Satellite L630-107 - Speakers produce tiny voice

I bought my new Satellite L630-107 few days ago, it has really nice features. But what stop me are the speakers. They produce very tiny voice even with the volume is maximum and the sound is very sharp and sorry to say is bad. Even when I compare it to my mobile phone the result is amazing. The small phone speaker is better than the laptop speakers.
This is disappointing, i didn't expect such thing from famous company like Toshiba. I want solution for this.

Hi
Go to Control Panel and then click on Audio Devices and Sound Themes.
Here you would find speakers and other audio options.
In audio output (playback) device click Properties.
Please check the volume level control level for all devices which would appear in Playback.
You can also click right on the speaker icon in the task bar.
Then a small widow would appear where you could choose the first option; open sound mixer.
There you could set all volume controls to max.
However, you should not expect too much; L series is not a multimedia notebook

  • Bluetooth turns ON booting Ubuntu on Satellite L630

    I'm using Toshiba Satellite L630-107 (PSK04E).
I installed ubuntu on it but whenever i boot ubuntu my blutooth gets turned on automatically.
When i turn off blutooth from the settings, its not getting turn off.. only way i can turn off blutooth is by booting into windows and using FN key...
Due to this problem i'm getting only one and a half hour battery backup when using Ubuntu and in windows i'll get around 3 hours..
Can anyone help me to solve this problem... pls.

    Hi there
I do not have a perfect answer for You but maybe some information and some hints.
First - I doubt that the battery run time is so hard affected by the Bluetooth setting.
For sure, it consumes power, but not that much that it will reduce your run time by 50%. No way.
Instead, there can be other drivers which are not putting their devices to sleep properly or similar issues.
If you are using an old Ubuntu, You should try a later version because many changes are made to the Kernel and subsystems in regards of power-management.
Especially "older" Kernels could drain battery power quite fast. Do not remember which version was affected, but I believe it was 3.0 -> 3.2 or so.
We are now at 3.6 - 3.7 depending on the level of anxiety that You can stand :)
If a later Ubuntu does not help, You may want to try another distro. Different distros tweak the kernels differently and will use services differently. So You may want to boot up on a live media of Fedora (which I am using), OpenSuse or some other recent distro which is NOT built upon the same "base" as Ubuntu.
If that does not help out, and to tweak power-consumption, You may want to try POWERTOP.
It is a cool program which lets You tweak setting for devices which consumes much power and just do nothing.
It is a console-based app so it may not be for everyone.
Looking at the Bluetooth switch - if no distro will allow you to choose if the BT should be on or off, you may want to file a bug to your distro's bug-reporting system.
This may then be resolved after having done some communicating with the maintainers. Hopefully :)
    But don't give up!

  • Satellite M30-107 does not boot correctly after Recovery disk usage

    Hi
I've recently got hold of a second hand toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop, and decided to freshen it up.
I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after doing so the laptop no longer loads windows.
When turned on it shows the Toshiba start up disk for about a second then goes to a blank screen and freezes.
When turned off and on again a screen comes up reporting an error in shutting down and gives the options to start in safe mode etc. but choosing any of the options causes the machine to freeze.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
Sounds a little bit like the notebook does not boot due to the Windows software issue
Did you recover the M30 with the original Toshiba recovery CD which was supplied with this M30 unit?
Maybe Im wrong but for me it looks like a wrong recovery CD was used and an image with non compatible drivers was installed
You could try to install the OS from original Microsoft Win XP CD and could check if it would be possible to get the notebook ruining using clean OS.
In such case we ( you and me ;) ) could find out if this issue could be related to the software or hardware.
    Bye

Yesterday at Saturn Salzburg bought the notebook.
It has on the bottom a PRO Windows 8 label.

Windows has muddled up the the Pro version after Win 8.1 update.
Can not join domain, as I expect from a PRO version actually.
How do I get the original Pro version again?
The label does so, that there must have been a Pro license.
How do I get the licenses number?

Hi I am looking for the Windows 8.1 (64 bit) driver for the display adapter on my Satellite L630-12C SYSTEM UNIT. The part number of the laptop is PSK04E-01W00FIT. The display adapter is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145 made by AMD. I have searched for the driver both the Toshiba and the AMD website but couldn't find anything that worked. Does a driver exists for this adapter for Windows 8.1 (64 bit) or do I have to roll back to Windows 7? I would greatly appreciate your help in this mattter. Thanks Hussain

  • Linux not being install on Satellite L630

    Hey everyone,
    Can you please help me?
I am trying to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 in my Laptop i.e, Toshiba Satellite L630, and I am getting the error, It is asking for the driver disk, I have tried with the DVD and bootable pendrive, and I've also updated the BIOS of my system, but still the same problem.
    Plzzzzzzzz Help..........

    Hi there!
Are You sure about the version?
RHEL 6.0 seems not to be the current release? Maybe it is an outdated release?
    Current RHEL is 6.3.
What exactly is the installation asking? Please be exact since it makes things a lot clearer.
Also please specify which steps in the installation that You have passed.
BTW - is there a special reason for using RHEL 6.0?
    Thanks!

