Satellite L650-1k5 freezing when charger plugged in

Hi,
I just bought a Toshiba L650-1k5 from a Toshiba shop with no OS on it. I put on a bought, legal Windows 7 professional X64 with all of the needed toshiba drivers. It was a week ago.
Couple of days ago the notebook started freezing for no reasons but only when the charger was plugged in. It was freezing with no software runnig, all of a sudden, When I went to control panel and device control a yellow triangle were shown but when I clicked on failure notice it did not show anything a couple of clicks later it showed that something is wrong with one of the PnP devices but nothing was mentioned. I installed sp1 and a couple of drivers again from Toshiba's website and the machine still keeps freezing with no reasons mostly when the charger plugged in?
What is going on? Should I put a x32 windows 7 on or what?
Thanx,
Tomo

Hi buddy,
I dont think that the Windows 7 64bit version is the problem: Either its software/driver related issue or hardware problem but its not easy to say because your notebook wasnt equipped with preinstalled OS so you cant test it with factory settings.
What you can try is reinstalling Windows 7 again with all pretested drivers from official Toshiba website. Then make sure that device manager shows no yellow exclamation marks anymore and test the whole situation again.
If the same error appears it seems to be a hardware malfunction and an authorized service provider can help you to get rid of this.

    I have the same problem
I managed to get it to work this way on Windows 7 SP1 X64
    Itunes 10.2
    Ipod 2g
    Open Itunes
    Open Task manager
    Click on process tab
    Connect Ipod 2g
Swap back to applications tab and check for not responding for Itunes
    If Itunes goes not responding
Disconnect and reconnect Ipod, while viewing process tab
It may take a few times

    Hello there, sarhang27753.
First thing that would come to mind to resolve the issue would be SMC and PRAM resets. I've linked Knowledge Base articles below:

  • Zen Micro Freezes when USB plugged

My 5 day old Zen Micro 6 GB freezes when I plug it in with the USB cable. It freezes on the "Now Playing" screen. And then I get a little window that pops up on my desktop saying "USB device not recognized." The only way to un freeze it is to remove the battery.
I've also found that if I turn the player on, and have it in Menu, NOT playing any song, it will dock fine.
    I'm using firmware 2..02.
    I've tried (in this order)
    Re-formatting with 2..02
    Disk Clean up
Uninstalling EVERYTHING on my PC and then reinstalling it
Still getting the same error. I'm running WIN XP SP2.
Anyone offer any advice?Message Edited by pi534 on 06-9-2005 06:44 PM

The same problem happens with my 5 gb Zen Micro. But I have noticed that, it happens when I plug it to an USB port with extension cord. It never happens when I use it through my laptop's USB but in my Uni'versity's lab when I plug it in the USB port which is in front of the case by using an extra cable, it freezes. I have to turn the case around and directly connect to the USB. I don't know why but that's the solution I found

  • ITunes 10.3.1 Freezes when I plug in iPhone, various other problems

I've had loads of problems with iTunes, Windows 7, and my iPhone 4 which I got in february (along with the iPod Touchs I've owned in the past.)
Today, my problem is this. Every time I open itunes, it opens fine, and everything is okay. But when I plug in my iPhone 4, things stop working. One of the following things will happen:
    A) iTunes will completely stop responding for 3+ minutes, until it finally gives up trying to find the iPhone. Even if my iPhone is still plugged in, iTunes wont recognize that it's plugged in and acts like nothing is plugged in. My iPhone does not sync, and it acts as if it's plugged into a wall charging port.
    B) iTunes freezes for a second, then asks me to either restore a backup of my iPhone (deleting everything on my iPhone since all the backups seem to be from ages ago), or start as a new iPhone. I click start as a new iPhone, and it tries to make a backup, and for some reason it says that my iPhone 4 (32 gig capacity) only has 4 gigs TOTAL space on it, and then when the backup finally finishes, iTunes will freeze up and I have to close it down.
I've tried everything to fix these garbage issues that no one should be having (I've been having these issues since before 10.3), but nothing has worked. I've reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer, restored the device to factory settings, updated the device via Device Manager, nothing works.
If anyone has a fix so that I can sync my iPhone at all (let alone in a fast manner, which I've NEVER been able to do), I'll be a little less inclined to ditch my iPhone ASAP.
    Specs:
    iPhone 4 32 gig
    iTunes 10.3.1
    Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
    Intel Core i7 CPU Processor 860 @ 2.8 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Graphics Card
    4 gigs RAM
300 gig hard drive (108 gigs space left on it).

