Satellite L350-12N - Beeps when booting

Hi there,
I bought this as a reconditioned laptop, and I'm having trouble getting it to boot. When it's switched on, it shows the welcome to Toshiba screen where you can press function keys to enter the setup screens, then the screen goes black, makes a continuous beeping noise, and goes no further. It doesn't load the operating system.
I've tried restoring the operating system from the hard drive as instructed in the manual, but the same fault remains. Is this a known indicator of a hardware or software fault?
Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Hi,
If we just switch it on and leave it to it's own devices, it reaches the toshiba screen, then the screen goes black and it makes the loud beeping noise. It sounds like separate beeps back to back with no gaps. It doesn't load the operating system.
We did manage to install the operating sytem by interrupting the normal boot sequence by pressing F8 and selecting Windows Vista. By doing this 2 or 3 times, Vista installed and launched as we would expect. At it's final restart during setup, it booted and launched without beeping.
This morning, I switched it on, and it's beeping again! In an effort to stop the beeping, I pressed F8, and it took me to the logon screen! I entered my details, and it launched windows as you would expect. This surely is not normal!
We seem to nave no option to enter the bios settings.
We've restarted it once or twice since, and it's started up just fine, so it seems to be in intermittent fault.
We haven't made a recovery disk yet, as last night we couldn't get that far! We used the HDD recovery.
Is this looking like a hardware fault we need to get the vendor to sort? Are there any known reasons for this beep? It sounds like a warning beep.
Thanks for your help!

  • K7N2G Beeps when booting for first time

I purshased the K7N2G series motherboard, and after connecting everything when I boot it beeps for about 1 and 1/2 seconds straight then stops, then a few seconds later it does it again.  It does this until I power it off.  A few times I was able to get into the BIOS, where the only things I set were the boot order, disabled the floppy controller, and changed the FSB to 133Mhz.  But nonetheless, it did this before I got into the BIOS the first time.  I have the following items attached to it:
AMD 2200 w/ fan(which I made sure was working correctly when I booted)
    256MB DDR333 memory(installed in slot 1)
40GB brand new unpartitioned IBM hard drive
    HP 4x CDRW drive
Hard drive is set as master and plugged into the middle of the cable, and cdrom is slave at the end both connected to IDE 1.  I realize this isnt the best way to have them hooked up but its only like that for convenience purposes now.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks.

  • Type dash continously and beep when booting

My Folio 13-1000eo continuously type dash "-" while in Windows and when I reboot it beeps but pressing escape get to the menu included in the HP Folio where I can edit the diagnostics application and from there I can get past the beeping as soon as I turn the computer on and boot to Windows.
It appears to me that there probably is a keyboard problem. I remove the dash-key but the beeping still persist so I would say that there isn't a problem with the key got stuck in some way. I've pressed on every key on the keyboard in order to release any other key maybe as a side effect resulting in this situation but it doesn't help.
What do you think, is this a keyboard problem leaving me with replacing the keyboard or do you think it is something else and do you have any idea how  to troubleshoot this issue any further?
    Kind regards

  • Satellite P300-13M - beeps on boot

    Hello,
My notebook now and then beeps at startup and then I get a black screen (and can't do anything)
The beepingsounds goes as follow: BEEEEEEEEEEEP BEEP BEEP (1 long - 2 short)
Anyone knows what this could be?
This is very annoying when I want to show a project to my client and suddenly the notebook isn't working anymore....
    Thnx in advance,
    Raey

    Hi!
The beep codes mean that there is a hardware component faulty.
Its not easy to say what is the reason for this but in your case I would try to exchange the RAM.
If it doesnt work you should contact an ASP and ask for help. The technicians can check your notebook and exchange all necessary parts.
On the Toshiba website you can search for the nearest ASP:

  • Three beeps when booting new computer with MSI Z77A-G43 Mobo

I just built this pc and pressed the power button. Nothing happens for a few seconds and then I hear 3 beeps from the PC speaker. It powers off by itself and opens again, with 3 beeps again, and repeats this until i press the power button to close it down forcefully.
    Board: MSI Z77A-G43
Bios: I am not sure, but the box says Click BIOS II
VGA:   MSI 7850 Twin Frozr III
PSU:   Corsair Builder 600W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply
    CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor LGA 1155
    MEM: Corsair
HDD: 1 TB Western Digital Caviar Black
    COOLER: CoolMaster Hyper 212 EVO
    OC: none

3 beeps is a memory failure!
try each stick in slot 2 individually as you may possibly have a bad stick?
if the first suggestion doesn't work remove the CPU and check the socket as you may have a bent pin in there causing the issue?

I tried all combinations with new and old hardware but nothing more works...
I have changed the slots with both, the 16gb and old 4gb.
    Could be the DVD corrupted?
Now im running my Yosemite with the original hard drive and the new 16gb memory without any issue.

  • Satellite L350-20G powers down during boot up

My Satellite L350-20G starts to boot up and after 10 seconds powers off.
    Also it refuses to charge.
We have exchanged fully charged battery packs with an identical model and same problem.

I have the same problem with my Toshiba L series laptop
I check the output DC voltage of the battery, it reads 10.8 Volts, 4000mAh Model No. PA35346-1BA5
The DC output voltage of the AC/DC adapter, reads 19 volts at 3,95 amperes Model ADP-75SB BB
i think the adapter output voltage is not compatible with voltage requirement of battery of the laptop.
Please check your battery and ac/dc adapter ratings which affects the battery life, maybe there is an over voltage limit switch installed on the motherboard which keeps the unit turning off whenever the ac/dc adapter is connected due to higher voltage rating.
I think the allowable output voltage requirement of the AC/DC adapter should only be up to 12Volts DC to minimize the heat produced during charging period.

