Satellite L755-1HW - colours do not look natural on display

I recently bought Toshiba Satellite L755 and I'm generally pleased with it. It's an upgrade from my Toshiba Satellite L300.
However I have an issue with the way it displays colours. At first glance everything seems ok, but then again some colours do not look right.
For example, gold on my old Toshiba looks 'gold'; on the new one it's kind of yellowish and generally, yellow seems to dominate in some ways and red is often not truly red.On the other hand, the old Toshiba seems to have a better picture; better contrast and more natural well saturated colours with no issues as above.
The colours on the new display look like they've been filtered and have some kind of tinge of an unidentified colour. I compared a number of photos on both laptops and the difference is consistent.
My L300 runs on default settings; the only thing I adjusted is brightness. I tried adjusting settings on my L755; brightness, contrast, hue, gamma, saturation but without any improvement.
I've done colour calibration and when I get to the 'shades of gray' they seem fine like everything else in this test and yet something's not right. I would appreciate any advice and I hope it's not just a poor quality display.
I cannot connect the laptop to another display, but I can paste screendumps if needed.

Connecting an external monitor would be a good test, but as I said at the beginning I don't have vga cables. I can compare colours on my old and new toshiba.
Perception of colours might obviously be subjective and without comparing, many would find nothing wrong with the colours on my new toshiba. However, I can tell warmer shades from colder ones and it's ultimately me using the computer.
I made a trip to a computer shop and looked at a number of different laptops and it's really difficult to see much difference in colours looking at e.g. Windows 7 sample pictures. In fact, when I look at them on my computer they seem OK and not different to what I saw on other laptops at the shop. It's only when I copied them to my old toshiba that I saw the difference.
Of course, you may say it's my old toshiba that shows colours wrong, but I'm sure you'd agree with me if you saw the difference. The colours are natural and warmer, something I cannot say about achieve on my new toshiba.
I used to have an excellent Samsung external LCD monitor and when I bought my old toshiba I was mostly disappointed with sharpness and angles compared to the samsung. Now this time it's the colours, notably yellow just like in the case of the person whose link I pasted. For them the problem disappeared after moving from intel (with HD Graphics 3000 as I checked) to AMD. That's why I asked about your card and impression.
Also, have you compared colours on your laptop with another one (older model) or connected it to an extenal monitor/tv?

  • Virus damaged Satellite L755-17Q - now can not load

    Satellite L755-17Q
I accidentally downloaded a virus, this virus I believe then turned off my computer, and now once I try to load it, the Toshiba screen appears, but then the screen goes black with just a small bar flashing in the top left corner. I gave this program administrator rights as I thought it was safe. Now I cannot use my laptop, what should I do?
    All help is appreciated.
PS I am rubbish with computers.

I've misplaced my recovery disk for that laptop, but will a recovery disk for a Satellite L500-19X be sufficient? I've used it before on that laptop however, windows was not genuine, along with there being no network driver thing, so I couldn't connect to the internet.
The only real difference that I could detect between the two was 32bit and 64bit which of course I don't have a clue what they are.
If you can, could you please give me a link to where I can download the necessary network driver along with the instructions on how to download it onto my computer. All help appreciated.
PS I would have given you the helpful/correct answer thing, but I am unaware of how to give you it.

  • Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 Blue Screen of Death BSOD

If you are having “The Blue Screen Of Death” (BSOD) with a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 you are not alone. Please leave a comment in hopes enough of us can find each other and come up with a more permanent solution than the work around I present here. As of the day this was posted there was nothing index into Google or Toshiba’s forums regarding a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 having a BSOD problem.
Unfortunately I don't have an answer or solution so much as a troubleshooting alternative and that is to install Ubuntu 11+. I would rather use windows7 but the fact that Ubuntu runs without crashes indicates that my problem is a Windows 7 software issue. Windows7 is conflicting with either the hardware within my computer or some pre-installed factory software.
This laptop is new (it has only been out of the box for 3 months), has an i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and is still under warranty; until Sept. 10, 2012. I have yet to contact Toshiba but will. Within the last month (Feb. 2012) I started to get multiple BSODs out of no where. These were the following error messages:
    1. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : luafv.sys
    2. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : Ntfs.sys
    3. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
    Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe
    4. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe
    5. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : partmgr.sys
You can see my full BSOD error reports here: CLICK HERE
I have done all of the following hoping to solve this issue with no luck:
    1. Re-formated computer with factory shipped disk. Five Minutes after I did this I got the BSOD. That definitely eliminated the idea that it was something I had installed or that it was a windows update conflict.
    2. Got all window updates. That didn’t help.
    3. Checked all drivers manually one by one through the device manager for updates; according to the Device Manager there was no updates.
*However, this is the only area of hope that I have. I downloaded the program Drive Max and it list several drivers as outdated. I can only download two a day and install them. After I have them all installed I will report back as to whether or not I have a BSOD.
    4. Updated BIOS. Toshiba did have a BIOS update available but the update did not fix my BSOD problems. I have seen on this forum many people have had problems with the BIOS but I have not.
    5. Ran window's memory diagnostic tool. It reported  no errors.
60 I also ran Ubuntus memory test and passed.
    7. Check Disk with no errors
After all those failed attempts I took to the Internet. That is when I ran across a post online where a person stated they had the same problem with a similar Toshiba laptop and switched to Ubuntu. After doing so they had no problems. I did the same and agree I have no issues after one week. So I hope this helps for now. If anyone has this problem or finds a windows based solution please leave a comment.

Thank you all for your help.
Since I reformatted every time I have booted up I have turned on the Windows memory diagnostic too. I did this in hopes that if a BSOD occurred it would catch something when it rebooted and today it did after an extended memory test.
I got the standard message, “Hardware problems were detected...Test results will be displayed again after you log on”, however no test results were ever displayed. Does anyone know if there is a way to manually find the results of the test? Also, I ran the test again to see if I could get the results and the second time it said there were no problems detected.
At this point I am suspecting it to be a faulty stick of RAM. Windows 7 utilizes about 1.25GB of ram when booted and Ubuntu 200MB. This very well could be why Ubuntu works without problems.
I have to write a business plan in the next few weeks and cannot send my laptop in until that is done. So I will continue to use Ubuntu until done with my plan and then contact Toshiba. I will post back with any information I get in regards to the problem and once again thank you all for your help.

  • Webcam Not working for my Satellite L755-1MU

    Hi All,
I'm Kim, new to this forum...
I am having a problem with my SATELLITE L755-1MU laptop and hope that any of you all out there can help me out....
the issue is that my laptop's webcam is not working, i tried video call with Skype, gtalk, i can see the caller on the other side's picture, but no one can see my video :-(
the blue light on the webcam on top of the laptop is on, but no picture is coming...
can someone help me out with this?
    Many Thanks,
    Kim

    Hi,
Tried uninstalling the webcam software, then downloading the latest from the site.
Then again installed the latest webcam application software, but still no picture.
Yes, I selected the internal webcam application while using Skype but still, nothing.
The webcam is not taking any picture or video at all, though the blue light is on, plus the driver is working and software is installed.
Not sure, what to do next, hopefully need to call Toshiba support to get some help from them.
Do you have any other number other the chargeable 0844 number to call them? Or even a live chat?
    Many Thanks,
    Kim

  • Satellite L755-15R - does this model have blutooth?

    Hi All,
I've just bought this laptop Satellite L755-15R, and all the spec and stickers and paperwork says that it has Bluetooth 3.0 + hs.
It has all the Toshiba bluetooth stack software, but it would not install properly or fire up. In fact it conflicted with the WLan card and turned it off. Marvellous....
Having looked through the forums, I can't see if anyone one else has had this issue on this particular model.
It would be nice if Toshiba actually listed which of their laptops actually has bluetooth enabled (I can't find a web page that tells me anywhere)
Can anyone one advise....a Toshiba laptop PC expert would be nice...:)
Methinks the paperwork is misleading and mis-represents what these laptops actually have on them.
Your help is much appreciated... guys and girls
    Thanks
    Rob

According notebook specification it has BT.
    How to use BT?
If notebook has WLAN switch enable it and choose FN+F8 key combination and enable BT. BT option must be visible when you press FN+F8.
    Can you confirm this?

