Satellite L300D - Recovery image needed

Hello
I am trying to restore my laptop to factory settings. It is a Toshiba Satellite L300D and it has recently become infected with the windows vista security 2011 virus.
It still works in safe mode, and safe mode with networking but I dont want to risk it any more. I tried years ago to make a recovery DVD but it never worked.
Now I tried to recover from the Hard drive but it said it cannot locate HDD 1 and recommended trying to remove numbers from the partition which is something I dont really understand.
Either way I cannot recover to factory settings.
Is there anything I can do to get my hands on a recovery image or sort this out. Any help welcome. Thank you

Recovery image is designed for specific notebook model.
Recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers for certain hardware platform and all other additional stuff like tools and utilities.
You can try to install this recovery image from your brother but I cannot say for sure it will work 100%. It can happen that OS loads and after few seconds blue screen will be shown.
Look, if you like your notebook and you want to use it sometime, pay this 30 euro for original recovery disc and problem is solved.
Other way I must say that this old L300D runs well with Windows 7 so maybe it would be good solution for you to install Win7 and have much better OS than old Vista. This is, of course, more expensive option.
At the end it is only your decision what to do.

  • Satellite L300D - recovery error BSOD+imagex.exe application error

    Hi,
My Laptop lost function a while ago due to some unknown errors. I managed to get most of the data out through safemode and have transfered them to my desktop.
The problem I am having now is repairing my laptop. I have since lost my receipt and therefore unable to claim warranty; but I figured I could restore my computer to its factory state with the recovery disk I created. The original problem and the one I am facing can be seen here...-> http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=153146#153146 <-
As you can see from that thread, the recovery disk didn't work. So based on the advice I received I went to a Toshiba authorised computer repairs centre today and they replaced my Hard Disk Drive with a Fujitsu SATA 120GB. I then attempted to use the recovery disk but ran into a few hiccups. 1) A BSOD comes up randomly during the restoration i.e. During image copying it would pop up... sometimes it would pop up when it is finalising the recovery. 2) Sometimes, the BSOD will be bipassed and instead, an error would come up at 3% of installation finalising saying that img could not be copied from HDD to C/:! 3)Sometimes an image.exe application error would come up saying 'The instruction at 0x77c45a20 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the programme.'
NOTE: None of the these problems occur in the same recovery trial. But they DO come up randomly and when they do, I have to restart the computer and try again.
My question is this. Since the last piece of advice was to replace my faulty HDD, and I have done so, why am I still unable to repair my computer? And if it is not the matter of HDD, then what is the problem here? I am desperate in fixing my laptop as it is meant to be my 14 year old desktop replacement. Thank you all for your kind attention; I only hope that there is someone out there who has faced and overcome such a problem before.

    Hi!
Its not easy to say what the reason is for this. It could be a faulty RAM, mainboard or maybe the HDD again. So it could be bad luck that the new HDD is also faulty
I think you should test something on your notebook with special diagnostic tools.
    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test you can test your HDD. Download the CD image, burn it on a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HDD.
On the same website is a user guide if you want to know more.
    http://memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. There you can also download a CD image.
Its easy to use. Run the test 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.
After this post your result. Maybe one the tests can find an error.
If not you should try it with a Microsoft installation disk. Maybe the recovery disk is scratchy or so
In you cant find something you should go to the ASP again. Speak with the technicians and explain the situation. I think they will try to help you as fast as possible.
    Bye

  • Re: Where can I find recovery image for my Satellite L300D?

    Hi all,
my wife has a L300D laptop which was wiped when she used the wrong back up disc in it,,,, need some help and advice as to whether I can find a recovery system on line or do I need to take it into a shop to get it working again
    Thanks in advance
    Neil

Unfortunately Tom is right. What you need now is original Toshiba recovery DVD and you can use it for recovery image installation. After this installation you will have factory settings again.
This disc can be ordered. Just follow the link posted by Tom.
If you have more questions you are welcome.

  • Re: Is Satellite L300D provided with recovery disk?

    Hi,
I do not get a recovery disk when I bought my Satellite L300D.
Does anyone know If Satellite L300D is provided with recovery disk?
As far as i know computers manufactured from mid 2007 are no longer provided with recovery disks for the operating system. How do I know what year my satellite is manufactured?
    Many thanks

All new notebook models including your one are delivered without recovery DVD.
Recovery image is saved on second partition in folder called HDDRecovery.
Akuma is right. You must create recovery media using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". The shortcut you can find on the desktop. Please do this and for recovery media creation I recommend you to use high quality DVD-R media like TDK or Verbatim.
You can install OS using F8 button at start up. The guideline how to do this you can find under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
Please note. This can be done if this recovery image is not modified or if you install other operating system on first partition. the second partition can be in original state but this F8 option will be gone.
If you have more questions please let me know.

