Satellite L505-141 - Recovery disk contains Windows 7 32bit

Hello,
I bought my computer last year around March. The operation system I got with the laptop was Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Lately I'm thinking of format my laptop by using the Recovery CD that I receviced with the laptop. I dont know why but the recovery CD has Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit! Why its 32bit and not 64bit?
The laptop comes with 6GB Ram and Core i5 and I wont benefit my laptop with 32bit Operation System. Is this normal? I was suppose to get the 32bit operation system (really wired if u guys make a laptop with 6gb memory)! This really makes me feel angry. I feel like I was tricked.
If ts the company that I bought the laptop from and not Toshiba's fault I demand and investigation or something like that since they really make a bad name for u guys.
Please answer me as soon as possible.
tnx,
Andrei Braunstein.

Hello
Before you wrote such stuff that is not correct please check the specifications on Toshiba website first and have a look in your *user manual* !
The notebook was delivered with a recovery disk that is Windows 7 32bit so everything is ok with this disk and you got the correct one.
The interesting point is that the recovery disk for Windows 7 64bit you have to create yourself as mentioned in *user manual* ! You can create this disk using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. You need some blank DVDs to create the disks and thats all. After doing this you can restore the preinstalled Windows 7 64bit everytime when you want.
Now its too late for doing this but you can order a recovery disk here:
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
I can understand you that it would be better using 64bit Windows on a notebook with 6GB RAM but dont forget some older applications dont run on 64bit and require 32bit. Furthermore Im wondering that you dont saw a message that reminds you to create the recovery disk. This message you get after the first start of your computer:
+Important INFORMATION+
+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+

  • Satellite U200-115: Does Recovery Disk contains WinXP

Does the above disk also contain (XP) the windows operating software? or should I be making another back up disk?

    Hi
Generally the Toshiba recovery disk contains an operating system, Toshiba drivers, utilities and additional software like WinDVD for example.
If your notebook was delivered with Windows XP then the recovery CD will contain the Windows XP.
If the notebook was delivered with Vista then the Vista OS was placed on the recovery CD!
I hope everything is clear now!

Please help me, I dont know what cuses the laptop to crush.

    Hi
It is not easy to say why this happen and maybe best option will be to contact Toshiba service and let them check your notebook. They can force your notebook to run on maximum level to see on which point your notebook will crash.
As usual notebook user you can do some tests but I don't think it will help you much.
You can test it with AC power supply or with battery power supply to see if there is some difference.
You can test it with different browsers to see if the same will happen again and again.
What you can also try is to check this with different power plans.
At the end you can install OS again using HDD recovery installation and test it with factory settings and without some additional software.
I believe you should contact Toshiba service in your country, explain the situation and hear what they will say about that.

I get to a message that says...Windows restarted Unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error.  Windows install cannot proceed, click ok .  When I do that the program restarts... it repeats the process over and over... Try tapping away at the F11 key immediately after powering on the laptop to get into HP Recovery Manager which can be used to do a System Recovery back to Factory settings.

With an upgrade, you'd have to first reinstall Vista, using the recovery media, then you'd have to apply the upgrade.
A better solution is to buy a program like Acronis TrueImage and use it to make a restorable image backup of your hard drive with Windows 7.

  • Satellite L505 - Does it come with Windows 7 64bit or 32bit disk?

I got a Satellite L505 computer with *preinstalled* Windows 7 64-bit version and a 32-bit product recovery disk. I have not created a backup of a 64-bit version and meantime reinstalled the system from the 32-bit recovery disk provided erasing my HD. I would however like to reinstall the 64-bit verision of Windows 7. I know that I can order a backup media from https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/ but it does not say wich version (64-bit or 32-bit) will be shipped to me.
If I check the model description on the Toshiba page it says that it is shipped with 64-bit version and includes 32-bit recovery disk. This descrition still leaves me with a question which backup media I would get from Toshiba. I have to be sure that I get the 64-bit WIndows 7 before I order one.
I would appreciate a confimation. Thanks!

