Satellite L305D-S5934 sound quality

I just bought a Satellite L305D-S5934, and the sound level was really low when I tried to play a DVD on it; however, the sound level was fine with youtube and amazon. Does anyone know what could be the problem? It's not the DVD itself, because I tried to play it on a different laptop, and it was fine... Could it be the Toshiba DVD player?
Thanks for your help

i have this same problem. i even tried head phones and speakers and the sound is even harder to hear. its mostly with movies i watch via streaming video. i havnt even tried a dvd in this laptop yet, i just bought it. but now when i get home today i will try one. eagerly waiting for some insite to fix this issue.

I Have a new Satellite L305D-S5934 and from the beginning I've been having some problems, whenever something seems to be "too much" for it to handle, like installing programs whit other windows open, or like using google earth, it just goes black, and in order to turn it off I have to keep the power button pressed, or while watching a video, everything frizzes but the sound goes on, ans other similar things.

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 does not boot - blank screen

    I have a problem with a 2 year old satellite l305d-s5934.
On switching on, the power light comes on but the hard drive light does not and the screen stays blank.
I have tried removing the battery and restarting without it after pressing power button, but nothing changes.
Any advice on fixing the problem would be welcome.
    Thanks

    Hi
Remove battery, disconnect the AC adaptor and leave the notebook disconnected for a longer period of time. After that connect both parts can try to power up the unit once again
If this does not help, check the RAM. Remove the single module and test both slots using each module.
Of course it could be possible that both modules are faulty and this procedure would not help you.
In worst case the motherboard might be affected in such case only mobo replacement would be helpful.

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 - After XP installation nothing works

I recently had an error with my Satellite L305D-S5934, it was running vista. It wouldn't wouldnt start up so I had to install Windows XP, but now nothing works.
Is there something i can do to get the video graphics back to normal and wifi and everything that was factory on the laptop?

    Hi drftking23,
    > but now nothing works.
    Wow, very detailed! :D
Anyway, I think the problem is that you need drivers for your hardware so WLAN, LAN and all other devices dont work.
Everything what you need you can download on Toshiba US page where you can find your notebook model:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com
But let me give you a word of advice: Just use the Toshiba recovery disk where all drivers and tools are preinstalled. This disk contains a ready image of factory settings with all drivers and tools, its pretested and configured by Toshiba.
    Maybe its an option ;)

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 - After shutdown the power light is still on

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934 two weeks ago.
Here lately, I can't seem to fully shut it down. I select shut down from the start menu. It appears to shut down (the screen goes black) but the power light is still on and I can hear it making noises inside like it's still running.
    I'm running Windows Vista.

    Hi
Does this issue appear always? I mean is this a permanent status that your notebook cannot power up correctly? Or does it happen only sometimes?
From my knowledge the Vista the default action for the Power button in the Start Menu in is Sleep. So your notebook would not power up but would go into the sleep mode.
You can change this like described here:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/change-the-windows-vista-power-buttons-to-shut-down/
Furthermore you should check if your BIOS is up to date.
Choose your notebook model (it seems like a US series) and download the compatible BIOS.
    Check it!

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 Black Screen

Hi, my 2 month old Satellite L305D-S5934 was working fine.  Then, when I started it, the screen is black.  Everything else seems normal.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Scott

    Satellite L305D-S5934
Probably you have a hardware malfunction.
But it's possible you encountered this bug.
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2008 stops responding (hangs) during startup
If so, it should start up when you try again. Vista's Service Pack 2 (out next week) should cure it.

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 Switching Users

When switching users on my Satellite L305D-5934 the screen goes black with no cursor blink, complete black screen, also does it when logging off.  Only thing I can do is do a restart and go back to login screen, total pain.  I did a restart in safe mode and the screen does not go black in safe mode.  I've also done a restore to a previous date and still did not correct the problem.  Any suggestions?

the screen does not go black in safe mode.
What happens when you boot clean as follows?
       1. Open the System Configuration utility (msconfig.exe).
       2. On the General tab, click Selective startup and clear the Load startup items check box.
       3. On the Services tab, click the Hide all Microsoft services check box and click Disable all.
       4. OK out and restart the computer.

  • Satellite L305D-S5974 sound

Sound works fine on laptop speakers.  Can't seem to get any sound out to my projector.  Tried changing the sound to the projector in the control panel. No good.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

    Satellite L305D-S5959
You do not say how you are connecting your laptop to your projector. If you are using the external monitor RGB port on the side of your computer, as per the instructions on page 69 of your Satellite L300 Series User's Guide this will never carry sound, it will only carry the video signal. In this case, you could only connect the sound to your projector by plugging into your headphone jack with a mini-plug cable and connecting this to your projector.

  • Toshiba satellite L305D-S5934 hard drive problem

Trying to do a system recovery on my laptop and not having any luck. These are the errors I get..
    Error 08-0e89-0000 partition creation failed
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
    Error : 20-FFFE-045D
I have tried every recovery option and Toshiba sent me recovery disks but still no luck. Anything else I should try? Thanks in advance!

