll
    msvcp80.dll
    msvcr80.dll
    The patch I'm attaching updates our configuration files to specify the Win32 redistribution directory, which will then cause the build system to include the files in the build."
    .... ends....
    The earlier 2006 instances also had the same issue in some cases:

    Hope this progresses the search and resolution.

    hello,
    you state that you are on 6.0.8.8.3 .. that is a very old version of reports (more than 3 years i would say) . there have been a significant amount of patchsets released since then. i would strongly suggest you contact oracle support services to get the latest patch-set.
    thanks,

  • Rundll32.exe-Application Error

    We are running a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and during the startup there is an error showing rundll32.exe-Application Error.
    "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application" but when you click OK; it does not terminate the application and this error is permanently visible on the screen.
    Please advise.

    The rundll32.exe Application error is not a direct error. There could be several different reasons such as Corrupt rundll32.exe file, Corrupt DLL file for some application, Corrupt Registry values and even Virus infection.
    Here are few things which you can try...
    If it is corrupt rundll32.exe then run  sfc /scannow from command prompt and insert OS CD if needed to replace the original file.
    If it is corrupt DLL file from application, then re-install the application; most of the times it works.
    In case of corrupt registry entries, try running some registry cleaners such as Ccleaner etc...
    In case of virus or malware infection, update OS patches and AV definitions; run complete system scan.

  • JFileChooser causes "java.exe - Application Error"

    Hi,
    When I'm closing an JFileChooser dialog (by e.g. pressing ok or cancel) a second or so later my JVM terminates with the error message "java.exe - Application Error. The instruction at "0*6d0ea46e" referenced a memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to treminate the program".
    I turned on verbose output from the JVM and the last printout was:
    [Loaded javax.swing.Autoscroller from C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\rt.jar]
    [Dynamic-linking native method sun.awt.windows.WComponentPeer.removeNativeDropTarget ... JNI]
    result 1
    [Dynamic-linking native method sun.awt.windows.WFramePeer.getState ... JNI]
    [Loaded java.awt.EventDispatchThread$StopDispatchEvent from C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\lib\rt.jar]
    [Dynamic-linking native method sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.shutdown ... JNI]
    No exception is shown.
    I have uninstall all old JVMs and reinstalled JDK 5.0. This does not help.
    This simple program causes the termination of the JVM:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("0");
    JFileChooser fileChooser = new JFileChooser();
    System.out.println("1");
    int result = -2;
    try {
    result = fileChooser.showOpenDialog(null);
    } catch (HeadlessException e1) {
    e1.printStackTrace();
    System.out.println("result " + result);
    try {
    Thread.sleep(5000);
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    // TODO Auto-generated catch block
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.out.println("2");
    I receive the printout "result" but not "2".
    I appriciate any help!
    BR
    /Marcus

    No, this is very bad. Any time you see a message like this mentioning a memory address, it means that java, not you, has crashed. There's no way for you to fix this. The only thing you can try is to work around it.
    My suggestions:
    1. Report it to Sun. Make sure you include your system info (processor, memory, computer manufacturer) and what version of java you're using
    2. Try downloading and installing a different version of java

  • Rman.exe Application Error

    I tried to start RMAN from windows server. Then I got this error message. A small form pumped out with message as:
    The instruction at 0x003325f6"referenced memory at "0x0000009", The memory could not be "read".
    Click on OK to terminate the program
    Click on CANCEL to debug the program.
    Is this server operating system error or rman.exe Application Error? How to solve it? Thanks.

    Aman:
    Thanks. If rman.exe should be read by memory, but couldn't be read. This must be operating system error, not oracle database error. Because operating system got memory to read software. Software itself doesn't have memory. it is working with system memory. Why do I need to re-install Oracle to fix the problem? Is there any way to fix problem from DB server?
