Satellite L555-D- 7005

Turned machine on, got black and white screen stating boot failure...press (key) to reformat and reset to factory default. Did that...Restarted machine and looked ok. Attempted to run MS Word, asked for key. Entered key which was on the bottom of machine, came back as invalid key. Turned machine off. Couple of days later, turned it on and now a black screen-no response from keyboard. Couple days later - today - turned machine on, black screeen no help with "0" or F keys. Did that a couple of times and it finally booted up.
Not being that familiar with current tech...any guess what's going on.....and why didi restore wipe out all the programs that were installed at time of purchase and replace programs with something other than the original programs that do not acknowledge the "key" from date of purchase?
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi First thing: that is not a valid model number which can be found on the botton of your lap top. Next  thing; when you restore back to factory setting, the computer is restored back like it was the first day you turned it on. Any thing you added will be gone. Windows up dates will need to be installed. Did you purchase MS word?
Dokie!!
I Love my Satellite L775D-S7222 Laptop. Some days you're the windshield, Some days you're the bug. The Computer world is crazy. If you have answers to computer problems, pass them forward.

  • Connect Satellite L555 to older Emerson TV

Is it possible to connect my L555 laptop to an older Emerson TV? Appears the laptop has a VGA output port and the TV has seperate S-Video & S-Audio ports?

The Satellite L555-12V for example support an RGB (VGA out ) external monitor output.
This means that you can connect an external monitor to this notebook.
Furthermore the notebook supports HDMI out port (not sure if your notebook support the HDMI as well) but HDMI port can be used to connect an LCD, plasma or LED TV to the notebook.
But the old TV cannot be connected to the HDMI port so you will need to use the VGA out port. I think you will need a kind of adapter to get the video out on TV.
Search in the internet for *VGA and S-Video Adapter-Cable.*
    You will need such part.

  • Satellite L555-S7008 - cant install Intel Storage Manager for Win XP

I have installed XP on my laptop.
Everything works fine except that I cant put it into Ahci mode.
I Installed xp under compatability mode because I am supposed to be able to install the sata drivers by running Intel Storage Manager.
I have tried the version on this website as well as one from Intel, and they both stop with the error
"Your computer is not does not meet the minimum requirements for this software".
I have also gathered that I can extract the drivers from this package, and install them manually,
however when i try, it say drivers extracted successfully, yet nothing is extracted.
Can someone please help me get the Storage manager to install so I can run Ahci mode.

    Hi
Satellite L555-S7008 belongs to the Toshiba US series.
You have to download the drivers from the Toshiba US driver page:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp
There is a Intel Storage Manger:
Intel Matrix Storage Manager for Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64)(v8.9.0.1023; 10-23-2009; 4.25M)
You will need to set SATA to AHCI before including this to the Win XP setup.

  • Satellite L555-10N display wont turn off after 10min on non-usage

    Hi,
I've recently acquired a Satellite L555-10N notebook, which until now turned out to be a good choice.
I have a little problem, though:
In my Energy preferences, I set the time at which the display should turn off to 10 minutes, if the notebook is not in use.
Although this worked fine for the last days and weeks, the display now won't shut down at all.
I have not made any changes to drivers or BIOS or whatsoever.
I remember changing some preferences at the ecoUtility-Setup to enable it.
At that point, I got a message that some preferences would have to be changed in order to enable the feature and I agreed.
I could not notice any changes that were made, but from that point on, the display wont turn off any more.
I would very much appreciate your help!
    Thanks!

    Hi
    Which OS you are using?
For Vista and Windows 7 I have founded a good article about the settings in Windows Power Management:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm
Furthermore you can change the settings for every profile. That means you have to choose the Turn off the display function for this power profile that you use or every profile if I use all of them.
    Check this!!!

  • Satellite L555-12V - Touchpad doesn't using Win 7 64bit

I bought the laptop with Windows 7 home premium.
Then I installed Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and my touchpad doesnt work anymore.
I tried everything. I have the original drivers for 64 bit
When I make the auto detecting on the Toshiba page it shows me that I have a Satellite A200-17O. :/
    Sorry for my English :D
    mfg

So what notebook do you have exactly?
    Satellite L555 or Satellite A200-17O?
Did you check the device manager if the touchpad would appear as unknown device or as installed devices with an yellow exclamation mark??
I think its driver related issue but from my knowledge the touchpad should work and you should be able to use it even the drivers have not been installed.
Did you check if the touchpad is not disabled? Check it using the option FN+F9

  • Toshiba Satellite L555 freezing up! (Tech Head Challenge) Please Help!

