Satellite L450D wont power up

Hi guys
Right here go's , I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D which would not boot up in fact nothing except the green power on light, so I decided to strip it down to have a look after removing the keyboard & power switch ribbon cable & everything else I just thought I would reconnect the power cable without screwing anything back together & lo & behold the fan started to spin but only for 5 secs, the cdrom made the normal sounds I got another green light showing & the battery light came on.
But NO DISPLY never even tried to boot from the hard drive? Anyway I screwed it all back together & tried to power it up but I was back to square one nothing except again the first green light.
So I stripped it down again & attached power ribbon & I was back to lights , cd rom, fan.
I have left it at that just wondered if anyone can tell me what the fault is plz?
Cheers Guys

Hi ritzema123,
Have you tried an external monitor? Probably only the internal monitor is defective and so you dont see picture. Its worth a try.
Also disconnect the AC/DC adapter and remove the battery. Then wait at least for one hour and then connect both devices again. Try to start your notebook now and check what happens.
In worst case you need professional help from an authorized service provider because it looks like a hardware malfunction. Is your notebook under warranty? In such case the repair would be for free. :)

    Hi
my satellite L450D-11X suddenly will not boot up,when i power it on the fan runns for about 3 seconds and the green led at the front comes on then goes out after 5 seconds,
with the power plugged in the green light stays on and the amber light stays on but same result the laptop will not power up
I have tried connecting to ext monitor..no luck also i tried holding zero while powering up..no joy.
I get no display or anything when i power up and nothing happens,, any help much appreciated..steve

    Hi
If you cannot power up the unit, then its definitely a hardware related issue.
My notebook didnt boot up because of the faulty RAM.
But of course, there could be other issue which is not related to memory
Im not sure if buying a new RAM is a option for you only to test the RAM because nobody can say if its really a RAM problem so maybe you should visit an notebook technician downtown who could check this for you
Then you will be 100 % sure what's wrong here...

  • Satellite U840 wont power up

    Hi
Yesterday i went to turn on my Satellite U-840 ultrabook and nothing happened when i pressed the power button. I had left the laptop plugged in and with an external hard drive connected (and switched on) as i had many times before.
The LED comes on when the laptop is connected to power supply, and turns off when it is not.
On checking this problem on google, most advice says to unplug the laptop, take out the battery and hold the power button down for 30 seconds or more, then replace battery and power and it should work.
However, with this ultrabook it is not possible to take the battery out.
Is there an alternative fix for this?

    Hi
Unfortunately this mentioned workaround does not work always and helps only if the notebooks hardware is not affected.
As an alternative workaround disconnect the AC adaptor and leave the notebook disconnected for a longer period of time but I guess this will not be very helpful
I think the warranty should be valid so in such case you should not wait for somemagic self cure but you should contact the service technician to check the hardware.

  • Satellite L20 - Wont power up

    Hi,
I have a Satellite L20. It had not been used for a while and the battery was completely flat. I connected the sound out of the L20 to my amp via amini jack to stereo connector. When I turned on the laptop it started up, but there was a bad interference sound coming from the amp. It stayed on for about 30 seconds then the laptop turned itself off completely. Since then I have been unable to power it up. When I plug in the AC adaptor no power lights come on on the L20. However, the adapter has been tested and it is completely fine.
I think maybe either the Motherboard has been fried in some way, because, even if the battery is completely dead, shouldnt the laptop still power up via the adapter?
Is there anyway the Motherboard can be 'reset' or something?
    Thanks for any help,
    Dave

Uuuh, that sounds like some other machine was gone to heaven..
Usually the machine should power up even when no battey was inserted. So if your powerlights dont light after attaching your AC-adapter which should work (like you said, but I am sceptical) then your motherboard is defective.
You could try another AC-adapter or another poweroutlet in your house. Maybe its just a simple problem.

  • Satellite A80 wont power up

    Hi
When I push the power button nothing happens. 2 of the 4 leds are on - the blue on far left (as you look at the front) and the orange one, 3rd one along from left. The power adaptor is in but it does not have any leds so not sure if it is on but it does NOT get warm.
However if I take out the power cord, those 2 leds on the front of the laptop go off.
Any suggestions? Does the Toshiba need to have a good battery to work even when running off the mains?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
sounds like your machine has some hardware malfunction. Did you already checked if you got an picture on a external monitor? Maybe your display is defective.
Otherwise I would contact some authorised service partner for a hardware checkup. Do you have still warranty on your machine? If yes, I would strongly recommend you to contact the service provider since the repair of your machine would be covered under warranty (which implies that you didnt spilled some liquids or broke something on your machine by yourself ;) )
Just give some feedback if you get a signal when connecting an external screen to your machine.

  • Satellite L450D-11V Power up problem - no power at all - please adviset to

Hello all - hope someone can help with my query
I have been using my 2 year old laptop normally and switched off last night by the usual method - start - shutdown. Have had no problems at all with this laptop since I got it.
No notifications that bettery was not charging etc.
This morning when I went to switch it on, it failed to start. I noticed there were no green lights on the front panel. Pressing the on switch, nothing happens. All indications are that no power is getting to the laptop
Removed the battery and replaced it
Checked power cord/lead/jacks/all connections - all pushed in etc - wiggled jack etc
Husband has exactly the same model, so we tried switching battery - his was fully charged, my laptop would not power up with his battery
Also tried using his power cable - nothing happened.
Don't wan to to spend a fortune on it - could it just be as simple as a fuse or something - any help appreciated!
    cheers

    > No, it will not start with AC power supply only and battery removed.
There must be some problem with power supply electronic.
Disconnect AC power supply and remove battery. Leave notebook for a while and try again with AC power supply only.
If the same will happen again Im afraid you need professional help and contact authorized Toshiba service provider in your country.

