Satellite L450D wont boot up

Hi
my satellite L450D-11X suddenly will not boot up,when i power it on the fan runns for about 3 seconds and the green led at the front comes on then goes out after 5 seconds,
with the power plugged in the green light stays on and the amber light stays on but same result the laptop will not power up
I have tried connecting to ext monitor..no luck also i tried holding zero while powering up..no joy.
I get no display or anything when i power up and nothing happens,, any help much appreciated..steve

Hi
If you cannot power up the unit, then its definitely a hardware related issue.
My notebook didnt boot up because of the faulty RAM.
But of course, there could be other issue which is not related to memory
Im not sure if buying a new RAM is a option for you only to test the RAM because nobody can say if its really a RAM problem so maybe you should visit an notebook technician downtown who could check this for you
Then you will be 100 % sure what's wrong here...

    Hi guys
Right here go's , I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D which would not boot up in fact nothing except the green power on light, so I decided to strip it down to have a look after removing the keyboard & power switch ribbon cable & everything else I just thought I would reconnect the power cable without screwing anything back together & lo & behold the fan started to spin but only for 5 secs, the cdrom made the normal sounds I got another green light showing & the battery light came on.
But NO DISPLY never even tried to boot from the hard drive? Anyway I screwed it all back together & tried to power it up but I was back to square one nothing except again the first green light.
So I stripped it down again & attached power ribbon & I was back to lights , cd rom, fan.
I have left it at that just wondered if anyone can tell me what the fault is plz?
    Cheers Guys

    Hi ritzema123,
Have you tried an external monitor? Probably only the internal monitor is defective and so you dont see picture. Its worth a try.
Also disconnect the AC/DC adapter and remove the battery. Then wait at least for one hour and then connect both devices again. Try to start your notebook now and check what happens.
In worst case you need professional help from an authorized service provider because it looks like a hardware malfunction. Is your notebook under warranty? In such case the repair would be for free. :)

  • Satellite L300 wont boot up

Hi,  I have a Satellite L300 Laptop which since i dropped it ,  wont boot up i have tried the built in recovery but it stops with "Windows cannot recover Master file table".  It is running Vista , does any one know how i can reboot my laptop as at the moment it starts then i get a blank screen and nothing .
       Cheers  Doug

You more than likely damaged the hard drive when you dropped it.  See if it will boot to a CD or DVD.  If it does you need to test the hard drive to see if it is usable or not.
To test the hard drive determine what brand of hard drive you have.  You can check the Bios/Setup to find out.  Go to that manufacturer's support site and download their Self Booting Diagnostic CD ISO image, create the CD using the Burn From Image option (see http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm for more information on doing this), then boot to it and run the most exhaustive tests available.  If you have a Toshiba drive you will need to use the Hitachi Drive Fitness Test as Toshiba doesn't supply their own. http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Satellite A300 wont boot up

    Hi guys
Im overseas atm, so I really want to try and resolve this problem by myself.
Ok I was watching a movie yesterday and as it ended the laptop locked up, it wouldnt let me ctr, alt, del nothing....
So I waited a few mins and tried again to ctr, alt, del again still frozen. SO I hit the power button for a few seconds and shut it down that way. When it rebooted I chose safe mode but when I was prompted for my password the keyboard wouldnt work so I couldnt type it in.
I had to use my external mouse and shut it down from the power option.
The next time it rebooted i chose normal mode but it has been sitting on the vista screen just before the password box pops up for hours.
Is there anything i can do guys???
    Thanx John

    Hi Akuma,
I tried what you said but to no avail.
After it restarted it got stuck on the Vista screen again, after about 20 mins I gave up.
I tried safe boot, restoring to previously saved point.
Nothing works it just wont boot up, one minute is was working fine the next its dead.
Toshiba said to do a system restore or something like that which basically takes it back to when it was brand new, so I loose everything.....

  • Satellite A30 wont boot up and is stuck on "exiting PXE ROM"

A30 wont boot up and is stuck on a loop
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
I dont have recovery discs and bios does not allow to turn off any relevant settings.

The error message PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable appears because the notebook tries to boot from the LAN.
There could be a different reason why the notebook doesnt boot from the HDD or from another source.
Firstly the wrong booting order could prevent the notebook from HDD booting.
Secondly the missing HDD or an HDD malfunction could cause this issue.
You should definitely try to access the BIOS pressing the F2 button immediately after notebook starting. There you should check if the HDD was recognized.
If not, then I recommend replacing the HDD and to reinstall the OS.
    Best regards

  • Satellite A300 wont boot

    Hello forum members,
I have had many problems with my Toshiba Satellite A300 for some time. I had found the solution of one of the problems through this forum but right now the problem I am facing; I cant find the solution for the problem.
When I press the power on button, the laptop just blinks (the fan runs , then stops , like it gets power pulse. the satellite sign on the left side of the laptop blinks and laptop shuts down, then laptop itself tries to boot but this goes on and on for long time. It finally boots (not really specific time when it boots , sometimes after 1 hour, 2 hours or all day) and I can use it. I tried to put the laptop in hibernate mood/sleep mode but no use, every time I press the power on button, I face the same problem. Once it starts it doesnt shut down and works fine.
I cant really figure out what is the problem? Your answers are really appreciated. I am having really a tough time with this laptop.

I tried to run it with ac supply (without battery) and it wont run. then with with both AC supply ans battery and it wont run, in the end , i tried it only with battery and it works fine. this is just strange for me. I have been running the laptop on ac supply for more than one year. i run it with battery (the battery is almost kaputt), then i shut it down, remove the battery and run it with only AC supply , works fine now. thanks all for the answers.

