Satellite L630-10R won't boot up - video illustration

Hello, Raph, I'm french,
I had to clean the fan on a Toshiba L630-10R so i disassembled and clean it.
Re-assemble and all worked perfectly.
I transported the laptop in my backpack in order to return it to his owner.
But arrived at destination, no screen.
Just a serie of leds, see my video :
http://youtu.be/Tqe-yNCla4U
I tried with the technic to push power button 60 seconds without battery/ac adapter.
I tried to push backspace 5minutes (i saw it on a forum)
finally i disassembled and reassembled again, but same result !
Please help me :)

this does not look very good buddy I cannot say for sure whats wrong here but I guess something has been damage during the fan cleaning procedure.
I guess you have no many options to get I fixed.
What you could do is to remove the memory modules and check if one of the modules has been damaged. It could be also possible that the CPU was affected cleaning the cooling module.

  • Satellite L630-10R - Won't boot and blue screen

    Hi everyone,
I recently bought this laptop that had everything to satisfy me, unfortunately, I've been encountering a problem since yesterday night and I want to try everything reasonable before bringing it back to guarantee.
I was using the computer quite casually (online games, web browsing, VoIP mostly) when it decided to shutdown and reboot. Now, everytime I try to boot windows, even in safe mode, I get a blue screen as soon as I've entered my password. The same problem happens when trying to run in safe mode.
I thought it could just be a really aggressive and efficient virus and thought it was well deserved, knowing I hadn't installed an antivirus yet. So I burned an Ubuntu liveCD on another computer and tried to recover my data from there, but to no avail : Ubuntu won't start either, instead it just gives me some kind of memdump or stacktrace (at least I guess it is, because it's got hexadecimal addresses and what looks like function names)
I'm kinda stuck and I really don't understand what could have caused this. Any idea would be appreciated. An error code that showed up when trying to boot windows, but that does not _always_ show up, is something along the lines of *DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL*
    Thanks in advance,
    shin

    Hi,
sorry for the late reply, I was busy this week end but I finally solved my problem on sunday in the evening by updating the BIOS from the 1.4 version to the 1.7 version using a bootable CD. No more blue screen when starting windows and no more problem with Ubuntu either (which I had been able to run in the meantime with the "noacpi" option.)
I wasn't able to find the recovery CD like you suggested, I'm not even sure it was in the box - then again, I'm not the most tidy person in the world and it could be anywhere in the room as far as I know...), but thank you anyway for taking the time to reply. =)

  • Satellite A205-S5804 won't boot.

My computer Satellite A205-S5804 won't boot.
It won't run on safe mode, and it won't run the system restore.
It remains black with a cursor, if anything at all.
How do I get my computer back on?

    Hi
Youve got a cursor which is flashing in the upper left corner?
In such case you should check of the HDD has been recognized by BIOS!
If the HDD is listed in BIOS then I would recommend checking the HDD using the drives fitness test:
    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm
To run the drives fitness test you must download the appropriate creator or image and create a self-booting media.
    Check it!

  • Satellite L40 18P won't boot anymore

    Hello folks,
my Satellite L40 18P won't boot anymore. All I get is the Power LED to go green. The DVD ROM drive blinks and I can open and close it - but that's it. Nothing else happens.
Any idea in the forum what I can do to get the notebook boot again ? Or please ask questions for additional details.
    many thanks, Johi 13

    Hi,
    wow, that was fast.
No, I can't see anything - the screen stays black. I do not hear the HDD start, neither do I hear the fan.
This behavior appeard for the first time yesterday evening.
Last activity was (if I remember correctly) closing the lid and sending the notebook to standby.
So far, I haven't tested it with an external monitor.
    thanks, Johi13

  • Satellite Pro A10 won't boot up - Where to get the disks

I have a Satellite Pro A10 which currently won't boot up Windows (XP) as it says
The following file is corrupt or damaged:
    C:\Windows\System32\Config\System
The Tools & Utilities CD-Rom which came with my laptop has unfortunately been scratched and won't boot.
I have the two System Recovery Disks, which are fine.
    My questions:
    1. Is it possible to purchase a replacement Tools & Utilities CD-Rom?
    2. If so, where from?
    3. Is there a way of restoring my laptop without having to completely reinstall everything and lose all my files?
    Thanks

