When I try to record video / sound with my lap, the first pieces of sound comes clear but after 5 seconds or so, the sound goes down, when I want to record myself playing guitar, I can only hear the first 10 seconds, after that the mic "adapts" to the sound or something and lowers itself down, so the sound of the recording starts going down until it mutes and only lets very hard sounds get in the recording.

Reinstalling your Toshiba supplied sound driver is a good place to start and should not hurt anything. Download this file to your desktop and double click to install it.

But, the proper method is really going to depend on the sound recording software you are using. What software are you using to record yourself playing guitar? Are you only recording through a microphone? Are you using the computer's built-in microphone?

Display Driver Issues on Satellite L655-S5150 with Win10

I upgraded my Toshiba satellite (L655-S5150) to Windows 10 last week. Upgrade appeared successfully initially however shortly after the Win10 interface loads the computer will shut itself off. After exploring a number of possibilities it turns out the computer runs fine in safe mode or in low resolution mode selected from the mainteanance menu. So I feel quite certain like other issues I have seen with Win10 that have similarities to this one the issue is with the display driver. I tries updating the driver through device manager but it said I had the latest. Tried the Toshiba support pages and seem to be nothing new there for the "Intel HD Graphics" display driver. So seems at the moment I am stuck at low res mode if I want to have a functioning computer. Any ideas if there might be an updated driver out there, or can I change to something a little more generic that at least might allow me to boot in to normal mode and stay running?

Yes, have tried "update drivers" option and Windows Update option. No luck yet. Also searched manually for an updated driver on the Toshiba site and Intel site (Intel HD Graphics display adapter). I wish I could just load a generic display driver but every time I remove the Intel display driver and reboot it comes back after boot. Really a fix to the problem would be nice by anyone..... Microsoft, Toshiba, Intel, anyone......

Satellite L655-S5150 Poor connection to wireless on Battery after BIOS update.

Hi Folks, New to the Forum. Sorry if this was previously covered; however need help.
Brand new Satellite L655-S5150. Updated BIOS and Eco via Toshiba Bulletin board a few days ago and have experienced wireless connection cutting in and out. Noticed it only happens while on battery power. Tried changing driver power options with no luck(I did not restart after making this change) and then changed back to default. Is there a fix for this? Should I roll back BIOS? Should I return for another PC?
Any help is appreciated.

I am not sure what is going on? I have the same laptop. I have flashed my BIOS twice. I am not sure what to say. I have never had any kind of problems with anything. I bought a Cissco ethernet router that handles all bands. I hooked the router up to comcast turned the laptop on and all was done. Get this, then I bought a LexMark 3 all in one printer. Set it up turned it on and started printing with no cables used, wireless. Deal is I have been working with computers for 20 years. The other deal, if I am not infront of the computer that is having problems it is hard for me to tell what is going on. I just don't get it. You should be able to plug it in and go for it. If you have questions I will do my best to answer them. Maybe if I can talk one through it it can be passed on.

Satellite L775D-S7112 mic problem

My microphone isn't working. I've never had a problem with the mic before and I don't know what happened as to why it suddenly stopped working but I can't figure out what's wrong. I've checked to make sure it was enabled and reinstalled to see if that would work but it didn't. Everything is up to date as well so I'm not quite sure why my mic decided to not work all of the sudden. Please help!

Were you simply reinstalling the sound driver through Device Manager, or were you re-downloading it?
If you haven't tried re-downloading and reinstalling it, try that.

Satellite L655-S5150 display turns off

Hello, I have used this laptop over a year and everything worked fine. A month ago, while I was using it , suddenly, the display went black, like in sort of sleep mode ( but the programs keep running). I just have to move the cursor and it turns up again, like nothing happened. But it is not only once, it keeps happpening again and again in the same day (just after a while it goes black again,and I have to move the cursor again).
Since then, it happens randomly, some days it works fine for hours, others, just after minutes, it starts doing the same thing.
What can I do?