  • Re: My Satellite P200 wont boot up

    Hi All,
    Noobie here,
I think I have caused a problem wher my P200, it will not boot up, it was running very slow and I went into task manager and removed some programs that were not running but using memory.
I think there is a good chance I may have deleted something the system needs as it wont load up.
I switch it on and I get a light at the HDD on the front and a light at the dvd drive but nothing else , I have tried pressing F8 and putting the recovery disk in but nothing ??
    Anyone have any ideas ??
    Appreciate any help.
    John

I think the problem is when I was clearing out prorammes that were using memory but not active I accidentally removed some that the system was using, and now when I try to start the computer the missing info is not getting thru to the hard drive as the system is looking in the dvd to boot up and stopping expecting to get the boot info from there. Thats what I think but I dont really know.
How do I make a boot disk if I cant get into the computer ? or can I make one by getting info from the recovery disc.
As I said I am just guessing and even worse I am a novice.
    Rgds
    John

  • Satellite A200 wont boot up

My Satellite wont start up at all. No Bios. When I turn it on there is some activity from the harddrive, two beeping sounds, then nothing happens. It has worked fine up until now, no overheating issues that I know of. Sorry if it isn't enough information, I'm not sure what factors could have caused it.

    Hi
My first idea was to remove the battery and to disconnect the AC adaptor and to wait for about 30min.
But it seems you have already tested it. Is it right?
Hmm. This is really a difficult situation if the workaround described above will not help or didnt help then I dont see any other way as to contact the Toshiba ASP and to check the notebook.
I mean this issue could be caused by any of the parts on the motherboard.
So we can talk about what this issue could be but only the notebook check could provide an 100% answer.
    Greetings

  • Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from USB or DVD

My new toshiba Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from usb, or dvd ,
i have downloaded win 8.1 and burn image to dvd but i still get an error message "no bootable device......please restart system" .
    Can some one plz help?

    Hi
Does Satellite C50-A634 supports internal CD/DVD drive or did you try to boot from external optical disk drive?
You have to know that _Satellite C50 & Satellite C50D models *without* a built-in ODD_ are not able to boot from an external ODD due to a technical limitation.
    Details here:
[Limitation of external boot media for Satellite, Satellite Pro C50 & C50D devices|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3B03JA0000R01.htm]
Only USB flash drives are supported as external boot devices!
It is necessary you can use a USB flash drive as recovery media on notebooks without a built-in ODD.

  • My Satellite C660-155 wont boot up

My Toshiba Satellite C660-155 laptop wont boot up. When i turn it on i get a blinking "-" in top left corner, then the screen goes black and nothing happens after this. It is over a year old which means it is past its warranty.
This has happened before, about 4 or 6 weeks ago, a friend fixed but it has now returned to the black screen.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For better understanding you must offer more precise information.
Can you enter Advanced boot optionsusing F8 at start-up?
Is option Repair my computer listed there?
Can you start OS in safe mode?
    Have you created recovery disc?

  • Satellite L450D-11G - Won't boot and dont know how to restore

    Hi guys,
    I've got a satellite l450d-11g running on windows 7 32 bit.
When i boot it up, it comes up with a message saying that i need to restore it due to a file called: /windows\system32\drivers/msisadrv.sys is missing or corrupt and to insert my disk.
Well i didnt get a disk or anything with my computer and ive tried everything.
Can anyone help me atall? i will be willing to pay, just need to get my laptop up and runninng again.
The f8 and '0' method dont work either.
    Thanks.

    > The f8 and '0' method dont work either.
Usually the HDD recovery option should be available pressing F8 at the beginning of booting procedure.
Then a Advanced boot menu should appear where you could choose repair my computer -> HDD recovery
If this is not possible then you will need to recover the notebook using the Toshiba Recovery disk.
The disk can be ordered here:
    http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
    Good luck

  • After v1.90 BIOS update Satellite Pro A300-1EA wont boot up

I have just upgraded my laptop to the new BIOS as stated in the title but after doing it my computer now wont boot up at all. I just get a blue screen with it asking me to do a CHKDSK because there might be a virus or that the hard drive isn't connected properly (when it is), and it just keeps rebooting.
It wont start in safe mode either. Anyone else had the same problem and if so, how do I get my laptop back?? :(
    Thanks for any replies.

Please don't be mad on me but I think you really didn't read users manuals you got with your notebook. There is exactly described how you can have factory settings again.
So, now you are 100% sure that recovery image is not on the HDD but you don't know how to have factory settings again. Strange.
Remove battery, connect AC adapter only and disconnect all attached external devices.
Start your notebook and enter BIOS settings. Set it to default settings and try to start OS again.
    What happen exactly?

  • Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....
Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.
I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks for your time,
    Martin.

    Hi mate,
Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really wont boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.
I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and its just some BIOS related thing.
Hope your machine will work again..

  • Satellite A105-S2001 wont boot after memory upgrade

I just tried to upgrade my memory from 512mb to 2 gb using 2 1gb memory chips from crucial. When i insert both memory chips at the same time my laptop wont boot, it'll attempt to but stop in the middle of the process and try again 5 or 6 times. Nothin shows up on the screen. The same thing happens when i put only one 1gb chip in. When i put my old 512mb chip in and one 1gb chip the computer boots but only recognizes 960mb or ram. i also updated my bios.
    thanks

Sounds like incompatible memory.  Fortunately, Crucial is very good about honoring their compatibility guarantee so you should be able to get them exchanged.  You can get very strange results with incompatible chips due to the differences in timing specs.  That would account for what you're seeing.  I assume it works normally if you have just the original 512MB chip in place.
