Satellite L550: some CDs does not play correctly - scratching noise

I have a Satellite L550 and I was happy with it so far, as long as I didn't use CD listening.
Now I found out, that some CDs will not be played correctly (scratching noise), but some are fine.
However, when I take the "scratching" ones into a standard CD-player, it works fine there too.
What can I do?

Scratching noice??? Did you try different software?
Winamp or VLC player are great, small applications.
What sound card do you have? Is it Realtek? If yes, then you should try sound driver update.
Furthermore Realtek sound chip support the Realtek HD audio Manager which can be found in control panel. There you can change the sound properties
But maybe it a compatibility issue between the disk and CD/DVD drive this ca be possible too

Placed .swf does not play correctly

I have placed a .swf on a page. When exported to pdf the movie does not play correctly. It plays correctly before being placed. I used flash cs4 actionscript 3 to create the .swf.
I have selected the highest level for pdf when exporting.

ok! I figured it out. This is what is happening. Apparently when you place a .swf in indesign and make a button on the page to show the movie when clicked and then export to pdf -- there is a time delay from the time you click on the button and the movie starts to play in a floating window. Its just a few frames of 24 fps movie but that is enought for whatever gaget that reads the movie to miss the first few frames.
So in effect any info in the first few frames is not read. So i had a stop on the first frame that was not being read. I put the stop on frame 7 and now it plays just like I had hoped.
I hope this helps anybody else out that has had a similar problem.

Album art is distorted or messed up and music does not play correctly

I recently restored my iPod touch 2g to 4.2.1 and my album art looks mispositioned and distorted as you can see here:

However, album art is displayed correctly in Cover Flow and in iTunes
Another issure I have is that every song on my iPod Touch does not start at the beginning, it starts at the middle and plays for a few minutes then goes to the beginning of the song.
Is there anyway to fix this?

I have tried that but it would reproduce the problem
I also get the error messages "The iPod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found." and "The iPod cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device."

Does not play correct ringtones that are set for the Caller and Rings when no one is calling

I have had my Droid Global for around and three months and from the beginning I have had issues with the ringtones ringing when a certain person calls me. Instead, it seems, it will play the rigntone that is applied to the last person that called me instead of the person who is actually calling me. This can be somewhat frustrating and kind of defeats the purpose of applying rigntones to people in the first place.
Also, just recently my phone has decided to ring all by itself...without any incoming calls, notifications...nothing. It does a very quiet ring that sounds similar to that of a house telephone or landline phone. It does not stop unless someone calls me or if I take my battery out and reset my whole phone. My phone has only done this twice and unfortunately it once happened in one of my college classes and I couldn't get it to stop.
Please help me...I don't know what I can do to fix this!!!

Video does not play correctly.

Hello, I can't get the video on my ipod to play correctly anymore. All it does is show a little picture of the video and then just plays the sound from the video. It did get confused with the music list, but I fixed that problem. But now it seems that it's getting confused with music playing part. Is there a way to fix this?

Oh, nevermind. I Read another topic and found out a way to fix it. Thank God for support forums and everyone that helps out!

Music does not play correctly

I am beginning to find more and more music in my library that does not finish completely when played. It seems as though they will play 75-80% through and then stop, sometimes moving to the next song and sometimes just standing still. It has happened to music downloaded from iTunes, imported from CD's, and mp3s added from elsewhere. It is as though I have incomplete files, but I know that is not the case. These files have played in full before with no problem. I have recently transferred my files to a new computer with a backup EHD. I am not sure if this is the root of the problem, or if it is a contributor, or just a coincidence. Has anyone else had this problem wiht their music and had any luck finding a resolution?

I have had two instances of having a downloaded album "scrambled" while playing on appletv, I.e. the track listing remaining correct but having the wrong songs play. Once this has occurred the album does not play correctly. Any help with this issue?

I am having problems with Apple TV scrambling albums while playing from iTunes. The track listing remains correct but the songs play out of order and not all of the songs seem to in place, I.e. a song that played previously under one title will play as a different title. Any thoughts or help? Thanks.

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

HD video does not play correctly in Quicktime

I have a Kodak Z1275 camera. My PC is a Compaq with Athlon 64 3800 processor. Quicktime version 7.4.1.
When I play videos taken in HD mode, the color is not correct when I play them back using Quicktime. Everything is blue.
When I play them back on the camera, they are fine.
Videos taken in non-HD mode play fine on the PC.
Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Open the QuickTime Control Panel / Video tab and check the box to use "Safe mode".
Quit and relaunch QuickTime Player and any open browser and try the file again.

