  • Satellite L350 - Can't switch off wireless LAN

The wireless switch and the Fn-F8 key combo don't appear to be switching off the wireless adapter (REALTEK RTL8187B) in my Satellite L350 (Win 7 Home Premium x32).
ConfigFree shows the correct switch status i.e. OFF when it's off and ON when it's on. And the Fn+F8 key toggles between On and Off and recognises when the switch is off or on. But no matter whether they are on or off, the wireless connection icon in the notification area always show that "connections are available" and I can always establish a wireless connection. After toggling the Fn+F8 key a few times the established connection is dropped by conections are still shown as available.
I've updated the BIOS and REALTEK device driver to the latest versions, but the wireless adapter still appears to be always on/enabled unless I disable it via the control panel or the ConfigFree icon that's in the notification area.
Any suggestions about what the problem might be and is there a fix?
Also, what is supposed to happen and what notifications are you supposed to get when you switch the wirelss off - either via the switch or Fn+F8? I only recently bought the L350 to replace my ageing Toshiba Satellite A30 so am new to wireless networking and Windows 7.
    TIA

I have a Satellite L350 purchased pre loaded with Win7 Home Premium (32) and RealTek RTL8187B adapter which also has the fault described above.
    Namely: -
    1) The front panel RF/Wireless switch lights the LED in the "On" position and turns it off in the "Off" position. The wireless connection is not affected, it stays ON.
    2) The use of the FN+F8 keys gives an error message to turn the switch "On" if it is set to "Off", then once it is "On" correctly displays the setting. With the switch set to "On" the keys will turn off the LED on the front panel. The actual connection is unaffected by these actions and stays connected at all times unless disconnected via the notification area icon.
I initially thought this was a hardware fault and returned it to the retailers as the switch was quite sloppy. It has been returned and shows the same problem as before even though the switch has been replaced.
Therefore, having read the contents of this board it would seem there is a software issue here.
How do we get this resolved or what update am I missing?
The PC was bought at the end of Dec.

If you cannot perform a recovery, then there likely is a hardware problem.  That's something that the warranty was meant to handle.  I'd suggest initiating a warranty repair by calling Toshiba Support at 800-457-7777..

  • Satellite L350 - Can't install Vista and how can I backup my data?

    Hi to all
I have a Satellite L350 and recently I've installed Vista Home Premium in a different language (the OEM Vista was in English) hoping I could activate it with the OEM key, but I didn't succeed.
When I wanted to re-install the OEM Vista from WinRE I realized I can't access it and then I had a "brilliant" idea that if format the C partition with the Acronis Disc Director it would boot from WinRE. It didn't.
Fortunately Ive burned the recovery discs before. The only problem is that the recovery disc formats the entire HDD and I have data on the second partition I've would like to retrieve.
I tried to install again the retail Vista to backup the data from the second partition (yes, I'm an idiot, I didn't do it before) but it stops after the first reboot. I get a black screen with a low dash blinking.
I really need that data, please help!

    Hi!
I can tell you why you cant install a retail version of Vista by using the product key. This is pretty easy because the key on the bottom side on the notebook belongs to the preinstalled OEM version and cant be used by a retail version.
However, I think the best way to backup your data would be that you put the HDD in an external HDD case and then you can backup your data on another PC or notebook.
Such external HDD cases are not expensive but very useful.
    Bye

  • Cannot find my Satellite L350-10H - external video full HD output

    Hello Everybody.
I have a problem with my satellite L350-10H when I try to attach a second external monitor in full HD.
In fact Im only able to duplicate my Notebook Display with the same resolution (1440 x 900).
The System don't allow me to set a Full HD Resolution for my Samsung External Monitor.
I don't think can be a limitation of the Chipset because I can do that with all my oldest notebook I have at Home.
Now the strange thing is that when I try to search for a driver in the Toshiba website, my model just don't exist !!!
I put the serial number and the website don't recognize the model, then in the list this model don't exist.
It is: *TOSHIBA SATELLITE L350-10H* - OS WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM
Someone have also this model? How I can attach a full hd monitor?

