Satellite L70-A-11C does not power on after 4GB RAM upgrade

Hello,
I wanted to add 4GB RAM and I've taken a DDR3 1600 MHz SoDimm from Corsair.
When the RAM is plugged alone or with the original RAM, the laptop does no start at all!
I tested this RAM with a other laptop and the RAM works perfectly.
I suppose that only the DDR3L type (1.35V) is accepted and not the DDR3 (1.5 V). Can you confirm?
Do you recommend a specific brand or a type of DDR3L which is for sure compatible with the Satellite L70-A-11C?

As far as I know the compatible 4G RAM module from Toshiba has the part number +PA5104U-1M4G+
The Toshiba PA5104U-1M4G module is exactly the same like the module from Kingston +KTT-S3CL/4G+
The Kingston KTT-S3CL/4G supports *1.35V* and therefore I assume that you have to use the modules supporting the 1.35V and the 1.5V modules would cause the mentioned problems.
Hope this would help you to get the right RAM module.

Satellite Pro 440 CDT does not power up

Hi, I have an old 440 CDT which does not power up. Anyone any ideas???
AC is connected, power light is on, green. Battery is dead (as in buried). When I press the power button, the following happens:
- On light is green
- Num lock key (the one with the "A" on it) flashes 3 times: long-short-short
- HDD light flashes on 1 time, green
- CD light flashes on 1 time, orange
- Popping sound in the speakers
Then it turns off again, with the power light burning green constantly.
Nothing happens on the display (tried FN F5). I also switched CD/floppy, attached both, with or without battery, no help.
I am puzzled, please help!

Like you know, on this way it is not possible to give any precise diagnostic, just speculate what the problem can be. In my opinion it is definitely because of defective electronic on board but what exactly it is not easy to say. Try to contact someone who has experience with notebook repair procedure.

Just want to save your precious time & effort, while doing Nexus 5596 upgrades so wanted to share some useful info which you can have a look prior to your upgrades of Cisco Nexus 5596 device.
I recently ran into trouble when upgarding one of datacenter switch Nexus 5596 does not boots up and after investigation from Cisco TAC it comes out to be Bug documented below.

My Upgrade path of device was : 5.1(3)N1(1)  to 6.0(2)N2(5).
Since this upgarde involves upgrade of Bios and Power sequensor, I was having some doubts to get this succesfully upgraded, But there was more twist involved in this upgrade which I came to know after contacting Cisco TAC for my died Nexus 5596 device and got info that if you have below impacted version in your Nexus 5596 device and you are planning to do Upgrade, then you migh RUN into this serious BUG aftre which device won't come up at all and only Option left is to replace with RMA device.

Today "upgraded" our switch (N5k-C5596UP) to from 5.1(2)N1 to 7.0(5) and after reboot no life from the switch either. Even no console response. show sprom sup | inc H/W shows 1:0.
Only thing we could do is RMA the switch. So what must I do with these switches? Have still to do 3 of them.

Ipad does not display charging after ios 6 upgrade plugged in

After upgrading to iOS 6 OTA my iPad does not appear to be charging when plugged in using the default charging cable plugged into the AC outlet. The battery icon has a lightning bolt through it as if it is not plugged in.
I did a reset and this did not solve it.

Satellite Pro A300-1DZ does not find HDD after BIOS update

Hi everyone,
I have recently purchased a secondhand Satellite Pro A300 1DZ.
Put a fresh copy of Windows xp home on it.
I then went on to install all the drivers needed from Toshiba's own site and at the end of this I thought it may be a good idea to update the bios????
OH DEAR what a big mistake.
Now the netbook will NOT start windows.
So I thought thats ok I will just start from the begginning and reinstall windows again, but it is telling me it cannot find a hard disk on my netbook?
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am going crazy,

I think the option SATA mode has been set to AHCI and therefore the Windows XP cannot find the HDD.
This is because of the SATA controller.
You can set the SATA mode from AHCI mode to compatible mode and this will allows you to install the Win XP on the notebook without the usage of SATA drivers.
So, youve got two options if you want to install Win XP:
AHCI mode -> but you have to include SATA drivers
Compatible mode -> Win XP installation possible without the SATA drivers

Monitory does not power up after memory timing changed

(See my sig for spects) I tried changing memory timings to 2-3-3-6. The last thing I tried was mem volt from 2.55 to 2.75 and the TI/T2 Memory timing to T1
I hit save and exit and the computer seem to start but no graphics?. ??? SO I had to flip th PSU switch and when I flipped it back (20 seconds later) the computer seemed to start but still no graphics? I never hit the front power button either?!
I had tweaked some of the other values with no problem earlier today. (tras, CAS delay ect).
One other note: I have had to turn off the computer with the PSU switch since 1.4? BIOS flash I did last year. I read something about RAID Firmware version ? (1 year ago) that came with that BIOS causing hangs ect.
I may use this as an excuse to buy Vista today and start from scratch although I really don't want too.

OK. I reset the CMOS and windows loaded ok but now my RAID +1 array is gone. I see addition HD letters in My Computer now. When I entered bios and change it to NVraid I got a windows error saying it could not load because of missing or corrupt file? I tried a repair but it said it did not work.
I do see the healthy raid array when the system Posts. I did not click the restore optimal defaults yet. Maybe I will have to do that now.

