Satellite L500 - blank blue screen after login to Win 7

Hi
I have this laptop and i can start up the laptop and it loads fine to the login page i then can login but when the screens opens after login it appears as a blank blue screen with the document folder open i have no background picture and no startup menu nothing else except the document folder.
From there i can access my files etc and anything else internet etc everything but i dont know how to get the screen back to normal.
If i go on background display i can see the image that should be on the background and change it but nothing happens on the full screen.
I have no restore point as yet as new laptop for xmas, i do have backup discs but think its just something to do with the display.
If go into files and folders it shows me the icons on the desktop but all i see is this blank screen.
Any ideas please, if not would restore files work or full back up disc
Thanks very much for any help

Hi
Check this:
Click right on the desktop and choose Personalize.
There you should check the area: Basis design and design with high contrast
Choose Windows 7 basic.
Then reboot the unit.
Usually this should help to get the Windows 7 common design and desktop settings.
But if this will not help then you could use an fast solution which would be a usage of the recovery disk of HDD recovery option.
This would format the HDD and would reinstall everything again

Blue screen after login and Hard drive and startup disk is full -How do I get in to erase data?

    this user tip might help:
Your Mac needs adequate hard drive space to operate normally. How full can a drive be before it's too full? There is no hard and fast rule that says “X” amount or “%” of free drive space is needed. A low amount of RAM requires more drive space for Virtual Memory’s swap files.
Problems from insufficient RAM and free hard disk space are discussed in this link
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/lackofram.html
Here’s some general guidelines for minimum hard drive free space:
    1. As a general rule, your available space should be 5GB as an absolute minimum as it generally requires that much free space to perform an Archive and Install of Mac OS X and still preserve some free space for VM swap files.
    2. Some say that your hard drive should have at least 5% of it's capacity available for use. Still others say 10% to 15%. If you routinely process complex graphics and videos, even more space is required.
Look at these links about freeing up more space.

  • Satellite M50 - Blank screen after login on Win 8.1

    Satellite M50 running Win 8.1
After login, get blank screen mouse but nothing else.
Can run Explorer.exe manually via Task manager to get going but some apps such as Acrobat and Windows Mail don't work.
I've searched online and tried all sorts of the suggested fixes to no avail.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

I don't know what is wrong there but you can try to shut down Win8 completely and check repair options. Try with system restore and roll back OS few days back. Maybe this will help.

    Hi,
In general, event ID 1530 means there are some data in the user profile are still be accessed when the user log
off from the Terminal Server. Please check if any of the data is still remained in the user profile supposed to be deleted. You can use Process Monitor or Process Explorer in order to find the software which is using the data and find the solution. If there
is no such data remained, the Windows have possibly stopped the process and deleted the data when log off. In such a case, you can ignore the Event 1530.
In addition, I recommend running SFC /Scannow from an elevated command prompt and check a dump file for Windows
    Explorer under C:\Localdumps.
    Besides, you can also download
Autoruns to troubleshooting Explorer issues. Please run Autoruns as Administrator, go to Options menu, Filter, select Hide Microsoft Entries and Ok. After that, open the Explorer tab,
and you will see all DLL that are running inside File Explorer, so start disabling and testing if Explorer crashed.
Furthermore, the KB below may be helpful:

  • Blank white screen after login prompt on sharepoint site

    Greetings all
We have sharepoint site setup which is running fien since a year  now with one WFE  web server, db server, ad  server
We received  a problm recently when we received blank screen after entering login details.
Upon restart of website via IIS  it resumed.
I am still finding what are causes and which event log would help to identify errors?

We couldnt schedule this to be on and waited for weekned.
However we again had same incident reported 8 am cst and found that event log has similar warning ( time approx 6 am cst).
    Cleared sharepoint timer cache.
started sharepoint timer service again .
still website didnt show contents after authenticating.
stopped website in IIS   mapped to this web application and site contents started showing up.
is there anything else we need to enable in sharepoint logging to find  root causes.
We have pending windows updates on server , should that be causing any of these errors?