    Regarding the point;
    a) Usually it should be possible to order the Tools & Utilities CD-Rom but I ask why?
    b) You can purchase the CD from the ASP in your country
    c) The older recovery CD supports an expert mode. You can use this mode to choose the partition where the OS should be installed. In such case only this partition will be formatted.
But listen dude. You dont need to order the Tools & Utilities CD because on this CD you will find only the Toshiba drivers which can be downloaded from the Toshiba page too.

  • Satellite L850-161 won't boot from recovery disk

When I got the laptop in 2012 I created 4 recovery disks but since then i've had my HDD replaced in my SATELLITE L850-161 but it has the recovery partition with nothing in it and the laptop won't boot from disk either so I can't format it but really need to, any suggestions??

If you have 4 recovery discs be sure you start installation with disc number 1. After HDD exchange you should be able to use created recovery discs for recovery image installation.
Does some other bootable disc starts properly?
To be honest I dont understand how new HDDD can contain recovery partition that will be created if recovery image installation works.
Problem is that in such situation you dont have many options. In worst case you can order original recovery disc for your machine.

  • Satellite Pro A10 won't boot (HDD seems to be missing)

Hello, I hope someone can give me some advice on this problem: I have a 2 year old Satellite Pro A10. Recently it won't boot at all and I notice that if i look at the directories in the C: drive using the command prompt it says 'file not found'. Can't start Windows at all, not even in Safe Mode.
Using the recovery disks doesn't help either I get messages like No such fixed Disk and 'Extraction Failed'.
    does this mean I have:
    1 A damaged hard disk
    2. Faulty connections to the HDD? - if so how do I rectify this?
the system didn't crash before this happened, it failed to load up when I started it.
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Scl

Jeffery and Ivan25 are correct in HDD malfunction. Try and remove and reattach the HDD and see if BIOS sees the HDD. If not you are going to need to order a replacement HDD. If BIOS does not even see the HDD then you wont even be able to install any Operating system, because there is logically nowhere to store the data being copied.
Take it to an Authorized service provider near you to have it checked out. Could also very well be the HDD Controller on the Motherboard has went bad and can not detect any HDD connected to the motherboard even if it is new and unused.

  • Satellite P775-S7375 Won't boot up

    Hello,
I have a fairly new (about 4 months old) Satellite P775-S7375 that suddenly won't boot.  When I press the power button, the lights light up and I can hear a fan run for about 3 seconds, then it shuts down.
I have tried pulling the battery, and power cable out, pressing the power button for 60 seconds, putting the power cable back in - same result.
I tired the above,  but with putting in a fully charged battery instead of the power cable - same result.  This laptop is not even getting to the intal spalsh screen or BIOS screen.  It's literally turning itself off after about 3 seconds.
Any idea on what I should try or is this a dead laptop needing to be sent back to Toshiba for service?
    Thanks!

It was the motherboard.  I shipped it back to Toshiba and they fixed it.  Unfortunately for me, their quality control is awful and they forgot to reattach the DVD drive to the case.  A tiny screw is missing. So now when I eject a CD/DVD the whole drive slides out of the bay.
After spending the better part of an hour on the phone with the support staff (which involved me being transferred to a number that was no longer working, then being transferred to a repair depot phone that said their hours were M-F 8am-8pm EST and oh, they're closed right now even though it is 11am on Monday???), I have to ship the laptop back across the country so someone can put in a $.01 screw and ship it back across the country.
I've learned my lesson about Toshiba.

