Satellite L550D-13V - How to recover without recovery disks?

Hi together,
I got a big problem. Win 7 Home Premium 64 BIT crashed on my satellite L550D-13V.
I tried to repair but it doesn't work. So I decided to recover via HDD Utility.
Everything seems to be okay but in the end the tool said that errors occured. I tried to recover again but the process aborted with bluescreen "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" this time.
After reboot system told me that no bootmgr is available. I tried to boot by using recovery disk but it also seems to be faulty because the system cannot not boot from the disks.
And there's my problem. I am unable to boot / recover now. Volume D seems to be okay - the HDD utility files are still available but I cannot create new recovery disks and it is not possible to boot into HDD utility tool.
Do you have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance and regards
Danny

Hi
The story is strange
Im wondering why you are not able to boot from the Recovery disk?
Did you use the created recovery disk in the past or did you try this disk for the first time?
However, regarding the error message: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
I googled for that and it seems that this could be related to memory fault.
Possibly one of the modules malfunctions.
Of course this is just an personal opinion
If an HDD folder is available on your HDD, then there is a small chance to get the HDD recovery to work. Here a interesting thread:

  • Satellite L300-110 - How to recover without loosing data on the HDD?

    Hello all
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-110
The question is how can I recover my laptop with the recovery DVD without lose any data located in the hard disk drive?

    Hello
A recovery installation from the recovery disk without loosing data on the HDD isnt possible. If you use the Toshiba recovery disk the whole HDD will be formatted so you must backup the data first.
The only way I know is to use the HDD recovery function in the advanced boot menu. The HDD recovery function formats only the first partition of the notebook and all data that you have stored on the second partition are available after recovery.

  • Satellite A350-12D - How to recover from recovery DVD?

    Hey!
Recently i purchased a Toshiba A350 disc. I've format both the discs and went with a clean sweap install of windows vista. Now, a few months later i want to use the Toshiba Recovery Discs i made on the first startup, to recover my Toshiba laptop and set it back to the default installation.
With the tool to create Toshiba Recovery Discs, i had to make 2 recovery discs. The first DVD contains the Windows installation, and the 2nd DVD contains SWM files.
I started the recovery by putting recovery disc 1 in my DVD player and boot it up. After boot it installed Windows Vista, and it never asked for DVD2. After the installation, I have a clean Windows Vista, but no Toshiba pre installed drivers, software etc.
How can I recover my laptop to the default settings, the way i bought it?
    thnx for ur awnser,
    sincerely, Frank

    Hi
Usually the Toshiba Recovery disk should contain the image.
The image is the package which contains the Vista, Toshiba drivers/tools and the additional software.
The Toshiba Recovery disk Creator can create the Recovery disk using the image on the notebook and therefore its not understandable for me and I cannot believe why you get only clean Vista without the Toshiba drivers and tools and 3rd party software.
You did everything right. In order to recover the notebook, you have to boot from Recovery disk and have to follow the instruction on the screen.
    Thats all.
PS: I the drivers and tools are really missing then you could download it from here:

  • Satellite A40-210 - How to recover XP but disk turns out to run Windows 98?

Ok, I've got a dinausour: Satellite A40-210 But hey, it ran just fine until an antivirus wiped out something crucial (or at least that's what I think), as Windows is no longer able to startup.
Now the error is given: system32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys is unavailable or broken.
I still got my recovery-disks (all 3 of them)
    1: tools&utilities CD-Rom
    2:product recovery CD-Rom 1
    3:product recovery CD-Rom 2
Nr 1 is not responding as reboot and the Product recovery CD-Rom 1 turns out to "recover" Windows 98.
Thing is, I would like to recover at least photos and some documents and whenever possible: get to use it again with all the programes etc that were installed on the hard-disk...
    What/how to do this?
As the message of '98 frightens me: this will delete all previous info on disk.
    Help, please!

If moving the hard drive to an external enclosure is not convenient, it should be possible to use a Linux live CD to find your files and transfer them to a USB drive.
I managed this with an old laptop whose Windows 2000 installation stopped working. In that instance, it was simply a matter of booting from a Linux live CD (I used Puppy Linux, as it has modest RAM demands). Once the Linux system was up and running in RAM, it allowed me to mount the Windows partition, and to read the files and photos I wanted to recover. It also allowed me copy those files to a USB flash drive.
Easier than I expected. And meant that, with my date safely copied elsewhere, I could relax and try to repair/reinstall the Windows system.

  • NB100-12A: How to recover without a disk?

I have had my NB100 for nearly a year now and all was fine. I recently got a virus that no matter what Anti-virus I used I could not get rid of. Yesterday my notebook stopped booting into windows altogether. It will not even boot into safe mode.
I would like to do a full system recovery however I am currently travelling around the U.S and I left my recovery CD in Ireland.
So my question is Can I recover my system using a recovery partition on the HDD or is there a way to download the recovery software, copy it onto a usb key, and boot from there?
Any help is greatly appriciated, Thanks

    Hi
Im not sure if this is possible on you NB100.
Usually the HDD recovery could be started pressing F8 button (while powering on)
There you should see the option Repair my Computer. Choose this and then you should see Toshiba HDD recovery.
But note; this is procedure for common notebooks equipped with HDD recovery Im not quite sure if your NB100 support this!

Restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All of the original partitions will be restored, including the recovery partition.
If no recovery discs were created, you can obtain them from Toshiba.

  • Satellite P500 - Restart loop after using Toshiba recovery disk

    Hi,
I have got a problem recovering SATELLITE P500. I had made the recovery disks. It boots ok from the recovery disk and formats the hard drive and copies the disks to the hard drive. It then starts windows setup and reboots.
Then it goes to a loop
    1) Start up and says "Setup is preparing your computer for first use"
    2) Toshiba banner saying please wait... Finnishing installation may take several minutes. Pleae do not interupt or shutdown the computer!
    3) Windows logo
    4) Shutting down...
    5) restarts and goes to 1)
It would be great if some one could help me with this.
    Many thanks,
    Softari

    Hello
I have noticed the same on my Satellite P500 but I must say its not an issue, its absolutely normal. The notebook will restart several times (10 times or more) to finish the installation.
You must know that a lot of drivers/tools will be installed and certain restart must be done to configure everything properly.
So dont interrupt the recovery installation, just wait a little bit longer and drink a coffee. Everything happens automatically and your notebook will be reinstalled with factory settings. :)

  • Win7 recovery without recovery disks

Being a bit of a fool i ignored the "make backup disks" prompts.
Ive deleted the original windows 7 install in favour of windows 8 but after finding issues with playing certain games in win8 i would like to be able to put win7 back on it
My hard drive still has the recovery partition but pressing f11 at bios screen does nothing
is there anyway to recover my pc back to the original setup without recovery disks?
    This question was solved.

    Hello Dundeemanny:
Sorry you need to use recovery disks and I belive F-10 or F-12 are recovery keys. It will tell you in the blue window when you first turn on your computer. When you installed Windows 8 it wipes out everything. That was why you had issues playing games. Because it wiped out your orginal drivers. HP hasn't developed the drivers for windows 8. I hope you made a set if not they do not cost much from HP's Parts store. The ones you get from store have every thing more disks come with the set. F-2 is bios F-8 is safe mode. Please click on Kudos if this resolves your issue. Thank you frrw.

  • Satellite Pro 2100; How to recover additional software without recovery CD?

How can I recover the bundled WinDVD and Drag'n Drop CD software for my Satellite Pro 2100 without the recovery disk?
    Message was edited by: yirms

This is not possible because this additional software is not available on the Toshiba download page why?
Because this is not a Toshiba software but software from 3rd party manufacturers.
This software is bundled with Recovery disk and can be used only with your notebook!
I think this has something to do with the licence issues

  • How to recover Satellite A100 without recovery disk

    Hi All,
I am trying to restore my A100 laptop to factory settings *without* a recovery CD via pressing a sequence of keys while booting (which should fire up the recovery partition located on the hard drive).
The truly sad thing is, I know this can be done as I have done it before butI can't for the life of me remember what that key sequence was nor can I find the article that I initially stumbled on!
I have scoured the web looking for this key sequence and all suggested solutions I came across don't seem to work.
    Failed attempts so far:
    - holding down 0 when powering up
    - various suggested "F" keys: F1, F8, F10
    - holding down delete
Note: I guess it may be worth mentioning that pressing F8 does in fact take me to the "advanced windows boot options" screen however I don't have any recovery options.
So yeh, I would *hugely* appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction here as it's driving me insane... the fact that I have done this before makes it that much worse!

As far as I know the A100 series has not been equipped with the HDD recovery partition!
And therefore I doubt that any key combination will start the recovery from partition!
Therefore you only chance to recover the notebook is taking the recovery disk and then to boot from it.
You can also try to install the OS from Microsoft Windows disk and then could install the Toshiba drivers from the Toshiba driver website!
    Cheers

  • How to install Vista on Satellite A300 without recovery disk?

Please I'm in desperate need of help,
My brother purchased new Toshiba A300-23E in Saudi Arabia. He has little knowledge of computers.
It was on the display threre.
He sent it to my father in Pakistan but soon noticed that it was full of virues and he fresh installed Windows xp SP2 after formating hard drive.
He gave that to me for fixing the problem. As it is designed for windows vista. I want to install windows vista but i havent got the recovery disk or any operating disk.
How am i suppose to install windows vista?
Somebody told me that i download vista trail version and enter the key which is on the back of my laptop.
    Anybody having any idea. plz

    > He sent it to my father in Pakistan but soon noticed that it was full of virues and he fresh installed Windows xp SP2 after formating hard drive.
This was a big mistake buddy
The recovery disk was not shipped with the notebook because there was an preinstalled tool called Toshiba recovery disk creator which allows you to create an own recovery disk.
But this is not possible since the HDD has been formatted and all files have been deleted.
Now you would not be able to recover the unit even using the HDD recovery since the files are not available on HDD.
You need a recovery disk and you can order it from here:

    Hi,
Here's an alternative option you can use.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the  same version that originally came with your notebook - ie Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.
