Satellite L350D - How to recover Windows?

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my L350D and I removed Windows Vista (and all of my files) by mistake..There was not a windows recovery cd rom when i bought the L350D. What should i do to recover windows vista? Is there any way to have Windows Vista again on my computer without buying the software for a second time? Thank you very much

Hey,
> There was not a windows recovery cd rom
Yes because you have to create this disk yourself using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disk creator but everything about this is mentioned in your user manual.
> What should i do to recover windows vista?
There is only one way to restore the original settings from Toshiba: Its Toshiba recovery disk and if you dont have it you can order it here:

I have a problem, recovery process crashed almost at the end and when i restart computer i cannot get to the windows (missing files). I installed windows but i didn't have any toshiba utilities for recovery (only those files on 2nd partitions: hdd recovery). And here is my question, how can i recover my system from that files without any toshiba utilities? Can i download them or something? What can i do to restore it, because toshiba recovery media is, i think not available. And if it's not so how can i do? My warranty for laptop expired.

You should order the recovery discs from Toshiba.
Toshiba Europe Backup Media Online Shop
After you have restored the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents, you should have the recovery utilities and partitions. See the A350 User's Manual (attached) for how to recover after that.

  • How to recover Windows Vista on Satellite A210?

My friend bought Thoshiba Satellite A210. The machine is running slow, so he wants to reinstall Vista.
Can we recover it from hard drive?
He does not have any CD coming with the laptop.
    Thanks.

The A210 was definitely delivered with the Toshiba Recovery DVD which would help you to get the notebook back to the factory settings.
As far as I know the A210 was not equipped with the HDD Recovery option and therefore the Recovery DVD should be in the package.
If you dont have the Recovery DVD anymore, then you could order it here:

I'd like to recover my Toshiba Satellite C660 to it's original state.
I did not create any DVDs at startup.
On the D: partition there is an 11GB folder called HDDrecovery.
When I press F8 at startup I do not see any option to use them.
does anyone know how I can recover? The option circled in red is not available.

  • Satellite A300 - How to get Windows 7 recovery disk?

    Hello!
I have Satellite A300 with windows vista recovery disc and I want to upgrade to windows 7! how can I get one?
    how much does it costs?

    Hi
The upgrade is pretty easy: Just purchase a Microsoft update disk and then you can update Vista to Windows 7 Thats all!
But if you bought your notebook from June 26, 2009 to January 31, 2010 you can order a Windows 7 upgrade disk directly:

    Hi
I will try to help you.
    > 1 Id like to reinstall vista without formatting D partition (where my data is)
    >Find this guide for HDD recovery procedure
    >http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
    >What steps should I follow?
As far as I know on second HDD partition in folder HDDRecovery is saved recovery image. When you start HDD recovery installation (F8 at start-up) recovery image from partition D will be installed on partition C. In this case partition D will not be deleted. Just partition C will be formatted before recovery image installation starts.
Just use F8 option and go to repair my computer. Just follow menu on the screen and choose option Recovery of factory default software.
    > 2 If HDD is defective, how can I re-install supplied OS (vista) to a new HDD ?
After reading this question I see you didnt read users manuals document. You should create recovery media (recovery DVD) and this recovery DVD you can use for recovery image installation if there is some problem with HDD or you want to install original recovery image on new HDD.
    > 3 Unrelated to the above, can I update to Windows 7 (clean install) 32 or 64bit version?
Of course you can do this. Visit please Toshiba download page on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and check if all drivers, tools and utilities are available there. Of course before you do this, create recovery DVD.
If you have more questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite A110 - How to reinstall Windows XP?

    Hi,
I have a very serious problem. I had to format my hard drive, and now, I want to reinstall Windows XP OS on my machine. The serial key is written under my keyboard, but I don't know how to specify it during the installation process.
Can i write an email to Toshiba asking for a new DVD copy of the OS?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dani

    Hi
Im a little bit confused now. Why do you want a new installation disk if you dont know how to use the product key on the bottom side?
Do you have a XP disk at the moment?
The product key on the bottom side of the notebook cant be used with a normal XP installation disk that you can buy in every computer shop. This is an OEM key and belongs to the preinstalled XP version.
So you can ask an authorized service provider for a new recovery disk or you buy a normal XP disk but then you have to use the product key that is delivered with the XP disk.

  • How to recover windows data on an external hard drive formatted in time capsule

    Hi there,
    In desperate of some help.
I took a windows external hard which had data on it from a windows pc.
Plugged it into my Mac pro 13 and opened Time Machine. Time Machine then mentioned something along the lines of "erase - partion - cannot backup unless erase". It was not in that context but those words and phrases were mentioned. So without thinking i clicked erase.
What happened next was a newly formatted external hard for time machine back up appeared. It actually changed names from "untitled" to "Time Machine Back ups"
Apparently what i now need to do is:
Step 1) Format hard drive back to NTFS
Step 2) Recover the data that was on the hard drive.
What i tried to do is i downloaded software called StellarPhoenixMacDataRecovery and did an advance scan which took about 5 hours. The only info it recovered was what seemed to be system files from the new format. Approx 20mb in size. The data i lost was approx 100gb in size.
Please tell me there is a way to achieve step one and two without having a PHD in computer science and programming or parting ways with my hard earned cash?
    Much appreciated

    Hi Loner,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have located the program and will give it a try.
    Cheers.