  • Continious beeping sound when booting up Satellite L350-235

    Hi everyone,
I have an issue on one of our Toshiba's. it gives me now a Continious beeping sound when booting up the machine after giving in the bootpw.
If i remove the battery and plug it back in it boots normally. But After the next reboot the problem occurs again.
    Any idea?
    Wim Bolanger

    Hi WimB_1,
    > it gives me now a Continious beeping sound when booting up the machine
That means your hardware is malfunctioning and something must be repaired or exchanged.
So in my opinion you should contact an authorized service provider. The guys can check your notebook and repair it. If your notebook is under warranty, the repair is for free.
Here you can find a list of them:

  • Late 2011 17 Inch MacBook Pro Not Booting, Three Beeps When I hold "C"

my late 2011 mbp 17 inch will not boot. In safe mode with verbose it stops at the point looking for my hard drive.  Disk utility in single user mode  said the SSD has "keys out of order" and could not verify disk etc.
However when I hold "c" aka trying to boot off my optical drive with Snow Leopard in it...it beeps three times, which after searching everyone seems convinced it's memory but I took out my upgraded memory that was in it and put the factory 4gig (2x2gb) sticks back in and it's the same exact thing...three beeps when holding "c".
If I hold nothing my computer shows the apple logo, the spining boot up activity icon, AND a progress bar at the bottom that get's about 1/6th of the way doing whatever it's doing and then it instantly shuts down.
Any other ideas besides the idea that my logic board that is 1 year old randomly stopped working? It's just weird that my 9 month old SSD is not being recognized while at the same time, holding "C" to try and call my optical drive to boot I get three beeps.

Three beeps means a RAM problem - bad RAM.

  • Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDE re-booting when plugged in

I have had this laptop put away for a while as I couldn't work through this problem, but I'm having another try.
The laptop is a Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDE.
The problem I am haiving is that the laptop would re-boot whenever I connect the PSU, but not when using a live CD (Ubuntu).
I would like to try and flash a replacement BIOS to see if that will solve the problem.
Unfortunately the software needed to flash the BIOS requires the laptop to be plugged in.
Is there any way around this problem?
Can I fool the software into thinking it is plugged in?
Is there a way I can revert/repair the BIOS in any other way as obviously the problem hasn't always been there.
    Thanks

So once again: notebook runs fine using battery power but reboot always (in the loop????) when AC adaptor is connected. But using Live CD the notebook runs ok even if the AC adaptor is connected.
    Right???
    >> I think it may be a BIOS issue because the laptop will run without an issue when booting a live cd, even when it is plugged in.
If the unit runs ok using Live CD, then this means that this cannot be BIOS issue because BIOS does not depend on installed system.
Therefore in my opinion its definitely not a BIOS problem.
I think you should firstly disable the automatic reboot when an system crashes Win 7 is configured to restart immediately when a BSOD happens and this happens too fast to see the error I think you mean this by automatic reboot
    Disable this by following way:
1)Control Panel -> System & Security -> System -> click the Advanced system settings
2)Locate the Startup and Recovery section near the bottom of the window and click Settings button.
3)In the Startup and Recovery window, uncheck the check box next to Automatically restart.
4)Now click OK and restart the unit
In my opinion the system crashed and therefore the notebook reboots

  • Satellite P10-504: continuous beeps when it is turned on

My P10-504 emits continuous beeps soon after it is turned on. It will stop beeping and reboot itself but go back to the continuous beeps. The way to get it to boot is to hit F2 and go into BIOS and then exit, then it will boot up OK.
I have depressed the keys when booting up to see if it might be sticky keys, but that has no effect.
If I take the all the memory out when it boots up it beeps to tell me I have no memory. If only one bank is in the continuous beeps return.
The one then it tends to do in Windows is to automatically bring up the search tool and constantly refreshes the screen unless esc is hit.
Any ideas or other tests to do??

    Hi,
I don't know where the problem is, but maybe you should try reinstalling the BIOS.
If it doesn't help please contact the ASP in your country.

If you cannot perform a recovery, then there likely is a hardware problem.  That's something that the warranty was meant to handle.  I'd suggest initiating a warranty repair by calling Toshiba Support at 800-457-7777..

  • Satellite L500-14Z starts to beep when it reaches 10% battery

    Greetings,
Since I have installed the sound card driver to my notebook, it always starts to beep when it reaches 10% battery in every 10 seconds. Its not a Windows voice, but i tried to search the sound controls and even the BIOS to turn this thing off. It can be usable in certain cases, but I really want to get rid of it or make it use only if the screen is off and I dont see the battery charge level.
All in all, the question again is, how can I turn off or control the beeping sound after 10% battery level without uninstalling the Realtek sound driver?
    Yours Sincerely,
    Quante

You are right about that. This beeping sound is part of low battery notification. When battery come to critical capacity level used must be informed and do something to save important data.
This beeping sound is pretty loud and cannot happen that notebook user ignore it.
When it happens at 10% of battery capacity you have enough time to connect your notebook to AC power supply or to save open data and switch your notebook off on regular way.
So this is normal behaviour and you must not be worried about it.