  • Satellite M30-107: WPA and WEP security software

I wish to connect my Satellite M30-107 P-M 745 to an up-to-date MIMO G+ wifi network.
I have bought a router and PCMCIA adapter card.
I wish to set-up WPA and WEP security - do I need any special Toshiba software on the PC itself to do this, or do I just use the software that came with the Router and adapter card?
    Thanks

    Hi
First of all you cannot both Wlan encryption WPA and WEP together.
You can use either WPA or WEP. I would recommend using WPA because its safer.
I agree with Barrie. If you want to use one of this encryption you should be sure that the WLan card and the router support this features.
In my knowledge most of the newer Wlan routers supports WEP and WPA. In this case you have only check the WLan card if the option is available or not.
By the way: You don't need any special software to set the encryptions.
You can set the encryptions also in the Windows own WLan configuration area.

  • Satellite C850D-107 - Game Recommendations

Hello, I'm looking for a couple of game recommendations for my laptop. I have the Satellite C850D-107. It has:
    - AMD Dual-Core E1-1200 APU with AMD Radeon HD 7310 Graphics
    - Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
    - 4GB RAM
    - 640GB hard drive
I've got Battlefield Bad Company 2 which works extremely well on it, and a couple of the older Total War games. I'm looking for something that has simialr specs to Battlefield in the form of another shooter or driving game. Would any of these work:
    - Ghost Recon Advanced warfighter 1 or 2
    - Silent Hunter 4
    - any of the newer star wars games e.g. Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy
Thanks to anyone who can help out
    Pete

Yeah I thought that but I know how to use a computer but not how it works and with the variations in specs it's a bit mind boggling. Anyway I've got a couple of cheap games off Amazon - star wars battlefront 1 & 2, plus I've rediscovered a couple of the Total War games - Rome and Medieval 2 so I think I'm set now.
    Thanks for the responses.

  • Satellite M40-107: Can not re-install Powersaver - Code 0x7E

Recently i had to re-install Windows Xp on my Satellite M40-107 DU (PSM40E). Everything went fine. At last I wanted to install the powersaver and I downloaded the latest version for my machine from the Toshiba web-site. Installing goes fine untill I press complete installation (voltooien).
A pop-up screen appears withe the message: Fatal error, this program will be ended. Code 0x7E.
After restarting the same message appears untill the powersaver is removed from the run tray.
    Who can help?
    regards
    @b

    Hi
It seems that there is no generally solution for this issue.
I have found and read some postings about the similar issue and it seems that the Toshiba recovery CD installation will eliminate the popup of this error message.

  • Satellite P845t-107 - Linux kernel doesn't boot at all

    Hi!
I recently bought my first Toshiba notebook -> Satellite P845t-107.
Sadly I have a very big problem with it: None of my emergency tools is working.
So I won't have any chance to rescue data from the HD when Windows is broken and I can't search for viruses from a clean system.
    All these tools are Linux-based.
In all the years I'm already using such tools I never had such problems with all of the dozens of computers where I had to use that.
I already tried to get help in Linux forums.
They had several ideas but none of them worked. GRUB boots (because UEFI-compatible and secure boot is off).
But after I select the kernel settings to boot with, it gets stuck in a very early stage without any error message.
Obviously Toshiba makes something very very different than other computer manufacturers.
So please tell me how I can make my emergency tools make working again.
    Thank you!
    notting

The fact you're even getting to GRUB implies you've already unset UEFI boot but I don't make assumptions about the millions of possible LINUX boot and kernel combinations such as the one you didn't spend time describing
UBCD, Hirren and other popular booters are choking more often on the AdvancedFormat drives, most have been updated but their free open source origins results in cross conflicted and frequently unqualified "solutions" and reposts of "fixes" untested by the whatever member on someother followatyourownrisk.com server.
Whether I'm using some purposed repair disc, a LIVE booter of the latest Mint or booting an obsolete 10.x Ubu LINUX from a USB drive, I'm always accessing the AF drive after choosing CSM / "compatibility" in the CMOS UEFI and occasionally fiddling the SATA controller AHCI choices
Your observation about Toshiba uniqueness is pertinent about gaining CMOS access at boot since some models ( I still can't find an authoritative list ) ship with locked BIOS at boot until the Widows TVAP utility is first launched even if it doesn't change anything.
I've personally experienced as much by clamping a death grip onto an unboxed Satellite F12 and F2 before inserting the battery and power cord and every time access to the BIOS isn't granted until Windows is booted and TVAP launches.
Their are minor references to this requirement in the support pages fine print quickly followed with protective legal warnings that sully the overall message.

  • Satellite L630: unsupported bios message while installation of ECO Uti

    Hello everybody ,
anyone can help me to solve this problem ?
I have Satellite L630. After installing new OS and all the drivers during the install of the Eco utility it gives me this "unsupported bios"
    What can i do?
Note : I've updated the bios to the last VERSION

    Hello
As far as I know not all Satellite L630 were delivered with Eco utility so maybe you have model that was delivered without it.
Please dont worry about this Eco utility. If you cannot install it is not so important. Instead of Eco utility you can use Power saver plan in power settings and switch between power plans quickly using FN+F2 key combination.
    Bye and good luck.