    Hi buddy,
I think everything is ok and there is no open question. The description on the Toshiba website says everything: The notebook is shipped with 64bit Windows 7 version that means this version is preinstalled on your computer. Additional you get a 32bit version on a recovery disk and thats all!
So you didnt burn the 64bit recovery disk and that means you have to order a new one from Toshiba. I assume you will get both versions then 32bit and 64bit.

  • Satellite L455-S500 Recovery Disks NOT Working (Windows 7 HP)

DH bought a Satellit L455-S500 in May of 2010.  It worked well for just over three years.  Then it into a spiral of failing to boot up...virus scans showed issues and nothing was removing them.  The computer would not make a backup copy - so we started the recovery process with the press 0 and release as it booted.
The recovery partition had apparently gotten corrupted.  The recovery process failed.
Recovery media was ordered from Toshiba and we tried again.
Hard drive was wiped and recovery media disk one was placed in the optical drive and the computer went into the installation of a clean copy of the OS.  It asked for the second disk - then gave error code 10-FC12-0241 and said to click [OK] to shut down.  It reboots at that point and gives error code F3-F200-0002 and again says to click [OK] to shut down.  It does NOT reboot at that point.
I've tried the original hard drive (wiped & formatted) and a new hard drive from the local electronics store.  I've tried removing the memory stick (RAM) from the B slot and I've tried swapping the memory stick from the B slot to the A slot.
We replaced the laptop after a couple of days as he NEEDED a working one for his job - but he doesn't LIKE Windows 8 (no touch screen on the replacement laptop).  I'm still trying to get this one working again so that he has a spare that he LIKES working with.
The error codes show that the most likely issues are with the hard drive or the memory.  But I haven't had any luck with any of my attempts to get it working again, even as a clean install.
Could it be the recovery disks that have the issue?  Or do I need to try one more time with a brand new, unused hard drive, instead of a working one pulled from another laptop?

Try reformating the hard drive to one raw partition before using the recovery media. You can use a windows 7 disc to format the drive then remove the disc and start with the recovery media.

  • Satellite P200 - Product Recovery Disk 2/2 doesn't work

    Hello,
because my laptop (Satellite P200 - I bought it in dec. 2007) didn't work properly anymore - and when after a lot of cleaning up it still didn't work properly - I decided to start from the beginning and restore the operating system with the 2 product recovery cd's/dvd's.
Product Recovery Disk 1/2 worked fine - Windows Vista Home Premium is loaded again on my computer.
But what abot *Product Recovery Disck2/2*??
At one point the recovery program asks for an 'ADD-ON' but when I put in Product Recovery Disk 2/2 at that moment the program doesn't recognize the disk. During the rest of the recovery program the program doesn't ask for Product Recovery Disk 2/2, so the content of that cd-rom/dvd now isn't loaded on my laptop.
Has anyone had this problem too?
What did you do about it?
Is it a problem not to have loaded the content of Product Recovery Disk 2/2 (can I go without it?)?
Thanks in advance for any reactions!

    Hi

I dont know what Add-ons the tool asked for but as far as I know the Toshiba image contains the Vista OS, Toshiba drivers and the additional software.
So if you have recovered the notebook using the Toshiba Recovery disk 1 then the notebook should be set to the SAME state like at the first day of purchase.
PS: what files can you find on the second disk?

  • Booting Satellite A105 to Recovery Disk

I have a Satellite A105-S2716. I want to reformat the drive and reinstall the factory default installation. I can't get the machine to boot to the recovery DVD. I have tried using the f12 or the C key at startup, but every time I try, it boots up to XP on the hard drive. Thinking I had bad media, I ordered a new recovery disk and I get the same results with it.
I saw the thread on using DBAN but I'm afraid to do that without some knowledge that the computer is going to boot to the recovery disk after formatting the drive.
What do I have to do to make it boot to the recovery disk. I find it hard to believe that I would have to reformat the hard drive to make it boot from the optical drive.
    Thank you.
    Solved!

