Satellite L500D: What Win7 version should I choose: 32bit or 64bit?

I have just purchased a Toshiba Satellite L500D and upon starting it up it asks in the product recovery menu to choose either Windows 7 32-bit version or Windows 7 64-bit version.
I am really not sure which option I should be selecting.
Can some please assist??

Its your choice which version you choose! ;)
But if you have 4GB or more RAM installed I would suggest choosing the 64bit version. Only this version can handle 4GB or more RAM.
If you dont have 4GB RAM you can choose the 32bit version. Some older applications are require 32bit OS.

I want to install windows vista instead of the XP i have by default in my laptop Satellite A100 PSAA8.
* which version should i go with; *64-bit or 32-bit* ?
* and what about x86 and x64!?
* will I find all drivers in the download section for the new OS?
* will there be any non-working component or function after installing ?
The new OS will make me do extra efforts every time re-install, I wish I can have any thing similar to the recovery CD of my laptob (+with the one click install with drivers also+) but has windows vista, :-(
Is there any solution to make it easier any time i re-install?

According Toshiba download page your notebook is supported for Vista 32-bit. There you can find all drivers, tools and utilities designed for Vista.
There is also installations Instructions document. Use it for right installations order.
So what you must do is to obtain Microsoft Vista installations DVD.
If you need some assistance let us know.

Satellite L500D - What kind of slot is under the battery?

I have found a slot( i think it's memory slot) under battery in my satellite L500D. What kind of slot is that?(It looks like for MicroSD card, but sign says it's WIS slot - I have searched but I haven't found what does it means)
Does it work in my laptop or it's for other models?

Memory slots are placed near the batter bay.
But the slots are not placed under the battery.
It would be interesting to see the slot on the picture.
As far as I know the notebook does not support the 3G therefore I dont think that this is a slot for a 3G card.
Of course the notebook supports an Bridge Media slot which handles the SD Card, SDHC Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard but this slot is placed on the front of the notebook.

Qlogic what firmware version should be installed

I'm having trouble with a couple of new qlogic 5600 switches (the switch wants to assign my clients as target and not initiators). which firmware version should be installed on the switches? i'm having quite a lot of trouble with this upgrade and any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

thanks for your reply Donald. I did manage to get the FC switch and hba cards working properly. I was aware of the device scan and streamgard settings on the switch, but the feedback i was getting from the switch was worrisome (some targets were listed as initiators on the switch and vicaversa). What solved the problem for me was to load the latest qlogic firmware 7.0.1...(i think), and it started giving the correct devices on each port. The new firmware also allowed me to log on to the switch through a web browser on my mac and not the antiquated "San Surfer" java app that came with the switches. I also had to set my hba to point-to-point and not automatic. I also set my arrays to point to point as well. I have 2 xserve RAIDs and a new promise array all set for "point-to-point". The old emulex switch we were using before was much nicer to work with than the qLogic switches that I just installed, and I found myself longing for the simplicity of the setup on the emulex.
Everything is working great now...I'm getting very fast throughput (250mb/sec).
The only remaining grief is that everytime I quit the admin app and relaunch it, it won't reconnect with my mdc's and i have to delete the xsan admin preference in my admin/library/preferences/ folder to reattach the admin app and administer my san. any ideas?

What project settings should I choose in PE8 for frame rate of 29.97 if camera source unknown?

Hi, I would like to know what project settings to choose in premiere elements 8 for a frame rate of 29.97, pixel aspect ratio of 1.3333 and 1440x1080? Should I choose HDV, AVCHD or hard disk? I didn't record the footage, so I'm not sure what it was recorded on.

I am definately selecting NTSC - HDV, HDV, 1080I30. I then import the video. It shows in the project media - properties as 29.97 frame rate and in the interpret footage it also shows as 29.97. But when it finishes indexing and starts to conform the video is changes to 25 frame rate.
Please see images below. When importing the video it is at a frame rate of 29.97 until the indexing has finished, then it changes to 25 before conforming video

What AIR for android version should I choose to publish Flash game on Google play store ?

My team and I are almost done whith our mobile game development using Flash professional CS6.
We wonder what version of AIR for Android we should publish for as a target (in publish settings)???
because we will publish it on play store and we want it to be compatible with largest number of android phones.
knowing that users have different versions of AIRs, different Flash Players and different OS versions on their phones.
and are there any useful points we should take into consideration when publshing flash game on play store??

The current version of AIR (version 13) is still compatible with the same set of Android devices as version 3 was, and there no doubt have been a lot of things fixed over the last two years. So, just use AIR 13. It’s currently compatible with over 4000 devices, which should be enough I think!

I have Weblogic 10.3.5 (wls1035_generic.jar) installed in my server linux, i want to install OSB but when i search in the oracle site there are just OSB for WLS 10.3.6 (Release 11gR1 (11.1.1.6.0)) and WLS 10.3.4 (Release 11gR1 (11.1.1.4.0))
I can not find a Release 11gR1 (11.1.1.5.0), what can u recommend me to install instead?

