I have a Toshiba Satellite L755 PSK2YE with windows 7 64 bit
The Dvd writer blinks when I am watching movies
Do i need to update the BIOS or what >> BIOS 2.70 to 2.78

I've the same problem but not only when watching the movies, but randomly for at least couple of times each 30 minutes !!

I keep getting an APPCRASH warning when trying to watch movies

I have been trying to watch movies through iTunes, one that I have downloaded. I can listen to any of my music but when I try and watch a movie it gives me the following warning, closes, and will not re-open until I restart my computer. I have a 2006 iMac. I am trying to hook up a LG external DVD writer. It doesn't appear on the desktop when I hook it up. Any suggestions?

I have replaced the internal DVD/CD drive twice in the last 1 1/2 years. Now when I insert a DVD or CD, it does not appear on the desk top or anywhere else. I can't eject it. I tried everything possible that I could think of. After a few weeks, the CD decided to eject when I started up my computer. I put another DVD in and this time it showed up on the desk top, so I tried to burn something to it and the computer told me there wasn't any device available to do such. Then I could not get it to eject. I tried shutting down the computer and starting it up, and the DVD disappeared off the desk top again. This time I was able to get it to eject sooner. I haven't put anything new in there since! I purchased a third party external DVD writer. When I hooked it up to the computer, nothing appeared on the desk top. I put the software disc in (which is windows, but I wanted to see what it did). It showed up on the desk top and let me open it up. I was able to eject it from the desk top. I then put in a blank CD to record music to. Since there wasn't anything on my computer for the new drive, I tried dragging and dropping the songs onto the CD and it appeared to be burning the CD, but when I put the CD into my stereo, it showed error. Many years ago I had a LaCie external drive because my computer didn't have one and it used Toast which was on my desk top. I thought this one was supposed to just work with iTunes, but I am not sure what I am supposed to do with it. Should the device appear on my desk top when I plug it in? Is there some kind of software that I am supposed to have? I am running version 10.6.8. Thanks!

The external DVD/CD Writer will Not appear on your desktop when you attach it to your iMac. It will appear in "Finder", which is in your Dock.

External USB 2.0 DVD writer - sleep mode issue

I have an Adaptec USB PCI card and hook up with an external USB DVD writer. When I try to standby (sleep mode) it, only screen blanks out, PowerMac G4 does not go to sleep, and no way to wake up or access to it. Only way is a hard shutdown.
The question is, do I need to disconnect this DVD writer first and do I need eject this USB 2.0 device first?

Most Mac compatible USB 2.0 PCI cards seem to have problems supporting sleep. Typically either the computer won't sleep, or it will sleep but hang on wakeup, or it will sleep and wake up but the device will no longer be recognised until a restart. One solution seems to be to switch off any connected USB devices before sleeping the computer.

New LG DVD writer wont work with XP 32 SP3

I'm experiencing a driver problem while trying to get my new LG DVD writer to work. I have XP (sp3) which uses a Radeon 8500 video card. Nothing I do enables the DVD writer to work. suggestions?

Just because you bought a dvd player/r/r. does not mean it will burn dvd`s. You have to have the driver/software to accomplish this.
Example: I bought a new Memorex cdrom/dvd/writer/rewriter when my old cd rom went out. but it did not come with the software/drivers to actually play or burn /write dvds.

K7n2 Delta ILSR - DVD writer problem

My system is a AMD athlon 2600, 1Gb Crucial DDR 400 RAM, Tyan tacheon 9600 pro and a pioneer A106 DVD writer.
I have connected IDE1 to the hard drive and IDE 2 to the Pioneer DVD writer.
When
i) IDE 2 (DVD) is NOT connected the system boots up very quickly.
ii) IDE 2 is connected , the sytems start up time is a lot slower.
The DVD writer works then intermittently and sometimes doesnt even respond in explorer.
Anyone got any ideas on why this is?

Stop MBP from sleeping when lid is shut - for watching movies on Apple TV

I recently bought a MBP and Apple TV both work fine but because the MBP is connected to an external monitor, the MBP is always in clamshell mode (lid is shut) So the thing keeps going to sleep when I'm watching movies on the TV screen. I have the 'wake for network access' set to on, this doesn't seem to work either.
Basically how can I keep the MBP from going to sleep when the lid is down and no activity has occurred, so I don't have to get up halfway through a movie to start up the Mac again, cos the homesharing connection has been lost because the MBP has gone to sleep again!!!?

You might be able to do it with Insomniax. I haven't tried it in the way you asked but it might be able to if you se it up to run in one account and not the other.

None that I know of.
The MacBook will go to sleep if it is connected to an external monitor and you close the lid. Once it is closed you can wake it up and use it. The two links referenced in the other post show how to do this. You can also do it with just a wireless blue tooth mouse and no external keyboard. Just set it so the bluetooth devices will wake it. You also can use your Apple remote to wake it with an external display connected. It will allow you to use Front Row with the lid closed on the external display.

What does it mean if two orange lights on my Satellite L755 are blinking?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-154 (PSK2YE). Recently, whenever I launch a high-resource game (Train Simulator 2015), after about half an hour the power and battery indicators blink orange. A while after this, the laptop cuts out. What is going on?

