Satellite L300D - Where to get Recovery Disc?

My Grandson's L300D has got a damaged HDD which I want to replace for him.
However he doesn't have a recovery disk and the recovery file on the original HDD are not accessable.
Does anyone know if there is a recovery disk available for this model?

Hi sisgen,
> he doesn't have a recovery disk
Its really hard to hear such things
Why? That means you and/or your grandson didnt read the user manual. The user manual contains a lot of interesting informations and also about Toshiba recovery disk. You can find the information, that you have to create this disk yourself using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disk creator.
Anyway, now you should visit the Toshiba page for ordering a new recovery disk.

  • How to restore the Satellite L25 - where to get Recovery disk

    Hi..
I wanted to format my hard drive on my L25 laptop which currently has Win XP, but am not sure if I ever got a recovery CD/DVD from the person I bought it from.
Does anyone know if this laptop (L25-s1192) would contain an image of the recovery disk or if I can get a recovery disk from somewhere or any other way to format the disk and reinstall the original contents of the laptop?
Would greatly appreciate if you could reply back.
    Thanks.. Amare

    Hi
Usually the older Toshiba series were equipped with the recovery disk and the Toshiba image is placed on the recovery cd.
If you have a recover disk then you will have to boot from such disk to start the recovery procedure.
If you dont have a recovery disk then you can use a clean Microsoft Windows XP CD to reinstall the OS and the necessary drivers could be downloaded from the Toshiba US driver page.
This is a US notebook and you have to search on US page for drivers.

  • Satellite C650-15X refuses to boot Win 7 - Where to get recovery?

    Hi,
I find myself in the US with a crashed laptop after a Trojan infection (PUP-...). Malwarebytes removed it, but the computer refuses to open Windows, even in safe mode. All attempts lead to the Toshiba repair program that fails every time. I am trying to get a recovery disc for this machine. On the phone Toshiba-USA says to contact Toshiba-France who in turn says sorry, through internet only. On their site, I cannot find the right page, although I am French.
Does somebody know the page address to order recovery disc for a Toshiba Satellite C650-15X ? (of course I have the serial #)
    Thank you for your help,

  • Satellite A300-243 - Easy Keys & Recovery Disc don't work

Hi, I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite A300 243 and I decided to reinstall system to Vista Ultimate 64 bit (because of the 4GB ram usage).
It took me a few hours, but in the end I found all needed drivers and everything is working fine, except one thing - those multimedia keys (I think they're called Easy Keys). Start, Stop, Next track and Preview track works fine, but the first (by default used for toggling illumination) and the second (by default used for starting W Media Player) just don't work. I have installed the latest version of VAP for 64 bit Vista and in Toshiba Button Support I'm not able to change anything. The list, where normally I'm able to choose a key to edit its function, is empty. I found a few similar problems on this forum, but without any useful answer - lookes like the only way is to use the Toshiba Recovery option, and at this point I'm getting to my second problem.
The second problem is in Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator and Toshiba HDD Recovery tool. At first, before I reinstalled Vista to 64 bit version I wanted to create Recovery Disc, but Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator just didn't started. Then I found the HDD Recovery option, and I read, that this tool is placed on a hidden partition, so I thought I will be able to recover the old system with this tool in case of any compication. So I reinstalled the system and wanted to go back to 32 bit, because it looked like its slower and at first I wasn't able to find all necessary drivers. And what a surprise - Recovery tool disappeared!
Now the only thing I'm missing on 64 bit version is those two multimedia keys.
And the last question - is there any chance to get a Recovery Disc with Vista 64 bit?

    Hello
As you said for the easy keys or also called illumination buttons you need the Toshiba Value Added Package. The Satellite A300-243 belongs to the PSAG8E series and therefore you can find all drivers and tools on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Before you install the VAP, make sure that all drivers are installed and SP1 for Vista at least. Then you can install it and normally then you can use the FN keys, illumination buttons, etc.
Make also sure that you have installed the newest BIOS for your notebook.
About your problem with the recovery disk creator and HDD recovery option I can only say that these features are only available on the preinstalled Vista version. That means if you upgrade to Vista 64bit you cant use the HDD recovery option anymore and also the recovery disk creator.
So if the recovery disk creator doesnt work you should use the HDD recovery option but this is not stored on a hidden partition. These files are stored on the second partition of HDD in the folder HDDrecovery. The hidden partition that you mean belongs is a Vista feature: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Recovery_Environment
But just one question: Did you already create a recovery disk?