Qosmio X500-02m does not power up after spilling fluid

Hi guys, first post here.
Sadly I spilt coffee over my laptop.. the phone rang and i turned, knocked it and you can guess the rest... This happened in October. I had more or less written the machine off but thought I would post here..
Within about 3 seconds if it happened the laptop went off - there was no sparking or abnormal noise, just sounded like it normally would if you shut it down.
I took the power/battery out and turned the laptop upside down.
I let it dry for over a week but there was no joy at all after that time, not even a power light or noise, nothing at all.
Any opinions on this? I've not been stupid enough to ever spill liquid on a PC before. I purchased the PC when I was in Australia the whole time I was there it was insured, upon returning to the UK within three weeks I had done this to it.. which makes the situation even more annoying!
The coffee was spilt into the bottom left of the machine (as you look at it from the front). I've cleaned up everything that could of been connecting the circuits but still no joy from it but there doesn't seem to be anything or substantial value there. I was wondering what would be the best way to approach getting this repaired? I'm guessing it would involve a whole new motherboard but I'm not sure of the price of that?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Guess what: this happened to my friend too.
He spilled coke and the notebook went off.
We tried to power up the unit but after one, two seconds the notebook powered off again.
I though the motherboard has been damaged.
But we checked the notebook with new modules and it worked again!
Fortunately only one of the modules has been damaged due to the fluid and the mobo was ok
I think you should also check this maybe just the modules are affected
But of course, in worst case your motherboard might be damaged and this would mean that you need to replace this expensive part

Satellite L840/03R - FN buttons not working correctly after Win 8 upgrade

I bought a new L840/03R and installed Windows 8 using the Toshiba Upgrade Assistant. There were no error messages.
The function keys don't work with CTRL and ALT. So I can't use shortcuts like ALT F4 to close windows - this gives 'second screen' options. It does this for F4 on its own, or with CTRL, ALT or SHIFT held down.
Also, F11 toggles sound on/off instead of going full screen in chrome. F12 toggles flight mode instead of 'save as' in word.
Have just downloaded and installed the Value Added Package.
Am I missing something really obvious?

Docky does not launch anymore after big system upgrade

I get this when trying to launch docky:

I have searched and found that mono update broke docky, but people say that the problem should be fixed with docky version 2.0.7, however, I have that version and still have the same problem

IPhoto does not start up after upgrading

On my new iMac iPhoto does not start up after migrating. Upgrade from iPhoto 6/Snow Leopard > Lion 10.7.1 with iPhoto 9.1.5. When the conversion is finished I can see the new library, it works allright. And with packet-inspection (or how is that called in English) all maps & data seems to be OK; I can check the seperate pics.
But: iPhoto won't start up a second time (grey screen with infinite spinning wait cursor). The same thing is happening when I add a new library and drop in some pictures.
What can cause this problem?

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Satellite M50 does not power up

My Satellite M50 notebook does not power up. The laptop itself has been working fine, but I cannot use it as the battery has drained. I have checked the AC cable and this seems ok. Does the notebook have an internal fuse which I should check? If not, what should I do?

If I understand you well you cannot use notebook with AC power supply only. Am I right about this?
The switching between AC or battery power supply, do the boards power supply electronic and there is no some kind of switch that you can check.
When you connect your notebook to AC power supply is the power LED ON?

Hmm sounds like a serious hardware issue.
If you are a lucky man the issue could be related to RAM module.
The RAM modules can be replaced easily. The memory bay is placed at the bottom of the unit secured by one screw.
But the question is if its really related to RAM.
Well, you will know this if you would replace/check this
Otherwise I recommend asking an professional notebook technician for a help

8800 does not power on but shows the charging symbol! HELP!

I have been searching for days now across the web for a solution to a very bugging situation. A'las i am close to giving up. someone please try and help. So here is the problem: I recently bought a 8800 rim (branded for cingular/AT&T but UNLOCKED) from ebay powerseller with 100% rep. it was advertised in MINt condition.
It arrived two days later and seemed in great physical condition.
So i plug in the charger and let it charge for more than 8 hours. I try turning it on but to no avail. During the charge the screen goes dimly on and shows a battery with an electric bolt going through (I assume that means charging..).
It initially seemed to me as a battery problem. So i took it to a local store and borrowed one of their batteries for 8800 and the phone started working fine also made a call with my temporary T-mobile sim inserted. (although their battery was also on low charge)---
So i come home and with a new OEM 8800 battery. plugged it in and charged for like 4 hours and the screen goes on with the charging symbol but does not power on.
I have repeatedly searched through the WWW and came across wide variety of dilemmas but none were any helpful. I also tried installing the latest OS...which also spectacularly failed [got an error that ...loading failed during the mult-load seesion...or something like that. I followed several very well written guides [advising that the manager and OS be installed on PC and etc.].
SO I MAKE A DESPERATE REQUEST FOR HELP FROM ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP. WHAT'S THE DIAGNOSIS WITH THIS BB. IT WAS ABLE TO WORK WITH THE BORROWED BATTERY FROM A LOCAL STORE..EVEN MADE A CALL AND EVERYTHING...BUT WITH THE BATTERY THAT CAME WITH THE eBay PURCHASE AND THE THE BRAND NEW THAT I BOUGHT....IT DOES NOT POWER ON.
BESIDES HOW LONG SHOULD I BE CHARGING IF IT IS NEW OR IF THE PHONE HAS NOT BEEN IN USE FROM SOME TIME??

How are you charging the BlackBerry? Do you have a wall charger or are you charging via USB cable from your PC? Its also possible that the charging circut in your BlackBerry is faulty. This would explain why a charged battery works while your uncharged battery is not.

Since it's a new machine, contact Apple's Support and let them deal with it. Allen's already recommended an Apple repair station visit. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for an onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located). BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.
