Satellite L755-1NP - Battery meter missing in task bar

This is really annoying.
The little battery meter in the notification area is not there anymore.
It is really hard to guess the battery life from the battery LED on the front of my L755-1NP. I tried right clicking the notification bar and checking properties but the battery meter icon is greyed out so I cannot turn it on.
Anybody have an idea on this?

Hi
Maybe this workaround would help you:
1) Open the Start menu, and type gpedit.msc in the search and press Enter.
2) UAC notification would appear, so click Enter.
3) Now you can set and manage the Local Group Policies
4) Open the all users and on the left side (pane), click on an expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates and Start Menu and Taskbar.
5) Search in right pane for Remove the battery meter and click on Edit.
6) to Enable the Power Icon - Select Disabled or Not Configured and click OK.
7) Now reboot the notebook
Good luck

  • Satellite A - Battery/Power Indicator Missing from Task Bar

My battery/power indicator is missing from the task bar. When I attempt to turn it on, it's grayed out and I don't have the option to select it. I've checked the hidden icons functions, etc. When I searched on google, there were several fixes - but all are way out of my area of expertise.
    Please help!

    Hi
Maybe you have installed an software which affected this Windows option.
It could be also a damage registry entry
Maybe you could clean the OS using CCleaner and repair the registry
Im not quite sure if it will help you but its worth a try

  • How do you uninstall the wireless service and lenovo battery indicator from the task bar.

Was wondering if there is a way to remove them from the taskbar. Initially I had just the battery indicator and then I downloaded all the lenovo updates (for bios, etc.) and got the wireless service indicator too. They seem kind of redundant to me, as windows 7 already has their own on the task bar and they're just taking up additional space.
I'd atleast like to get rid of the wireless service.
Will this effect anything? Are they that important?

Right click on the Lenovo battery gauge in the taskbar, click "Launch Power Manager", click Options, clear "Show Power Manager Gauge in taskbar" check box.  If Options tab is not available, switch to Advanced mode (upper right corner of Power Manager).
Don't recall specifics for Lenovo network icon, but is probably just as simple.  Would be better (IMHO) to get rid of Access Connections altogether.
Removing the icons will have no affect on anything, except your piece of mind from removing these ugly and redundant symbols of bloatware.  They are NOT important.

  • Lost battery charging status from task bar

My 14 month grandaughter was playing with my T60 and now I don't have the charging status on my taskbar.  I've gone through the Properties screens for the taskbar and disktop and don't see any settings I could change.  T60 with XP professional.

  • Firefox 4 is not appearing in Task bar or some times it is Disappearing from task bar when i am minimising the window. so, i had to go to Task manager and find the icon. Its becoming big messy if tabs are not found , to switch programmes.

firefox icon is missing from "Task bar"when i am minimising the window

I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?

  • Satellite P10-804: How to enable the battery icon visible on the task bar?

how do I do enable the battery icon visible on the task bar? currently I can only have the type of power save mode e.g. bulb & colour.
I have tried to activate right clicking taskbar/properties/notification areas, found required icon & instructed to always show, however the batery icon remains hidden.
    Help??

One question: Did you try to set several settings in the Windows own power options?
However, I would say some registry keys are corrupt and therefore the battery icon cannot be displayed in the task manager.
Probably only the new installation can help you displaying the icon in the task bar.

  • Inaccurate battery meter!

    Hey guys.
I currently have the Nokia 5230, very happy with it. Does have a few problems, but the one that bugs me the most is the really stupid battery meter. Its there to tell me how much battery I have left, I think we'd all agree on that.
Around the first 24-28 hours the first bar will stay solid, but after that I see the rest go down every hour.
I think the fact that its a 5230 is irrelevant, because many other of my past Nokia's have suffered the same thing and other users with Nokia's also have a similar problem.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated, thank you!
Say hello to my little friend!