  • Satellite L455D-S5976 - blue screen after BIOS update

fan wasnt operating properly causing overheat so updated bios,
    see here
    [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=67086&tstart=0]
and now i am blue screening (it flashes extremely quickly) just as the windows xp screen on booting appears. keeps doing over and over, please help.
    *edit,*
incidentally as the bios started updating the fan immediately picked up speed. strange.
    Message was edited by: toshibauser_2

So you are not able to access BIOS???
Press F2 immediately (press it many times in the row) after notebook has been power on
But if you are not able to access the BIOS, I assume that there is a serious problem with BIOS/hardware possibly something went wrong during the updatebut usually this should not happen and its sounds strange
However, I think in such case just an ASP technician would help you.

  • Blank Blue Screen After Log In

Hello ladies and gents...ill describe the problem im having and how it occured.
I was browsing the web and playing music when my Powerbook G4 froze suddenly. I did the usual and restarted it. After the loading bar that says "Starting MAc OSX" appeared and fully loaded it went to the normal blue screen that appears when loading the whole desktop and dock...however nothing appeared and it just stayed there. I could still move the mouse around but thats it. I restarted again and was taken to a black screen and DARWIN appeared i put in my username and password and then it said "Welcome To Darwin". I let the powerbook sit for like 2 minutes and it went back to the Blue screen again, nothing loaded. Im basically at a standstill on what to do. I Do not have the installation CD's that came with my powerbook and I dont know what 2 do.
Anyone know a solution to the problem??????
And another thing, if its some sort of harware failure is there a way i can get my programs and digital design work onto an external harddrive i realllyyyy cant afford to lose that stuff.
    Help is greatly appreciated.

    See if this works...
    Might try fsck...
To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. The Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities) and single-user mode are two examples of command-line interfaces in which you can type such commands. To use fsck:
    1. Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line. Hold CMD+s keys down at bootup.
Note: If necessary, perform a forced restart as described in the Emergency Troubleshooting Handbook that came with your computer. On desktop computers, you can do this by pressing the reset/interrupt button (if there is one) or holding down the power button for several seconds. On portable computers, simultaneously press the Command-Control-power keys. If your portable computer doesn't restart with this method, you may need to reset the Power Manager.
    2. At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
    3. Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:

The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK

If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:

*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***

Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
    4. When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.

When I start up my mac, it goes to the blue screen and never shows the login window. In verbose mode the screen flashes from blue to black displaying:

  • Function button on Satellite L500 causes Blue Screen Of Death

Ok I have an Satellite L500 and I got it back in December 2009. Ever since I first got it, if I ever press the function button the BSOD appears and the computer restarts. I dont particularly use the function button often, but its just in case I press the wrong button and its a nice feeling not to have a laptop-suicide button haunting my keyboard.
Also if I decide to shut down the laptop completely, and turn it back on at a later time, its likely that it will appear then as well. I have no clue as to why this is but any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi buddy,
And what operating system do you use? Does it happen with preinstalled Windows from Toshiba recovery disk?

  • Dual 7916's showing blank blue screen after 30 mins. uptime

Have any of you had this experience before? I have a 7975 series phone with dual 7916's expansion modules; The phone and the expansion modules boot-up fine but after 30 mins or more of idle time, the expansion modules display screen is Blue with no programing. This setup is working fine on other phones but is an issue on two 7975's right now. I have deleted and re-added the problem phones in CUCM 9.1 replace, ALL hardware (i.e. phone, pwr cube, expansion modules etc.) and swapped all network components. See the following Specs. below:
    CUCM 9.1
    7975 firmware SCCP75.9-3-1SR1-1S
    7916 firmware B016-1-0-4-2

    Hi Richard,
Just covering all steps here but are the expansion modules selected within the phone configuration within CUCM?  On the physical phone itself, if you press the settings button and select Status, then Expansion Modules what do you see?  May have to upgrade the firmware of the 7916's.
    Hope this helps

one day in the middle of use my Macbook Pro all the suddenly the screen all get scremble. and the machine just hang can't even reboot.
SO i takeoff the battery to reboot, but now all i get is a blank blue screen after the Apple Logo.
i try boot in safe mode.
i go as far as the login screen after login then just OS x10.5 default wallpaper and nothing etc ?
so how can i make my macbook work again ?
i really don't want to reinstall the OS as the comp also get another bootcamp partition.
    so any suggestion ?
    thx