  • Changing wireless card in Satellite L630

    Hi,
I recently bought a Satellite L630, which has a Realtek 8172 (or possibly an 8191SE; I can't tell from the PCI ID) wireless chipset.
I installed a 64 bit version of Linux on it, and there seems to be a complete lack of driver support for the wireless card.
The only available driver from Realtek is a binary blob and crashes my whole system when I try to load it.
I have a Intel 4965AGN miniPCI wireless card lying around that I know works very well under Linux, and I want to switch that wireless card with the Realtek card if possible. First though, I need a few questions answered:
    1. Does the Satellite L630 use a miniPCI slot for the wireless card?
    2. Approximately where on the motherboard is the wireless card located? (I can't find any internal diagrams of the L630 anywhere)
    3. If I do this, will it void my warranty?
    Thanks for your help!
    Nick

    Hi
As far as I know the WLan card is placed under the keyboard.
On some notebook models the Wlan card is placed at the bottom of the unit and other notebook models contain the Wlan card under the keyboard.
So you would need to remove only the keyboard in order to get access to WLan card.
In order to remove the keyboard you will need to remove the thin plastic keyboard cover which is placed above the F1-F12 button row.
There are 10 or 11 latches one on the right an left and four or five at the bottom and at the top. After you have removed the thin cover, you would need to remove the two screws securing the keyboard. Then disconnect the keyboard cable carefully from motherboard connector.
    But be careful mate

  • Satellite L630 dead after BIOS update

    Hi
I have a problem with a Toshiba Satellite Laptop L630 model PSK00E-017019EN (UK model).
A Toshiba software scan recommended a BIOS update and as I had been having some issues with the laptop I decided to let it run . . . bad mistake!
The laptop will now not fire up into bios so is effectively dead.
I have downloaded various versions of the Phoenix Crisis Recovery Disk (which will build a bootable USB flash drive with MINIDOS.SYS, PHLASH16.EXE and a generic BIOS.WPH) and have also downloaded the latest BIOS from the toshiba website.
The downloaded Toshiba BIOS is an exe file SL630_L635_WIN_B140.exe which will extract to the following files using WINRAR (I have also tried picking up the files from %temp% after running the exe file with the same result).
    The files I get are:
    BB10140.FD (4170kb)
    Ding.wav (104kb)
    InsydeFlash.exe (764kb)
    iscflash.dll (1760kb)
    iscflash.sys (14kb)
    iscflashx64.sys (23kb)
    and platform.ini (9kb)
I was expecting to see the actual bios in the form xxxx.rom or xxxx.WPH so that I could add this to the bootable flash drive to reflash the bios.
So my actual question is, could someone point me towards where I can download the correct BIOS.ROM file for this laptop and also where I can obtain the correct version of Phoenix Crisis Recovery Disk software.
Also could you confirm the correct key sequence to boot to the Crisis Recovery flash drive . . . I have seen mention of both FN F and FN B (both used without battery and whilst plugging in adapter and then power button) . . . the FN F routine seems to boot the Flash drive but obviously without the correct WPH file it will not solve the problem.
    Thanks
    Phil

    OK
.... well contacting Toshiba support was about as much using as whistling in the wind!
They had no knowledge of reflashing the bios, certainly could not send me an image for a crisis disk (even for a charge) . . . and their only suggestion was to have the laptop picked up for assessment and quote which would cost nearly 100 even if I didnt have it repaired. (I doubt if the laptop is worth much more than that)
So back to the forums in the hope that someone might point me to the correct USB Flash drive flashing routine for this laptop!
I have a feeling that the bootblock might now be damaged on the BIOS as it is now behaving differently if I try to flash the bios.
If I put the correct "bios.fd" file on a USB stick and then use FN-F on power up (no battery installed) then the usb stick flashes once, machine powers up, stays on for about 10 seconds and then restarts back to the black screen.
I have also tried (as suggested on one forum) putting all of the extracted files from the bios exe from Toshiba onto a stick + the FD file renamed as BIOS.FD . . . still the same result.
I am close to sticking it onto Ebay as "spares or repairs" . . . HELP!
    thanks
    Phil

  • Satellite A200-27R Integrated microphone for Voice over IP

The product description (see excerpt below) for a Satellite A200-27R states that the A200-27R has an Integrated microphone for Voice over IP. I have not been able to access this(e.g. with Skype, Live Messenger, Control Panel) nor is there any sign of it externally on the computer. The Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab says Microphone Realtek High Definition Audio not plugged in.
How do I set up and use the Integrated microphone for voice over IP?

    HD Audio support
    Microsoft® Windows® HotStart? for instant-on entertainment
Multimedia Bar with 6 Easy Keys (Internet Browser, CD/DVD launcher, Play/Pause, Stop, Rewind, Forward)

    Hi
The built-in microphone depends on the webcam.
As far as I know the Satellite A200-27R PSAE3E was not equipped with internal webcam and therefore the internal mic is not available.
Try to use an external headset with mic or only the single mic.