  • How to Recover Window 7 Booting after a Yosemite 10.10.2 Reload

I was working with Apple Technicians to solve a problem that showed up with Yosemite 10.10.2 . They finally gave up and asked me to reload the hard drive with OS X 9. . I reloaded using Time Machine backups. Everything worked and I let Apples software update program update the operating system to 10.10.2 . In the process of reloading, I lost the ability to boot to Windows 7. The window icon never comes up when you boot with the option key depressed.
The bootcamp partition shows on the desk top and the files are apparently good. My question is ' Is there a way to recover booting to Windows without destroying the bootcamp partition?'
    Thanks

If you can post the output of the following Terminal commands, a prognosis can be provided.
    diskutil list
    diskutil cs list
sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0
    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0
For "sudo" commands, you will be prompted for your password, which will not be echoed back. "sudo" will also warn about improper usage and potential data loss resulting from such "abuse".

  • Satellite L350D PSLE8E Stuck on windows 7 startup screen

HELP! can't get the computer to go pass the Window 7 startup screen. Just upgraded from Vista to 64bit Windows 7.....bad idea please any help?

    Hey,
It seems that something went wrong during upgrade process I agree with Silas: You should try to use the HDD recovery or take Toshiba recovery disk to restore factory settings where everything will work properly again.
Last but not least let me give you a word of advice: If you want Windows 7 instead Vista, I would try a new and clean installation (no upgrade). I dont have good experience with upgraded OS. Usually new installation works as best.

  • How to recover windows 8 to HP Spectre xt15?

    Hp spectre xt15 15-4011nr
i put a 256gb Samsung 840 pro ssd to replace the original hard drive.
Also, I ordered a recovery media from HP.
i started the recovery with power cord plugged in, and it went through most of it. after the restoring processed, it started to install software. After that, it would restart and tell me the recovery failed.
    any thoughts?
PS:I tried the recovery 3 times, and on the fourth time I removed the 32gb ssd that came with the computer, so the whole 32gb ssd+500gb hdd hybriis was removed.

Hey, try this. Put your new 256 SSD back in your computer and then use your recovery DVD's, but before you boot the recovery DVD's go into your BIOS and change the date from 2013 to 2012. If you change the date your recovery should finish and say completed at the end. I know it sounds weird, but just try it. I have the same model computer as you do with a 128GB SSD and ended up with an incomplete recovery every time. Nobody could help me. I read about changing the date and it worked. Let me know!

  • On an iMac backing up with Time Capsule -- several Firefox windows open w/tabs -- Firefox froze -- had to force quit. In the past the various windows and tabs reappeared on restarted Firefox. Not this time. How to recover windows and tabs.?

I think what I have written (above) sums up my problem. I can't think of anything to add.

When a new bookmark is added to one "device", Sync immediately sends that change to the Sync Server. And if you are watching a different "device" you should see the newly saved bookmark almost immediately. ''At least I have seen it happen that fast when Syncing between two Profiles on my desktop PC and I had both Profiles running and Tiled vertically, with the Bookmarks Sidebar open.''
Keep in mind that internet congestion and Sync Serve load may slow then seemingly "immediate" action down a bit.
As far as '''Tab''' Sync goes, open Tabs are Sync'd to the Server as Firefox is closed. I'm not sure, but I believe '''Tab History''' is Sync'd to the Server as each tab is closed.
I'm not sure if a complete Tab History is Sync'd to a tablet device, or if like on a mobile phone the last 25 or so URL's are sync'd as "history" to the mobile device.
Sorry, I can't advise you on whether to purge your data or to create another Sync account, I have never used those features. I am surprised that you don't have another email account to use to set up a 2nd account; it isn't that hard to create another email account at Gmail.

  • Satellite A40-210 - How to recover XP but disk turns out to run Windows 98?

Ok, I've got a dinausour: Satellite A40-210 But hey, it ran just fine until an antivirus wiped out something crucial (or at least that's what I think), as Windows is no longer able to startup.
Now the error is given: system32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys is unavailable or broken.
I still got my recovery-disks (all 3 of them)
    1: tools&utilities CD-Rom
    2:product recovery CD-Rom 1
    3:product recovery CD-Rom 2
Nr 1 is not responding as reboot and the Product recovery CD-Rom 1 turns out to "recover" Windows 98.
Thing is, I would like to recover at least photos and some documents and whenever possible: get to use it again with all the programes etc that were installed on the hard-disk...
    What/how to do this?
As the message of '98 frightens me: this will delete all previous info on disk.
    Help, please!

If moving the hard drive to an external enclosure is not convenient, it should be possible to use a Linux live CD to find your files and transfer them to a USB drive.
I managed this with an old laptop whose Windows 2000 installation stopped working. In that instance, it was simply a matter of booting from a Linux live CD (I used Puppy Linux, as it has modest RAM demands). Once the Linux system was up and running in RAM, it allowed me to mount the Windows partition, and to read the files and photos I wanted to recover. It also allowed me copy those files to a USB flash drive.
Easier than I expected. And meant that, with my date safely copied elsewhere, I could relax and try to repair/reinstall the Windows system.

    Hello
As far as I know your notebook was delivered with HDD recovery image. That means it is saved on second HDD partition. If you want to have original state again (factory state), install OS again using HDD recovery procedure. How to do this you can read in http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
In the whole story I see one problem. Notebook is delivered with HDD recovery and I believe it was Win7 64bit only. When one other OS version is installed you will lose HDD recovery option and OS can be installed with recovery DVD only.
    So my questions to you:
Can you start HDD recovery procedure as described in Toshiba document?
Have you created recovery DVD following instruction described in users manuals?