I was actually thinking to buy the pink one.. because the black one originally comes with a bonus pink battery cover, and to be honest it looks pretty good! Even some of the guys agreed.
I also agree with the fact that the phone would melt if 2-3 bars worth of power is used to start up the phone, so it clearly can't be for that reason.
I'm going tomorrow to exchange the phone, which I think is for the best, because also, the GPS seems absolutely useless. Not once have I locked onto a satellite, even after around 30 mins waiting whilst walking through town, just to see what it was like. Think its a firmware problem :/
This is also irrelevant, but for the first week of owning the phone, the RAM seemed really strange. I noticed that even after closing an application, it would still be present on the systems RAM even though it wouldn't show up. I found this out through the use of handy task manager. Result was that I couldn't even send a text whilst listening to music; it would give me that annoying error, memory full close applications blah blah. But now its gone after a format of the memory card via the phone, so if anyone's have a similar problem, try formatting the card, because I think it was to do with reading applications off the memory card..

  • No sound from satellite L755-S5349

    Hi Guys!
I need help. My satellite L755-S5349 suddenly stopped having sound both from the built-in speakers and headphones. I noticed there's a red cross over the volume control on the task bar. When I click on it it says no audio output device installed. I tried to troubleshoot and no probs could be identified. I checked if there's a sound driver installed and it says Intel  audio display version 6.14.0.3074. I updated that and it said it was updated and was working properly. I tried all the other tips I saw here like downloading drivers, system restore, taking out the battery and restarting, making laptop hibernate then clicking volume control, but the red cross remains.
I don't know what else to do. I just got it less than 6 mos ago.I noticed a lot of people are having the same probs, maybe someone can help me out, pls.
    Thanks in advance!!!!

It sounds like it may be time for you try calling customer support at (800) 457-7777. You could also try a full factory recovery by holding '0' (zero) while starting.

  • What does it mean if two orange lights on my Satellite L755 are blinking?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-154 (PSK2YE). Recently, whenever I launch a high-resource game (Train Simulator 2015), after about half an hour the power and battery indicators blink orange. A while after this, the laptop cuts out. What is going on?
    Thanks in Advance

Usually the power indicator (2nd from left) glows white when the computer is turned on.
This indicator will flash orange (amber) when the notebook turns off into sleep mode.
The battery indicator shows the condition of the battery charge.
White indicates the battery is fully charged, amber (orange) indicates the battery is charging and flashing indicates low battery condition.
In my opinion it looks like the notebook turns into the sleep more or shut down because the battery charging status is low.
At the other hand it could be possible that your notebook overheats due to unacceptable high temperature level. In such case the DC IN indicator would flash orange and the notebook would shut down.
This might be also the case since this issue happens while running a high performance game.
In case of high internal temperature, you should check if the cooling vents as well as the cooling grilles are free of dust and the cooling air could circulate properly.

  • Clamshell - battery meter problem?

Somebody has to be able to explain this one to me...
I bought a used graphite 466 to hold me over until I can save up for a brand new laptop. It was running like a dream, at least until...
I turned it on one morning, as I usually do... and the battery meter was acting really weird... I still got my 4 hours of use out of it, but the meter very slowly ticked down to about 95%, then took a huge nosedive down to just 5% in an instant... I was forced to run off the adapter until my class was finished, and I brought it home...
I was at home, adapter hooked up so I could recharge it while I continued using it. The charge slowly crept up to maybe 9 or 10%, then jumped straight to fully charged. That was the point where I realized something was very wrong... so I scoured the support pages, and the discussions, to try to find something that matched what was happening with mine.
I did the PMU button, reset the NVRAM through open firmware... I even let the battery run down fully and took it out of the laptop for the night...but there was no change...
Next, I decided to download one of those programs to check the battery... and either I'm very confused, or the numbers just dont add up.
According to XBattery, my battery stats right now (fully charged and running off the adapter) are:
    installed: yes
    charging: no
    charger: yes
    battery %: 100
(so far, all makes sense... what a fully charged battery should say, I would think... but then it gets weird)
    Max. cap: 3.600Ah
    Curr. cap: 64.860Ah
    Charge: 64.860Ah
(this part makes me think maybe the labels for these numbers are mixed up somehow... how could my current capacity be that far above the max?)
voltage: 16.858v (the adapter itself says it should be 18v, but this is close enough)
amperage: 0 (it's not currently drawing any power from the battery... i guess?)
cycles: 80 (charge cycles, I guess...sounds way too low for it to be a battery problem... )
Flags: 2d000005 (no clue... I'm sure they mean something, but I don't know what...)
Now, I'm no expert as to what all those numbers really mean, but my impression is that it's not a battery problem per se....
Anybody have any idea what's wrong with my machine? Is there something simple that I'm missing here?