Satellite A100 bios update does not work correctly

I have a Satellite A100-153 PSAA9E and using Vista OS.
How do I install the new bios?? I run the .exe and nothing happens it shows that it extracts some files and then a notepad text appears that says something like this.

Hm, sounds a little bit weird. I would suggest you to do the following:
go to the drivers download page
-> http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Download the latest common modules if available and RE-download the BIOS update.
Then try it again. If this doesnt help then perform a full system recovery, download the BIOS update and then it MUST work.

Project does not play correctly.

This is kind of related to another post http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1697615&tstart=0 of mine.
I moved my iMovie Events folder from my local HD to an external hard disk but left the iMovie Projects folder alone. I placed an alias to point to the hard disk and for reading this appeared to work. For writing it did not. So I just pointed iMovie to write to the external hard disk.
But when I opened a previously saved project, it would start off okay but then begin to lose the timing of the edits until the project was garbage. So I dragged the source material back to its location on the local hard drive. This has not fixed the problem.
My project has lost all the fine edits to the project. The edits are there as is the music and titles but the timing is all wrong. Is there a way to restore this?
Incidentally I do have a fully rendered MP4 version of the project but I wanted to go back and convert it from NTSC to PAL and burn it to DVD for some UK family members. I can do this using JES Deinterlacer to convert from NTSC MP4 to PAL DV so not all is lost, but it would be nice to know if there is a way to restore my project to get back to source.

iM08 has a very .. fragile file management, you shouldn't 'override' by any Finder operation.

When i try to burn my iMovie to a dvd it does not play correctly. It gets stuck or slows down at parts...please any tips, ideas or help? Thanks

When I create my movie on iMovie it plays great. Then I try to burn it to a dvd and it doesn't play well on the dvd. It either gets stuck at parts or slows down or skips a little. I try to save it to my theatre and burn it that way. Or I have added it to my documents and burned it that way. Either way worked. Any tips, ideas, help or solutions would be very much appreciated. This is driving me crazy and i am wasting so many dvds! Thanks!

REPORT DOES NOT RUN CORRECTLY , URGENT PLEASE HELP

I am trying to run a report from visul basic screen, but it does not run correctly. Here is how I am running the report. There is a screen developed in VB This screen prompts the user for user id and password. Once it gets that, it connects to the oracle database and pulls out a column from a table. And passes that value as a parameter to the report. Now I am calling the the report for each individual value . There are 21 value being pulled out of the database and it invokes the report 21 times. So there are 21 report engines gets started. Is there a better way to do that ? Secondly when I pass the parameter , some parameters does not pass correctly I guess , because its not generating any out put . Like out of 21 may be 10 or 11 reports gets generated correctly but rest of the reports are blank. I debug the screen i saw that the parameter value is correct, everything seems good. But still the reports are comming blank. Any Idea why it is so ? The command line that i am using in VB screen is

In the above command " adoRecBrand!Brand " is the parameter thats being passed. This is actually a recordset and brand is the column in it. When I debug the screen , I see the value also there. But the report comes out blank. Please help. This is urgent.

The way you call reports is not scalable. If you have 100 records come back from database, you would end up launch 100 engines at the same times, which probably will blow up your machine. You should use oracle reports server to do that. You can either use rwcli60 to submit the job to reports server, or invoke rwcgi60 from URL.
I am afraid some of reports engine failed to start and you get nothing back in your case.
After switch to use reports server achitecture, if you still see some report is blank in your application, then you can run that report with that special set of parameters manually and see if any problem with the report itself.

One song does not synch correctly

I purchased a song from iTunes on my Mac. I added it to two different playlists and synched those playlists to my iPhone 4. When I play the song on my iPhone, it does not start at the beginning of the song (the first 10 or 15 seconds seem to be missing). The song plays correctly on my Mac.
I tried deleting the song from my playlists, syncing, copying the song again to the playlists, and re-synching. The song still does not play correctly on my phone.
Does anyone have ideas for how to resolve this?

There are users reporting the process being stuck and it might have to do with apple turning on match to other countries today.
Have you tried turning match off and letting it remove all none downloaded songs and then turning match back on to see if it fixes it?
Sometimes turn match off and then back on fixes some things, but not always.
Especially if it is working on your other devices, it has to be with the one your trying to get the song downloaded onto.