  • Won't boot without video card

    Hi,
I have a PT880 Neo-LSR and am trying to run a unix OS.  This is the first time I've used a MSI board, but I've used many other boards without graphics cards since these are being used as servers.
The problem is that the OS won't boot up unless I throw a pci video card or a agp video card on the board.
Is there any way around this?  I've searched in the bios but nothing looks like the culprit. Is there a jumper?  Or is this a limitation of the board?
    Thanks,
    Bob C

I have never had a Server Board but why would you want to boot up a OS without a vidieo card...???  You should be able to post up to the point where the Beeps will let you know that no video card is present.. if a speaker is hooked up.. How you going to see what you are doing in the Bios.??? I must be Tired ....

  • Satellite C870D-12F won't boot Win8

    Hi
My Satellite won't boot (windows 8) anymore, and I'm also not able to reset to factory settings.
The harddisk is still ok if I put it in another PC I can see all the partitions.
Does anyone sees something wrong in the partition type or properties?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Kindest regards

    Hi All
No help was afforded ,so I fixed it myself!! And WITHOUT the recovery medium.
I installed windows 8.1 again from a downloaded iso (I didn't had a key for this version).
Now I had an unregisterd windows running but "Recovery back to Factory setting" was still not available.
But I was able to get the recovery partition to be recognized again with this procedure
I downloaded Visual BCD: In here I check alt the path's in the BCD store and especially if the GUID of the "Windows Recovery Environment" is the same as the one used for "recoverysequence" in your "OS loader". You can also get here the WinReBCD id (GUID), you will need this in ReAgent.xml
    A GUID looks like this: {ecca5163-d630-9447-a175-fc367f40a9e5}
Second thing: check in c:\windows\system32\recovery\Reagent.xml that
WinReBCD, ImageLocation, PBRImageLocation, DownlevelWinreLocation and OSInstallationLocation are pointing to the right "path, GUID and Offset".
+In my case ImageLocation, PBRImageLocation and DownlevelWinreLocation point to partition 1 (first on).+
    +OSInstallationLocation points to partition 6 (last one)+
    +example:+
    +<ImageLocation path="\Recovery\WindowsRE" id="0" *offset="1048576"* guid="{ecca5163-d630-9447-a175-fc367f40a9e5}"/>+

  • Satellite C655-S5128 won't boot up

Satellite C655-S5128 shut down due to low battery before we could get charger plugged in.  Now it won't boot up.  It's stuck on the Toshiba logo page that also says to press F2 or F12 for setup/boot options.  There's also a faint beeping sound we've never heard before. After a while of pushing buttons an error message popped up stating no bootable device can be found.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Satellite C655-S5128
Let's try a proper system reset, and see if this helps bring your laptop back.  Power off your system, unplug everything including the AC, remove the battery, press and hold down the power on button for 30 seconds, replace battery and AC, power on, when you see the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, then try to boot into Windows again.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.
    Mike

  • Satellite L20-260 won't boot up, everytime it freezes with no reasons

    Hi all,
I've got a sad problem with my satellite, after 3-4 days I've installed a new OS (i've tried with XP SP2 and Kubuntu) system won't boot up, everytime it freezes with no reasons, the only way is to perferom a new OS installation. Could it be an hardware problem maybe related to RAM or HDD?
    10x, Daniele.

    Hi
This is not easy to say if the problem is software or hardware related.
You should install the OS from the Toshiba recovery CD and test the functionality again
If the notebook will start freezes again immediately after recovery CD installation then it could be a hardware problem.
You could try to use the MemTest 3.5 tool.
It checks the memory for malfunction.

  • Satellite A40-231 won't boot after wrong firmware update

    Hi,
i own a toshiba satellite a40-231.it won't boot anymore because i have flashed it's dvd-rw drive(sdr-6112) with the wrong firmware and i also made a big mistake making a non-bootable active dos partition, trying to flash the correct firmware. So, my question is: can i boot from usb flash disk?i believe it's the only option i have left, if not network boot.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
As far as I know its not possible to boot from any other devices as from USB FDD / HDD / CD-ROM / LAN
You could boot from network but if you want to install the OS via LAN you will need an RIS server. But its not very easy to do it without any additional experience. So I think this option is nothing for you.
It seems the drive is dead or malfunctions and therefore the best idea is to replace the device drive. I know, its hard to hear that but I dont see any other solution