  • Satellite L300D - Deleted Recovery Partition

    Hi All,
So I'm an idiot and deleted the recovery parition on my Satellite L300D.
I have a WinVista installation disc, and I found what I thought were the SATA drivers, loaded them during Windows installation - no go.
Can someone point me at a DL for a recovery disc or the right drivers to install during the straight Windows installation?
Any help would be super appreciated!

    >Can someone point me at a DL for a recovery...
I dont know what DL means but what I want to write here is follow: original recovery image is not downloadable and if you want to have original Toshiba recovery disc for your machine you must order it under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
If you want to install own os version what do you think about Win7?
I mean I have installed Win7 32bit on friends L300 and it works perfectly.

  • HP 7 Plus 1301 - Need recovery image of 1.1.3

    Good morning,
I bought an HP 7 Plus 1301 last week, and unfortunately the file system is corrupt. It cannot load Android and I need to flash a recovery image.
Unfortunately the recovery image available on the HP website is version 1.0.9
When I attempt to flash the recovery, it fails on a check of the ro.build.date.utc less_than_int
This means it is checking if the recovery image is older than the version currently installed, which is 1.1.3
Can I please be sent a recovery image (update.zip) for 1.1.3 or later so that I can restore the software on the tablet?

Hi millab, welcome to the HP Forums. Unfortunately there are no other versions available of the recovery image.
You should be able to get passed the version comparison by doing a 'wipe data / factory reset'.
You can find the instructions under "Resetting when the tablet does not start" in this document:  Performing a Factory Reset on Your Tablet (Android KitKat, Jelly Bean)
    I hope this helps.

  • How to install recovery image on my Satellite L655-121?

    I Have a SATELLITE L655-121 Toshiba's labtop ,,,
I've made a Recovery to get rid of the problems i faced in Windows 8 beta ,, but the recovery didn't completed :(
Now i can't either repair or remake the recovery !! I've stuck !
I can't use the HDD Recovery that presents on ' D ' Driver !! and i don't have the CD on which the copy is present ,, i just have the Serial Number :D
The Widows is " 7 Home Premium OA "
The laptop is useless now ,, what should i do ? if i downloaded this Windows from Microsoft and used the S.N I have , should this work correctly ??

    >... but the recovery didn't completed
    How to understand this?
    > if i downloaded this Windows from Microsoft and used the S.N I have , should this work correctly ??
No. serial number has nothing to do with recovery image.
If you want to have original Toshiba recovery image installed on your notebook you must order Toshiba recovery disc - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
Other option is to install own OS version and later install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities additionally. All of them you can find and download from Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Satellite L300D - Vista recovery disc fails

    Hi,
my 1 Y old satellite L300D-12U /VISTA was sold without recovery disc, so I made the discs as described in the users guide.
last week we wanted to reinstalll the system and tried to use the disc, the installation started, but after 15 minutes it failed with some error messages ....
as mentioned several times in this forum I ordered an official product recovery disc , taht was shipped by the german supplier arvato services.
unfortunately these installations failed with the same messages .. as described below.
any comments, what to do (except buying a new vista license ...) ??
    thank you !
    description:
the systems boots from disc to the entry screen, I can define a language
the system builds 3 partitions and formatted them
    then ImageX extracts some Software

after 5 or 6 Retries .... with similar error message
    ERROR 1117 \ehcyrtt.dll [UncompressFile Seq 60 -> createfiel failed ]
    winload.exe failed

In my opinion you should contact nearest authorized service and explain the situation. I can imagine that self created recovery DVD can be somehow defect but original one. I don't think so
I don't know for sure but maybe HDD make problems.
Contact service and explain the situation. they can put new HDD inside and test recovery installation with your original Toshiba recovery DVD.

