Satellite L750D - Window Media Player has sound but no pictures

I have a Toshiba Laptop Satellite L750D, Win 7 Home Permium. I don't know why Win Media player just has sound but no pictures. Please some one help fix this problem. I don't have a recovery dics. Where can I down load it? I would very much appeciate your help. Hien

Your issue is likely, but not necessarily a corrupted or missing codec since you haven't actually confirmed whether your problem is with just one disc or all discs nor if they ever worked on this system before.
Installing VLC is a good idea, but it's a considerate application and won't tamper or try to repair a busted codec and will more often avoids tampering or accidentally repairing any detected whether it's already working or likely broken like yours. That's one of the reasons VLc is so highly recommended such as they way it was repeatedly suggested to you.
A question to ask if your problem is being caused by a few discs, are they custom burned or commercially pressed boutique films since most mainstream DVD's use the same MPEG-2 codec for video and audio and failed video but working audio is usually a clue about a split format disc that has simpler audio streams but obscure video formats that can result in an issue just like yours.
In either case and if none of that is of interest, I can relate and suggest you keep any installed VLc's and download KLite because it is nothing but varying degrees of CODEC's including obscure ones and is fairly aggressive in detecting and seamlessly repairing corrupted codecs while offering more configuration options than most people want and more than many commercial video applications offer.
Visit http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm and choose the "Mega" or 64Bit package but 64bit systems can successfully backport the 32bit set if you feel its necessary to.
You can also potentially skip the KLite process by diagnosing your codecs with Nirsofts InstalledCodec tool, a single file executable no install / no reboot but I don't get the impression you're prepared to really do much at that level and that's fine but it might be needless effort in your case.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html
But something you definitely need to stop and wonder about is what happened to crush your codec since they don't normally suffer damage until some insidious piece of badware like your favorite iLivid and mine gets into your computer to raise holy hell forever. If that could possibly be what happened to you, the circumstances of how you managed to pick it up and anything else are things you can keep to yourself but consider it a spyware affliction and one I don't make lightly and is something I rarely suggest since it is the overused excuse at the Microsoft forums to blame everything on spyware instead of poorly written OS code.

  • I definitely have put this under the wrong catergory but i don't care, I was wondering why everytime i click on a video to play it says: Windows media player has stopped working

Ok, so I made a video with Bandicam, and every time I click on it to play it (it is saved as an MP4), it just says: Windows Media Player has stopped working. Then it gives me two choices: Close the program OR look online for a solution. I REALLY want to
post these videos, but I can't. If anyone could help that would be great!

    Hi juderocks14,
Please first take a check with the other Players and see if they could play the MP4 file normally. If it can't be played, which means it might be corrupted. You may ask at the Bandicam side, or save the files again.
If issue insists, take a try with the Troubleshooter (For Windows 7, 8 and 8.1):
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
Or you may try to turn Windows Features on or off to reset Windows  Media Player:
Turn Windows features on or off (Before turn it on again, please remember to reboot first)

  • Tv has sound but no picture

My hp tv model # PL5060N has sound but no picture tv is wall mounted

Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
If you are using a sound system/receiver, make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?
    If the problem persists....
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

  • Windows Media Player no sound while playing a avi file in server and client connection using TCP/IP connection

    Hello there
I have a problem with my windows media player while using server and client connection by using TCP/IP connection. So when I play a video using Windows Media Player in LabVIew there isn't any sound come out but when I'm playing a video by a Windows Media Player only the sound will come out. Can you help me solve this problem?
I also upload the vi as the reference.

    Hi ican,
I was looking at your VI's but I cannot seem to pinpoint exactly where you are using Windows Media Player.  In order to more quickly assist you, could you please recreate this issue more concisely in a smaller set of VIs.  Also, were you able to get sound when you did not use the TCP/IP connection and simply played the files in LabVIEW?
I noticed in a few places that you were using the Play Sound File.VI from the Graphics and Sounds palette.  Is that what you are refering to?  I noticed there that the file path that you have designated for the song is simply the song title.  Instead, this should be a path to where the song is located on your computer.
Also, if you are planning on using Windows Media Player, have you considered using the ActiveX commands for Windows Media Player?  Here are a few examples if you are unfamiliar with this functionality.
    Example 1 and Example 2.
    I hope this helps!