Hi Try going into safe mode (F8) see it you have the same problem. If you made a system repair disc, boot with it and do a repair or restore to a earlier time before your trouble began. Are you using your PC with the battery in or out??Check your power setting. If you need help with these things please ask.

Can't search for wireless on L655-s5150

I cannot search for wifi on my L655-S5150. I can only access the Internet via an Ethernet cable. This randomly happened about two weeks ago, and I can't even search for wifi. Connections are constantly not available.

Problem with sound on my new Satellite L655-1FO

Hello
I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L655-1FO before 5 days , I install all driver on XP an my sound work ok , but today I connect my headphone and I didnt hear sound like music just some scratch sound and when I disconnect my headphones , there was no more sound from my PC .
I restarted but the problem stay. Whats happen with my pc , is it broken?
I need to know because I have 7 days to back it and get new or to contact with service?

You must understand that nobody here can say for sure if something is broken or not. We an just speculate what the problem can be.
I recommend you to install WXP one more time to see if this issue will be fixed. If not contact your local dealer and ask for replacement.
In the headphones port there is small switch that disable internal speakers when external speakers are connected. Maybe this switch stuck somehow. Who knows?

Problem with updating bios toshiba satellite l655-s5144

Hello first of all having a good day, four months ago a problem with my laptop toshiba satellite l655-5144 I have something crazy ,happens that when starting Windows 7/8 freezes there and I can not access windows, I thought it was an error of hdd, but I think I'm surprised that it is not, since changing the hdd and still gives the same problem of being paralyzed in Home windows, all this began to update the BIOS to version 2.8 that turned out to be the operating profit that was for windows 8, not sure if this is due to the problem but I've tested the ram, hdd, cpu, etc and everything about the hardware works well and gives no problems, I think that the problem was caused by updating the BIOS to version 2.8, my question is whether you can return to the factory version was 2.2, or at least the previous version to 2.8 which was the one I worked thanks for your answers and spend time helping me, is the agradesco much.

Hello and thank you for coming to see the problem I had with my laptop, that seems to fix the problem so far, I hope q not refreeze operating system again, and I could restore the BIOS to version in which was when purchased.
If anyone has the same problem as I leave then follow these steps:
1.Find BIOS version with which acquired the laptop
2. Use of mnetodo booted by CD.
3. Insert the CD from the boot.
4. Upon resumption of the program ran hidden PC (that I saw no message)
5. After restart, windows restart again and enter the bios to see if it had changed the version of this and it turned out was successful.
Well I hope this problem the laptop again, and thank you for deigning to read at least my problem.

Computer freezes/hangs - Satellite L655

I have a Satellite L655 AMD Phenom(tm)quad core processor II P960. 64-bit. 4 gb ram. 1.80GHz (Windows 7)
..about 4 years old now..
I shouldve made this aware way back when it started because it wouldve made it a hell of a lot easier.
For about a year or more now everytime i log and get on the internet, play games, use microsoft word, ANYTHING. My connections starts to "Hang" (not responding) and turn up a white screen for about 5 minutes. this happens about 5-10 times an hour, literally. not even joking. about every 5-10 minutes this happens and it annoys me so much. I've ran many computer scans, gotten rid of malware/adware, boosted performance speed, run ccleaner and defraged it. always automatically install windows updates. EVERYTHING. the problem still isnt solved. I use chrome as my current internet browser and i frequently delete the history, cache, and cookies. Even as im typing this my browser started to hang, for a stunning 8 minutes! Im on the brink of throwing my laptop out the window.
I believe it may be a program i have installed a while back that i dont remember which, i dont know. maybe something like a third party add on from a program thats doing this but i just want it resolved.

