You're in luck!
Your model is in part-number family PSLE8U, which corresponds to the European part-number family PSLE8E.
Go to the European download site and look up the Satellite L350D with Short Model No. PSLE8E.
When you filter for Windows XP, you'll find 32 entries.

  • Can't start after bios upgrade (Satellite L355D-S7815)

    Hello,
I have Satellite L355D-S7815 with VIsta.
Just tried to upgrade bios from 1.4 to 1.8 , as per instructions of preparing for Win 7 upgrade. Downloaded required files from TOshiba site, then run upgrade, picked to do it from Windows. After it finished and restarted ,laptop is not coming up.Just stays black screen, noting happens, doesn't boot, no messages nothing comes up.
I've tried to recover bios from a flash drive. Copy .fd file , renamed to "BIOS.fd", then restarted holding FN and F keys, but it still doesn't do anything.
Can anyone have any suggestions how else I could do it?
For example what's a trick to do it from a CD (I can hear that CD kind of starts up when I turn power on), but what would be the key combination to force it to load bios from a cd?
    thanks in advance.

  • Laptop to TV-Satellite L355D-S7815

Sorry to be so far behind everyone, but it I just bought a new TV and it has a VGA imput. I think I can connect my laptop to the TV using this, but how do I get sound? Can anyone help? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've got an L355D-S7809, which is the same as yours except the processor (Intel vs AMD).  I could be wrong, but I believe the only way to get sound to your TV is via your laptop's headphone output jack.  You can run a cable from the laptop to the input on the TV.
    Something similar to this:

  • USB plugs are dead, Satellite L355D PSLE8U-00M00WB

    I have a
    TOSHIBA Satellite L355D PSLE8U-00M00WB
    System Serial Number: XXXXXXXXX
    Enclosure Type: Notebook
I got from a family member, everything is fine on the pc. but the USB plugs are dead.
the last thing plugged into them was an Android phone, after googling. seems they can kill the usbs on some pcs.
some have fixed the issue by doing a 5v fix to "jumpstart" it back. but i'd rather not, since I dont even know how to acquire the 5v battery.
windows 7 says nothing is wrong with all usb in device manager.
removing and rebooting all usb items in device, to have windows reinstall, does nothing.
i dont know what to do...i want a mouse. attched is the log of belarc advisor. i want to be able to type, without this **bleep** pad picking up the slightest thumb movement thinking its my doing.
edit, after doing a search here. it seems only factory is left option unless I get a...express or pcmcia... can a tech guy who knows, tell me what one I need. a search on google says my 355D is express. http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-l355d-s7815/4507-3121_7-33155829.html can i get a confirm before i buy?

First, putting your full model number in your post, which you have done, is a good thing. But, you should never put your serial number on this public forum. This is not a formal Toshiba Support site, but a peer support forum. We're all just users and other Toshiba owners. Edit your original post and remove your serial number.
You've probably done it, but have you made sure the USB ports are enabled in your BIOS?  If not, on a restart, press the F2 key as soon as you see the Toshiba logo to enter the BIOS Setup, surf for your USB ports, make sure they're enabled, save & exit.
If that hasn't helped, click on the 'Start' button, type in 'sys' and click on 'System Information', look for 'BIOS Version/Date'. If you do not have BIOS version 1.80, download this file to to your desktop, after a fresh restart double click on the file to begin the BIOS update, follow the directions in the link:
ACPI Flash BIOS version 1.80 for Satellite/SatPro L305D/L355D
    Toshiba BIOS Update Instructions
No joy? Next, you mention that you are using Windows 7, but you don't mention whether you are using the 64bit or 32bit edition of Win7, this could be important. But, from what I can see, it appears you may be using Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit edition.
Regardless, your system originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit edition, and is only capable of using 4MB of RAM maximum. Given this, you should probably be using the 32bit version of Win7, as there is no benefit to using the 64bit version, with a 4MB maximum RAM limit.
Next, as it sounds like you have already tried deleting all USB items in Device Manager, and then rediscovering them on reboot. So, let's try to reload your core drivers: the chipset, display & sound drivers. The chipset drivers control the USB ports. You should only be using hardware drivers supplied by Toshiba for your system, as Toshiba notebooks are very finicky about use the their own drivers, not those from Windows Update, etc.
As you have an AMD processor, AMD chipset & AMD/ATI display card, the chipset & display drivers are included in one package. Download to your desktop & double click on each of these files to reinstall them in this order:
    AMD/ATI Display & Chipset Driver for Windows 7 (32/64)
Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 7 (32bit/64bit)
Reboot after installing each the above. Try your ports again.
Please let us know what happens.
    Good luck
    Mike

  • How to connect Satellite L355D to a TV?

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L355D laptop and I would like to watch my computer movies on my TV.
Unfortunately, I do not know what cables do I need to be able to do it?
Any help will be appreciated! Thank you!