I have the same issue.  I took it the genius bar and called talked to tier 2 phone support. They have standard thing where you uninstall all apple software in a certain order and then reinstall 64bit itunes.  That did nothing (tried it 4 times).
I've gotten two clues so far.
One is that at the store if I plug someone else's iphone 4 in then itunes acts the same way. So it is not the phone. Two is tier 2 phone support told me to try syncing it with a fresh user account (an admin one). I did that and itunes was just fine, it did not freeze.
So there appears to be some conflict with the software, music files, whatever that is on my current user account (also an admin account).  I ran virus and malware detectors and found nothing.  Now I'm going to try putting my music, movies, apps, etc in the new user account and see if the phone will sync then.
I know its not much but thats where I'm at. I hope it helps.

  • I am unable to use Itunes because it freezes when I plug my Iphone 3g in.

    Hi,
I needed a phone, so my brother gave me his old Iphone 3g. I instantly downloaded the latest itunes (10.5.3) and I purchased some songs and application at itunes store. Unfortunately when I plug my iphone in it freezes itunes and I can't put anything on the phone. My iphone has absolutely nothing on the phone, no songs, apps, contacts, nothing.
I have tried for about a week now. Looking at forums on the internet and downloading alternatives to itunes like media monkey and foobar and alot of other programs to be able to put music on my phone.I spoke to my brother and he had no troubles at all with the phone.
I have no idea what to do. PLEASE HELP.
    PC/Laptop- HP Pavilion dv6-2109AX
    Windows 7
    Iphone 3g
    Software: 4.2.1
I have tried plugging the iphone in different ports. I heard you need to plug it into a 2.0 usb port, but I tried all of them. I don't know if my laptop has 2.0 usb ports because it still didn't work.
I tried reinstalling itunes the correct order multiple times but that didn't work.
I tried deleting the crash files that I didnt even have. I don't have the appdata file to delete its contents, if I do I couldn't find it.
I had to delete my virus software and disable it while I plugged my iphone in.I restarted my computer multiple times and restored my computer a few times and also deleted alot of useless files and movies to make my computer run faster.
As soon as I plug my iphone in, itunes instantly freezes. When unplugged itunes instantly unfreezes.
Also I have the original Iphone charger.
HELP! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
    Thanks in advance. (:

  • ITunes completely freezes when I plug in my iPod Touch

    Hi...
I just got an iPod Touch 8GB for Xmas. Its been working great since I got it, but just started to not work with iTunes. iTunes has not brought me any problems, either. Both work great, but when they are "together", iTunes freezes.
When it's not plugged in, I can access everything in iTunes, but when I plug it in, it freezes, and end up having to go through the whole CtrlAltDel process. I cant update software, music or video to my iPod.
I have done everything. Restarted both my computer and iPod. I reinstalled iTunes. It is charged. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO!
If anyone could troubleshoot this for me or it's happened/happening to you, please post a reply. iTunes is in it's most current version (8.0.2.20), and everything else is up to date.
    Thanks

  • ITunes freezing when iPhone plugged into USB

I've had my iPhone since September 08 and never had any problems syncing. Today when I plugged in my (90% charged) iPhone into my computer after adding some music to iTunes the program froze. At first it started to sync but asked if I wanted to update something. Not sure exactly what it was, some type of setting. I said yes and it downloaded whatever that was and did not sync after that. I unplugged the iPhone and replugged it to start the sync. The phone is charging so the USB port is working. I tried restarting the computer and the iPhone, repairing iTunes, different USB ports, and nothing is working. iTunes will function normally until the iPhone is plugged in. Then it freezes.
I at least have a working phone, but I'd really really like to sync.