  • Satellite L300D - How to get rid of Aston Shell software

    Hi
I bought a new computer Satellite L300D last month and was very happy with it.
Unfortunately yesterday, by accident, I ran a progrmme called Aston Shell.
    My entire screen computer changed.
When it came up on MacAffee it asked if I wanted to change my registry. I pressed NO.
Now, it won't shut down properly, I don't know where to find my files. It also tells me this is a thirty day trial, so I'm afraid at the end of the thirty days my computer won't be any good.
Some one told me I should be able to change back to to Windows Explorer through my preferences and that my OS shouldn't be affected.
I don't know what that means. It was also suggested not uninstall Aston until I do this.
Although I am grateful to this person for there advice, I don't know what to do. I'm getting into a bit of a panic.
Can anyone please help me. Thankyou.

    Hi
I think you should simply set back the OS to the early time point.
Vista and XP supports such feature called system restore tool.
Check this tool and set the OS to the time point before the Aston Shell has been installed.
    I think this should function!

  • To get recovery disc

    Hello.
I bought  satellite M305-S4910  s/n z8140026w  last spring in States.
Now i live in Russia, Moscow. I had to change hard disc in official Toshiba's repairing company here. But they didn't install operating system 'cause they don't have recovery disc for this laptop.
So how can i get it?
    Thank you.

Please edit your post to remove your Serial Number.  It isn't needed and should NEVER be posted in a public forum.  No support person would ever need or ask for the serial number for any reason in a public forum.  They might ask you to send it via a PM, but only do that if you know the person is an actual employee of the company (like Jim, the admin here sometimes requests it to assist users).  NONE of the rest of us are Toshiba Employees and have no need or use for your serial number.
You'll need to have it shipped to someone in the USA that you know and have them ship it to you in Russia.  Toshiba USA can NOT ship out of the USA and they are the only source of the disks.
And before you complain about this take note that if you had followed instructions found in the users guide and created your recovery disks yourself like you were supposed to you wouldn't be in this prediciment.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Satellite L300D will not recognize USB Disc unless WLAN is disabled

I have a venerable Satellite L300D running Vista SP2. I also have a Fujitsu 40Gb SATA disk drive from my old laptop in a USB 2.0 caddy, with dual USB plugs to draw more current.
I can connect the USB caddy successfully to my Windows 7 laptop through a single USB plug on a USB 2.0 socket so I know it works.
On the Satellite L300D it sets up the Generic USB disc in device manager, but does not register the 2 disk partitions as filestore in Windows Explorer. In fact when you try and expand COMPUTER in explorer it times out.
I noticed that the WLAN (Realtek TL8187B) is on the same USB 2.0 Controller, so I disabled it. This switched off my Wireless, but immediately Windows Explorer fired into life and I could access the partitions (D: and G:) and could even run check disk (no fails) and defragment it. As soon as I ENABLE the WLAN driver the disc fails to register.
I have updated the Realtek drivers from the Toshiba web site, but I would like a solution that allows me to use the disc AND the WLAN at the same time.
    Anyone any ideas?