It seems to be that your notebook has no separate Video-out port but RGB only. This port is there if you want to connect external monitor.
Anyway, as far as I know, you can buy RGB adapter. I don't know which port you want to use on your TV but the best thing you can do is to visit TV store. Talk with dealers and explain what you want to do. they will give you the right adapter.

  • Satellite L355D-S7825 - Vista - Complete Restore

I purchased a Satellite L355D-S7825 a few years ago and now want to give it to my mother, but want to format or restore to factory settings first.  It did not come with any discs, and during my attempts I thought I saw a recovery partion, but when I go through the steps found googling, the closest I can come is "Complete PC Restore", but when I select that it says "no backup image found".
How can I restore my Satellite L355D-S7825 (on Vista) to factory settings?

Yes, if you no longer have the recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here
For instructions, see the section Hard Disk Drive Recovery using the Recovery media, which begins on p. 66 of this User's Guide.

  • Satellite L355D-S7825 went dark

I was working on my computer when, all of a sudden, my Satellite L355D-S7825 Toshiba laptop abruptly went dark and shut down, and now it won't power up again. It doesn't make any sound when I try to turn it up. One thing I do notice is that whenever I press the Start button the batteryindicator light blinks six times and then stops. The light blinks with or without the power cord. The unit was plugged in when it suddenly stopped working and went dark. Can anyone help me!!!

Sir, here is some tips. Remove the battery and AC adapter of your laptop then press power button for 10 sec. After that put on the battery and adapter. Boot up your system. If it didn't work call (800) 457-7777 (toll-free) or (949) 859-4273. Good luck.

  • Satellite L355D won't boot

I recently bought a refurbished Satellite L355D-S7825.  It arrived about five days ago, and until today there have been no problems with it.
This morning, it worked.  I put it in sleep mode when I left the computer, and when I came back it would not resume Windows.  I pressed and held the power button to turn it off, and then attempted to start the computer again.  No response.
When I press the power button, it sounds like the computer is switching on, the lights come on, and the fan starts running. Then it stops doing anything.  The screen never displays anything, not even the Toshiba logo.  I have since tried turning it on with and without the battery (which is fully charged) and with and without the power cable.  It does not appear to be a power issue.
I do not have a CD to boot from, however my tech-savvy father tried his and the computer did not seem to be able to find the disk in order to start up.
The computer is new, so I have installed some software on it recently, but I have done nothing with the system itself or the hardware.
I'm leaving to go overseas in about 10 days and need to take the computer with me - and between now and then it's holidays, which is going to make it difficult to get the computer fixed if I have to go through a repair center.  So any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

When you turn the laptop does the display flash once?  If you look closely can you see a very faint picture in the background.  If you can then your backlight is out and you will need to send it in for repair.  You can also plug in your desktop monitor and then turn your laptop on to see if it is a backlight/display problem.

  • Satellite L355D-S7901 Won't Boot Up

    Hi There,
I hope someone can help me.....I have a Satellite L355D-S7901 that will not boot up when I turn it on.
I get a message that the     \windows\system32\drivers\tcpip.sys   file is missing or corrupt.
It tells me to insert my OS disk and select repair....  I bought the laptop at Best Buy about 15 months ago and Vista was preloaded.  It never came with any disks at all.  I have a product key on the bottom of the computer but no disk.
My son was online earlier playing games.....I'm not sure virus????   I am running an up to date anti-virus
Any suggestions would be great....I don't know how long this old dinosaur will last (desktop PC 10 yrs old and still working)
    Thanks

Possibly, but you'll more than likely need to do it by one of two methods.
Boot to a Linux Live CD and use it to backup all of your data to an external hard drive, usb thumb drive(s), or over a network to another computer.
Take the drive out of the laptop and connect it to a different computer via a USB adaptor or an external hard drive enclosure to retrieve whatever files you can.
If neither of those options work you'll probably need to send it to a data recovery service to have the data recovered, but that can cost over a thousand dollars depending on the amount of damage to the hard drive.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

My girlfriend spilled a drink on her laptop, the L355D-S7820, and the screen wouldn't turn on, etc. I got in it and cleaned out the coke, but now it won't boot.
The toshiba logo comes up, but after that it will give all the boot options, safe mode, etc, but i can't boot and it appears to freeze up, especially if i try and repair it through the system repair, and give a long chain of beeps that never end.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7901 Bios update Pc wont boot

I recently downloaded a bios file for my laptop form the support site to reinstall my bios, i made a boot disk from the image and restarted my PC, the bios screen opened and appeared to be working, but my PC shut down during the process and now when I hit the power button the sceen doesn't turn on but the CPU fan and indicator lite will turn on, also i attempted to put the bios image disk in after this to see if it might run even tho the bios appear to be damaged since it acts like it reads from the rom, but no luck. Any suggestions would be great I love my satellite and would hate for the bios to be such an issue.