Ps CS6 Laptop - What Hard Drive should I choose?

I'm going to be ordering a laptop for work very soon. I will need a laptop for travel and my company orders through Dell. Basically here is my build so far (below). I have read so many forums and articles about hard drive setups. But I'm limited to a laptop so I need to prioritize! Please offer some advice on my build so far, best Hard Drive, and any room for improvement, or even where I might have overkill (is that possible? haha). I get one internal hard drive and I want to choose the best one for my application. I will be working with files for print. I believe up to 48" x 64" x 600dpi multiple layers. I'm going to max out RAM to reduce scratch disk necessity. Also, when docked I will have dual 22" monitors.

Ok here's the problem its either 3 drives, no optical media, RAID ***OR*** 1 drive, no RAID. I can't have 2 drives becuase I get the following "error" when choosing options on the dell site
The No Raid RAID Configuration only allows a maximum of (1) 2.5" hard drive. If Primary Storage selected is 2.5" then Secondary Storage will need to be "NONE".
SO with THESE LIMITATIONS what do you think is my best bet? 3 drives and no media (seems like a bad idea?) or 1 512 ssd? Also my boss thinks I need 2TB of space (which isn't even an option here) and so I think it will take some convincing to explain that a smaller faster more expensive SSD rive could be optimal over the 1TB or 750GB HDDs....
With everyone's advice and suggestions I'm no closer to making a decision. I really need to work within these parameters. And keep in mind the 32 gb ram and other specs and what I'm doing. I'm not doing 3D animations or video production here. I don't even have Illustrator or other software, just PS CS6 (not to say I won't get Illustrator or other graphics software in the future but my job function should not change - just print work)

Satellite A30: What important drivers should I install

Hi, My Satellite A30 PSA30E had a major crash a while ago, now I have to reinstall everything but I lost my boot disc, I got an XP disc and I kno I have to install the drivers afterwards. I was just wondering what ones are the most important and if I need to install them in any specific order.

If you want to use all notebook features you should install all available XP drivers from the Toshiba driver page.
You ask for the most important drivers? Well, you should install
- Chip Set Utility
- Display Driver
- Sound Driver
- LAN Driver
- Wireless Lan Driver
- Cardbus Driver
- Touch Pad Driver
- Modem Driver
Other utilities like Toshiba Console or E-Key are needed to use the notebooks features but you the unit will run also without these programs

What bios version should I use...??

I am running 2.8ghz intel Northwood CPU on my 875P Neo board current Bios is ver. 1.8
After running live update its telling me to update to version 3.6 bios.
I thought I read somwhere that this version is for the prescott family of CPU's.
If that is so what version of the Bios should I be running...1.9?

The v3.x BIOSes are for the PCB 2.0 revision of the MSI 875P Neo mobo whereas the v1.x & 2.x BIOSes are for the original PCB 1.0 revision of MSI 875P Neo mobo.

My advice for you is that if you are not suffering any major problems with the current system, try not to meddle with it as it may be you causing the errors in the end, for example, Bad flash etc. I rather that you keep your stable system running and enjoy the fun you have with it till something major comes along for an update .

To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

What music format should I choose for a download?

I am new to downloading music and haven't used iTunes. I bought a track at theclassicalshop.net and it is now asking what format I want to download it in: WMA, WAV, AIF. I don't have a clue which one. Then in another part of the screen I have a choice between WMA and MP3.
I have an iMac, iPhone and iPad; no W******.
I would also like some background information on formats. I gather from other questions in the forum that iTunes uses AAC or something but that it is lossy, which doesn't sound good. But I also gather that iTunes can convert from and to other formats. Is there some reliable information on this subject somewheter someone could point me to? I would really appreciate it. I can't find anything on apple.com.

MP3 and AAC (M4a) are both lossy. WAV and AIFF files are non-lossy but are very much larger - impracticably so for most downloading purposes. iTunes does not handle WMA files.
MP3 and AAC quality can be perfectly reasonable as long as they are not compressed too much - purchased items are usually fine. You could download AIFF if you want to be fussy, though it's likely the difference won't be obvious unless you are using a good hifi system.
You could download as AIFF or WAV and convert to MP3 or AAc but there's no point at all in doing that if you can download an MP3 version. Note that if you download an MP3 version there is no point in converting to AIFF - all you will do is make the file size larger, it won't improve the quality at all.
AAC files are slightly better quality than MP3 at the equivalent bitrate, though again the difference is minimal and not likely to be obvious in most playback situations. You could compromise by downloading AIFF and converting to AAC if you want to keep the filesize on your Mac (and more to the point your iPod) down, though the download will be a long one as a result.