SWEET RELIEF! i've been having this same problem and its nearly been the death of me (and/or my macbook and/or iphone). the second i connect my iphone to USB, itunes immediately just goes unresponsive/hangs. i've been staring at that freaking swirling rainbow for days. i've gone over every single how-to/troubleshooting/etc. topic in apple support, and gotten exactly nowhere.
but then i found your post, deleted my podcasts, and it was like magic - iphone/itunes sync up and running like clockwork.
my sanity thanks you... TO EVERYONE ELSE HAVING THE SAME PROB - THIS WORKS!!! JUST DELETE WHATEVER PODCASTS/APPS YOU DOWNLOADED FROM YOUR IPHONE, AND PROBLEM SOLVED.

  • ITunes freezes when I plug in my 4S

Brand new iPhone 4S.  When I transferred my info to it the other day, everything was fine.  Now when I plug it in, iTunes immediately freezes.  Will not sync, will not cancel sync.  When opening the task menu, it says iTunes is "Not Responding." iPhone 4 will still plug in and sync fine without this issue.

Suggest uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Use this support document information to do that.

  • Windows freezes when I plug in iPod

My iPod was working fine until I updated my iTunes software yesterday (10.15.05). While updating my computer froze completely and I had to do a hard shut down. Now, when I plug in to the USB 2.0 port (which is Belkin pc card external - bought at an apple store), the iPod says "do not connect", then after about 20 seconds the computer freezes completely and I must do a hard shut down. This happens over and over again. I've reset the iPod a few times to no avail and I am doing a "Scan" now.
I've read many of the posts on this page and many people have similar problems, but I can't seem to find a proper solution. How can I get the iPod to work like it did before I did the update? If this isn't the problem, how can I get it resolved? Please help - loving the iPod but frustated as $@$%.

I've had similar problem... I could only load a few songs into my iPod (4G 20GB black and white), because iTunes would crash or something... my pc crashed sometimes when I conected my iPod
seems that my iPod had a malfunctioning magnetic support recorder... I sent it to an Apple store and I got a new one for free (it was still under warranty)

  • ITunes freezes when I plug my ipod in

This problem started when iTunes said it couldn't sync some of the songs to my ipod.  I think it said my ipod was corrupt or something like that so I tried to restore it.  It froze after the restore, so I unplugged the iPod.  It works when it's not plugged in, there's just nothing on it.  When I plug it into the computer iTunes freezes.  I tried doing reformatting it through Windows in disk mode, then it showed up in iTunes as corrupt.  I restored it and the same thing happened.  I don't know what to do; does anyone know anything about this?

If the above steps don't work, I went through a lot of trial and error to fix mine but found that this method worked great.
    1.  Press and hold select and menu to reset.
    2.  When the apple comes up, press select and play to put the iPod in disk mode.
    3.  Plug iPod in and make sure iTunes recognizes it.  It will still give you an error but ignore it.
    4.  Find out what the iPod drive name is.  Mine is G: so be careful what you put in because this will completely format any drive you type in.
Open up CMD from the run or start menu.  Type in:
    Format G: /FS:FAT32.
(Remember to replace G: with whatever drive your iPod is.)
Then hit enter. It may take a while.  This will start the iPod format.
    5.  When that is finished, you will get an error that says something like the drive is too big for FAT.  Ignore this.
    6.  Eject the iPod using iTunes and then press the select and menu button to reset the iPod back into normal mode.
    7.  Plug the iPod back in.  You will get a message on Windows saying that you need to format it again.  Ignore this.
    8.  Restore the iPod using iTunes.
This method will completely wipe the iPod and formats the entire thing to its original file format.  I have read that doing this can reduce the life of the iPod, but better than having a iPod paper weight.  This method made mine run like new again.  I found that using the Windows Format Utility doesn't work to well.  The CMD format seemed to do the trick.    Hope this helps.