Thanks for getting back to me.
I use both USB drives and a Toshiba external HDD and SyncToy to backup my files - both without trouble. The Toshiba HDDworks fine today - in Device Manager it is recognised as "TOSHIBA External USB 3.0 USB Device" (even though I dont have USB 3.0 ports on my laptop) and is recognised by Partition manager as disc D:. The Disc caddy is recognised as "Generic USB Disk USB Device" - but not by Partition Manager - both use the same driver and hang off the same controller. The Caddy disc works fine on my other laptop (Windows 7) and once I've disabled the WLAN.
I had not done any specific driver downloads other than let Windows Update do its thing. It has taken me to Vista SP2 and I note that the "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" (above the USB Root Hub and USB Mass Storage Device in the Device Mgr hierarchy) are at File Version: 6.0.6002.18465(vistasp2_gdr.110505-037).
Since I noticed the recognition problems and interaction with WLAN, I have done some attempted repairs (1) downloaded the latest Toshiba realtek WLAN drivers "6.1162.0610 built by : Win DDK" (realtek_wlan_20100225.zip) - but it was failing before then. (2) I have also upgraded the BIOS to version 1.80. (3) The only other change I've made is to change the driver on the PCI bus from AMD (3GIO) Filter Driver to PCI Bus on advice from another forum.
When you say "remove the WLAN driver, reinstall the chipset driver and install the WLAN driver again" what exactly do you mean? EG in deveice manager - select WLAN - do uninstall ; what do you mean by chipset? - uninstall the Controller as well or some other device?

  • Satellite L300D-202: Restore using Recovery disk does not work

After this I am left with the Toshiba recovery software running with no action and an Active DOS screen but nothing happening...
I'm guessing HD fault, Recovery media received today from Toshiba for this system
    Laptop is:
    Satellite L300D 202
NB. If i restart the laptop boots so far and displays BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl Alt Del to restart...
    All help much appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    Rick0684

    > NB. If i restart the laptop boots so far and displays BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl Alt Del to restart...
Hmm... for me it looks like the notebook does not boot from the disk (DVD) but it tries to boot from the HDD....
Anyway, did you try to boot from another disks; for example Win XP, Linux Live CD?
Do this and check if this is possible... if yes, format the HDD and try to boot from the recovery disk again!
PS: Did you try an HDD recovery option?
Power up the unit, press F8 and in choose Repair my Computer
After that choose Toshiba HDD recovery option if possible.

  • Satellite P850 - Where to get Toshiba Blu-ray player?

    Hi,
I recently reformatted my p850/049 for windows 7. I tried to install the Toshiba Blu-Ray Disc player V1.0.3.196A, the file didn't work at all and when I tried to install it manually "cannot find player in your system. Installation Aborted". On the download page it is listed as a patch, but where do I find the original file? I have SP1 Windows 7 pro 64 bit, all up do date as of 24th May 2013
I found V1.0.5.110 from the US version of the Toshiba support site and this installed and does play DVD's and it tries to open a Blu-Ray but it gets stuck on blank screen and doesn't play or allow me to do anything like skip scene or go to the menu. There's no error message complaining about region or corrupt files or anything it just goes to a blank screen, with the controls available but they don't do anything. As I said dvd's work perfectly, just not blu-rays.
The player itself seems to function normally on this screen and when you try to click buttons it comes up with a circle with a line through it when you try and click buttons like a normal dvd player if you tried to skip through the copyright warnings and the time index is always a small number ie 25 seconds or so. As if it were trying to play a small segment like the copyright section or something.
I've tried a number of different Blu-ray discs and none of them work. I downloaded a trial of another Blu-ray player program and it plays Blu-rays all the same ones that don't work on the Toshiba player (so the hardware works), so i'm looking for a free one that works without leaving a watermark on the screen. It seems silly as I expected my machine to PLAY BLU-RAYS without me having to buy software.
    Any help would be appreciated

    > I tried to install the Toshiba Blu-Ray Disc player V1.0.3.196A, the file didn't work at all and when I tried to install it manually "cannot find player in your system. Installation Aborted"
Yes, this is a patch file and you cannot install this without having installed an full version.
But I found on the Toshiba Australian driver page the Toshiba Video Player 5.0.0.16-A
Did you try to install this application?
At the other hand I could recommend the usage of freeware software like VLC Player.
This is really great and in my opinion the best player you can get for free.

  • Portege 3440: Where to get Recovery disk & drivers

    Firstly hello to everyone,
This is my first post and i'm afraid it concerns a bit of an oldey.
I have come into the possetion of a Portege 3440 netbook with the external fdd and cd drives.
The problem is the cd drive works via the network card port ( i think it's pcmia?)
I'm a silver surfer so not to sure.
Does anyone know where i can get the system disk for this machine and how to go about installing relevant drivers etc,
I am hoping to get it up and running using win2k but would revert to win98se if nescessary.
Sorry this is so long winded but hope you can help me.
Grateful thanks in advance to all.

