Satellite L745-S4210 Headphone Jack

I had my headphones plugged into the headphone jack of the laptop, and I accidentally stepped on the wire of the headphones, which pulled the headphones out of the laptop. When I went to check the laptop jack, it seems to have been moved out of place, and when I try inserting it back in, it just ends up being loose and not plugging in. The headphones itself have a bent jack, so I'm guessing it ended up dislocating the jack of the laptop.
Is it simple enough to just open it up and hopefully try to put it back in place?
Sound still works normally without the headphones, and if I can somewhat nudge the headphone's jack into the jack of the laptop, I can hear about one second of sound through the headphones until it goes back to just playing through the laptop's speakers.

You describe a part being pulled out and sits loosely, the headphone jack, like the one pictured here.
No to all of your questions and wishful thinking, even if it could e done, would you trust yourself with a screwdriver and an L-Series ?  Y
You know that L Series are sought because of their  premium brushed finish, heavier weight and sturdiness just like people who want metal Glocks instead of the plastic version used by commoners.
You're obviously unqualified to dis-assemble a laptop anyway, the "L-745"  doesn't mean "Lego's"
It can be replaced with parts from radioshack by a skilled solderer.
Other alternative is blue tooth speakers.

     Hello,
Headphone jack on my toshiba satellite doesn't work. When I plug my headphones in the computer speakers still play. I know its not the headphone because they work on everything else I've tried. When I go to control panel > hardware and sound > sound it doesn't show the headphone jack. It only shows  speakers. how do I get my headphone jack to work?

This is actually the peer support forum for Toshiba USA. But, while you are still welcome here, yours would appear to be a Toshiba Middle East model. Toshiba Middle East is really handled by Toshiba Europe, and you can find their forum here. You may want to consider using that in the furture.
I am not sure this will work on your system, but it's worth a shot. With your headphones unplugged, click on 'Start' -> click on 'Control Panel' -> click on 'Realtek HD Audio Manager'. Look for the file folder icon near the top right of that window, as in the attached pic. Make sure the check mark is on 'Enable pop-up dialog, when device has been plugged in' -> click 'OK'. Now, plug in your headphones -> when you see the 'The current connected device is:' dialog box pop up, put the check mark on 'Headphone' -> then click 'OK'.
Test your headphones again, and see if your laptops internal speakers now turn off.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.

  • Satellite A100 - Broken headphone jack

    Hi,
Through obvious neglect I have broken the plastic headphone hack on the front of my A100 till still accept a jack but is barely staying in there.
Anyone know if its easily replaced by myself with a soldering gun and the part? How is it connected to the board?
    thanks

    Hi!
Normally the headphone jack is soldered/fixed on the mainboard and that means you have replace the whole mainboard. Furthermore the notebook must be disassembled complete and this is a little bit tricky.
In your case I would go to an authorized service provider. Speak with the technician and then you will see what they can do for you and how much it costs. I think this would be the best option.

  • Satellite P75-A7200 headphone jack not recognized at all

    model number PSPLNU-00H004
i've tried updating all drivers etc, still will not pick up headphones when i plug them in. scanned for new devices in device manager and it just sees microphone and speakers, nothing else.
    any help would be appreciated

I am having a different headset related problem. the headset I am using is a turtle beach X12. the headset works like its supposed on every system I plug it into EXCEPT my new P75-A7200 with windows 8. the problem being very very low volume. this is a powered headset and even with the system volume at 100% and the headset volume at 100% all sounds are slightly above normal speaking volume. and if there is any backround noise at all I cant hear my game or movie at all.
I have gone through the system settings and made sure all volume setting were at thier max and still the volume is too low.
if I plug my headset in to any other system I own, be it my xbox 360 or my wifes laptop or even my desktop. I have to turn the system volume down. a LOT or risk having my ears blown out.
I'm hoping its just a software/driver issue and that its not because of a low cost cheaply made sound card.....

  • Satellite L745-S4210 - screen frizzles & reboots by itself

My satellite is about 8 months old.  1st condition was screen going crazy - i had to hard boot it.  next condition was the laptop rebooting itself with no warning - sometimes when entering keystrokes, sometimes when doing nothing.  sent it to Toshiba - they replaced system board.  got it back yesterday.  booted it up - within an hour the screen frizzled and while I was taking pictures of the screen it rebooted itself.  any ideas?

If it's not the physical drive or possibly even the memory, this would suggest software. Have you tried "safe" booting the machine and see what happens. Give it while, run what you can and see if you can reproduce the issue. If the problem doesn't re-occur, try removing all the "startup" apps and registry "...\Run" apps temporarily. (If you would like detailed instructions, please ask). There may also be some services causing this issue, which you can also temporarily disable. Finally, you could try booting from media (USB, DVD, etc.) and just let it set for a while and see if the error occurs. Perhaps it's a thermal problem?

  • Can't recover software to Satellite L745-S4210 with new hard drive

Was using the laptop when it completely froze. Used power button to force shutdown. When restarted, hard drive was making a ticking noise and got this error message:
    PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM
No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key.
Setup utility did not show the presence of a hard disk drive. Assumed that hard drive had gone back.
Purchased a new hard disk drive at MicroCenter. Toshiba 2.5-inch SATA 640GB drive, the same drive that came in the laptop from the factory. Also used the opportunity to upgrade RAM from 4MB to 8MB.
Installed new hard disk drive and new memory. Ordered the Recovery Disk set from Toshiba.
At startup, new hard drive doesn't tick. Setup utility sees a Toshiba hard disk drive. Got the "no bootable device" message. Inserted the first disk of the Recovery package and held down the C key, per instructions. System began to respond but then switched to Windows Boot Manager screen.
    Here are the error messages:
    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred
Reseated both new hard drive and new RAM. Tried again with same result. Reinstalled old RAM. Tried again with same result.
Now at a wall. What has gone wrong? Is the new hard disk bad? Bigger problem. The unit is outside the factory warranty.
    Any help is appreciated.

