Satellite L355 won't trun on at all even with power

Hi,
my Satellite L355 won't turn on at all. The lights indicating it's getting power from both the battery and the power cord are on, but the actual light indicating start-up won't go on--it's not in sleep mode, it's just off. I took the battery out and re-installed it several times and also took the hard drive out and re-installed.
Could it be the motherboard?
Any insight is appreciated--thanks!

Remove the battery and try to start notebook with AC power supply only.
If nothing happens I m afraid you need professional help by authorized Toshiba service provider.
Power supply electronic placed on the mainboard is probably defective.

Well, after another call with Apple support and the engineers, no success. After spending over 20 hours trying to debug this, I give up. Apple was basically fishing for a solution with trial-and-error settings on the iphone. Then they wanted me to plug in software to log my iphone connections to the router, etc, etc., etc., at which point I decided I no longer wanted to participate in their testing process and will simply return the router.
25 hours of my life I'll never get back.
Big bummer, and frustrating for all the obvious reasons.

Macbook Pro won't wake up even with power adapter connected

If I use my Macbook to the point where the battery completely die, it will not power up again even with the power adapter connected. It takes about 15-20 minutes of charging before it will wake up again. It seems as though it can't draw power directly from the adaptor, but must wait until the battery is sufficiently charged, and draw power from the battery. I can't imagine this is a design decision. Any help?

Part of this time may involve attempting to read a damaged sleep image file, bewlatbrutha.
You should note, too that the batteries in these computers have a built in microprocessor of their own to try to prevent them from being damaged by discharging too deeply. If you discharge to the point where even the battery's own processor has to shut down you may never be able to resurrect your battery without outside help (and sometimes not even then). Almost all Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion batteries (regardless of what they are fitted to) have this sort of protection. The battery has to have a certain minimum charge at all time to keep its own processor running.
Even without reaching this point it is not good for Lithium batteries to be regularly discharged to the point where the computer has to sleep or shut down. You risk severely shortened battery life if you do this regularly.

have you tried resetting the device by holding the home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds?
Does anything whatsoever, appear on screen?

Itunes won't work anymore...even with reinstall

Hello everybody, I hope you can help. I am working from a laptop which had itunes installed AND working with no problems for more than a year. All of a sudden itunes won't load. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, done a system restore...all to no avail. Can ANYBODY shed light on this? The message I get when I try to open itunes says "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" I am hoping some of you have had this problem and have a workable solution. Thanks!

Rachyl's right about checking for malware. but you might also have some damage to your existing QuickTime caused by malware. (sometimes i've seen this message show up after people install Ace Mega Codec Packs too ... that does funny things to QT 7.0.3 and 7.0.4.)
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?

Satellite P50t-A - Forced hibernation even with power connected

I have a Satellite P50t-A where the battery appears to be failing. It is reading 0% and the charger is periodically charger is turning on and off. When it stops charging (about every 5 mins), the computer run for a period then enters forcefully enters hiberation. This hiberation occurs eveen when the power is connected. Why is it entering hiberation even when the power is connected? Why does battery status has precedence over a stable power?
I have ordered a new battery and waiting for its arrival. In the interim, how to force the laptop to run on power (ignore the battery status)? If I open up the laptop and remove the battery, will it run with the power connected and the battery removed?

Update. Disassmebled laptop and disconnected the battery. It now powers up now and the battery monitor reports "no battery detected". After running it for a period, the forced hiberation no longer occurs.

Firefox won't update on my system, even with firewall & antivirus switched off - help ?

OS : Windows 7 - 64bit, with antivirus (Bitdefender).
Downloaded update from you website (version 25.01), switched off Windows firewall, bitdefender firewall & antivirus. Run 25.01.exe - it partly updates (3/4 green bar), then bombs out.
Firefox version currently running on my system is 22.
If I try to update from your pull-down meny "Help" then "about Firefox", after downloading the update, get message that I need to restart Firefox to finalise update, but the process also gets blocked.
Opening Firefox, I'm still on version 22
Hope you can point out how I can overcome this ?

Updated Firefox but add-ons download page won't see my Firefox browser even with it set as default.

I have updated my Firefox browser to current. When attempting to download an add-on, I get the popup screen requesting for me to download Firefox browser. I have redownloaded it 4 times. Still no luck. Firefox is set as default. Add-ons still give me this message: "To install ... and thousands of other Firefox add-ons, get Firefox, a free and open web browser from Mozilla. Notebook won't start(kw831ua#aba)cnf81347bp even with recovery disks

i have a compaq presario f762nr notebook when i start the computer it is a black screen with the underscore cursor flashing and the goes to the start up screen to choose esc,f1,f2,f9,f10,f11. when trying to look at the bios i am asked for a password why ? I have tried the recovery disk that i sent for but does not seem to help. it won't let me start the system recovery using f11. what else can i try?

HT1363 My ipod touch 32GB keeps clicking and won't turn on or charge even though power is getting to it. The screen shows a sad face ipod.

We have an ipod classic with wheel. It keeps saying low battery even though I have had it charging for ages. It also makes this clicking sound but refuses to do anything else. I can't get any screen to show except a sad face ipod and the "low battery" screen. I have tried to do the restart option but it makes no difference. Help!

AppleTV won't find my asleep computers,even with "wake for network access" turned on

I've read about this a little on these forums, but haven't found the solution yet.
My computer has "wake for network access" turned on. My AppleTV will not see my shared iTunes library, not until I wake up the computer by hand.
The only other part of the equation is the FiOS router that I use, which is model number: MI424-WR.
Has anyone come up with a guaranteed solution to this problem? Very annoying. Just bought the AppleTV, and think it's otherwise great. This flaw is just unacceptable. If I have to modify my router somehow, I'd be happy to hear about it... as I don't have any problem doing those kinds of things.

OK, I got an Airport Extreme, but still having issues.
Why would I need to plug the AppleTV into an Ethernet cable? It doesn't have any sleep issues... it just can't wake up my Macs. I thought that would be possible.
In any case, I can't connect my AppleTV to Ethernet... no ethernet near my television....

Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

MBP won't turn on at all...

My wife's Macbook Pro has been overheating recently. Additionally, the battery will charge until the power adapter is green and it says it has a full charge, but within minutes of unplugging it, the computer is dead. We figured she had a bad battery or whatever, but now — out of the blue — the computer won't turn on at all. The power adapter is orange, but it randomly flashes green really fast. The power light on the battery stays at one cell.
We can't get it to turn on, regardless of what we do. Help?

Alright, we reset the system management controller by unplugging, taking out the battery, holding power for 5 seconds and turning back on, and that got it back on. We checked the health of her battery on the Apple menu and it says her battery is in good condition, which was surprising. I'm glad to know about the SMC reset if for no other reason than future reference, but surely it can't be a good thing to have to do that every time we want to turn the computer on...