  • My Satellite C50-B won't boot from HDD

    Machine Details:-
    Model Number: PSCMLA-03F07Q
    Serial Number: XE343127P
Computer won't boot from harddrive. No error messages, just Toshiba splash screen at end of self test.
A couple of times a reinstall of the operating system seemed to correct the problem but then it would go again, now the problem is consistent.
I've narrowed down possibilities to a BIOS fault, reasons-
System boots from USB without any problems. Installing of operating systems proceeds with no errors. Harddrive SMART data reports a perfectly healthy harddrive. Memcheck returns no errors.
The obvious solution is to reload the BIOS, just resetting it achieves nothing. But here's the problem.
The updated BIOS 1.4 that the Australian website offers is a Windows program and the computer can't boot Windows.
Obvious answer is to use a bootable USB stick with a "live" operating system on it but all of these systems are Linux and the BIOS update is a Windows program. So much for intelligent solutions.
Downloaded Bios version 1.7 from European site but the iso inside that rar file is empty, 25 Mb in size but nothing in it according to Linux. Tried running it's program on a Win7 64bit computer and it returns an error that it could not find the correct iso file.
I've submitted a support request by email to Toshiba but they reckon it could take 3 days to get a reply so I thought I'd ask here as well. Can anyone please point me to a working copy of the latest BIOS update disk for a Satelite C50-B laptop? Please note - this model doesn't have a CD drive so the iso must be compatable with USB boot.
    Cheers,
    Andrew.

    OK, found the answer.
Bios was corrupted but not critically so, turns out that this laptop should never have been able to boot linux in the first place. It's only because of the corrupted bios that I got away with it a few times. Ended up getting a valid copy from a blog in Russia.
Toshiba used to be a byword for quality in the computer world but this is definately no longer the case due to poor (cheap) new quality control practices. Also it seems that Toshiba is no longer really concerned with making computers, they're more interested in selling Windows and GE Insurance Policies disguised as extended warrantees.
From now on I will definately be making sure that my customers understand the troubles they can have when buying Toshiba Laptops.
As for running Linux, I'm including this so that it will help other poor unfortunates who thought they were buying a computer instead of just a Windows platform.
The problem started with Microsoft, their proprietry MBR boot system was no longer valid in a modern world and they had to adopt the open source GPT partitioning system with UEFI boot, but in typical Microsoft fashion they couldn't stick to the widely accepted standard conventions for how the EFI boot partition should be laid out. And Toshiba is Microsoft's new "friend with benefits" so instead of sending Microsoft back to the drawing board they've rewritten their bios so that it looks for the Microsoft Win8.1 EFI boot partition and ignores all others.
The quick answer is to edit your boot partition after install and make it look like Microsoft's. Please note that you don't have to do this with other brands of computer, only Toshiba.
Here's a link with full instructions including pictures, it's written for Ubuntu but is easily adapted to almost any other operating system.

Hope that helps a few people before it gets deleted.
    Cheers,
    Andrew.

  • Satellite L355D-S7820 won't boot..

My girlfriend spilled a drink on her laptop, the L355D-S7820, and the screen wouldn't turn on, etc. I got in it and cleaned out the coke, but now it won't boot.
The toshiba logo comes up, but after that it will give all the boot options, safe mode, etc, but i can't boot and it appears to freeze up, especially if i try and repair it through the system repair, and give a long chain of beeps that never end.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Possibly, but you'll more than likely need to do it by one of two methods.
Boot to a Linux Live CD and use it to backup all of your data to an external hard drive, usb thumb drive(s), or over a network to another computer.
Take the drive out of the laptop and connect it to a different computer via a USB adaptor or an external hard drive enclosure to retrieve whatever files you can.
If neither of those options work you'll probably need to send it to a data recovery service to have the data recovered, but that can cost over a thousand dollars depending on the amount of damage to the hard drive.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.