    Hi
First of all, if you would take a look on the Toshiab European driver page, then you will notice that the driver search form does not contain any sub model numbers but series numbers this means you have to check the model number and then could find the right drivers.
As far as I know the notebook Sat L350-10H belongs to PSLD0E series.
You can find the drivers for this notebook if you would choose L350 PSLD0E.
    Easy. Isnt it?
    Now back to your video output;
As far as I know there is a Mobile Intel GL960 Express Chipset.
Ive got the same chipset and I can use the external monitor perfectly.
But I have installed the Intel graphic card driver in fact the preinstalled driver on my notebook didnt contain some resolutions
Therefore I recommend checking the Intel page and to download and install the driver for Mobile Intel GL960 chipset.
After new reboot you should check if you could choose the resolution.

  • Satellite L350 - Access code for the router

    Dear Sirs
I have a Toshiba Satellite L350 running Windows 7 Ultimate. For the first 5 months it remembered the wireless access code for the router. I then installed a BT Home Hub which I subsequently removed and from then on the Windows 7 machine will no longer remember the password.
I have spent hours on the phone with Microsoft to no avail. Can anyone help?

The problem is very simple but the solution is not.
As I said earlier the computer remebered the wirless access code for around 5 months.
I then installed a BT home hub (free from BT) and it worked fine and then I uninstalled it and reverted back to my D-Link router.
From this point on every time I turn on the computer I have to enter the wireless access code to connect to the internet and until I turn off the computer all works fine.
Microsoft have not been able to locate the problem and neither have BT hence this last attempt to try and find the solution.
Thanks for your reply and I look forward to some help.

  • Re: Satellite L350-170 - WiFi stops and starts

    Hello,
I have the Toshiba Satellite L350-170 and it's great. I am running Vista 32-bit and I have had it from Christmas '08.
For a while now, the WiFi will just stop (if I use webcam on msn or something) as if it's just overloaded, then I have to wait a few mins before it comes back on again!
Is there a driver to keep the internet connected? On my taskbar, it says I'm always connected, and when I check on ConfigFree (when i can't use internet, but it's saying I *am* connected.
    Can this be solved?
    Hope you can help!
    Regards,
    James K

    Hi James,
Maybe this problem is caused by the router. You should check the logfile of it. Is the router always connected interruptions?
In this case a firmware update would be advisable and let the ISP check your Internet connection.
Furthermore you can try updating the WLAN driver. The latest version can be downloaded on the Toshiba website.

  • Re: Satellite L350: Where to store the drivers mentioned by Tempro down loading drivers

Can someone please explain where i have to save driver downloads that tempro keeps telling me are needed for my notebook?
When i click save it always comes up with documents but surely this cannot be right.
    Please please help me?
My system is windows home premium and Satellite L350 notebook

Im not using the Tempro software but is there no option for patch changing?
However, if the Tempro saves the files to a definite folder then you could check this folder and could move the drivers to the other area this should not be a big problem
PS: To be honest I dont use this tool because its not necessary for me I mean I dont change any drivers if the notebook is running trouble free I read here many threads and met guys who updated the drivers for non apparent reason and then the problems begun.
I follow this advice; never change a running system ;)

  • Satellite L350-170 display has gone funny pictures

    Hi
i have a Satellite L350-170 but the display has gone funny pictures have started to look like negatives and colours are not the same also and there is like ghost screens underneath my current screen.
I have tried unistalling drivers and reinstalling but its just the same
Any help with this would be appreciated thank you

    Hi
Test the notebook in connection with external monitor.
Check if the same funny pictures would be visible on external monitor.
I think if the same will appear on second monitor, then the issue might be related to graphic card.
In such case the motherboard with the GPU chip should be replaced.

Since this is my secondhand computer, is there any software which can detect the settings and confirm everything? My product details are as below.

Switch models Satellite L350-170 Part Number : PSLD8E-00D008EN Key Features - Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor

    Hi shahchin,
I think you should check this Toshiba document:
[How to change the settings for the integrated webcam if the image is very dark or black |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=59]
Furthermore the microphone is located on near the microphone because its a part of the webcam.
Regarding the picture quality of webcam you could also try reinstalling the webcam driver from Toshiba website.

  • Satellite L350-277 - Which cards are compatible?

Nowhere in the documentation does it tell you which 3 cards are compatible. It is the same size as a PCMCIA slot but that does not work.
Anyone know which 3 cards can be used?