I ran a terminal command to show my battery information:
    "IOBatteryInfo" = ({"Capacity"=64860,"Amperage"=0,"Cycle Count"=90,"Current"=3363,"Voltage"=16415,"Flags"=754974725,"AbsoluteMaxCapacity "=3600})
While I'm no expert, I think I have at least some grasp of what it's saying...
Capacity is 64860mAh, which XBattery lists as 64.860Ah... different units, same thing...
Cycle Count is now up to 90... that's fine... I've charged and discharged a few times since last time I checked the count...
Amperage is at 0, even though the menu says it's charging... not sure how that is true...
Voltage is 16.415... not too far off from the 18v listed on the outside of the power adapter... that's acceptable...
For the flags, 754974725 in decimal is the same as 2d000005 in hex, which matches XBattery...
The part I don't get is... if I'm showing a charge of 3363 out of a max of 3600, why is it only at 5%? The only way it could be was if it was comparing the charge to the current capacity... 3363/64860, which is about 5.2%...
For some reason, the computer is not giving it more power, because it's so close to that 'assumed' capacity... 3600 space left on a 64860 battery, which would be around 95% charged... and that's before counting the 3363 I 'persuaded' the battery to accept... But when it checks capacity after I unplug the adapter, it is nowhere close to what the machine was 'assuming' while the adapter was connected...
I would think my computer (or any computer for that matter) would be smart enough to at least pose the question as to why the 'max capacity' is so far below the 'current capacity'... It's like saying 'This basket holds 36 apples maximum, but currently, it's holding 640+ apples... it doesn't really make much sense... There is no situation in which both statements could EVER be true for that one single basket, or my battery in this case...
You'd think an error screen would pop up or something: "The battery is currently sending unreliable and conflicting capacity data, so therefore, time and charge percentage are unable to be calculated in any reliable fashion..." Then it should instruct me on what to do to correct it... Or, at the very least, suggest that I call for assistance... right?
This issue has evolved from weird to downright annoying... I just wish I knew what the real problem was so I could fix it already!

  • Latest Settings Dependency Package (1.2.0.21) kills TP battery meter

After installing the latest Settings Dependency Package (i.e. version 1.2.0.21)  the ThinkPad battery meter has disappeared from my Windows task bar.
Downgrading to 1.1.1.15 -- which can still easily be found via Google -- brings it back.
Bug (I guess) or feature? Does anybody have a solution or will I just have to wait for the next release of Settings Dependency Package to have it fixed?

    >> Would you recommend staying with Windows' energy settings instead??
Use Windows to manage power plans (e.g. Energy saver, balanced, high performance, etc) and settings (lid close action, power button action, sleep after XXX minutes, etc)
Use the Power section of Lenovo Settings (the metro app) to manage ThinkPad-specific settings, such as Battery Stretch, 30 Day Standby, etc
    >> can you tell me how to uninstall the Windows 7 Power Manager? It does not show up in the installed applications control panel.
Lenovo Settings Dependency Package and Power Manager actually share the same app GUID and several common components.  To get rid of the old Power Manager remnants which don't belong on Win8, uninstall Lenovo Settings Dependency Package.  Then re-install it.