  • Satellite L450D-11H - WLan not working when running on battery

    Hi everyone,
I have a Satellite L450D-11H laptop running Windows 7 OS.
When my laptop is plugged into the mains my wireless connection works fine.
But when I unplug it and just run it using the battery, my wireless connection stops working.
I have looked at the power settings and changed the battery option to "Maximum performance when wireless"
But I still have the same problem. Could this be a driver issue?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Feedback sound at Satellite L450D

Just got my daughter a Satellite L450D-113.
She has suddenly experienced what I would describe as a nasty feedback sound if she turns the volume up at all while listening to any audio playback. I think it may have something to do with the mic, as it sounds as if it is switching on as the volume is turned up. Hopefully its a case of adjusting settings, so if anyone can help it would be great if you keep your answer as simple as possible.
    I am a total novice.
    Thanks, al.

I bought a Satellite L450D for my daughter for Xmas.
    It has the same problem.
A kind of high pitched warbling noise through the headphone jack. Sounds the same with headphones, external laptop speakers, or plugged into the line-in on the hifi.
But it only happens when I'm using the AC adapter for power.
If I disconnect the AC and run on battery, then sound is perfect.
I tried a 19v power supply from an older laptop and problem goes away, sound quality is great.
It looks like the Toshiba power supply is the problem.
My Toshiba power supply has a 3-pin 3-leaf-clover shape power cord connector. The other 19v power supply I tried uses 2-pin figure-8 power cord type. Not sure if the 3-pin versus 2-pin power type is significant, or whether the whole Toshiba power adapter is the problem.
I'm going to try Toshiba tech-support and see what they say. If all else fails, I'll take it back to where I bought it and see if they'll replace it. Trouble is, I've done some digging about the internet and seems a lot of people are reporting similar problems so just exchanging it for a new one might not make any difference.

Just phoned Toshiba UK tech support (01932 841600) if you don't want to use the 0844 number. Navigate thru the "choose option..." menus until you get to Tech Support for Laptops option.
If you ring them, you need to know the serial number of your laptop from the sticker on the bottom - its the first thing they ask before they will talk to you.
They're going to send me out a replacement power supply, see if it will fix the problem.
If this is your problem too, make sure you have the Toshiba power adapter handy as they ask you for the part-number, output amps, etc etc details. (Don't know why this is - they know what Laptop you've got from the serial number you gave them so they should already know what power adapter it uses!)
The guy I spoke to didn't have any info regarding the 3-pin versus 2-pin power cord question.
I'll update here whether it fixes the problem or not when I receive the new power adapter.
    Hope this helps.
    Nige.

syncing iphone and now phone is stuck and wont power off or do anything

Reboot the phone:  hold down the power button and the home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "slide to shut down".  When the screen has been completely black for a few minutes, press the power button again.

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

  • Satellite L450D-13X - Black Screen of Death/Blue Screen of Death

    Hello everyone.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D-13X computer for the kids, and for the price it's a good laptop. Have had no issues with it until two weeks ago when the screen froze for the boys whilst playing a game and downloading a program from the net. Had to do a force shutdown and since then we have a BSoD on every boot-up. This is what we have tried:
On 'Starting Windows' we are given an option of either 'Launch Startup Repair' which ends up as BSoD or 'Start Windows Normally' which reverts back to the 'Starting Windows' option list.
Any attempt to enter 'Safe Mode' results in BSoD.
Attempting to boot an ISO of the Windows Recovery Disk on a USB key (we did highlight it and promote it to the top) results in BSoD. Borrowing a proper Window 7 installation DVD and highlighting this as an option results in BSoD.
In fact, the only option we used that threw up something different was using advanced boot options. On one of these options we got the Blue Screen of Death with the following information:
    Unmountable_Boot_Volume
Disable Bios Memory Options such as caching/shadowing
    Tech info
    Stop: 0x000000ED (0xFFFFFA80023C2CDO 0xFFFFFFFFC0000185 0x0000000000000000 0x0000000000000000)
I don't mind erasing the hard drive and starting again, there's nothing on it that's critical. I'd very, very much appreciate a steer on this. Checked the web for stuff and nothing seems to assist in any other options. I am not particularly tech literate but can follow instructions.
    Thanks in advance.

In my opinion system has a problem to start, so there are two most possible ways waht failed. Firstly as "Akuma" and "Keany" says HDD so check it. Second thing is RAM module. Check it using Memtest 86+ or if you have a possibility replace it for a while by other module. HDD is more possible, but RAM module is easier and faster to check (that's my opinion)

  • Iphone 4s wont power on, im just getting a blank screen with battery charging on front screen

iphone 4s wont power on, im just getting a blank screen with battery charging on front screen>>>>becouse it is after damage water

At Apple Store, if you have AppleCare +, replacement iPhone 4S costs $50, if no +, then it will cost $199. Either your battery is faulty, the power management is faulty, or the charging port is faulty, or all three. Start with battery replacement. If still problem, then try charging port with flex cable replacement. If still problem, then it is very complex fix or no fix at all possible.