    Hi mate
This is very old notebook machine and Im afraid you would not be able to order the recovery disk for this notebook.
You will need to install the Windows OS using a Microsoft disk.
On the Toshiba European driver page you will be able to find drivers and software for this notebook.
You need to choose Archive in Product Type because the old drivers are placed in Archive.
There you will find USB-FDD Driver. When connecting the USB floppy drive to the notebook there will either be prompted for a TEAC driver (mainly Europe) or a YE-data driver (mainly Asia). Please check which of the two drivers you require by connecting the floppy drive to the notebook in order to download the right driver.
You will also find Companion Diskette. The Companion diskette contains programs to configure Toshiba computers with setup information and to test the hardware. It also contains files and utilities that allow you to get the most from your Toshiba computer.

  • Satellite X - Where to get firmware update?

I have a Toshiba Notebook with following internal DVD-RW drive: "TS L632D T004 Toshiba".
The problem is, this drive doesen't burn DVD+r DL without failures.
I made quite much attempts with 10 DL DVDs und five different burning suites, without success.
So I guess to fix this failure with a firmware update.
Can somebody tell me where I can get this update?
    thanks :)
    Best Regards,

    Hi buddy,
Why should this issue related to the firmware?
In my opinion you should try removing the upper and lower filters in registry. Just follow this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
And firmware updates you can get from the Toshiba website.

  • Satellite L300: Where to get free software available for HD-DVD playback

    I have a toshiba Satelitte L300 and an xbox 360 hd-dvd drive.
Can i get the Toshiba hd dvd player software without having to pay as i originally have the normal dvd play software?
If not does anyone know if there is any freeware software available for hd-dvd playback
    Thanks

    Hi neill64,
Im a little bit confused about your posting. I dont understand why your Xbox 360 has something to do with your notebook.
For watching HD DVDs you need a drive that can read this kind of disk. Furthermore as Mike30 wrote HD DVD player is preinstalled on all notebooks with such a drive. Alternative you can use VLC media player for watching DVDs. I also use this player!

  • Repair using Recovery Disc for Satellite A100

Is it possible to do a *Repair* on my Toshiba Satellite A100-049 using the Recovery Disc that came with the laptop
    Regards

    Hi Dr Lamp,
It started about a week ago, when I think I had problems with the Malware /Virus "Fake Alert" where a meesage kept coming up saying I needed to repair or words to the effect. I then lost my desktop and my folders were empty in the start menu, and the screen was black.
I ran McaFee antivirus, Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware. I then ran Unhide and rKill. I got the desktop back with a couple of Word documents that would not open but the folders in the start menu where either ok files missing or empty.
I now keep getting redirected when searching but not always, also when I switch the laptop on Photshop opens up as though it is trying to open a file up,there is a message appears Photshop cannot open this kind of document.
The only program I have set to open on start up is McAfee.
I have tried a few system restores with the same result.
After system restore the laptop seems to start up ok, but the next time it is started Photoshop opens again.
I seem to be going round in circles, I really don't want to use the Restore option if at al possible.

  • Re: Is Satellite L300D provided with recovery disk?

    Hi,
I do not get a recovery disk when I bought my Satellite L300D.
Does anyone know If Satellite L300D is provided with recovery disk?
As far as i know computers manufactured from mid 2007 are no longer provided with recovery disks for the operating system. How do I know what year my satellite is manufactured?
    Many thanks

All new notebook models including your one are delivered without recovery DVD.
Recovery image is saved on second partition in folder called HDDRecovery.
Akuma is right. You must create recovery media using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator". The shortcut you can find on the desktop. Please do this and for recovery media creation I recommend you to use high quality DVD-R media like TDK or Verbatim.
You can install OS using F8 button at start up. The guideline how to do this you can find under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
Please note. This can be done if this recovery image is not modified or if you install other operating system on first partition. the second partition can be in original state but this F8 option will be gone.
If you have more questions please let me know.