  • Difference between Satellite L750 and Satellite L755

    Hi All,
What exactly is the difference L750 and L755 . Isnt it the same thing ?

The Satellite L750-124 and Satellite L755-16T supports the same motherboard.
The chipset is the same but only the CPU was different.
    >But I have to remove my keyboard for the constant beeping sound to stop which comes up during POST in bios.
For me it looks like the POST (power on self test) cannot be passed because of the keyboard.
I would say the keyboard was affected too but if you already tested other keyboards and if this did not solve the problem, I guess the keyboard controller is faulty.
_Regarding the other parts like card reader and webcam._
The webcam module is connected to the USB controller on the motherboard.
In case you did not connect the webcam module properly, the webcam will not be recognized.
As far as I know the card reader is embedded on the system board. So if card reader malfunctions, the connection is defective and system board maybe faulty too.
However, as suggested by Dr.Lamp, after motherboard replacement, the DMI info needs to be updated using special tool. This can be done only by Toshiba authorized service partner.

  • Satellite L755-M1E6 - Cannot find this model on UAE - Middle East website

    Dear Friends,
I have purchased a new model of Satellite (L755-M1E6) from Abu Dhabi.
But i could not see this particular model number in the UAE - Middle East website.
Normally we could see that the model number has the format - "L755 - 000".
that means after L755 - only three digits.
Here in my laptop it shows 4 digits, L755-M1E6.
support website shows model number as "PSK2YE-0E602UAR" as against serial number.
Can you please clear my doubt that, is it a original toshiba laptop? is it a discontinued model?
Or please help me to know its correct model number.
    Please help me

    Hi
I am pretty sure this is a real Toshiba!
The model seems not to be an EMEA model though so it could be that it originates from another region of Toshiba - like Toshiba Asia.
Use your model number, the coplete PSK2YE-number you mentioned below along with the real serial which always is 9 charachters long ending with a letter (syntax 12345678A, X1234567A, 1X234567A or XY123456A - please understand that those are examples showing the syntax only - your letters and digits will be different!) and look them up here:
    Link: [https://onlineregistration.gedb.toshiba.com/GEDBPUBLIC/]
If you enter the proper information there you should be able to look up your PC.
    Good luck
    Tom

When you boot, you will hear windows sound, the sound for some time, and then suddenly disappear.

  • I am having trouble using reverb of any kind; it does not sound natural, but rather "pixilated." Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? I have used Silververb and Space Designer and am having the same problem...

I am using Logic Pro 9 with two MXL 990 microphones in my piano and a Rode NT1A for vocals. I have tried recording with added reverb and keeping getting not a natural reverb sound, but a rather "pixilated" one that does not sound natural. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue? I have tried using Silververb and Space Designer, and both result in the same problems. Thank you!

This is asking for the impossible! It does not sound natural because maybe it isn't and in judging so whats your reference anyway. If you are in dire need of some natural sounding room you can go and record it yourself. But even then, the chances that it sounds like you imagined it, are very slim.
There are very decent sounding reverberation plugins, based on artificial reverb generators or convolution-style, the last one is said to sound more 'natural' then the first one. Be it as it maybe, it really is like cooking food. You got all the ingredients for this delicious taste at hand and believe it or not to reach a satisfying result this is not enough, because if you do not mix the ingredients in the right proportion you will end up with a different dish you thought you'll get. This is exactly the same when one would mix audio, I dare say.
So treat yourself to some good ingredients and the rest is up to you, namely: taste and experience!
And looking at some of my past music productions I always find the same plugins for the 'ambient' task:
Altiverb by Audio Ease when I have acoustic ensembles (classical music mostly), the Sony Oxford Reverb in studio productions, Bricasti when I have to deal with drums and MMultiBandReverb from MeldaProduction for all-round stuff. Thats the base I start from, after that I can end up with dozen Reverb plugins which basically all are doing the same thing but just in a tiny different way.