A friend of mine asked me to look at their Toshiba laptop having same issues with hard drive that I have read about "Error 20-FFFE-045D",we have since replaced the hard drive based upon info I read about that error online and we are still receiving the same error message upon reinstall of windows on the laptop. Any other possible things we can look into?

  • (L305D-S5934)Processor upgrades? Is it possible with my model?

I have the Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934, and everything about this laptop is dandy... Besides it's processor.
The AMD Turion X2 was a great processor, maybe 3 years ago... But, in this day and age - it doesn't help me run jack.  My ATI Radeon 3100 graphics card is growing old too, but I'm pretty sure that there is no way for me to change it.
    Help?

You can upgrade to Yosemite. You WILL NOT be happy running in only 2gb of ram, you need AT LEAST 4gb and more is better.

  • L305D-S5934 Has formatted hard drive, can I load recovery disk from a different machine?

    Hi,
I have an older L305D (can't remember the sub group model, but it does not have the web cam).  The LCD screen went out so I bought a L305D-S5934 with a formatted hard drive.  I swapped my old hard drive into the new computer, but it will not boot up.  It tried to recover, but that failed.  Can I make a recovery disk with my old computer to use in the new one, even though they are different sub models?  The new computer has a Windows license on it.  If I can't make a recovery disk with the old one that will work, can I get a copy of Vista Home and use the license on the new computer to install it or does the license only work with the recovery disks?  Once I have an operating system installed, I know I can get the right drivers from this website.  Any help/ideas would be appreciated!  I would rather not have to buy a recovery disk through Toshiba if I can avoid it.

    That won't work.

The OEM key won't work with a retail version of Windows. (And with the recovery discs it's unnecessary, because that one is pre-activated.)
The recovery media from Toshiba costs less than the product key for the retail installation DVD. And you don't need to mess around adding drivers and utilities.

  • Goes to blank(white)page several times a day (L305d-S5934)

For no aparent reason it goes to a solid white and blank screen, When i do CTRL,ALT,DEL, and start task manager, It says blank page running, So i end that task and it's fine untill it decides to do it again? Is that a prob with laptop or with vista program? Thanks for your advice.

Certainly abnormal, but could be caused by software. Can you make it occur on demand. If so, we can make experiments to find out what the culprit is.

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 Boot Problems - HELP!

I'm sure this question has been asked, or I could find the information elsewhere, however, I'm neither computer savvy nor patient enough to look for this info. Therefore, I need some help with a problem on my Satellite L305D-S5934 laptop. When I "power-up" the unit, I get this Windows Boot Manager message:
Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.
If you continue to recieve this erroe message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
               File:  \Boot\BCD
               Status:  OxcOOOOOe9
Info:  An unexpected I/O error has occured.
    ENTER=Continue                                                                                                                            ESC=Exit
Every time I get to this point, and then hit enter to continue, it acts like it might boot up, then it goes blank. I don't know a lot about computers. We've had this laptop for roughly 6-7 weeks now, and haven't had a problem. We've never used a portable storage device on it, ever, and it is used for nothing more than my wife on Facebook, and checking e-mail and IMDB while watching movies. Basically a play computer while watching TV. It worked fine until last Wednesday, then it just did this after shutting down one night. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 - Serious Over Heating.

I posted about this before and believed it fixed.
I use the laptop listed in the subject. Satellite L305D-S5934.
I downgraded to Windows XP Professional, after having numerous issues with Vista. Only change from stock features.
Recently I have noticed the left side of the laptop (Where the vent is) heating up to a almost burning state.  The vent is untouchable.  I notice the effect is at its fullest whenever a larger program is open. Warm when only system processes are running, hot when Firefox is running, and Foremen Grill style when World of warcraft is open.
I've tried QnC through Bios, it cools it, but at the cost of my laptop dragging so slow, nothing is possible.  In Windows QnC only seems to work when the system is idle.  Any activity (at all) reverts it back to standard speeds.
Can anyone suggest what could be causing this?  Or suggest a program that might help underclock my processor to a speed faster then QnC but still slower then max speed.
Thank you in advanced.  And I apologize for having so many issues. ;D
My weapon of choice: Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5943

Have you attempted to take the laptop apart, to see if the fan or heat sink fins are clogged with dust?  It is actually fairly easy to do on an L305/L305D.  If the fins are clogged, it will have serious issues with cooling.  I just recently had to take my mother's laptop apart, as her's was getting hot enough to burn her leg.  I found dust/fur/etc packed between the fan blades and the fins of the heat sink.  It was about the size of a small pack of wrigley's gum.  Once removed, her laptop runs at the proper temp once again.
I also suggest setting the laptop on a desk, tray table, or notebook cooler.  Setting it directly on your lap will block the fan, and increase the risk of pulling in debris from your clothes.