Please provide the full model number of your computer. It is printed on the bottom.
You can try to restore your computer to an early restore point and see if you can restore your computer to a time before the problem began. If this doesn't work, the best way would be to run in safe mode and see if you can reproduce the white screen. If you can't, than it is likely being caused by conflict from some program that you have installed previously. You could try uninstalling things one at a time, or just restore your computer back to out-of-box state and start all over.
I like to do a restore to out-of-box about once a year to keep clutter from building up on my computer. Of course I save everything first (personal files, bookmarks, etc.) so I don't have to do that all over again.

Install original recovery image (factory settings) and test it for the last time. If the same problem persists there is reason to think about hardware failure.
In this case contact Toshiba service and ask for help.

Your notebook was equipped with an *Broadcom BCM94313 802.11b/g/n + BT* WLan card
All the drivers are available on the Toshiba EU driver page but you have to choose the right WLan driver because different Satellite L655 were equipped with different WLan modules.

First I searched the internet I read so many threads about this but none is regarding my problem.
My wireless card is +Broadcom 8.11n+ with ID PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727
Is not supported by new TVAP flash cards which I had to install in Windows 8.1
I noticed that in Windows 7 when I tried to install a new version of TVAP the F8 is missing,
So I was stuck in an old version.
I tied to add my wireless ID to the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TOSHIBA\WirelessAPL\BT WLANDP
as it is not listed with no luck
The only way I think is to contact TVAP developers and ask them to re-support my wireless again in a new release if they will make one, as I needed it badly it to turn off Bluetooth wireless as well.
Although I can turn the WIFI off but the light of will stay on.
I there is any other way anyone can tell I am willing to try

As far as I know the Satellite L655-11 isnt Win 8 supported notebook model and also Win 8.1 is not supported too.
Its not listed on this WINDOWS 8.1 UPDATE - SUPPORTED MODELS page

This means that there are no Win 8 / Win 8.1 drivers for the L655 series.
_Secondly_
The VAP (Value added package) isnt released for Win 8 or Win 8.1
The VAP was replaced with Toshiba System Driver
Additionally to get FN key working, the Toshiba Function Key Utility for Win 8.1 needs to be installed.
These both tools are needed to get the FN keys (also the F8) working properly under Win 8 or Win 8.1

How to install recovery image on my Satellite L655-121?

I've made a Recovery to get rid of the problems i faced in Windows 8 beta ,, but the recovery didn't completed :(
Now i can't either repair or remake the recovery !! I've stuck !
I can't use the HDD Recovery that presents on ' D ' Driver !! and i don't have the CD on which the copy is present ,, i just have the Serial Number :D

No. serial number has nothing to do with recovery image.
If you want to have original Toshiba recovery image installed on your notebook you must order Toshiba recovery disc - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
Other option is to install own OS version and later install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities additionally. All of them you can find and download from Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

I've been running Fedora 17 and 19 on the L650 (which is more or less the same model) and this works great!
I am sure the Ubuntu-family and cousins will work as well!
All features worked fine (sound, webcam, WLAN, Bluettoth + many hotkeys, HDMI).
However, something which may not be perfect is power-management for the ATi graphics in suspend / resume scenarios.
That's not a Fedora/Ubuntu/....-problem, but more likely an issue with drivers not being perfect.
If you're unit has an Intel graphics you are in a better position!

Satellite L655 - RAM upgrade causes system crash

I bought and inserted 2 4GB Kingston RAM chips. When I boot up the Windows and Ubuntu 14.04 (I have a dual boot system) crashes.
If I run a memory test from Ubuntu's boot menu the system freezes.
I put back the old RAM and all is well.
To solve this problem I tried upgrading the BIOS firmware using the software available from the Toshiba site, but that gives me an error saying that the battery needs to be fully charged and the AC adapter plugged in. Fully charged battery with charger plugged in still gives the same error. I replaced the battery, which was old and only lasted 5 minutes, but the error remains on the bios upgrade.
Any ideas what could be causing this would be appreciated.
Can I get hold of a BIOS upgrade CD ISO that does not check the battery and charger state? I promise I won't let the machine die while the bios upgrade goes ahead!