    Satellite A105-S2716
I have tried using the f12 or the C key at startup, but every time I try, it boots up to XP on the hard drive.
I assume you can read DVDs from the optical drive using Windows. The problem may be due to a broken BIOS. You might try flashing that.
ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.00 for Satellite A100 (PSAA0U/PSAA1U)
Or you can change the boot priority in the BIOS so that the optical drive is seen first. You can do that from Windows on the Boot Priority tab in HWSetup. Look for that in Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities.

  • Satellite boot and recovery disk issue, help please...

    Hello,
Well here is the issue. My satellite is a few years old, all the sudden it quits booting. Gets to the starting windows xp mode then crashes and repeats the process. So I thought, well..I will just install my recovery disks..
Well, thanks to whatever reason, and its frustrating as anything..I get a wrong machine error. Wont allow me to install my recovery disks. Call toshiba, they say my warranty expired have to go pay a service rep.. Arrgh..
This was bought brand new and it is the correct machine..
Anyway..when I get wrong machine i do get:
    Installation process aborted/failed!
    A:/>_
I am assuming, there is something I can type there that will have it reconize my machine.. Any ideas?? Toshiba was no help. Or.. If you have a idea on how i can boot this thing without the recoery disks.
    Thanks in advance..

    HI jake,

  • Satellite L300-215 - Recovery disk couldn't be installed on this hardware

Hi, after running fine for several months I shut my notebook down recently and when I went to boot it up again it told me there was an error with Windows and had to run the repair center.
Well after waiting for four hours and getting no-where I decided to use the recovery disks I got the last time I sent it away. After installing all the neccesary components it then told me it was installing Windows. After doing this for ten minutes I got a pop up block telling me that "Windows could not be installed on this hardware". After it shut itself down and I rebooted it told me the same message and suggest I reinstall so I tried the process again and it ended in the same result.
    Whats the problem?

    Hello Richard
I really don't understand what is wrong there and the whole story is somehow strange for me.
Original Toshiba recovery disc contains recovery image that include operating system, all necessary drivers for notebooks hardware, different Toshiba tools and utilities and some additional software.
Such images are designed for each model separately and if you use the right one it should be installed properly. Of course the disc should not have some scratches and HDD must be OK.
Due to these facts I don't understand how you can get this message Windows could not be installed on this hardware. It is not logic to me.
When recovery installation is finished there is nothing you must do except go through set-up procedure and just define username (account). Thats all.
I don't know which disc you got from service. Is this original recovery for your notebook mode?
As previous user wrote you can try to obtain Microsoft Vista installation disc and try to install own OS and test if the installation will ends properly.
Try also to contact guys from service and try to clarify this. Explain the situation again and I just hope they will understand what the problem can be.

This site is for US computers. I doubt you'll get your questions for that Canadian model answered here.
There appear to be two recovery partitions. Maybe one for 32- and one for 64-bit Windows. Or maybe one is for English and the other for French.
Your User's Manual isn't much help either. You probably need to ask Toshiba tech support in Canada.
About all I have to offer is this: Be wary of drives with advanced-format technology. See my message about that.

  • Satellite A300 - Need recovery disk 2

    Hii
Does anyone have the recovery disk 2 for A300? I have disk 1 but missing disk 2 :(
Hope someone can help me or send me a link from where i can download the disk 2
    Thankyou

    Hi
Sorry but recovery image cannot be downloaded and if you want to use recovery image you must order it.
One more thing: Satellite A300 is nice notebook and runs perfectly with Win7 so I recommend you to use Win7 and not Vista.
To avoid recovery disc order, obtain Microsoft installation disc and install Win7. Im pretty sure you will be satisfied with it.

  • System Recovery disk for Windows 8.1

Hi, I have upgraded my pc from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Every thing went ok. Now I have upgraded it to Windows 8.1. So far every thing went fine. However, can some one tell me how I can create a System Recovery Disk at this stage? I have managed to create
    a Recovery Drive USB stick.

    Hi,
According to your description, I suggest you use system image backup to create a System Image.
You may refer to the following steps:
1.Press Win+Q, search File history. Then click it in the display list.
2.In the File History control panel that appears, look in the lower left corner. The option you're looking for is System Image Backup. Click that, and the familiar Create a System Image wizard appears.
    Hope this helps.