  • Satellite L755: Win8.1 update - Flash Cards message: Win 8 test version

    Hi;
After I update to windows 8.1 from win8 mc I am getting message after my laptop is starting from (Toshiba Flash Card) like the picture bellow,
Any idea how to fix it?
I remove VAP then system driver and then functions key utility and re installing it - no change made?

  • Satellite L755 - after Win 8.1 upgrade cannot use FN+F8

    Hi Sirs;
After I update my laptop Toshiba Satellite L755 to Windows 8.1 and when I press FN+F8 to off or on the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth it is not working.
I removed VAP then system driver and then functions key utility and re installing it not Success to turn of,
    please any advice?

Windows 8.1 does NOT support the Value Added Package anymore!
The VAP was released for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 Upgrade
Notebooks which were preinstalled with Win 8 do not contain VAP anymore!
But the Satellite L755 does not seem to be Win 8.1 supported.
So you will be lucky man if you will get these function buttons working.
I can recommend you to check the Win 8.1 driver released for Satellite L855 series.
Install the Toshiba Function Key Utility and Toshiba System Driver
    Maybe it would help

  • Satellite L755-S5368 - PrintService Error Event ID 372

I got a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5368 laptop with Windows 7 64b. I have an HP 1020 LaserJet printer with the latest HP software installed lj1020-HB-pnp-win64-en.exe that I can find from HP. The printer works fine, but everytime I print something an error message is logged in Event Viewer.
I googled this, but did not find anything that matches what I am getting. Everything I saw on goolge the printer actually would not print, but mine prints fine.
Does anyone know how to get Event Viewer to stop logging the code everytime I print to the HP laserjet 1020?
    Level-Error Source-PrintService Event ID-372
The document Microsoft Word - 2012-2, owned by YYY, failed to print on printer HP LaswerJest 1020. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
I get this anytime I print to the laserjet 1020 with Word, Excel, Notepad, Acobat, etc. Like I said, it prints fine, but I want to get rid of the error code being logged everytime I print.
I have posted this at both sevenforms plus the HP support forums, I have not gotten a response from either site.

Sorry I didn't realise that your printer doesn't use PCL (printer control language) - your computer converts a document to a printer specific file whereas with a PCL compliant printer your computer creates a file to one of the PCL standards and sends that to the printer.
The only other suggestion I have is that occasionally self extracting and installing driver files get it wrong. I'd try uninstalling and deleting (if possible) the printer drivers and unpack the files out of your "exe" file to disk and then do a manual "Add a printer" printer

  • Toshiba Satellite L755-S5216 poor sound

I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5216. The sound is barely audible through the on board speakers, and hardly any better with speakers plugged in. There doesn't seem to be any upgrade to the Conextant audio driver available. I've checked all the settings and have all the volume levels at max. I've been told by our IT guys that there isn't really anything I can do with this model as the sound is poor at best on most of them, and Toshiba has never really bothered to address the issue. Does anyone know if there is a fix, or should I just save this one for general web duties and buy another laptop?

My computer has the same problem. The sound is muffled. I called Toshiba and hooked them into the computer. They told me the driver was corrupted for the sound. This was NOT covered by the warrenty. I explained I wasn't buying a warrenity for $199 (this is more than half what I paid for the computer) when it should work out of the box. They "fixed" it - NOT. They also were going to call me back - NOT.
I have 4 Toshiba laptops. They all came with warrenties and systems discs. The tech support person explained they don't give the discs or the warrenty anymore to save money. My advice is to write to the Attorney General of your state and the Better Business Bureu and buy a DELL.