True, everyone should but not everyone does. Some people, newcomers especially, have the naive idea that when they spend a lot of money on something it should work, so they don't worry that any day could be their computers last. I guess we all have to go through something like this so we learn the lesson. I hope that in the future he'll just get an inexpensive usb drive and use time machine if he wants. It works pretty well.
In the meantime we have to get him going again with the least criticism applied. The page I referenced is nonjudgemental and, I thought, contained the advice you gave him in a somewhat neater format.
Peace, and thanks for helping a fellow Macintosher

    Hi ALL,
We are using SAP BPC 10.0 Web Client with Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.214 with IE 9.0 on Windows 7.0.
We face strange error where on only on certain PC, the BPC web client working.. On other getting Blank/Blank Screen after login (with "movie not loaded" on the adobe flash player).. Both PCs are having the same setting.
Even one of PC which previously working, starting this week suddenly getting the same error.. I have created OSS message and got feedback with also share this problem on this forum.
    I have done several actions as mentioned on several SAP notes )1624267, 1664889, 1681147, 1694871, 1752971, 1798336, 1804221, 1806371, 1811218, 1820505, 1918631, 1968584), but still no luck..
If you have the same issue, kindly share..
    Thanks and regards,

Yes .. Compatibility View also checked.. in several PCs, it is working well. both failed and working PCs have the same setting.
Just found another weird: in one working PC, 2 different windows local-admin users login to the same PC for BPC-web and getting different result (1 Ok ; 1 failed) ..seems it is related with the user profile and login-domain servers (we have multiple login-domain servers with load balancing mechanism).
    Thanks and regards,

  • Another blank blue screen at startup issue

Can anyone shed some light on this?
The iMac was operating fine up until a few nights ago. I had been using the machine all day without a hitch then in the evening tried switching to another user account and the system hung up stuck with the spinning pinwheel before login. I forced a reboot and got the blank blue screen.
I did all the recommendations I've seen posted here before. Repair Permissions and Disk Repair from the Install Disc (neither of which returned any issues) I rebooted in Safe Mode which runs fine but after rebooting I had the same problem. I booted Safe Mode again and tried making new accounts, that wasn't any help. I then went into single user mode to wipe out the preferences and netinfo database. No luck. reset SMU, reset PRAM, reset NVRAM, unplugged all external devices and pulled out the 3rd party RAM (bought it in 2005 from Crucial when I bought the iMac). No Go.
I reinstalled OSX using the Archive feature and that didn't fix things. Then I reinstalled OSX and let it wipe the entire HD clean after using Safe Mode to back-up my essentials onto external USB HD first. Even the clean install didn't help. It certainly runs a lot more zippy but it only runs in Safe Mode.
I ran the extended hardware tests from the Install CD/DVD and everything passed OK.
Now, there is one issue I can't solve myself and I have to wonder if this may be the cause of the problems, even though hardware tests don't reveal any problems. When I opened the case to pull the RAM, I noticed two capacitors on the logic board that had leaked, however the leaks are all dried up and crusty, not wet like a recent leak. Here's a photo:

Is there anything I may have missed?
Now I have seen the other posts regarding the repair programs Apple has for certain model of iMac, and my serial number does fall within the range (QP519XXXXXX), however this is a 2nd generation iMac and the page states that only 1st gen iMacs are elligible. Wonder if the photo of the leaky caps could sway them to make an exception?
I'm trying to get as far as I can through troubleshooting because the closest Apple Store or Apple tech is 3 hours away.

Present you case to Apple. If you don't get anywhere w/them then ask to be transferred (or call them yourself) to Customer Relations - 1-800-767-2775.
Otherwise, you will have no alternative but to take your computer to your local AASP.
If you have AppleCare, you can have the repair tech come to your home (under certain conditions). Read the small print in the AC booklet.
You can also check AASP or AASP's Outside of the USA to find a repair shop closer to you.
*PS Thank you for providing detailed info about your troubleshooting efforts. It was a great help.*