It's been happening lately. My Toshiba Satellite(windows 7 home permium 64 bits) has been freezing up with multiple, thin, multi-colored lines with a noise similar to when a sound track on a CD sticks or freezes and no mouse response or any kind of response at all. I have to press and hold the power botton and force it to shut down. I noticed it does this more often when I try to play a video game, virus scan, video call on Skype and less frequently on youtube (youtube might just be a coincidence). Sometimes after the computer restarts and I virus scan or Skype then I have no problems. I think it happens when I virus scan or skype when I have both multiple firefox and google chrome windows open at once but I cannot be sure. I've tested the theory a few times but it's inconclusive however I am confident that virus scans or video game are most likely to trigger the freeze even if they are the only thing I have open on the screen.
Sometimes I get that message in the blue box that says "Windows is shutting down to prevent damage to your computer....." The strange thing is that after I force it to shut down if I try to restart it immidiately then it will boot. All the lights will come on except the orange one in the left hand corner, the screen does not come on and windows does not load. If I leave it for 30  minutes or sometimes less after it crashed then it will restart .The funny thing is that I had this problems about 8 months ago when I tried playing a video game called A.V.A. About 2 minutes into play it would freeze with the same noise I mentioned earlier.I repeatedly tried to play the game and it happened every single time and everytime I force shut down the laptop and try to restart it right after then windows will not load and the orange light does not come on. I removed the game and reinstalled it and I never had that problem again.Since I got the laptop it has randomly restarted like 4 times and I've had it for about 1 year and 2 months but now it is just freezing up (mostly) or I get that message in the blue box. At around April of this year the game stopped working. I keep getting error reports when I try to reinstall it and my windows no longer recongnized the digital signature of the company that made the game.
I'm not sure if it's overheating,I have a hard drive or motherboard problem or if it's a software problem. I've tried:
    System Restore
    Defrag
    Disc Clean up
Non of these have helped. I've also tried using SeaTool for Windows to try to look for errors in my hard drive and it has not found any. I've also done that thing where Windows, with the black screen and white text, check through your files for errors and corrupted stuff but that report says that it hasn't found any errors at all. My computer has no slow down in performance that I can notice. It doesn't take long to start up nor does it take long to shut down. I don't get random error reports or anything like that. It works fine except for the freezing bit.
The fan seems to be working just fine and the latop doesn't get that hot. Sometimes it freezes when it's barely warm to the touch and other times it would be significantly warmer but it would not freeze even if I have multiple firefox and googlechrome windows open. Before all of this when my game was working I use to play for hours with the exhaust at the side significantly heating up the desk and the computer would run perfectly without problems except that brief period I mentioned earlier where the game froze 3 minutes in to actually playing the game, reinstalled it and solved the problem. Yesterday it froze on me while I was on skpye and today it froze on me about 5 minutes after windows log in on youtube without the computer getting hot, just barely warm. I just don't get it!
I've try using a vaccum to clean the vents without opening the computer. I've removed and reinserted my memory just incase they were loose and I've also removed and reinserted the hard drive to be sure that it was in properly and that has not stopped the problem either.
N.B. I did do a virus scan with a trial version of Kaspersky Pure that I installed less than a month ago and it does say that I have a virus called "virus heur trojan.script.iframer" and a medium and high risk events. I've tried to remove or quarantine them but nothing happens and when I scan again with Kaspersky Pure or Kaspersky Virus removal tool they find no viruses BUT the trojan report is still there with the option of removing and quanrantine.
As I've said before I've seen no slow down in performance and it works just fine except for the freezing and the blue box message. The only noticeable problem is that both firefox and googlechrome have been just a little, little bit buggy in that sometimes I would have to close down a window and reopen it again because the pages were not loading but that's only on Facebook and a few other websites and I thnk that's because of my internet connection. As I said, I've gotten no random error reports, not from windows 7 or my browser.
    Please help!

It sounds sort of like it could be related to overheating, but on the other hand, you specifically said that it doesn't always feel warm. If you're okay with backing up your files, you might want to perform a full recovery back to factory default conditions. At that point, you'd at least know whether it was due to hardware or software.

  • Satellite L555-10T - Can't connect mobile phone or other BT device

Im having the same problem. I have bought a L555-10T but I cant connect to any phone or any other bt device. Not even a headset or simpel hp pda.
Is reinstalling the bluetooth files the only sollution? Cause BT was build in this win 7 64 machine. Its kinda weird to have to repair something that was deliverd with the laptop.

Which color has your Bluetooth system tray icon (it should be blue/white) ?
If it is blue/red, then check if you have really Bluetooth inside.

  • Satellite L555-10R Connect with TV

    Hi there,
What kind of cable do i need to connect my laptop with the television?

    Hi Dion,
I think its depending on the connector which cable you need... For example you can use a HDMI cable because it has the best picture quality and can transfer audio signal too.
You can get a HDMI cable from everywhere. Just search a little bit through Internet or ask your favorite computer shop.
Furthermore you should connect the cable firstly before you power on both devices. Using FN+F5 key combination you can switch too external monitor or TV. :)

  • Satellite L555-S7001 fps Problems

I have just recently purchased this laptop, which I already love! but what I dont understand is when I go to play World of Warcraft my fps (frames per second) is as low as 10. It doesnt lag, it seems to load the game fast, it's just that with the low fps it's really choppy. could someone please help me out with this problem? Do I need to buy a better graphics card or can I go somewhere in my system and change some settings? Please answer as soon as possible because I would TRUELY appreciate it.

Not sure where you're located.  But, call around to every Office Depot within reasonable driving distance and ask about the A505-S6986.  It's a very capable laptop (mid-range, I run Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, Star Wars Force Unleashed, on high without issue).  They just recently had these on clearance for $599.  I'm not regretting taking the A505-S6025 back to Best Buy and getting this one.  With the money I saved, I put in a Hitachi 7200rpm drive and upgraded the OS to Win 7 Pro.  Great machine!

  • Re: Windows 8 constant BSOD

Hello friends. I am having a major problem with my bootcamp partition. I just installed windows 8 as an upgrade from windows 7 after a successful installation. However, when i booted up the partition it gives me the BSOD error almost every time i boot up. It lets you use for 2 minutes and then immediately BSOD. I cannot install bootcamp drivers because it keeps crashing. Can someone help me? I am using a mid 2010 macbook pro 13 inch. I do know that it is not officially supported but my friend managed to install on his 13 inch mid 2010 mbp as well. Thank you!

    Hi
One very important point is that your Satellite L555 is not officially Win 8 supported.
    What does this means?
This means that there are no Toshiba Win 8 drivers for this series.
But this does not mean that you cannot use the Win 8.
You can install the Win 8 and can use it if you purchased the Microsoft licence
    Regarding the drivers:
Well you will need to search drivers at your own hand and in some cases Win 7 drivers can be installed on Win 8 system