  • Windows Media Player has somehow made itself the dealt video player for certain file types?

    Title should say default
I have Windows 7 installed in a virtual machine but I didn't think Windows Media Player would barge it's way onto my Mac and start making itself the default player for files here too -.- I even right clicked on the file, click open with.. chose vlc and checked the change all box. This worked and now when I double click the file it will open with vlc, but when I right click it, it still says that Windows Media Player is still the default player for this file type.

Don't know much about WMPlayer, but if FCE has multiple audio tracks a "MIX Down Audio" should be done just prior to the export.

  • Windows Media Player - no sound after Soundbooth use

Just installed soundbooth demo. Love it. Just what I needed. But now when attempting to play WAV files in Win Media Player, no sound. Help!

Soundbooth will generate 32 bit wav files sometime (high resolution), and Windows Media Player will not play all 32 bit files.
Vague I know, but this is something to look at when a file will not play in another application. If that happens again, Save As and select 24 bit or 16 bit for the file being written to disk.

  • Windows media player has audio gaps with iDVD project

    Suggestions welcome!
SITUATION: burned DVD using iDVD, movie format was Quicktime movie. This DVD plays fine on the mac.
On a PC, using Windows Media Player...certain audio
    tracks are absent.
POSSIBLE Solution? Here's what I'm in process of right now
    feel free to comment.
    1) saving movie as MPG4 for reburn in iDVD
    or
    2) the audio that will not play on the pc (W media player)
is the audio that was a phone interview and has no video but blackness...so i deleted that in the video. I would
rather not go back and edit all these sections of interview.
    3) should i be re-saving movie in MPG2 for window media player? most of our audience will be using this format so
    it has to be right.
    thanks for any help. alexis

  • My iphone is not recognised on either my computer (windows 7) or in the latest itunes that i downloaded. It was recognised for a short time but windows media player asked to open my pictures and i clicked ok. I also started downloading the newest software

My iphone 3gs is not recognised in either windows 7 or in the latest itunes. It was briefly but then Windows asked me if I wanted to open the camera with Windows media player and I clicked ok. I also tried to download the new software for the phone. Now nothing works. I also downloaded a programme which you supposedly need for iphone with windows 7
    Any help please

The ONLY program you need for an iPhone on Windows 7 is iTunes. Remove whatever the other program is, then remove and re-install iTunes as diesel vdub recommends.

  • Windows Media Player has no picture.

When attempting to play .mpg files, windows media player and windows movie maker both show no video and only play the audio of the movie clip. I'd like to be able to play the, especially since I did not have this problem before downloading movie maker.

Sure sounds like a codec problem to me. Here are two more.
Be sure to create a restore point before installing anything.
Also, uninstall the old codecs first using Control Panel's Programs and Features.

  • VOB has sound but no picture (gulp!)

    Hi
I have transferred a video tape to a DVD and it has come across as five .VOB files.
I can load the last four into Adobe Premiere Elements 7  but the first produces the message 'This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed'.  This is trange as the other four work fine.  I truied renaming the file to a .mpg file and the same message occurs.  When I play the file in Windows media player it play with sound but no picture.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?