Usually the power indicator (2nd from left) glows white when the computer is turned on.
This indicator will flash orange (amber) when the notebook turns off into sleep mode.
The battery indicator shows the condition of the battery charge.
White indicates the battery is fully charged, amber (orange) indicates the battery is charging and flashing indicates low battery condition.
In my opinion it looks like the notebook turns into the sleep more or shut down because the battery charging status is low.
At the other hand it could be possible that your notebook overheats due to unacceptable high temperature level. In such case the DC IN indicator would flash orange and the notebook would shut down.
This might be also the case since this issue happens while running a high performance game.
In case of high internal temperature, you should check if the cooling vents as well as the cooling grilles are free of dust and the cooling air could circulate properly.

Satellite L755-169 cant read DVD+ R DL

I have a problem on my Toshiba Satellite L755-169 (PSK2YE), that my laptop cant read the DVD+R DL but I hear the DVD reader try to read but it can.
Why and how can I fix this problem?

As far as I know the drive supports definitely the DVD+R DL disks.
I found this info about the compatibility:
CD-R(read/write),
CD-RW(read/re-write),
DVD-R SL, DL(read/write),
DVD-RW(read/write),
DVD+R SL, DL(read/write)
DVD+RW(read/write),
DVD-RAM(read/write),
CD-ROM,
DVD-ROM
You can read the DVD+R DL 8x and you can write the DVD+R DL 6x
I think you should test different disks from different manufacturers. Not all brands supports the same specifications.

DVD/CD Burning - Toshiba satellite l755

im using toshiba satellite l755 i5 laptop,i used to burn data in to dvd's when im using windows 7, after installing windows 8 i cant do it anymore, i get the burning successful message but no files found in the dvd/cd, how do i fix this?

Satellite L850-13Q cannot write DVDs

I recently tried to write several DVDs without success. It is a problem that occurred several days ago, out of the blue, since a long time has passed since I last wrote a DVD. I tried several DVD brands, so the DVDs are not the problem. I also used several DVD writing programs (Ashampoo, Nero, ImgBurn), none of them worked. I do not receive any errors during the writing process, in fact, everything runs as it's supposed to. What is more, the disc surface is visibly written.
But when I insert the DVD, Windows sees it as a blank DVD. I am using Windows 8 (the writing used to work just fine before, also under Windows 8) and I am most certain that no harmful change to the operating system has occurred, since I also performed a clean install of Windows, the result of the writing being the same.

Have you checked burned DVDs on some other PCs? Are all of them recognized as blank discs?
What is with CDs? Have you noticed the same problem with burning data on empty CDs?
It is really strange issue and it is not easy to say what the problem can be. If I understand you right the same problem persists with clean OS installation (factory settings), right?

I just added an LG GP60 DVD writer to my Macbook Pro and the the drive will not release the disk when I try to ejecct it...any one can help?

I only got a disc for windows and I have read that for mac it is a plug and play. It works fine when I put the disc in but when I go to remove it I have to unplug it from the USB connection and replug and then the light comes on and I can hit the release button. I want to be able to hit the release button and the drive door just pops out so I can remove my CD.

Googling around I found info that this drive must be from Hitachi. Unfortunately I didnt find any info about Labelflash.

New DVD writer on Satellite M40-193 uses 100% CPU

Hello anyone,
recently I have replaced my DVD-writer with a new one. My laptop is a Satellite M40-193 (PSM40E-06M026IT) and the original drive is a Mat****a UJ-831B. I have replaced it with a Sony-Nec Optiarc AD-7633A because I like the slot-in feature and the Labelflash feature.
Unfortunately it makes me a problem. It will use 100% CPU every time I use it. I cannot figure out the problem. Is there anyone who can help me? It is a software problem or hardware?

After six days this is the only help I can get on this forum: "...this optical disc drive is compatible with your notebook model?".
The ATA communication bus is a standard.
The exsistence of a compatibility list does not means that ONLY those drives present in the list can work with the relative notebook.
Those drives are the ones tested and the ones that Toshiba says: "this drive surelly work" but not says "this is the only drive that work".
In fact I have RESOLVED the question with a little software I have found on another forum and now my drive works perfectly and I have a newer and more featured drive than those in the list.

Satellite L755 - Error when uninstalling Bluetooth Stack

I Have Satellite L755 . It comes with Windows 7. I formatted it and Installed a fresh copy of Windows 8 Pro.
I Installed all windows updates, then i ran Toshiba Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant and installed all the components.
then after some days i upgraded to Windows 8.1 through the store.
the bluetooth icon beside clock didn't show the option to enable/disable bluetooth and also through the settings (in the side charm), change PC settings, PC and devices, Bluetooth also it doesn't show to enable or disable Bluetooth.
I tried to re-install the Bluetooth stack it gave an error.
I decided to uninstall the Bluetooth stack and then i get the error: "'Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid'
| installed Revo Uninstaller Pro but no benefit.
I installed TuneUpUtilities2014 but no benefit.
I installed Wise Registr Cleaner but no benefit.
How can i uninstall it ??? please help?

I have done clean installation of Windows 8 -64 bit after formatting.
then I upgraded to Windows 8.1 through the store. It couldn't install the upgrade after downloading it for 3 times , but after adding the feature "Media Center" to windows 8 , I tried again to update and it downloaded and installed Windows 8.1 very successfully with no problems at all.