NB. If i restart the laptop boots so far and displays BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl Alt Del to restart...
    All help much appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    Rick0684

    > NB. If i restart the laptop boots so far and displays BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl Alt Del to restart...
Hmm... for me it looks like the notebook does not boot from the disk (DVD) but it tries to boot from the HDD....
Anyway, did you try to boot from another disks; for example Win XP, Linux Live CD?
Do this and check if this is possible... if yes, format the HDD and try to boot from the recovery disk again!
PS: Did you try an HDD recovery option?
Power up the unit, press F8 and in choose Repair my Computer
After that choose Toshiba HDD recovery option if possible.

  • Need graphic card XP driver for Satellite L300D-043

    Hi Everyone !
Here's one you never heard before - I toasted the OS on this Toshiba L300D-043 that is really a PSLC8C-043019 from it's bloody useless VISTA down to XP and I managed to dig up enough drivers for everything except the video card in it.
Now I show it as a ATI Radeon 3100 series, at least thats what the windows 7 install says it is .....
So one again the hunt continues .... does anyone know what other series of laptops has the same video chipset and it will install happilly on this PC?
I went to ATI and found the chipset and got told by the site they don''t provide it for the mobility series .... thanks ATI !
Once again, I need the XP version of a ATI video driver that will run on a Toshiba D300L-043 that used to be Vista and now runs XP Pro instead!!
    Thanks for your help !!
    Cheers'

  • Need to buy 19V 4.7A charger for Satellite L300D

I would love if someone could help me.
My charger for my toshiba satellite L300D broke recently I bought a 19V 4.74A charger and it blow my battery even though I was told it was only slightly more powerful and wouldn't effect the laptop!
I have looked everywhere for a 19v 4.7A charger but cant find any on the internet or anything!
Can someone please help me if I cant find one I will have to buy a new laptop.

    Hi
I guess you could find a part number at the bottom of the old AC adaptor.
The simplest procedure would be searching for this partnumber in the internet to find an online dealer.
As the last option you could order the part from Toshiba ASP in your country.
The guys can provide always the compatible notebook parts.
    Good luck

  • Satellite L300D BSOD after upgrading to Windows 7

I've had this laptop (Satellite L300D) for a bit more than a year with windows vista (32-bit) running and there have been no problems. However, i just recently upgraded to Windows 7 (x64) and have gotten problems since the first reboot.
On the first reboot after windows 7 installation, the computer simply turned off after the "Starting Windows" screen. Powering it up again took me to system repair where it performed a system restore and i was able to boot successfully again. I thought the problem had something to do with the automatic updates so i disabled them and tried to reboot to see if the problem was fixed. This time, after the "Starting Windows" screen i got a Fatal System Error BSOD. After multiple reboot attempts and multiple system repair attempts (which usually said it failed) it successfully booted up again.
This problem has been going for about 3 weeks now and it's quite irritating. The results from the system repair claims that a "Boot Critical File is Corrupt" but it does boot up eventually after multiple attempts to boot. It also has a habit of turning itself off randomly while running (happens about once or twice a day). So as of now, everytime i try to start my comp it either turns off after the startup screen or gives the BSOD and restarts and the only way to get it working seems to be to keep attempting to boot and hope for a successful boot up (this eventually happens after a few failed attempts).
I did a bit of research on this and came to [this|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?modelFilter=L300D-ST3501&rpn=PSLC8U&category=&selCategory=3&moid=222 1251&os=&ct=DL&selFamily=1073768663] page. I think that's exactly what my problem is (need to update BIOS) but as i understand the windows install for that is only for xp/2000/vista and i'm unable to use the second option of booting from disc as i get the BSOD before it gets to that point. Should i try the windows install option even though i'm running windows 7 or is there some other way to update the BIOS? Or am i completely off and the problem is with something else?
I wasn't sure what information i should add to this post so if any further information is required please let me know.
    Thanks in advance
Edit: Oops, just realised the page i linked doesn't link to exactly what i had opened. I'm talking about the "Critical BIOS updates for 64-bit Windows 7" under "Support Bulletin"

    Hi
First of all it would be interesting to know which BSOD code you get exactly. Can you post this useful information? Normally on the Microsoft Knowledge Base you can find additional informations about the most BSOD codes and so you can start to fix this issue.
BSOD are often related to drivers or RAM/HDD. Latter you can check with special diagnostic tools, Memtest86 for RAM and Drive Fitness Test for HDD. Both tools are freeware and you can find it by using Google. You can download an iso image of them to create a bootable media where you can start the test.
Regarding your BIOS update: I dont know which L300D you have exactly but according the Toshiba website it shows a BIOS update also for Windows 7 64bit. You can try to install it.