    Thank for the reply.
The 3in1 comes from the PC World website :-
Which says "As well as thoughtful connectivity coming in the form of 3 USB ports, a 3-in-1 card reader and built-in WiFi technology for wireless internet connection, the Toshiba Satellite L350-277 also comes with a built-in VGA webcam for "face-to face chatting."
I had never heard of an ExpressCard before so I looked on e-Bay. It looks like it has a 54 slot, not sure about the 34. Not sure how that would work.
    Anyway - thanks.

  • Recovery disks not working for Satellite L350

I have a Toshiba Satellite L350 which I bought some years ago
Originally it was a vista home premium laptop and I opted for the Toshiba windows 7 upgrade and its been pretty much trouble free .
However recently something went a bit weird and things just were not working well (it would not always log you out and never seemed to shutdown correctly) and various other applications did not run correctly.
After a few uninstalls ,reinstalls, scans and Microsoft patches did nothing I decided to take the plunge and use the recovery disk.
I had bought one from Toshiba when I got the machine originally and had made one myself before the upgrade to windows 7 and one again after.
I still have the windows 7 upgrade dvds so I can apply them after if I had to start back on vista again.
The only other big change has been a RAM upgrade to 4gb - I still have the original RAM if I need it but before all this there were no hardware issues reported and chkdsk was fine also.
So to me it was the o/s that was the problem.
I have now tried all the recovery disks and they all have the same problem reporting that imagex cannot uncompress the second file image as it is corrupt at block 90 I dont have this actual message to hand
    but can update later.
I cant see that Im doing anything wrong as all i do is put the dvd in the drive and restart the laptop with F12 to boot off the recovery DVD and follow the on screen commands.
Have you any reports of such of this previously or am I doing something stupid?
    Thanks

Thats very strange that al recovery discs show the same error message. As far as I know when you start recovery image installation the HDD will be formatted, new partitions created, recovery image copied on second HDD partition and as last step is recovery image installation.
    >I had bought one from Toshiba when I got the machine originally and had made one myself before the upgrade to windows 7...
Have you tested both of them in the past?
Generally speaking all you do is right. In my opinion the problem can be recovery image itself or maybe HDD has some failure on certain sectors.
If you can obtain second HDD somewhere exchange it, set BIOS to default settings and test recovery installation again.

  • My Satellite L350 keeps switching off and then start up again.

Satellite L350 keeps switching off and then start up again.
The fan is free from dust. I reinstalled Windows
There is a new Battery for 1 year
If the laptop is off, the battery can be charged. The laptop is operating normally on battery.
From the moment that the AC adapter is connected, the computer turns off.
When I use the computer without a battery but with the AC adapter, the computer shuts down. Test with another AC adapter, the computer turns off.
Could it be that the cable between the motherboard and the DC jack is causing the problem whether this is unlikely ?
Anyone have an idea to help me with this problem ?

    Dr. Lamp,
Shut down is not always at the same point. In the beginning this happened from time to time and than more frequently. If i start up the computer now with the AC adapter connected than he doesn't start up completely. He shuts down and reboot or blocked.
To answer your question, I am able to enter the BIOS settings.
I bought the Yannec battery here:
I summarize the tests that I did together:
Loading battery when computer is off = yes
Running applications only with battery = yes
With AC adapter connected = computer shut down and reboot
Without battery, only with AC adapter connected = shut down and reboot
With other AC adapter = shut down and reboot
If it is a problem of the motherboard is it not possible that it can be repaired rather than replaced by a new one?
    Many thanks for your patience

  • Satellite L350-20G powers down during boot up

My Satellite L350-20G starts to boot up and after 10 seconds powers off.
    Also it refuses to charge.
We have exchanged fully charged battery packs with an identical model and same problem.

I have the same problem with my Toshiba L series laptop
I check the output DC voltage of the battery, it reads 10.8 Volts, 4000mAh Model No. PA35346-1BA5
The DC output voltage of the AC/DC adapter, reads 19 volts at 3,95 amperes Model ADP-75SB BB
i think the adapter output voltage is not compatible with voltage requirement of battery of the laptop.
Please check your battery and ac/dc adapter ratings which affects the battery life, maybe there is an over voltage limit switch installed on the motherboard which keeps the unit turning off whenever the ac/dc adapter is connected due to higher voltage rating.
I think the allowable output voltage requirement of the AC/DC adapter should only be up to 12Volts DC to minimize the heat produced during charging period.