Try taking the battery out and disconnecting the power from it.
Then hit the pwer button to make sure the capacitors are discharged.
Then reconnect the power and battery and see if it will post.  I have seen that work on a few occasions.

  • Satellite L355D-S7829 went semi-dead

Hello. My satellite will power-on, make the familiar sound, but hard drive light does not come on and screen stays black.
In other words, it does not boot. Fan runs. I thought it might be hard drive but I switched an extra one in (actually it was the original OEM--I replaced it two years ago for a bigger drive), but same thing. Does it sound like motherboard? I am thinking that way...but could it be a RAM stick went bad?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Carl

if your screen stays totally black, then I would say that it is your motherboard.  Luckily, you can get a used motherboard on eBay for fairly cheap for your system.  Just remove the RAM sticks, and the part number is located on a sticker under the RAM on the motherboard.

  • Satellite L355D - No sound after upgrade to Win 7

I have downloaded all of the drivers from Toshiba, upgraded the BIOS, and still nothing.
I get sound from headphones, but not the speakers. Volume level shows activity, I can see the ReakTek High - Def Audio as installed and Windows says it's working proplely...and yet...nothing. Sound was working fine on Vista before the upgrade, so I know the speakers are good.
I have checked running services, and audio is running and working, as well. Every solution I have found online gives no results! Ack!
I'm going nuts trying to figure this out! Any ideas?!

Can you give me your model-part number as well? It should be on the label on the bottom as well and begin with a 'P'.
    Did you reinstall these?
    Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 7 (32/64)(v6.0.1.5904; 09-04-2009; 69.55M)
    Toshiba Speech System(v1.00.2520; 11-10-2009; 21.35M)
Toshiba Value Added Package for Windows Vista/7 (64)(v1.2.33_64; 11-09-2009; 45.79M)
On the other hand, maybe upgrading to Windows 7 was a coincidence. Sometimes the computer acts as if headphones are always connected if there's a problem with the port itself. Try playing audio while removing and reinserting the headphones repeatedly, even 10 or 20 times to see if the speakers will begin to work. Also, check that the ports not loose and that there's no foreign object inside the port.

  • Satellite L355D-S7901 (PSLE8U-02P01D) s/n ********* - Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit

Long story short; back in February of last year, some "Shop" downstate replaced the HDD in this unit, and evidently installed from a "Master" disk (Non-tosh); failed to install the Tosh model specific drivers, and didn't dupe the old HDD (which was apparently only failing, not yet failed), so no Recovery partition or recover disks, either home-made or Tosh.
First question (since Toshibas phone support may as well not exist, and the Recovery set purchasing page doesn't provide answers until AFTER the purchase); how fast is expidited fulfillment within CONUS?
Q2:  Is there a machine/model specific list of the latest drivers/utilities/Apps?
The support page is kludgy at best and seems to list ALL drivers since day one for all variations of a given model.  I'd rather not spend the time weeding through ALL of them to find just those that apply.
I've salvaged all of the data, and I'm pig-headedly trying to clean this beast up and replace corrupted files, but failing the ability to do an "in-place upgrade" for repair purposes (as in XP), it may come to doing a fresh install.
This individual has to head back off to her university by month's end, so I'm up against it without the Recovery set.
    TIA!

What are you upgrading to/from? As you say, you have a store bought Windows Vista install disk(s). Also, it appears as if you have Vista OS already on the laptop. Maybe I'm missing something.
The existing installation of Vista Home Premium SP2 on the HDD that is mostly functional needs some repairs and "sfc /scannow" can't do those repairs because the recovery partition was not recreated when some putz replaced the HDD nearly a year and a half ago.
It's not truly an "upgrade" as such; that's just the term used.
I'm wanting to do what's known as an "in-place upgrade"; essentially, it simply replaces the Windows files without affecting your existing applications or data, at least that's how it worked with previous versions of Windows.
You're simply directing it to upgrade your Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit to Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit, repairing itself along the way.
You then need to do all Windows updates that succeeded the printing of THAT DVD and reregister, but that's a minor nuisance.
From the image you have provided, it appears as if the Vista installation disk does not recognize the hd on the laptop, and is asking for a driver so it can detect it.
Precisely!  I need to know what the name of that driver for this particular model Toshiba is so that I can download it, feed it to that prompt, and proceed from there, but the driver d/l page for this Tosh doesn't appear to list anything specifically for the AHCI controller (at least nothing that I can discern).
What happens if you have the Vista install disk in the drive and you start your laptop? You can use the Windows install disk to do a repair (is that what you are trying to do?).
That will supplant the current installation, not repair it!  All of the existing data, settings, and applications will be erased.  You can only perform an "in-place upgrade" from within Windows.