    Rory,
Good luck with the pass-through on the videocam. That should work fine. The one hesitation that I have is that many mfgrs. omitted pass-through on their PAL models, as most of Europe have a higher VAT on a camera with it. Seems that legally it is declared as being another type of device, and the tariffs were higher. Many NTSC versions of the same camera did have that capability, but the same one for PAL-land did not. Now, many mfgrs. are just omitting it completely, to save $ with that circuitry, especially in light of the PAL tariff issues. Some have found that just picking up a used NTSC version has worked fine - they do not use it to shoot, but only as an A-D bridge with the pass-through. Hope that yours works perfectly, and that it will fill the bill.
As for the OZ whites, I have only encountered one, the Penfolds Yaterna, that did anything for me. In very general terms, I find the whites from NZ much more interesting. Now, I do find them to be great "sippers," but the herbaceousness and the grapefruit notes seem to get in the way with food. Still, a Cloudy Bay SB is such a great Summer wine (in AZ, USA, we need "Summer wines," about 9 mos. out of the year!). I love that grapefruit, though my wife is less a fan. She is also more enamored by a bigger French Chard, than almost any SB.
I had maintained many, many years ago, that NZ was going to be a PN center. That is being realized now. However, I do have to keep looking hard to find them. Some California restaurants are starting to explore them on their wine lists, but with some of the recently developing areas in CA doing some great PN's (Santa Barbara, Santa Rita, Central Coast and Napa/Sonoma in the Carneros AVA), it is a battle - lot of good PN's out there, as soon as one gets over the US$ 25-30/btl. range. I have yet to really see the value of PN's much below that price point. Probably some out there, but they are few and far between.
Here is an ongoing Shiraz THREAD in the Adobe Video Lounge. Here is an older THREAD on PN's from there. Here is a short Syrah THREAD. Some good discussions in the Lounge. In a similar tone, I am in a Photoshop/photography thread on Chowhound. It started with the question - what camera to do food photography. Along the way, one poster came out bashing Photoshop, and then went on to bash Photoshop Elements. I could not let THAT go on, so have been trying to stem the flow of mis-information being spewed in that thread. Now, I am not saying that Photoshop Elements is an end-all, be-all, or that it might not be too advanced for some, but when one basically says, "all I need to do is resize my images, and I recommend that no one buy PS, or PSE," I cannot sit still. Might not be the right programs for that poster, but such negative blanket statements will not go by without a challenge, at least from me. I know that the MOD's are probably watching me closely there, as PS is not really about A camera, though can be closely related to the product from A camera.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - Steve G. will probably banish me to the Video Lounge for dragging this thread OT, but that happens to me all the time. At least they removed that dusty plastic plant in the corner - the one that they always make me sit in, until I promise to be good.

  • Flash Player has sound but video is a green screen.

I am running Windows 7 x64 and did a new install on a new HD. No problem with my old HD installation.  I have an ATI XFX 6700 series video card, 8 GB computer RAM.  I have tried manual un-install per the youtube video.  I have deleted two Windows update files KB2735855 and KB2750841.  I installed the latest version of Flash Player 11.6.602 after reboot and the problem is in my primary browser Maxthon 3 and in IE9.  Both of these browsers work just fine for video, on my old HD.
I have re-installed the Maxthon browser as well.  Always a green screen in Flash video but the HTML video works ok.  The Adobe detector shows :
This is after the sucessful update to 11.6.602.171  I also don't understand why it shows Chrome browser which I didn't have untill the Flash update snuck it in on the last download.  This showed Chrome even before that and I don't beleive Maxthon is a Chrome browser.  I have run out of options except to try a Window restore.  What can I do to get this fixed? Very frustrated.
    Other video card info:

Pat, the video does work in Chrome.  But the Flash detector (1st picture) showed I was using Chrome before it was ever installed.  I think Adobe should at least recognize Maxthon browser and suggest the correct version of Flash.
I have the latest video driver and it was installed during my Windows install on the HD.  Perhaps it is a newer version than the one on my old drive, I will have to check.  I still have the green screen and I want to get video working in Maxthon which is a far better browser than anything esle I have tried.
The Flash player in Chrome shows it is Adobe Flash 11.6.602.171, while the right clicking in the video player on Maxthon shows it is 11.5.502.110 so obviously Flash is not updating after I downloaded and ran the updater.  How can I get rid of this old version, I have tried the manual uninstall?  There must be some registry entries that are not being deleted.
Picture of green screen:  Most videos on Adobe TV do this but here is URL: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/featured-videos-on-peek/pixeltone/