I don't understand how that could appear when you boot from a recovery disc with a new hard drive in place. It implies there is something on the drive.

    Maybe try another drive?

  • Satellite Pro A200-18P - microphone / headphone jack not working with Vista

    Hi,
I have installed Windows Vista onto this laptop which was originally an XP, but I have not got the headphone jack working.
How do I turn it on or do I have to download it from toshiba website?

    Hi
First of all you have to check if there is an special BIOS for Vista.
As far as I know some A200 series needs BIOS which was released especially for Vista OS.
I think the notebook needs Realtek sound driver.
Therefore in control panel you should see the Realtek HD audio manager.
Go there and you will see the mic and headphone jack on the right.
Click right there and check if there are some settings which have to be enabled.

  • Terrible, tinny sound from headphone jack. Satellite

I've looked at all the settings I could find, but the sound from iTunes, out the headphone jack, to a small stereo is horribly tinny. I can plug the exact same wire into my phone which has great sound, so it's sth about the sound card ,not the rest of my system. I am not talking about the speakers

    Hello JohnBoarkman,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you hear no sound from your accessory when you connect to your headphone jack. My first troubleshooting suggestion for this situation would be resetting the NVRAM on your Mac. Please use the instructions in the attached article to complete this process and let me know if the issue continues.

  • Sound gets off after few hours Satellite L745

    Hi,
I have Satellite L745 model, bought 4 months back.
Two days before, I was using internal speakers for watching movie and after 2 or more hours there was no sound from the internal speakers of the laptop. So I tried other sound tracks, youtube etc but there was no sound from the internal speakers nor from headphones. I thought sound card is burnt as I was feeling hot right above the audio jack input. So I switched off the laptop for 30 minutes and switched on again, and found that it was working fine, there was sound from both internal and external headphones.
Yesterday night same problem happened again, there was sound, working fine but suddenly after few hours there is no sound. I switched off the sound track and waited 5 minutes and again switched on the sound track then there was sound for few seconds but then again no sound. So I did same switched off the computer for 30 minutes and checked again then there was sound from the interanl and external both.
I dont know what is the problem I did call service centre for technical assistance and he told me to re-install the drivers I did so. To check whether it is working fine now or not I need to switch on my laptop and sound track on for more than 3 hours.
Any one experiencing such problem or any assistance from Toshiba technicians will be welcome.
    Thank you.
    Dileep

I had exactly the same problem during the reproduction of a youtube video or any other sound from a music file or a video played in Windows Media Player, if i don't put the level of the volume at the top, the problem doesn't exist. I updated the drivers of the sound card Conexant Cx20585 @ Intel Cougar Point PCH, as well as the drivers of the BIOS, but nothing improved. Previously I did the system restore, but then I started to update the drivers since the restoration did not solve the problem.
I can not think what else to do, at least I'm relieved not to be the only one with the same model and the same problem notebook, Toshiba staff stay tuned!
    Thank you!
PS: sorry for my English, it should not be the best, I'm from Argentina.

  • Headphone jack is messed up

Ok so my headphone jack wont work i plug in my headphones and it just keeps playing out of my computer but the only way i can get sound to my headphones is if i shut it then plug in the headphones and open it. but if i take out the headphones then it wont work again unless i shut my computer and then plug in the headphones

If you have any autio enhancement programs from Toshbia you should uninstall them. I had the same issue with the volume being too low and flat and I uninstalled the 2 Audio programs that were for enhancing or EQ'ing the sound and it resolved the issue. Just make sure you do not uninstall your driver. The driver is the only thing you need.
I have a Toshiba Satellite P70 customized laptop.

  • Left Audio Only From Headphones Jack With External Speakers

Yes, the balance is set properly under the sound system preferences.
So here's the problem, I have JBL Encounter speakers connected via the headphone jack and since yesterday only the left speaker produces sound.
I've plugged my ipod into the JBL speakers and they work fine. I've also used headphones with my computer and again, left audio only.
I've even switched the right and left satellite speakers and again only left audio is produced... though on the right (side) satellite.
Any thoughts on how to correct this? The nearest apple store is 2 and 1/2 hours away so I'd prefer not to go if there is another fix.
My three month phone service is up but I'm still covered under the apple care for a few more months.
    Thanks in advance.

Sounds as if your headphone jack is either defective or has been damaged by having a cord yanked at some stage, Kanji
It is either a trip to your nearest AASP or a mailing box from Apple to get it resolved. Applecare will cover it if the problem isn't due to accidental damage (though a cat tripping on the cord can be enough to produce such results and the price could accordingly be substantial as the port is mounted on the logicboard on recent MBPs as I understand it) .
You might want to try a regular pair of headphones in the socket to make sure the problem also occurs with them, too, though.
    Cheers

  • Headphone Jack fix?

I have a Toshiba Laptop: Model: Satellite L355.
For awhile now the headphone jack hasn't been working right. I have to twist and wiggle the headphones to get the sound to stay in my headphones. It's getting to the point where the sound wont quickly go back into the headphones and I think sometime it will fully quit working.
What can I do to fix it?

How did you do that, anyway?
I'm having a similar problem, except it's the right earbud, and only works if I keep pressure on the plug a certain way.
Just the end steps will be good - I know I'll have to crack open the case and there's instructions for that elsewhere. But I'm guessing you had to buy the receptacle first, and where?
Thanks a lot, congrats on solving your own problem.
